Man I swear the more I learn about Elvis and his sense of humor and personality in life - not just the music, which is fantastic in and of itself - the more I love him. I wish I'd been alive at the same time he was, or rather that he'd lived longer.

Friends from that day in 1965 till Elvis last breath in 1977. Sir Tom Jones confessed a few years ago he thought of Elvis every single day. Elvis said several times Tom was he's only real friend in all music industry. They used to share hotel suites and flats when singing in Las Vegas, went on vacations together, and gathered in family reunions. It's sad that Elvis died so young, and it's even sadder that someone lost he's best friend for 43 years now.

As the story goes, Elvis was once driving home to Graceland when Tom Jones singing the newly-released “Green, Green Grass of Home” came on the radio and Elvis liked the song so much he called his deejay friend George Klein at the radio station and asked him to play it over and over for him.

Tom played at the casino resort where I work once in the 2000s.I worked on the golf course at the time but they recruited a few of us to set up chairs and help backstage for concerts. When we did that were able to watch the show from the wings. Tom Jones absolutely blew me away with the power of his voice . I'm not big on ' celebrity ' worship but this guy had charisma that was undeniable . He was clearly a star from the minute he entered the room. I got the chance to talk to him after the show and he was really cool and talked about being friends with Elvis, Janis Joplin, Stevie Wonder and Jimmy Page .

My mother's auntie (we'll call her my aunt to simplify) actually knows Tom Jones from back years ago (originally friends with his wife). He called a few months ago (we guess because of his wife's passing) to her house and her husband picked up. They hadn't spoken to eachother in years now so this would have been very weird. So he answered the phone and Tom must have said something like "hi, is Jeanie..." my aunt's name "...there? It's Tom Jones" because he didn't believe him and said "haha very funny" before hanging up. A few hours later he called back and spoke to my aunt for like an hour and a half after convincing her of his identity to talk about old times together.
It's nice to have this connection to Tom, though what's sad is that my aunt has recently had issues with memory which could be the start of Alzheimer's or something. I hope she'll be fine and maybe meet Tom for the first time in a few decades.

It's lovely to hear that Tom values and needs connection with those who remember him and Linda. He's from Wales, and the accent and heartfelt feeling of friends and family runs deep. I'm glad he and your aunt had that time together. Such a blessing for both. My best to you and yours, and thanks for sharing this story. It did me good today. Tom's show was my favorite when I was a teenager. It'll be sad to hear one day that he's passed, but only momentarily, because he'll be with Linda again.

I'll add your aunt to my daily prayers, not religious, but asking that universal healing energy reaches her and all with Alzheimer's. She must be a lovely person for Tom to reach out for her at the saddest time of his life. I can envision the two of them sharing what no one else could in that call. A beautiful thing.

Is your family in the US or Britain? My paternal grandfather was born in 1884 in Newtown, Wales and was celebrated for his beautiful voice wherever he went. I love the Welsh voice, music and language. I'm glad people still value and preserve it. I saw a wonderful Welsh boy's choir on BGT, and beautiful voices joined in song are good for the whole 🌎🎶🙏💕

So Funny and I am sure the Elvis meant it exactly that way, to be funny or shocking. As we all know, he became famous not only with his lovely vocals but his SHOCK FACTOR. They were too cool though, both of them are "Legends" in their own right.

You're right about that...And humor too. There was not a minute that went by that Elvis didn't inject some humor into it... He had both a very subtle and a very wacky grandiose sense of humor. (Sometimes you really have to look for it but there's a lot of subtle/subdued humor in all of his performances).

Well that was the TMI story of the evening lol. I mean it is cool Elvis sang to him With These Hands is gorgeous but what happens in the men's room stays in the men's room. Plus it really makes me want to cry my poor baby doll couldn't get his pants up tears. Anyway Tom and Elvis are the two greates singers ever to grace this earth The Lord really gave them magical voices.

Nobody on this planet is cooler than Tom. Seriously, who is cooler than that guy? I read his autobiography, "Over the top and back" one of the greatest books I ever read in my life on a popular musician and the 1960s. It's absolutely unreal the life this guy has lived, and look at him, he's still looks great, still rocking it when so many others have quit.
