When I lived in Anchorage, I picked up Native women several times when they were hitchhiking. Some were totally wasted and being a woman myself, I didn't want some lunatic picking them up and hurting them. I'm betting that's how he "met" them. May they R.I.P.
I lived up in far northern Saskatchewan about 27 years ago now and bc I didn't drive at that time, I'd get rides down to the city with various people (usually friends, but... not always). The 'not friend' I came down with one Christmas stopped to pick up a couple of teenagers and told me that it was basically an unspoken code that at that time of year, if someone is hitching, you stop and pick 'em up, bc you never know if anyone else will be coming along. And if it comes out that you didn't stop and sth happened, well... It stuck by me all this time later, tho I've never actually been back up there since I left my job there a couple of months later. (and then moved to Europe, where I've been ever since until last year.)
@@CarynGibson-ey1xn I've had to hitchhike - was with my bf of the time; his jeep had broken down while we were off-roading in the Kananaskis (Alberta) but someone was nice enough to stop when many more didn't. He did admit if I hadn't been there, he wouldn't have stopped at all. But this was about 3-4 years before I moved up north and I guess when people were still a little more trusting. But even then, we always heard stories and worried about that kind of thing. When I was working in Banff, I was told do not stop for anyone, no matter who it is. You could always call the police to get them when you're back home... but I never saw anyone on any of my trips home. 🤷 I was very lucky.
I've never picked up anyone. Even if I saw a woman I don't think I would stop for her. You just never know. Maybe if there was a kid with a parent I would stop or call the police to let them know someone needs help.
I grew up in Southeast Alaska in the 70’s and we hitchhiked all the time with our parents permission. However, our town was very small, most people all knew each other, and the only way out of the place was by boat or plane. 50 years later, the population is pretty much the same, but I don’t think I’d take a chance hitchhiking nowadays.
For some people, like me, it's the only 'I love ya' they get to hear. And so it does fill a void and makes you feel a little loved 🤗 I don't care if you don't know me Mike. We are friends now. Period!
Never fails to make me laugh when murderers call the police when somebody commits a crime against them - hes literally out here killing people but when someone steals his things he thinks “hey, they can’t do that, that’s illegal! :(“
I know someone like that, she knows how to work the system, systematically stealing and acquiring money and aid she's not entitled to. Her brother borrowed $20 and then became unreachable by phone. She raged on and on about that $20 and went by his house at least on 2 occasions. She finally "caught" him and then proudly announced that she got her $20 back. I cut off association with her 5 years ago, she use to be a fun person...
At first I thought it was a cover story he made up, so that if the ad card was found it could be returned to him easily without snooping. But that doesn't account for "HOMICIDE" being written on it. Unless before the woman, someone else found it and was horrified and labeled it and threw it away? -- I think Mike probably has the right idea. The thieves didn't want to incriminate themselves, but wanted it found and turned into police. It's not like someone's going to find that and keep it for their personal collection. The chances of it alarming someone and being turned into cops was very very high.....
The number of murdered and missing indigenous women in Canada is appalling, and even worse, the police don't seem to care because they're natives. I was so glad he told us what he could about the victims. They deserve more than to be swept under the rug. They matter, their lives mattered, they were loved and are mourned.

It's a story that's been told thousands of times, but it never gets easier to hear about. No one deserves this. Race doesn't matter. I mean they definitely shouldn't be forgotten about, or treated like lesser peoples just because they're indigenous.. that kind of behavior is disgusting and shouldn't happen. Unless that's the reason why he went after them, was because of their race, I dont think its relevant. We're all human.
@@I_am_a_cat_ It's very relevant because time and again it's been shown that the authorities do not investigate missing native cases properly, and that's exactly why so many of these killers do target native women.

