Did the new paint you mixed have the pearl/metallic in it like the original? I'm asking because I need the same paint for my own and I don't want to mess up the pearl/metallic ratio
Yes the metallic elements were premixed into my paint, I actually used a single stage paint with metallic, but factory and replacement paint calls for a base and clear combo
Good question, the reason is that the paint was supposed to be a matte finish, I used a flattening agent mixed in but it came out much glossier than I wanted
Thank you, I only needed a gallon since it’s a sedan and since I was not changing the color I didnt need to paint the door jambs or engine bay. I used a single stage paint so it did not need any clear coat, but my understanding is that a base coat/ clear coat system is easier to spray, just a few extra steps
Awesome paint job on the 240, ,itlooks like a new 🚗 🚘
Thanks a lot, not a perfect job but maybe I’ll do better next time

Awesome work!
What is the size of the air compressor did you use? I only have 6 gal.
I believe at the time I only used a 10 gal and that was pushing it, it’s doable but you have to carefully plan out your spray pattern
Nice Volvo 👍🇸🇪
Thanks!
nice job!
Thanks!
why did you not wet sand the finish and then wet sand with finer grit...then compound and polish to get mirror finish?
Good question, the reason is that the paint was supposed to be a matte finish, I used a flattening agent mixed in but it came out much glossier than I wanted
Congratulations. Good work. What kind of wheels are those? My dd is an 87 245 with the same , before tired paint.
The wheels are 14” Scorpius wheels, they came on the Classic trim 240s
I have 244 , 83, red color.
Nice work! I have a 240 and a 940 which needs paint. Did you put clear coat on? How much paint did you use. Thx!

What paint gun did you use?
I went with just the HF gun, the pricier one, made sure to take it apart and clean all the insides before spraying, it worked surprisingly well
Which grit did you use?
I don’t think it went any coarser than 400, it’s really just to scuff the surface and feather the clearcoat edges
Please.. song and artist?
