I think it's for the better that LA Noire never got a sequel since Cole died. Actually now the I think about it, maybe a sequel could have worked with the player controlling Jack Kelso for a majority of the game.
We didn't see Cole's body, no confirmation of his death. Rockstar could very easily pull him out of retirement by having him wash up on the shore of long beach or something.
You did a fantastic job and I truly appreciate this video as a hardcore L.A Noire lover! I wished for a sequel since the release of the original. Still longing for what can’t be :(
Great video! L.A. Noire is one of my favorite video game of all time, and to see that it’s still subject to in-depth analysis and video essays more than 10 years after its release gives me great pleasure! What’s the outro music please?
Hey that was great and I am intrigued by that voice over, he sounds like a stud! Okay enough simping over josh, LA Noire is one of my favorites and it's cool to have a better grasp on what happened behind the scenes. Even though it sounds like a nightmare from top to bottom. Great video mate.
Although there’s plenty of room to continue & expand the series, it’s quite a rarity to catch lightning in the bottle with a game like LA Noire and not have it be replicated. Truly a relic of its time, especially with the detailed facial expressions/features playing such a prominent role in questioning. Brilliant work by Rockstar & Team Bondi!
I beat this game 5 times throughout my life. From middleschool (when it first came out) to a year after highschool (last time I played it). It holds a special place in my heart. Playing the game in the living room while my dad watched. He loved movies and this was just one big movie. He's gone now, and I've played it once since he's passed. It was hard to get through remembering his reactions and comments about everything. Maybe for my sake, it is good we never got a sequel. 😅
Imagine this game in 2025... Although I feel like gaming companies, and companies in general, just aren't willing to take any risks anymore. Rockstar ain't going to release a sequel when they're making money hand over fist with GTA online and, of course, the upcoming GTA 6. Manhunt, Bully, LA Noire, The Warriors, TABLE TENNIS... those were the days. Now it's all about making the most money possible with the smallest risk.
If you ask me rockstar has been taking way to lonng to release games, we've only had about 2 games from Rockstar in the passed 9 years and people remaster don't count as new games. The houser brothers left rockstar so who knows what will be the fate of all Rockstar's forgotten and canceled projects, great video man :)
I really love LA Noire a 40s 50s hollywood dark mystery with back & white star. if there a LA Noire 2 hope it can let people know how crazy TV boomer, cold war made a social impact around that time in LA.
I'd love one set in the late 60s/ early 70s where you're trying to stop a cult that's kidnapping and murdering people or something. True Detective S1 type story with a Once Upon A Time In Hollywood vibe would be amazing
Yeah. The noire games(as a franchise)and the GTA games should have been Rockstar's cops and robbers of open world gaming. The noire games are the cops while the GTA games are the robbers
I love how the people are so hyped by a sequel but don't realise those things take a shit ton of time to be made. FFS guys, it took 7 years to get LA Noire, so don't expect R* to release the second one just like that. They've managed to put out RDR2, and now it's been very clear they're working their ass off on GTA VI.
The recent Tarantino movie got me thinking that a 60s-set sequel to LA Noire would be great, with stories based around the Manson Family etc, and with aged versions of the surviving younger characters
La noire 2 could have taken place in the 90s.. like think GTA San Andreas but played from the perspective of a good cop and you fight both street gangs and corrupt cops
And perhaps the public never gets notified of his death in the first place and how he was falsely accused and broke the SRF/Arsonist cases open and is returned to top duty or survives low key and then becomes a pi and supplies information to the pd and to Jack about cases and secretly closes them.
The graphics for this game were so ahead of its time. It holds up well even by todays graphics. The facial movements and frames were crazy good for 2011. If you just made it 4k it would look like a decent modern game. This looks om the same level or slightly better than gta 5
I'd like a sequel, but it doesn't even have to be L.A. It can be another city in another state. "N.Y. Noire". "Chicago Noire". Something like that but similar gameplay.
Great video. I love LA Noire. It's a flawed masterpiece, certainly has it's problems but there isn't another video game like it at all, not even one that comes close. It's just great.
I always loved the idea of LA Noire’s successor being based in Detroit and set in the late 60s. Whereas LA Noire highlighted a city just beginning to blossom, Detroit Noire would feature a mature city that at the beginning of the worst decline of any major American city. 60s Detroit saw an explosion in crime, racial strife, and the downturn of its benchmark industries. I think there are lots of interesting stories to tell which would make for a pretty amazing sandbox game which allows for a solid main story and unlimited side quests.
