y’all realize that people will act a VARIETY of ways after trauma, right? like obviously this woman in particular was guilty, but y’all NEED to stop using the behavior of someone immediately after a traumatic event to determine whether they’re guilty or not. people will react in a VARIETY of ways to trauma and it’s not our place to determine the “appropriate” reaction. i was making jokes within fifteen minutes of learning that my aunt died in a house fire, does that mean i killed her? no. i was traumatized and coping in the only way my brain knew how. y’all are not psychologists, stop analyzing people like you know how they’re “supposed” to act.

@@Clayinator2000 good thing you aren’t me and you aren’t in my family, then! because my aunt would have wanted us to laugh and make light rather than moping around and wallowing in sadness forever. and like i said, you and i AVERAGE PEOPLE are not who should be determining what is an “appropriate” response to trauma. being in shock, which is a real life hormone response that temporarily alters your brain function, can make people do and say out of the ordinary things. it doesn’t make them guilty.

When she said 'I read my Bible' I instantly thought she did it. My grandmother reads Bible all the time, goes to church almost daily etc, but in reality she's the worst human being (talking about you behind your back, backstabbing you, and one time she even tried to pit me against my own mother), so I don't trust people who use Bible as an argument that they are good people.

    • @ScarletWitch597

My ex mother in law is the same. She’s a Christian and goes to church regularly, but also regularly backstabs and bad mouths everyone. Just recently, she accused my husband of being a pedophile just because he’s Caucasian. She told everyone how he will just use my daughter as a sex slave.
There was also one time when her grand daughter had a cat, but she didn’t want to have a pet so she tied the cat in a sack and threw the poor thing somewhere without opening the sack.

She stopped being able to walk and was extremely frail from not being able to swallow or get adequate nutrients. One day she apparently got up and put her arm over the nurses counter and knocked the computers to the floor. In her room she was somehow able to pull every single piece of clothing as well as the closet rod to tue floor several times and start packing. She was so tiny and noone could figure out where the strength came from. By her head was a box worh a bell for the nurse. Mom was always ably to pull it from the wall. The elderly can surprise you with the strength they do have even when they do look so fragile.

I think that she wanted to have that final piece of power over the family, by not confessing what she knew aka that it was her. And maybe that footprint was there from someone earlier in the day or something and it got rained on. That’s the only other explanation I have for that piece of evidence…

That's not an excuse for your actions, but it definitely can cause a person to do something that they would otherwise NEVER do if not for their addiction, especially if doing so involves getting a fix. Those pills are no joke. You can't play with that shit. It will absolutely ruin your life.

I completely agree with you. Opioid addiction is on a whole different level from any other addiction. I can say that, because I have been addicted to a number of different substances. I have now been opioid free for almost 8 years. I had to use MAT treatment. I also quit alcohol 18 years ago and was much different than trying to recover from opioid addiction.

Once you've become truly addicted to any of these powerful narcotics, you'll do damn near *anything* to end the misery that is opioid withdrawal. As a juror in this case, there is NO Way that I'd vote guilty against this woman. The idea that a opioid addicted 70 year old woman had it together enough and was slick enough to find someone in that small town to help her with murder and then just have him disappear is just fantastic. If they weren't able to come up with ANY Proof that she hired Someone to help her, then the theory of the crime presented by the DA is just a Fantasy that he got a Gullible Southern jury to buy. All the "evidence" that they did have against her can be explained as the words and actions of an old lady in a drug confused state of mind. The probable reason why they haven't caught the real killer is that he was not from the local area. American police Do NOT Care if the person they imprison is guilty or not. They're just looking to "solve" the case one way or another.
