Watched a few of these classic car investment videos. Hard to believe the Nissan Skyline is not mentioned directly. Been keeping an eye on these for the last 8 years and they've gone up over 300%.
It’s probably because they have gone up so much in price. Most of these cars are relatively cheap still and like you pointed out skylines have already gone up. It’s because of the fast and furious and Paul walkers passing and the 90s kids scooping them up at every opportunity

Hey Brown Car Guy, Do me a favour, you show some quite good photos of the cars you are talking about in your videos, but in a few seconds there gone, leave them up longer, please ! And underneath the picture, print the make and model and the year, please !
I am a British Motor Engineer in New Zealand, I have a 87 XJSC with only 118000KM V12. They only made about 3500 of these, mine rust free in top condition, here only worth 12000 pounds.
I only buy classics I genuinely like. If I end up not making money on the Car, I still have a car I love. Also I ensure that the classic car has no rust. It it doesn’t have rust I don’t even care if it is running or not. I’m considering importing an ae86. Since compared to $60,000 Supra’s they are still fair in price. The most I would spend on one of those (ae86) would probably be 35k for a stock low millage example. (Low millage for Toyota is 100,000 miles
Nice Channel, i have just bought my first “classic” a red Mazda mx5 US version 1990. I know that their so many of them but they all rust like hell so hopefully it will be unique in about 10 years? All the best Philip, Denmark

Ive had three classics over time, Lotus Europa Special bought 4,000 pounds ( but stolen 4 years later ). Capri 2.8 3,700 and sold after 3 years 2,000. Finally XJS Convertible V12 bought for 10,000 sold 4 years later 6,000 Oh! How I wish I still had them!
I can't believe he left the BMW E-30 off his list.. I bought a straight 1986 E-30 August 2020 for $4,200 and was offered $12,000 just 6 months later.. I wanted an E-30 since they came out, so I kept it..
I had an E30, one my most favourite cars! It’s a great investment! However they have already skyrocketed in value, as you rightly illustrated. Some are going for insane money, and I don’t just mean M3s. Definitely a keeper - enjoy!! Wish I still had mine.
Enjoyed this video, would be great to see more insight on classic cars! However, watching this , I couldn’t help not think about the social aspect concerning the future values of classic cars. Cars that can be sniffed upon on some parts of the world could be a target of heated hunt elsewhere, and that variation in local demand will vary greatly the local prices. Probably hence the different future investments lists (by region) by Hagerty. Probably at some point there will need to be a similar list for the Middle East region, and bet that will be different still - probably more US inclined (but that’s a topic for another time maybe!). Anyhow, this video probably tells me what I already intended to do (inshalla): keep my X351 XJ 5.0 SC, which is the last ICE-ed XJ, for as long as I can...
Great points, and yeah keep the Jag. I think Middle East classic list would be US and Japanese orientated, but it will take a little longer for classics to truly find their values in that market. That could well be a subject for another video 😉
Do you mean the SC 430 or the LC 500? The SC I think might have its day, but it's a bit of an oddball, not universally loved, though that doesn't mean it won't become a collectible at some point. The beautiful LC, particularly the V8 rather than the hybrid, will be a future classic for sure, but give it a couple of decades.
I still think that the government's ban on fuel will have a affect on the price of classics surley? Where are we even going to be able to get petrol or diesel from? And how much per gallon will it be?.. it will be like trying to run them on chanel n' 5
Because petrol and diesel cars will still be driving around I think traditional fuels will continue to be available until 2040-2050. After which they’ll be available from specialist outlets though not as widely. Most ordinary petrol and diesel cars will have been scrapped by then so those classics that remain will certainly retain if not grow in value.
@@BrownCarGuy ..yes, I know I highly value originality..I don't know if it's the same in the U.K. or not, but here in the U.S., a shocking amount of the surviving classic cars are being highly modified with modern drivetrains, wheels, interiors, etc...so in my book, not really a classic car anymore...just a shell of one with modern components...shockingly, also, these cars often sell for more than a very nice original...but, they are only original once, and I have a feeling that, in the long run, the original ones will ultimately be the best investment and will retain their value best....

Creates great balance but it soured me, my friends mom had a 928 that never really left the garage, had like 45k on it, she was going to sell it to me cheap but also I'm too tall at 6' to really sit in it. 911 is a dream for tall people.
Definitely Honda CRX and also VW corrado VR6 and golf r32. BMW e31 massively on the rise especially original looked after ones with low ownership, and remember classic cars are a tax free investment too....
Agreed!
Bought MK2 CRX March 2020
I have to ask: the 1/18 Lotus Esprit S1 diecast in the background, is that the AutoArt model or is it another brand?
Well spotted! Yup AutoArt!
What about the not long discontinued Mitsubishi Evo? I heard recently that a delivery mileage Evo IX was sold in the US for something like $170,000.
Good one! And Mitsubishi just sold its U.K. classic fleet with record results!
@@BrownCarGuy oh wow, I didn't know that, but then Mitsubishi UK got all the best cars (or at least got them tuned through Ralliart once they'd arrived). I've got an Evo X so I was curious- not that I'm ever going to sell it.
Wasn't the 1979 Porsche 928 the first with 4 wheel mechanical steering?
Great comment! On the 928 it’s often described as a ‘passive’ rear wheel steering system, but it’s a very slight adjustment to pull the tyres in under braking and cornering. The Prelude was the first to have Active rear wheel steering and the first to do it mechanically in a production car. Thanks!!
Nissan Skyline GTR's. I just bought an R33 GTR before the prices become unreachable.
1980's Supercharged MR2 AW11... Built by Toyota, based on Lotus concept car and engine built by Toyota, based on Cosworth design.... What's not to love... Oh, and I have one 😁

Very nicely done sir!

