  • This time, I make the big tires fit on the Volvo 740 turbodiesel wagon, give my best attempt at bodywork and give it a paint job that isn't that terrible.

    Laughing at the Elon burn! Nothing he doesn’t deserve! I watched your first body repair video where you fixed all the Swiss in that cheese! So much work! Dedicated to the project. Well done good Sir, well done.

    You don't need to take it to bare metal, if it looks good just leave it there, if you find stuff like clearcoat chipping you will need to sand it down to the paint coat and prime it real good to avoid further reactions.
    On old volvos the rust protection layers are better than anything you'll be able to find these days as you said

    Also your filler technique is good, the cardboard trick is widely used in bodyshops. 150 is enough to sand down fine filler, this way you can feel any residual imperfections better, it's longer to sand down but you'll save time on ulterior sanding steps

    Hi! I asked about your e-mail to reach out to you on your last video, and you gave me one! But haven't heard anything, it's regarding spare parts. Mind having a look?
    Best Regards, P

    Looks good! How much paint did you end up using and how many coats of each?

    • @bakedbeansgarage116
      @bakedbeansgarage116  4 місяці тому

      I used a little over a gallon of color after 3 coats and finishing the trim, sunroof and air dam.

    Hey
    Why do you heat up some parts before painting them ( like calipers, swaybar etc). Heat activated paint or smth?

    • @bakedbeansgarage116
      @bakedbeansgarage116  9 місяців тому +1

      No, just regular paint. The torch burns off any stubborn oils and heats the metal to open the pores. Just better paint adhesion.