Glenn Kirschner of UA-cam's "Justice Matters" is helping out doing a special for HBO documentary about why minority women don't get any media attention when they're either missing or been murdered. That should be interesting.
It's a depressing reoccurring topic in true crime podcasts too. Its so sad how a lot of the families of these women are the ones taking charge on these cases.
I'm pretty sure that, now that he has been caught and the evidence is overwhelming and he'll go to prison for the rest of his life anyway, he's now going to drag it out in trial to sadistically re-live his crimes through the evidence presented and watch his victims' families suffer. I think you're right, he has more victims on those SD cards.
I would assume since he has confessed to the crimes, the trial is for his sentencing, not a conviction. However, I suppose even if he confessed, he could still plead not guilty. It would be really, really stupid to do this given all the evidence and his confession, but recording the murder and leaving in your vehicle to be stolen is not very smart either. If he is going to trial for a conviction, it will be a short trial!
What may happen as we've seen happen before is he will retract his confession be found guilty anyway they deny any involvement for the rest of his life .
This is spot on. I follow this case closely in fact I suggested it. Yes it is being drug out..the evidence is so overwhelming I can't see why he would need to go to trial and take plea. Either it's life. COVID hasn't helped this case move along. Maybe someone will take him out in prison and so is all a favor. I agree. He has more victims. This is not his first rodeo. Such an idiot for dropping the card. I always thought that was a crock of shit and think his wife turned it in but made a deal to remain anonymous. She's been in the media here all over tell her story about how she had no idea
@@amycuaresma Interesting point about the wife turning it in, I hadn't thought of that. I was thinking that it would be beyond careless for him to have dropped it in a parking lot. I agree that it's likely not his first rodeo, he's too old to be a novice.
It's always very telling when someone injects the word THAT into a sentence. Like "you're not that mean" or "you're not that fat". His wife said "I've never seen anything THAT dark in him"
After watching so many crime shows which I love, mike is the best channel of all … he’s witty and does an amazing job informing us …. Definitely the best
I think they regret confessing after realizing they’re not just going to get a warning and be let go. Sitting in jail and realizing they’re going to be tried for a serious crime, they start thinking they can claim they were coerced or tricked into confessing to crimes they didn’t commit. Cops definitely have and do use psychological tactics to get people to confess to crimes they didn’t commit, but I’ve rarely seen it done with a serial killer which this guy most certainly is. Plus, you know, there’s the whole video of him raping and murdering a woman. Guess he could claim it’s not him but a deep fake. 🙄
You see this cute movie on youtube and go : "I don;t understand how they can plead not guily..." next week there is another one about someone innocent being convicted and let go 15 years later on new evidence (usually dna) that exonerates them and then all of you go : "But they pleaded not-guilty, so why did they confess in the first place?" And still none of you think that there is a problem with the nazi-designesd interrogation tacttics in your country???
your theory about the SD card is probably right; whoever stole the stuff out of his truck probably didn't want to go to the cop shop and say "look what I found when I was stealing stuff" so they wrote what was on it and dropped it at the corner of a grocery store, a busy street corner.
The only issue I have with the theory is how the thief knew which hotel it was filmed in. I suppose there could have been some identifiable feature the thief recognized, but the chance of that is slim.
Under normal circumstances, I would completely agree, but I feel like there are a couple things to consider. The person that found the SD card also knew what hotel it was filmed in based on the carpet pattern. Strange of a coincidence as it seems, it happens. Also, Anchorage is the biggest city here, but it only has barely 300,000 ppl. It's not huge and there isn't a wide array of budget-friendly lodging options compared to the Continental U.S. What we got is what we got, we can't drive anywhere better if we felt so inclined. In fact, Anchorage is the 'better' that ppl drive to, if possible. It is not possible for me and it sucks lol I have been there a few times, but I digress. So the chances of locals overlapping stays with other locals in hotels is believable to me. As well as having to stay at the same places repeatedly for lack of options.

@@annabananna77 I think this also refrences him killing a native woman. The RCMP do not give a rats ass about indigenous women going missing or being murdered most of the time.
My theory: 1) Thief broke into his car. 2) Thief checked the goods. Noticed the SD card was full of murder content. 3) Thief wrote Murder at Midtown Marriott on it. 4) Thief wanted no trial to lead back to him so he could still be a thief, but also wanted the murderer caught, so he left it where people might see it. 5) Woman found SD card, checked it, called the police. 6) Murderer wanted to get his SD card back and so called the police. If he were a victim they would not check the contents of his valuables, giving him a way to obtain his content safely. 7) Police connected the dots based on his accent and he was mega screwed. In short, bad luck for him/good luck for us got this guy caught. What a case.