I always thought LA Noire would have been great if you had played as a Private Detective instead of a cop. Would have allowed more freedom and interesting situations in my opinion. Still enjoyed the game as it was, but hoped for a sequel as a PI.
So, I've had this video in my watch later playlist for a while now and I've finally had a chance to sit down in front of the TV and watch it. With the quality of editing and structure of this video, I was expecting it to be made by a channel with a hefty amount of subscribers. Then I go to subscribe to you and find out you've only got 200! How? This kind of work is very impressive. Please, keep it up!
Wish they could have done a sequel set in the early 1970s in New York. At least we were left with 1 awesome game. Horrible that people were treated badly in the making of it though.
Great video 👍 first one I've watched of yours but going back now to watch the rest well done. I loved L.A Noire so different to nearly everything else it's such a shame that it never got a sequel. Tho these days the way some sequals are handled perhaps it's good that its legacy wasn't distroyed
I feel like there could have been an actual sequel to LA Noire featuring Herschel Biggs and Jack Kelso taking down Roy Earle for what he did to Phelps all while working during the red scare and huac. Not sure how you add some noire elements, but a possibility
I remember when I was twelve years old and I played this gem. I thought it was cool that for once in a “Rockstar” game (I put quotations because it’s not really a rockstar game) you get to play as an actual legit good guy and fight against crime. I was also genuinely surprised by the writing and how every character seemed real and not black and white. I wish there was a sequel, but maybe it’s best that this remains the only game so that others hopefully see this game and play it for themselves. I think it’s timeless, and it’s quite the experience. I felt so engaged with the protagonist that the ending hit like a truck when it was all said and done.
Thank you for bringing us this story. In contrast to what the quoted person said about leaks hurting the business; we disagree. In the long run, the IP holder still believes in their project, and is looking to do it justice with the right team. Therefore, by those reasons alone, the project still stands strong, top secret, code named and under the radar. All a leak like that does is perpetually whet the imaginary appetite for if and when the game is realized.
Watching this video makes me realize that we are actually very lucky to even got the game in the first place. This game could've been cancelled if Rockstar games didn't step in take control of the development. Thank your Rockstar for giving us this masterpiece.
I’d love a La Noire sequel that’s based around the movie The Nice Guys, I think the movie takes place in the 70s, but in reality I just want another La Noire game, I mean it’s not like it can’t happen, Rockstar owns the property after Team Bondi went under I’d hope if the game ever gets a sequel it will have more stuff to do on days off, like activities to do by yourself or with your partner, definitely needs better customization, no more shitty preset suits I wanna be able to customize my outfit to my liking, also being a dirty cop would be a cool feature as well
I always wanted a Undead Nightmare DLC for LA Noire. But, instead of Zombies, we get a 1950s XFILES type situation involving Aliens and UFOs and Abductions.
LA Noire remains my favorite game of all time. I've owned it on 4 different systems (360, PS3, PS4, Switch) and always have an itch to replay it every couple of years. Really blows a sequel was never released, it deserved one
I still think whore of the orient if someone ever goes and revives the project the potential story ideas of being a detective in Shanghai in the 1930s during the time period would be interesting
The only other news of sequels I’ve heard about: 2020- Video Games Deluxe (New team made of most of Team Bondi’s original employees and director) posted on linked mentioning a new open world VR game with rockstar, after making a VR LA Noire adaptation in 2017. Nothing really happens with this as far as I know. 2024- there was some rumor/ leaked announcement of a new LA Noire successor titled “Sowden House” also set in 1940s LA. Video Games Deluxe clarified on their linked in page: “A statement for news regarding "Sowden House" We are working exclusively on projects for Rockstar. We commissioned some music from a local composer Freyja Garbett for a VR project that we were working on a number of years ago when between projects. It is based on a case from LA Noire that did not make the cut but was more of a tech demo than anything else. We have no idea whether this will ever see the light of day but we decided to finish the score commission to support a local composer.” While this pretty much out the Sowden House game assumption to rest. It hints that they may be interested in a sequel as you don’t make a tech demo based from LA Noire for no reason
LA Noire was one of those one of a lifetime games that perfectly captured the post-war 1940s vibe. Too bad McNamara was such an a-hole tho and Team Bondi closed
I've always thought they should make the next LA Noire tie into the old radio and TV series Dragnet. Dragnet started in 1949 a couple of years after the events in LA Noire. Since forensic analyst Ray Pinker appears in both La Noire and Dragnet, it only makes sense that Sgt. Joe Friday exists in the old LA we see in the game. LA Noire 2: The Dragnet
All my dreams is get this type of genre back to life, great music, atmosphere, story wise i hope it get more details into the main character next time and have an enemy that link him or her to the past ... man what a game ...

