He was in charge of the schools chickens (don't know why we had those) and when they hatched the chicks were put under one of those heat lamps and he would in addition to the lamps always give them these long encouraging speeches in order to help them not only grow physically stronger but mentally. @@MoeSlislack I mean if u Wana get technical..it actually is derived from the hammurabi code...centuries before Christianity even existed. I was at a job corps in Grand Rapids in the early 80s for diesel mechanics. One thing they didn’t tell you is that over 80% of the student body is there as an alternative to jail. This was very unfortunate to the other 20% who had no criminal records and who went there to better their lives- many of them had fallen prey to the gangs at these facilities. I saw some very horrible things there.
I went in 2017 to the one in clearfield. There were a lot of people that were there as an alternative to jail, but they all had a specific dorm to themselves and were seperated into different CP's from people who entered willingly. I am sorry your experience was bad, but I met some amazing people and met my wife there. I also got certified in composite tech, and make good money now. Sometimes it sucked, usually got 6 hours of sleep a night minus the weekends, but I think they have made a lot of positive changes since the 80's.
I imagine Urban Corps to be pretty similar, but they usually do community service type work, cleaning up trash and whatnot. I also see a lot more young women in Urban Corps uniforms out on the streets doing that work than what used to move through Job Corps bitd. Maybe it's gotten better.
The part that blows me away the most is that, even after having spent so much time in prison, she’s still 100% self absorbed and seems to have zero remorse for her actions.
She tried suffocating someone and almost succeeded and then she vowed to be successful the next time. This woman is psycho and needs to be in solitary before they off her. Let her suffer mentally for a few years
@@subliminal128 On August 24, 2001, Pike attacked and attempted to strangle fellow inmate Patricia Jones with a shoe string, and nearly succeeded in choking her to death. She was convicted of attempted first degree murder on August 12, 2004.
Had the same thought when they said that with ptsd like thats a reason to take someone’s life so brutally. Her behavior afterwards also says alot about who she is. Trying to play victim. I guess its human nature to do anything not to die. I wonder if she even feels remorse at all for what she did most probably not
Poor Colleen. There is just something about what was done to that poor girl that really angers me. Being lured out to an isolated spot, suddenly realizing what is really happening, and then pleading with your killers for your life after they first attack you, only for them to proceed to slowly torture you for the next hour before you finally pass away. The terror and fear she must have experienced, being slashed and bludgeoned. An innocent person who just happened to cross the path of a vicious low life, and had their whole future stolen for nothing. So sad.
Cold determination, sadistic control , cold blood murder prearranged, executed their victim slowly without remorse . Horror Heads who kill in a cruel way , they would hate to have this done to themselves. what they dont seem to understand is consequences and I'm glad there are . Life behind bars may keep someone else from suffering such a horrific death . Good riddance.
In psychopathology you only see yourself and your needs. Others are just objects or obtacles. It makes perfect sense when you understand that context. I have several in my life. They are more common than people think but most will never go as far as murder.
There's nothing wrong in feeling empathy for someone in that situation. It doesn't necessarily mean you condone what they did or disagree with their punishment, it's just what makes a normal person different than someone like them.
@@ProCoRat A normal person doesn't have empathy for someone in Christa's position. She took a life and is complaining about her living situation. What about her victim? They wanted to live. How much you want to bet that Colleen would agree to come back to life if she had to live the rest of her life in Christa's position, behind bars. Christa deserves nothing from anyone except for some voltage coursing through her veins.
Just remember one little thing: When someone tries to play the "poor me, poor me" card and tries to gain sympathy, look at what they did. Read the details, look at the photos.
The verbal description was enough. I feel zero sympathy for her, and when she's finally put to death she will still have a more merciful death than she gave Colleen.
This case is one that angers me the most. Christa wants people to sympathize with her when she ripped the life out of someone who didn't do shit to her. Hope she stays where she is and never released.
She was literally dancing over murdering her & in her letter thought she deserved a medal for killing quickly despite torturing her for hours. Shes s_____m (UA-cam kept automatically deleting my comment until I censored that word. Guess we cant even use non curse words on here anymore, so pathetic)
Yeah. Not only did she rip her life from her, she strung somebody along for the ride potentially ruining their life too depending or not if it was his idea as well. But, main thing imo in which it is particularly angering is the way in which she took her life - pure hell and torture. She did it for her own sick pleasure and she's extremely wreckless and evil. Throw away the key I say, she's not capable of reforming it seems just by the way she talks.
No remorse, no accountability, no empathy, no critical thinking skills - but an overabundance of denial and cruelty. Oh yeah - lots of "Crocodile Tears" too. Mike, I love your channel - very addictive. Thanks so much for this upload and looking forward to more true crime stories from you.
@KahlosHack That's where you're wrong. I was brought up by a psychopath - she caused congenital birth defects in me. Then, as I grew up she abused me - psychologically, physically, sexually. She tried to indoctrinate me with her obscene beliefs while I suffered constant medical problems that she created while I was in utero. I've been called everything vile and disgusting in the book. You can't even begin to believe the absolute garbage she wrongfully accused me of. I grew up to be a resilient adult, albeit chronically ill (her fault) - but I dealt with all the trauma and pain - I paid for any and all medications/procedures/dental implants/therapy (psychotherapy, physiotherapy) I needed, put myself through university and worked in healthcare. I give to charities and I've even donated my own time to help complete strangers in St. John Ambulance. So excuse me if I don't buy into your remark. At all. I think that's the problem here. People seem to make all kinds of excuses for themselves in life - instead of just getting off their asses and being accountable for their actions.
I think her tears were real, but they were for herself. The reality of the consequences came crashing down of her, all the freedoms that she took for granted that were suddenly ripped away from her, knowing in that moment that the end of your road is near (even if it turned out to be otherwise), it all hit her at once. If she regretted her actions at all, it was only for herself, not for her accomplices and damn sure not for her victim.
@@PaleHorseShabuShabu Yup. I would like to think even if I was a sociopath/psychopath and did not value life that I would at least value my own enough to not want to go to prison and smart enough to not take such dumb risks. Makes me wonder how many people out there like that there are, who would have zero problem with taking life but simply dont because they arent arrogant enough to think they can get away with it and value their freedom too much.
No! She cannot 'just' hug her momma. Selfish pos, she didn't allow her victim to 'just' hug her own momma. My soul cries just thinking of her victim and her victims momma. I'm a mom and this is a nightmare.
"Defense lawyers say it's too early to set an execution date." Wth, it's been two and a half decades. They've waited way too long in this case. This girl is a dangerous psychopath. She's even a danger to others in prison.
I feel like thats justice, she will ran out of her youth and become an old withered woman and then be set free... only to put to death. Beautiful. What isn't beautiful however, is her hair and make up. Im pretty sure she's wearing lipstick and those weird blue eyeshadow 1990s people wear in the old day in one of the pic. Cut off her hair, why on earth an inmate get to be fashionable when male inmate often have to be bald most of the time?