It's so funny, I would love for someone to try that just so I can blast them in the face with my ak47. If you're going to be on my property get ready to pay the debt
Bless you for doing that.

On the rare occasion he doesn't say it, I'm like 'awwww 🥺' lol, you're right when you say it's so genuine, it really makes me smile when he says it 🤗
I love it, too. It's sweetness after the sour subject we've watched.
For some people, like me, it's the only 'I love ya' they get to hear. And so it does fill a void and makes you feel a little loved 🤗 I don't care if you don't know me Mike. We are friends now. Period!
Hey Mike,,, really appreciate when you say “and she was loved”. That’s so amazing. Thank you
Yawn.....yeah judging by her record she seemed like a real peach.🤣
The cognitive dissonance and entitlement are mind-boggling.

I love how Mike always goes into the personal life of the victims in good taste, like a final way to remember the lost.
The number of murdered and missing indigenous women in Canada is appalling, and even worse, the police don't seem to care because they're natives. At the end of the day, it's an evil, sick, twisted man taking advantage of a young woman who deserved better.

There’s actually no register for specifically native women who are missing (in the US). We don’t even know how many are missing currently.

I can never get my head around people who admit to all the crimes then say "not guilty" at pleading, the inconsistency hurts my brain.

your theory about the SD card is probably right; whoever stole the stuff out of his truck probably didn't want to go to the cop shop and say "look what I found when I was stealing stuff" so they wrote what was on it and dropped it at the corner of a grocery store, a busy street corner.
There is honor among some thieves.
Or gave it to the person who called it in.
The only issue I have with the theory is how the thief knew which hotel it was filmed in. I suppose there could have been some identifiable feature the thief recognized, but the chance of that is slim.
@@janedoe6181 idk, those carpets were ugly as hell, so he might have recognized them lol

It's nice so many of us refuse to let her be forgotten 💕
Has the murderer of Amber Tuccaro been caught? I know her story, I think the man who picked her up hitchhiking and the last to see her is the killer and he's dodgy.
@@skybluedreams77 Yeah I think a lot of people would think that the guy who picked her up was the killer.
Sad such a beautiful place has more than its share of sick, sadists. So evil.
May Mike and all his fans stay safe.
sadly remote location and density atracts this kind of people. There are serial killers in Alaska and psychopaths like nowhere else...
This Channel just keeps getting better, how is it even possible?
You're incredible Mike.
The SA police need to check their cold case files , he defo isn't a first-time killer. Riep to the victim.😢
I bet he's glad he didn't commit those heinous acts in Canada where if convicted he'd probably have to serve an astonishing 5 or 6 years in prison!
What that doesn't make sense,. surely if what you are saying is true he would have wished he had committed them in Canada, missed a trick there he's probably thinking?
@@sheenamaclean8324 I think the OP was being sarcastic
@@sheenamaclean8324 i think it’s a joke about how many canadian murders and abusers get off easily even if convicted and guilty. i think i saw one case about two teenagers killing one of the twos mom so they can be together or whatever and they only got 12 years, for premeditated murder!
@@annabananna77 I think this also refrences him killing a native woman. The RCMP do not give a rats ass about indigenous women going missing or being murdered most of the time.
My theory:
1) Thief broke into his car.
Yeah too damn right, what a case. Thieves are not good people, but sometimes they're not totally bad either.
Thief or hero was riding in his car and stole his gopro according to the investigation.
The native women with red handprints on their mouths really broke me. Doing a deep dive on missing native women will really shake anyone to the core. Their cases are either dismissed, underreported, or badly handled by law enforcement.
A lot of them go missing on the reservation and the rez cops don’t care.
Why do you think they are treated like that?
Because a subjugated people will always put their misery on the only people below them, members of their own community.
@@justintodd5145 they can just blame cops, racism, the white man. R8p, murder, incest, etc are rampant because there is no accountability its swept under the rug and if you address it you're ostracized
Yep exactly gas lighting is a major issue along with class they tend to pick victims young and usually make them lifelong victims until they finally meet someone like this guy .
Its really heartbreaking how many indigenous womens cases have gone unsolved, many missing, not reported missing or murdered. Yet hardly any attention to these cases.
May they rest in peace, and condolences to the families and friends. 🌷
I do not understand. Does being indigenous make you more special?