It's truly a great one! The outro song is "When the Ash Settles" by The Westerlies
Pas mal les abonnements. J'approuve.
Audibly gasped when I saw that this video has 1.6k views and not 1.6m. These videos are great, keep it up 👍
la noire, no matter how forgotten it is in its industry, will never be forgotten in the gaming community and I love that, love the vid!
This game was fantastic. Not the type of game I normally play but was hooked on it. Defo classic
Great video! Very well written and researched. Cheers man
Thanks so much! Appreciate the kind words!
2023 and still this game surprise me how well this is all put together to this day when we says old games were made of gold means we mean it
Imagine this game in 2025...
This is an amazing video you deserve so many more subs
2:37 look at the hair on this chap’s arms.
I understand *why* they're taking so long but that doesn't mean I don't want them to release stuff more frequently. Thanks for watching!
it's because they're no longer separate studios, hell LA Noire isn't even a Rockstar game ( Sony Australia passed the publishing rights to Rockstar )
i was thinking of la noir and team bondi's relationship with rockstar the other day, this answers all my questions
Anyone would think this channel has millions of subs with the great narration and editing you certainly deserve it. Awesome channel 💯
True Detective S1 type story with a Once Upon A Time In Hollywood vibe would be amazing
your videos are phenomenal. feels as perfected as a noclip documentary
Fantastic video, love hearing about these pieces of video game history x
Thanks so much for the kind words, Lottie!
I would love to see a "Chicago Noire" set in the 1920s.
LA Noire remains in my top 10 favourite games ever. I really want it to get a sequel
Yeah. The noire games(as a franchise)and the GTA games should have been Rockstar's cops and robbers of open world gaming. The noire games are the cops while the GTA games are the robbers
You're gonna be 500k subs within 12-24months my dude. Congrats on the top notch production.
Hey, when I am I'll say "tubularmonkeymaniac called it"
I love how the people are so hyped by a sequel but don't realise those things take a shit ton of time to be made. FFS guys, it took 7 years to get LA Noire, so don't expect R* to release the second one just like that. They've managed to put out RDR2, and now it's been very clear they're working their ass off on GTA VI.
I didn't expect to hear Josh from Panels to Pixels. That was a nice surprise!
I didn't expect so see Gary King here, that was also a nice surprise!
The VR and remastered versions give me massive hope for a sequel 🤞
The recent Tarantino movie got me thinking that a 60s-set sequel to LA Noire would be great, with stories based around the Manson Family etc, and with aged versions of the surviving younger characters
“recent” lol
@@_mark_3814 yeah., you know the one I mean, ''Pulp Fiction' I think it was called
There's nothing I want more than LA Noire 2. Especially with today's graphics and animations.
Btw. thanks for reminding me to play La Noire VR^^
By reminding you to play LA Noire VR, I've also reminded myself that I have to play it
La noire 2 could have taken place in the 90s.. like think GTA San Andreas but played from the perspective of a good cop and you fight both street gangs and corrupt cops
@@99mrpogi I like that idea & with todays graphics that would be an instant hit
@@99mrpogi i fancied more of a 70s setting in the city of NYC i think that will be interesting for L.A Noire 2 if it would ever get made
@@thomasmorgan4218 like probably reminiscent of 70s cop shows or movies...
A good plot twist is that Cole survived being swept away by the floodwaters. Maybe he returns to find Elsa after regaining his memory.
And perhaps the public never gets notified of his death in the first place and how he was falsely accused and broke the SRF/Arsonist cases open and is returned to top duty or survives low key and then becomes a pi and supplies information to the pd and to Jack about cases and secretly closes them.
Just discovered your channel through this video. Great content, keep it coming!
These videos are extremely well made, great job!
The graphics for this game were so ahead of its time. It holds up well even by todays graphics. The facial movements and frames were crazy good for 2011. If you just made it 4k it would look like a decent modern game. This looks om the same level or slightly better than gta 5
This is a beautiful video
“I told you. I didn’t do it!” *face twitch and eye roll followed by smug smirk, slight chuckle, and 30 degree head shaking*
God how does this channel have so few subscribers? This is a really good documentary!
A year and a half later, it was indeed not LA Noire 2.
I hope one day Rockstar makes a sequel. New York, Las Vegas, Chicago, Atlanta, Boston, and Philly would be cool places to see.