It's because of activist judges on their respective circuit court benches delaying it. Judges are lifetime appointees, so all it takes is just one ideologue who personally opposes the death penalty to gum up the works and slow down the process. And it can cuts both ways a lot of the time. I've seen staunch conservative judges devout in their Christian faith oppose it on the grounds of govt sponsored execution still being a violation one of the Ten Commandments just as much as I've seen the Left wing judges do it.
@@Britton_Thompson Maybe the Christian judge is waiting for her to find Jesus before she is executed for her crimes, that would be a nice saving grace.
I really appreciate the tone you set Mike. While it’s respectful to victims it’s also light hearted but still reflects the gravity of the events. You’re channel is the one true crime channel I can watch whenever there is a new video while still watching out for my own mental health.
@@Lola-mn9oz Why? Just why? You know you'd not dream of saying that in public, or to her face, as someone like me would plant you in the ground and water you until you started growing leaves.
Yes! We are paying to clothe, feed and house these people. If definitelyone thousand percent guilty, get rid of them. If put on death row, it should be done quickly. Jails are overcrowded enough.
From what I've read, death sentences cost tax payers sooo much more than a life-in-prison sentence. They are given multiple avenues to appeal their death sentences and take up time in courts and tax payer money. It would be cheaper to house them for life rather than allowing them appeal after appeal and lawyer time, etc.
This one stuck with me from all those years ago - she is beyond description and has been violent in prison also and tried escaping. She is the package deal. Let's remember this as Colleen's case and not give Pike any more thought.
Christa: "I'm in here because of the actions of three people..." The other two people did not cut Colleen with a box cutter multiple times, bludgeon her to death with a piece of asphalt, nor kept a piece of her skull as a souvenir, but hey you're right... you are only responsible for your actions and your actions killed someone in a very gruesome manner, so it only fair play you get killed in a humane manner!
Goes to show that being delusional crazy doesn’t mean you don’t know what you did was wrong and plead insanity. A twisted sense of justification doesn’t mean we all go by your definition of justification. It means you can go ahead and die on that hill because that’s your CHOICE alone!
"I don't deserve to die for the actions of three individuals when I'm only one person". What kind of logic is that? So if a group of people collectively commit murder with common purpose, then each group members' punishment decreases, the bigger the group? Thanks for this episode. I am so sorry Colleen went through this. I can't imagine how her mum must be feeling. Greetings from a sunny South Africa!
That was indeed exceptionally weird logic. I thought she was going to say that she was so young when it happened or something like that...what a strange argument. And she's had decades to figure one out!!
Meanwhile, Christa was the main antagonist. If not for Christa's insane jealousy, Colleen wouldn't have been murdered. Colleen's murder centered around Christa's jealousy. Yeah, Christa, you're only one person ..... the one person who set everything in motion.
The taxpayers of her state have been shouldering the burden of her upkeep long enough - feeding, clothing, medical, providing her with an opportunity to breath when she forfeited the right to do so a very long time ago. She's been alive 20 years too long. Makes me sick. Good video, Mike. Hugs
Death penalty sentences actually cost significantly more money than just life in prison because of the multiple appeals most death row inmates are entitled to before execution and America still ends up executing people who are posthumously exonerated. Plus the lethal injection medication is expensive and extremely hard to get ahold of now. It even gets in the way of extradition cases because multiple nations won't extradite to countries with the death penalty. Overall its just a waste of resources and carries undue risk. I say save money by lowering sentencing for non violent offenders (drugs, crimes of desperation, petty crime, etc) focus on rehabilitating those people and decreasing the barriers to reentering society. For serious crimes, violent crimes, and the sick fucks keep those ones locked up and don't waste the money on the pre execution appeals.
I felt really bad when I was watching her cry after being sentenced to death and begging for her mom, and then I realize that I'm looking at an absolute monster that's only upset because she's facing consequences for viciously ripping an innocent child away from their own mom without remorse, now my sadness did a whole backflip and became happiness.
@@stevenhale2935 Yes, happiness. Well now she'll get well rotting away in her cell for what she did. She deserved every second on that pain, and so did her mom for raising an absolute monster, and even then that pain is nowhere near comparable to what she did to colleen or her parents. Baffled on how you feel any sympathy at all, do you really think those tears were out of remorse after she wrote a letter 2 days later joking about what she did? or do you just feel bad for her because she's fucked in the head? well if so, you shouldn't as mental illness isn't an excuse for brutally murdering a person unless you're in a complete psychotic break without remembering what you did afterwards and even then it's still horrible. And she's clearly conscious and aware enough to know exactly what she has done and even JOKE about it afterwards, that's MORE than enough for me to lose all sympathy.
@@AspireGMD you can't call anyone out for being psychotic when you take pleasure at someone crying when they find out theyre going to be electrocuted to death. @@stevenhale2935 sorry but millions of people deal with mental illnesses and hardships in their life but they don’t go and murder somebody because of it….she murdered somebody and then wants to cry like a baby about it? she’s pathetic. she ripped a young girls life away in the most gruesome way u could imagine all over a man. she deserves it all and the fact she made joke about it afterwards just goes to show she felt no remorse and she was just crying for herself. absolutely evil. why are u trying to defend her just because she had a shitty life💀
I've watched this twice and no one has said anything about the guy. Lets not forget that he would run after Colleen when she tried to get away and would bring her back so they could continue to torture her. He should have got the same sentence. Everyone is right. She showed no remorse, she was a monster, and she deserved the sentence she was given. They really do give these people way too many appeals.
I lived in Knoxville for 20 years and lived there when this happened. A friend of mine was an attorney who worked with Krista's attorney. He met her and said she was the most evil person he had ever met in his life. He was waiting in the area between the courtroom and where they kept the prisoners. He was waiting for her attorney while she was testifying for her appeal. She was speaking and crying and pleading that she was regretful of what she did. It wrapped up and she was still in tears. Once she hit that door and it closed her attitude changed in 5 seconds she started laughing and cursing and saying how she was glad she killed that stupid b*tch and she would do it again. Kristi Pike is an absolute soulless monster. Any remorse she shows is purely performance. If you are brave I'd love to see you cover the Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom Jr case. It is a really controversial Knoxville case and what happened to those young adults was absolutely horrifying. Channon died naked stuffed in a trashcan with her face completely taped and having been repeatedly injected with some type of cleaning solution. It apparently took her nearly a day to die in that trashcan. Knoxville is a lovely town accept when it's not--then it's awful. Also, check out the "Zoo Man" case in Knoxville.
Everything you said about Christa was hearsay. Pretty much like high school locker room talk. My best friends, sister's half brother's attorney's assistant told my best friends halfs brothers little cousins neighbor that.... 🙄 im not sticking up for Christa, I don't know her or what type of person she is but what I'm saying is that you have as much a clue about who she is as any of us strangers. The things u just said about her wouldn't even be allowed to say in a courtroom because it holds no value. It's just a rumor you supposedly heard.