Buying a white E55 Wagon tomorrow as an investment / Sunday driver
Very cool!
Is nobody worried about future emission laws and limitations for older petrol cars? Isnt this going to affect prices?
I believe it will make them rarer and hence even more valuable. Certainly for the foreseeable future.
ok, looked at the current reactions and, if not mistaken, nobody mensioned the Honda S2000. For me that is a true classic car, if not tiuned etc ... What do you think?
I absolutely adore the S2000, not yet appreciating as it should, but it will have its day!
1985 and older Fiat 124 Spiders, with preference for 1978 and older. Technically the later ones were renamed the 2000 Spider. Of the later ones that are special and notable are the Turbo, the supercharged Volumex, and the ones sold as Pininfarina Thats kinda 1983-1985.
Superb info - thanks!
Nissan cedric v6 is a very fine car I purchased one just a few weeks ago needs some work but not much. It is very rare in Europe and very hard to find one
Nice one!
That daily driver that will grab nostalgia, SAAB. Nobody will be able to estimate the price of a Viggen or Hirsch model in a few years, maybe a few years more if you’re a low mileage person. Modern Classics to me

Hey Brown Car Guy,
Do me a favour, you show some quite good photos of the cars you are talking about in your videos, but in a few seconds there gone, leave them up longer, please !

Hoping a 1970 Daimler Sovereign 2.8 L with 37.5 k miles on the clock is an investment, seeing as I've purchased one!
Indubitably!
Can't find any brown cars these days but if you did I'm sure that would be a classic
I am a British Motor Engineer in New Zealand, I have a 87 XJSC with only 118000KM V12. They only made about 3500 of these, mine rust free in top condition, here only worth 12000 pounds.
Keep hold of it. If it doesn't rise in value there, it'll eventually get to a point where it's worth selling to an international broker!
What’s your thoughts on the Nissan Cube? I personally love them and I’m thinking of investing in one
Yup - quirky and interesting, definitely worth investing in for the longer term!
porsche 914's, even the 4.0 with the VW air cooled engines - same as westfallia vans.
Good one!

Great approach! Good luck with the AE86 - would love to see a pic when you get it!
Nice Channel, i have just bought my first “classic” a red Mazda mx5 US version 1990. I know that their so many of them but they all rust like hell so hopefully it will be unique in about 10 years?
All the best

Good choice!
I just hope your right . And I don't take a loss .
Almost sold my m3 evo 95 coupe last year. Would be interesting to see what happens after the electric hype has gone.

I have jaguar xj6, 1989, and jaguar xj6 series 2, 1973. Are they worth keeping.?
Oh yes, very much so. In fact I'm rather jealous!

Dead right on new Defender/ Disco comparison. When will LR bring back the Defender?
How about the Alfa 75 particularly the 3 litre v6- the last of the rear wheel drive Alfa’s

Really like your interest in true Japanese classics, esp the late 80s Supra, 300ZX and LS400!. Good examples are scarce.
Thanks! 🙏🏽☺️ Yeah LS and 300ZX are hard to find but they’re out there, sadly 80s Supras, like the one I had, are even rarer
It's funny. Nobody mention the 1983-1985 Ford Sierra XR4i. Only 29.400 build.
I'm the lucky owner of two of them.
Beside my 1970 Triumph TR6, 2003 Porsche Boxster S and a 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera

Oooooooo Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!
I feel you buddy.
That is an awesome lineup!!
Mazdaspeed 2004, the only stock turbo Miata.
Hello Interesting video thank you. I was thinking to buy a Porsche 944 or 924 as my budget is £10,000 What do you think?
Great choice!
@@BrownCarGuy They're still climbing in value.. I'm willing to bet they're going to become as expensive as the 1969 to 1973 Datsun 510's.
How about an 1956 AC Aceca Ace ?
Valuable!
The Ford focus rs mk2 have gone up crazy in value in the last few months. Just wander how far they will keep going.
Well I don’t think they’ll go down!
Hi. How do you rate Lexus LC430?
@@BrownCarGuy I'll keep savings for my 308 xjr or a mk 2 st focus 🤔

Oh wow! I wouldn’t like to say. But originality is always highly valued! 👍🏽😃
@@dyer2cycle and become rarer too. So yes, definitely. I’ve nothing against modding classics though if it means people will keep these beautiful shapes on the roads! 👍🏽😃

Hi, need some advice. I have a 2010 , Porsche 997 Gen2 Carrera s manual (non sunroof), 2018 purchase price was 33k with 90k miles . I was advised in 2018 that this was the car to go for and even in autotrader I only see 5-6 on sale (of this spec) as most cars are PDK version. I do know whether hold on or get to get the F80 M3 Comp. What do you think?
Great car. Ultimately values will go up, I think they are but perhaps not as dramatically as you’d probably hope. It is probably worth keeping for the long run. On the other hand if you really desire an M3 Comp, then go for it. Another awesome piece of kit. And again in the long run should hold its value though maybe won’t appreciate as much as the Porsche I suspect. But follow your heart!
@@BrownCarGuy Yeh enjoying the car is also an important aspect of ownership. Thanks for pointing this out. cheers