The lack of a sequel is nothing short of criminal.
Great video, keep up the awesome work that you do!
I will, don't worry! Thanks for the kind words!
This guys doesn’t miss with his videos!
LA Noire was my first M rated game. I was 9 when it came out and I’m about to turn 21 and I still love the game and occasionally play it to this day.
LA Noire was a masterpiece and I cannot be more disappointed at the fact it will never get a sequel it deserves
It is such an amazing game that just cries for the sequel. Such a shame...
Wish they could have done a sequel set in the early 1970s in New York. At least we were left with 1 awesome game. Horrible that people were treated badly in the making of it though.
Whore of the Orient looked and sounded like a fantastic idea for a game. I wish they could have followed through.
Just started L.A. Noire again. A sequel would be epic af
It's a shame, LA Noire is probably in my top 5 games, it's so unique. Truly a masterpiece.
I loved LA Noire as a kid but had never heard of this. Great video man, you earned a new subscriber ✌
Playing L.A. Noire for the first time on PS4, such a great game.
First one always felt half completed. You have the main storm and very little else. So much work went into making LA and 90% of it went unused.
Watching this video makes me realize that we are actually very lucky to even got the game in the first place. This game could've been cancelled if Rockstar games didn't step in take control of the development. Thank your Rockstar for giving us this masterpiece.
Damn I always wanted a sequel… LA Noire is still a masterpiece
im fed up of games being non stop action, La noir was a perfect blend of film and gameplay
A little bitter sweet that so much sweat equity was put into a game that is relatively under appreciated.
I’d love a La Noire sequel that’s based around the movie The Nice Guys, I think the movie takes place in the 70s, but in reality I just want another La Noire game, I mean it’s not like it can’t happen, Rockstar owns the property after Team Bondi went under
I’d hope if the game ever gets a sequel it will have more stuff to do on days off, like activities to do by yourself or with your partner, definitely needs better customization, no more shitty preset suits I wanna be able to customize my outfit to my liking, also being a dirty cop would be a cool feature as well
11:20 anyone knows the music? It's sounds so familiar
I believe this is By The Bay from Simcity 4
I always wanted a Undead Nightmare DLC for LA Noire. But, instead of Zombies, we get a 1950s XFILES type situation involving Aliens and UFOs and Abductions.
Rockstar without Dan Houser really isn’t the same company. It’s like Queen without Freddie Mercury.
I wonder if that McNamara bloke ever thought about taking some of the hair from his arms and transplanting it to his head?
I’m still pissed over that lackluster ending to the game, it made no sense and felt so rushed
This game came from an alternate version of Earth, and I wish I was part of it 😢
The only other news of sequels I’ve heard about:
2020- Video Games Deluxe (New team made of most of Team Bondi’s original employees and director) posted on linked mentioning a new open world VR game with rockstar, after making a VR LA Noire adaptation in 2017. Nothing really happens with this as far as I know.
2024- there was some rumor/ leaked announcement of a new LA Noire successor titled “Sowden House” also set in 1940s LA. Video Games Deluxe clarified on their linked in page:
“A statement for news regarding "Sowden House"
We are working exclusively on projects for Rockstar.
Played it 10 years ago on my Xbox and recently bought a steam deck, re-bought the game and experienced it again and it is a masterclass
Great informative video. I would still like to see a sequel or a spiritual sequel of LA Noire developed by some studio somewhere.
And you got to remember that we're lucky we even got LA noir as I heard that it was in a quite a development hell.
I like the idea of a game set in Shanghai during that time. What happened to all of the unfinished work?
Kept in storage somewhere or deleted.
LA Noire was truly ahead of its time, the animation they did was way advanced
It is the game David Cage tries to make.
I would love an LA Noire sequel. The original was great
LA Noire was one of those one of a lifetime games that perfectly captured the post-war 1940s vibe.
Too bad McNamara was such an a-hole tho and Team Bondi closed
This game is an absolute banger! Just played it for the first time, wow, I thought I hate cutscenes but I believe it was all done very well
I've always thought they should make the next LA Noire tie into the old radio and TV series Dragnet.
With the characters corruption and change continuing and leading into the 50’s showing developing L.A.
I always wished they had Cole live so Parker could take over and then form the IA unit and make Cole head or something.
This game bushed the boundaries of facial animations, a detail which hasn't been replicated since.
All my dreams is get this type of genre back to life, great music, atmosphere, story wise i hope it get more details into the main character next time and have an enemy that link him or her to the past ... man what a game ...