I first came across this channel early last year, and I got through the videos up at that point fairly quickly - I don't know if it is still up, but there was a cute one where Mike uses a fidget spinner. I hope he has kept it live, it's great seeing how a channel grew.
Exactly when the tables are turned they don't want to die. Just as Colleen begged for her life that this baboon took. Karma, except with the death penalty they give you a sedative first to make you sleepy and ask if they have anything to say. Much more human than their victims ever get. Yelling you know who is doing this to you? With each stab of the blade. They should get what they did to their victims.
2yrs later and still about same, there is still news articles about her as of just a month ago. No big changes, she's still on death row and still no set date.
When she cries and says she wanted to hug her mom I laughed. The irony…. Just like her victim who was crying and wanted to hug her mom before she died. Thanks for the upload! I’m surprised there isn’t more promotional ads before Christmas
Exactly, when she was crying, I just thought that's how her victim would of been, and she would of been laughing. Why sentence somebody to death if they aren't going to go through with it? Fry her already
@@kingcosworth2643 Rotting in prison, knowing she’s going to fry one day, is a way better punishment than a quick death. She’s been dying inside a little for decades.
@@bradlemmond I don’t think she was faking. She’s a narcissist that only cares about herself. I’m sure she thought as a cute little white girl she would only get prison time, so finding out she had to pay real consequences must have been a real hard blow for her. She doesn’t understand the irony.
I laughed when she was crying while getting sentenced. Not gonna be dancing and singing with the skull fragments of your victims now are ya? It's amazing how well they can play the victim card, crying and begging for the very things they denied their victims.
I don't think that's the proper response to any of this any more than her dancing and singing. It's a sad situation overall. Not excusing her behavior, but the fact that people can take some kind of glee or delight while dishing out retribution is the kind of thing that leads people to commit murder when they feel like 'justice' isn't being served.
@@angrysloth What you say makes moral sense, and no one should delight in the death of anyone. I personally, am against the death penalty on a moral level. However, laughing at a cruel, sadistic torturer and murder as they weep is not a great failing, in my opinion. Kelly Perkins laughing at this killer's tears is much more honest, and frankly better, then the legions of internet tough guys and gals who post how they want to kill predatory rapists and killers.