Oh. Oh! I remember when my cousin told me about this story (he was working up in Alaska at the time). It's hard to believe that someone could make such a stupid mistake. If you are collecting "trophies", evidence that could convict you, how could you not care enough to make sure to keep it safe and protect your identity? Lol. I'm glad he was that stupid though. He definitely needed to be caught.
I’d moved to Anchorage in August 2019 just before this happened, I was driving for Lyft and was so scared something would happen.
Alaska is dangerous if you’re a woman.
There are so many stupid things these criminals do that I am glad they are doing. I hate to even mention them to give em more ideas
Most serial killers always take a " token" from the victim to remind them.
@@comedienne_historian I’ve heard this, I’m moving to anchorage in March. Do you have any advice on places to avoid alone as a female, or any stories to share?

Your channel has became my favorite, from the way you explain everything, little humor mixed in as well as not continuously asking for like, shares, and subscribers. 💚
Thank you so much for doing this story. I'm moving back to Alaska next month after having been in Oregon since 2017 so I had not heard about this. I'm a Lakota woman, member of Rosebud and I spent most all of my adult life in Delta Junction, Alaska so your video hit me with the 1-2 punch to my gut, ya know? 😟 I appreciate you! Love and light😊
My wife is a member of the Chickasaw tribe and nearly cried when she saw the first picture of the first victim in this case.
So random, but I'm originally from Alaska and living In oregon now too
Mig Mog brother here saying "hey" to you Rita. Keep the faith.
Ugh a Lakota from rosebud. Some of the most murderous people on the planet
I hope you're still safe! ❤️
Hey Mike I love your talent and skills to be able to share these stories.... although they're dark and sad you bring a light of empathy and caring. Thank you for your decency. I look forward to seeing more.❤️
Such a sad situation. I’m thankful he was caught and the families got some answers. I feel like he probably has more victims.
Great work, Mike.
Thanks for all the video downloads and for the entertaining expressions and side bars!!
My then best friend’s mom dated him for a while, whilst I was in Highschool in Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth). He always seemed like a pleasant chap (compared to the others she had brought home). Became a bit possesive towards the end but never new why they broke up. We used to wonder what happened to him, guess we now know. Wild, Brain seemed so quietly confident, sometimes intense, had diverse interests and was financially stable and seemed all round unproblematic. Would like to know why “T” broke up with him.👀
Tell us if you ever figure it out
Prove it
He was a psychopath in disguise.
how can a rabid bigot be seen as unproblematic?
@Saffa In London my dad went to school with him (Marc Brunsdon) lol don't know if that rings a bell. My dad says it's quite a shock..

Definitely very impactful. This bitter POS "prodigal son" doesn't seem to understand the significance. It's not about who killed the woman, it's about police -- and the public at large -- taking it seriously and acknowledging what a widespread problem it is.

This wholesome accent makes the video kind of amazing. Such a lighthearted and sweet voice discussing terrible things.
The way he uses attention to detail so well. The longer pauses in between statements really brings your attention to the story even more. I listen to these when I go to sleep and sometimes I open my eyes to make sure the video didn’t pause 😂

I believe it when the spouse says they didn’t know, in many cases, they really didn’t know.
Sometimes being too close to someone will allow a person to not see things that seem obvious to others.

Hello Connie, you Seem to know stuff.
How does one deserve which death?
Is There a Chart or Something?
@@SchlaftaterNrzZz I would say most people deserve to die peacefully, in old age, surrounded by loved ones. Horrible, unrepentant murderers who are a menace to society don’t deserve to live to an old age so they can kill more people. From a utilitarian point of view, It would be better for society if they met their death ASAP, whichever way is soonest/quickest. Monsters like Hitler and Stalin deserved to die by torture in order to atone and make the millions of victims they harmed feel like justice was served.