In cases like this, where the evidence is overwhelming, there shouldn’t be any opportunity for appeal. They should be bumped straight to the front of the line. Why waste the taxpayers and systems time and money over someone worthless like this.
I don't think any appeal in cases like these have as much to do with total innocence versus absolutely guilty, more with an attorney not being aware of some law, or recent amendment of some similar case's ruling by the Supreme Court, any psychological findings and other details that have the possibility to find someone just a bit less 'worthless'. As the American "Justice" system is known to be bias towards money and influence, and as the mental health care in the US, as opposed to most all other comparable, modern countries, is not a tax payers (all citizens) provided care issue, which benefits the whole, but here are just allowed to suffer and do suffering unto others (all of us), as to become a source of income for prisons and jails, lawyers and judges, police and ER services. I rather "my" tax dollars go to helping who can be helped, as early as possible, than the innumerable burdens, pains and financial costs of our Government choosing to allow suffering of those and by those, to all of us, in so many ways, just so they can purchase another war machine with the "saved" tax money, to then also financially benefit in so many more ways once the mental sh*t hits the fan..
I actually personally knew Christa and Colleen I attended the same Job Corps center. I got along with both girls. I always got a weird vibe from Christa she actually claimed to be Wicken. I remember when this happened. My uncle worked in homicide for KPD and was on the scene the next day after Slemmer’s body had been discovered. He said they couldn’t tell whether they were looking at her face or the back of her head there was so much blunt force trauma to her skull, brain matter was clearly visible, just absolutely horrible. Pike and her boyfriend cut her all to pieces. It laid a 3 inch wide gap in her throat from where Pike repeatedly slashed at her neck nearly cutting her trachea in two. I’ve seen the autopsy and crime scene photos, it’s just horrible. When it shows the news clip of the reporter standing on the pile of broken asphalt, her body was found laying a little back and to the right of that pile. The reporter, from where he was standing on that pile of broken asphalt, could have literally looked to his left and down and he would have been looking right at her. She had no shirt and no bra on, just jeans and tennis shoes. Pike had no remorse for what she did.

I’m familiar with this case, the ridiculous thing is there wasn’t really any real evidence that Colleen even had an interest in TeDarryl, Christa just perceived it for some strange reason
Yes, Justyn, it IS ridiculous. This is the thinking of a malignant narcissist. These creatures want all of the attention on themselves all of the time. Like satan itself, that wanted the attention and adoration that God receives. Christa saw qualities in Colleen that she lacked. She was scared and full of rage.

If I were a Judge, I'd lose my job on the first case I had that was like this. As soon as Christa started crying at her sentencing, I'd have lost my shit. She did everything she did to Colleen, laughed and smiled and danced afterward, and then she has the nerve to cry when she's sentenced to a much tamer manner of death than her victim. Absolutely ridiculous that, often times, the people who cause the most harm can't handle the consequences of their actions, and that those consequences usually can't hold a candle to the actions that wrought them.
I met Christa on a field trip in college when we visited Riverbend. She was making mac n cheese in the microwave and gave our class a piece of good advice. Watch who you keep as friends. All it takes is one wrong friend to change your path wrong.

I remember this case being all over the news. People avoided that park (Tyson park) for a long time afterward. Another case from around Knoxville that is pretty infamous include the awful murders of Channon Christian and Chris Newsom. No one deserves what they went through. Seeing the devastation it caused their poor parents was soul crushing.
This one hits differently since I actually attended a job corps here in Oklahoma and the place was literally Drama City. There wasn't a day without people arguing over something stupid. Nothing like this though, this is just crazy.
"Knoxville, minus the "Johnny", Tennessee" - lol, love Mike's timing, subtle pop-culture references and jokes. It helps make this one of the few true crime shows that don't leave me too freaked out to go to bed.

Yeah that’s crap happens all over - in the Uk they like to put people in charity shops
That is sad that they tried to rehabilitate people with skills and jobs. Seems like most people already made their choice in life
I went in 2017 to the one in clearfield.

Yes! We are paying to clothe, feed and house these people. If definitelyone thousand percent guilty, get rid of them. If put on death row, it should be done quickly. Jails are overcrowded enough.
From what I've read, death sentences cost tax payers sooo much more than a life-in-prison sentence. How so?

The things u just said about her wouldn't even be allowed to say in a courtroom because it holds no value. It's just a rumor you supposedly heard.
a fate worse than death itself, those poor innocents, it keeps you up with your hair standing on end.
@Over It true
I love the confidence you have gained as you grow here on UA-cam. One of my ALL TIME favourite channels. Thank you for all your hard work 😁
Shut up Tinker.
Come a long way since his first huh!!
I know right. He's actually professional and relaxed which is so much harder than it looks. I noticed there's another channel trying to copy his style somewhat, but they fail - just don't have that Irish charisma I guess. I first came across this channel early last year, and I got through the videos up at that point fairly quickly - I don't know if it is still up, but there was a cute one where Mike uses a fidget spinner. I hope he has kept it live, it's great seeing how a channel grew.
Confidence is in his pants not from making UA-cam videos.
SO TRUE! Mike Oh, did his homework.
I really love the moment in cases like this when reality sinks in for those people at the time of sentencing
Meeee TOO.
Same I love seeing the victims get justice and this time for once justice was served appropriately
@@breadevlin3781 She’s in Tennessee so she’s getting the electric chair not lethal injection. She’s gonna feel pain if only for a few seconds.
2yrs later and still about same, there is still news articles about her as of just a month ago. No big changes, she's still on death row and still no set date.
Mike is such a cutie with a heart of gold. We are all thankful for him!
@@kingcosworth2643
Rotting in prison, knowing she’s going to fry one day, is a way better punishment than a quick death. She was crying when she received the death sentence, so she cared about her own life. Even if she doesn’t care anymore, that caring was slowly drained from her. She’s been dying inside a little for decades.
I was thinking if I were the judge I would have told her to shut up the (probably fake) crying, then that I'm sure Colleen loved her mother, too.
@@bradlemmond I don’t think she was faking. She’s a narcissist that only cares about herself. I’m sure she thought as a cute little white girl she would only get prison time, so finding out she had to pay real consequences must have been a real hard blow for her. She doesn’t understand the irony.
@@nicolehealy7833 Yeah, she probably wasn't faking, but I still wanted the judge to tell her to shut up.
I laughed when she was crying while getting sentenced. Not gonna be dancing and singing with the skull fragments of your victims now are ya? It's amazing how well they can play the victim card, crying and begging for the very things they denied their victims.
Absolutely
You a fly ass broad. Ain’t never seen a dame as pretty as you.
It's hard to show deep, cherished empathy for someone who did such a terrible and evil thing. Kelly Perkins laughing at this killer's tears is much more honest, and frankly better, then the legions of internet tough guys and gals who post how they want to kill predatory rapists and killers.
I know
Enjoyed your telling of this tale.
Thank you, Mike!
There were mean kids when I went to school (yes, we had indoor plumbing) but I never heard even a whisper of anything like this.

Julius Jones is a good example of this
I agree!
Amen
it costs more to kill them than to not if tax payer money is your issue.
I actually personally knew Christa and Colleen I attended the same Job Corps center. I got along with both girls. I always got a weird vibe from Christa she actually claimed to be Wicken. I was also in the culinary program with Tadarryl. Colleen dated a friend of mine as well. I had just completed the program 3 months before all this happened and was living a few miles away from the center.

If that was my relative, I'd be mortified to learn of an officer sharing pictures of her dead body with his family.

I'm not as good with words as you, but u stayed exactly how I felt after watching this last video 😉
I can't imagine what poor Colleen went through in that hour, her fear, knowing they were going to kill her.
What’s disturbing about these killers is the fact they cry on the trial not because of remorse but because they are scared for themselves and their future- how selfish
Serves her right

I’m familiar with this case, the ridiculous thing is there wasn’t really any real evidence that Colleen even had an interest in TeDarryl, Christa just perceived it for some strange reason
She is prolly very delusional and built it up in Her mind until she firmly believed it was true .
@@war32mec I agree. Some people also just look for any reason to hate, because hate is all they know.
Yes, Justyn, it IS ridiculous. This is the thinking of a malignant narcissist. These creatures want all of the attention on themselves all of the time.
I watch for "let's give it a go" and "love you". I don't really remember the stories. I don't even remember Mike's face or name between episodes, but I do remember his voice. After she's sentenced to death and the bailiff leads her away, you can still hear her crying after the door closes. And that's the sweetest cry of them all.

@@aidanschram9652 that's very true. My childhood was pretty rough but I tend to think about the good times. A lot of stuff makes me sad. But also a lot of things make me happy.
