This game isn't great nor is underrated. It was blown out of proportion and overhyped by paid reviews while players were frustrated with a halfbaked final product and unrealistic characters that were advertised as realistic. How things are going in the gaming industry this game will become good since most things released isn't worth for me to even release my fart on it let alone to be bothered to play it even if someone pays me good money to play it. You have to be heavily lobotomized and a masochist to find entertainment values in such ''products'' that are nothing but slapped together tech demos with makeup on.

First i was like "Oh yeah cool you can kill all these Criminals on so many different Ways, that will be fun for 1 Hour". But later on i must say it was a realy intense Horror Game and not a bad Game at all. But i never played Manhunt 2.
It's been Rockstar's business model for a long time. From what I understand, back in the day, it was rare for companies to work multiple major projects at the same time, or work on one immediately after a previous one was completed. Rockstar took the world by storm releasing the original GTA trilogy, Max Payne 2, the Manhunt games, Smuggler's Run, Red Dead Revolver, and Midnight Club all within a span of 2000-06... it was unprecedented. I think it lead to a lot of companies copying the same model and leading to rushed releases, patch on release day, and so on.
This might sound crazy but everytime I listen to your voice I get nostalgic and think about when I was a kid and visiting Walt Disney world. Reminds me of those ads I used to watch the day before going in the Hotel room.

truly my favorite yoube channel, the stories of the producers, the market, icons of the scene always with various points of view, the work of journalists / researchers took seriously telling the story of the brands that most marked countless hours of entertainment from my childhood in the 90s to the present day. congrats, always entertaining and also explaining what I always wanted to know.
When this game dropped, I thought it would change the industry in terms of where the bar would be set for facial animation just as Metal Gear Solid raised the bar in terms of voice acting and cinematic cutscene story telling. Still I wonder how they could develop this technology to capture their performance and look seemingly flawless in game and it not be picked up by other game developers looking to capture that same level of fidelity.
I will forever remember playing LA Noire for the first time when it released, and how it blew my mind. the facial detail and voice lines are still amazing to this day.
Motion Scan still produced the best looking faces and facial movements and lip-syncing animations in all of gaming. I remember playing this on PS3 and being blown away thinking I was actually looking at live action cut-scenes.
La Noir was a great game, it was the first game I played that came in multiple discs, and it was also the first game I played that had the grateful feature of being able to skip mini games/areas that you can't beat. I was also grateful for that in Red Dead I and II. I personally had some trouble with the interrogations, but I loved all the detail and story. I received it with my xbox 360 for my 25th birthday in 2012.
Still one of my favorite games of the previous generations, the other being Alan Wake. It's sad we don't see games like this anymore. The market is over saturated with battle royale, fps shooters and sports games.
Still in my top 5 games of all-time and currently doing another playthrough this time on PC. The writing was incredible along with the capture. Would absolutely love a sequel though highly unlikely to happen.
Even though the game is over a decade old, I still compare every games’ voice acting and facial animation to this game. They set the bar high that still is the pinnacle in my opinion.
What I loved the most was the unexpected responses from detective Phelps, and how complex this character becomes as the game advances. If it wasn't for that, the game would be quite bland. His personal life shouldn't have emotional weight because he was a tough guy.
As someone that aspires to be a videogame designer someday, the problems you highlighted in the industry are a big concern to me. To such a level that I don't think I see any alternative than to start a studio as a worker coop.
I truly enjoyed paying this game, it was a fresh and unique experience, not without its flaws though as it wasn't a particulary exceptional shooter or driving game, animations were a little bit clunky but nothing that would distract you, it wasn't a true open world either but the mixture of different gameplay mechanics plus an engaging story and the crime scene investigation with interrogations made it really hard to put the controller down.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, and I still play this game today. The Crossroads is still here, along with Leroy's parking lot. Unfortunately this masterpiece will never get a sequel.
Man you've got a great voice and what a difference that makes in these sorts of videos. A video can have a great premise, only to be brought down by the unconfident voice (and often analysis)of what sounds like a teenager in their basement... Serious History Channel/professional vibes with your voice.
Sorry to hear it had unethical issues behind the scenes, typical case of higher ups taking shortcuts to save money. This is one of my favorite video games of all time. I don't have any real interest in getting the latest game consoles, I'm happy with my 360 so I can play this once or twice a year from start to finish in a 3 to 5 day setting. It just had so much creative tone to it!!!
Team Bondi is named after a beach, and if I recall it's a somewhat infamously dangerous one. Kind of tempting fate when a company needs to stay afloat.
i love la noir and would love to see it come back again. it capture the era perfectly and at the time it was the most expensive facial capture on the market.
I loved LA Noire, despite it's flaws. I still have my copy to this day, I really love this copy because I guess it was a review copy, has a big banner across the box that says "Not For Resale" haha
One of my all time favorite video games. Sad to hear it had such a rocky development. I would love a sequel but I realize it may be years if we ever get one. Another great video from an amazing channel.
'Passionate' means regularly say awful things in the heat of the moment. Also great managerial skills when there's a problem to tell them to get a different career rather than look at your own attitude and actions. Also funny how he has the hairiest arms I've ever seen on a human but has none on his head.
LA noire is a cinematic experience, it was a more linear game than GTA, but that allowed it to be a much more focused on the story. Imo this has given it a longevity over any past GTA, and more akin to RDR2. Both games will stand the test of time better than any of the other of Rockstar's games.
Really enjoyed L.A. Noire, I appreciated they tried to do something different with depth analysis/motion scan. Plus, loved the era/setting of the game. My main gripe was once you finished the story, there was nothing left to do. If they ever made a sequel, would be fun to have police side quests/encounters. Even just stopping random crime as a cop like a robbery etc.

@@Legion849 agreed. I tend to forget BF1 and how fun it was
@@skidrx BF1 is actually my favorite Battlefield, but BFV was nothing special.
I dont have to watch the whole Video to know this is gonna be great. Thanks for your top Quality Content.
Most underrated game of all time. We need a L.A Noire 2 so badly!
What? It reviewed really well and sold 6 million copies.
Nah we need NY Noire
Man you've got a great voice and what a difference that makes in these sorts of videos. A video can have a great premise, only to be brought down by the unconfident voice (and often analysis)of what sounds like a teenager in their basement...
Serious History Channel/professional vibes with your voice.
Thank you for the kind words. I really enjoy voicing these videos and greatly appreciate you taking time to comment. Stay safe!
Is nobody gonna talk about how good the main menu track in this game was? This and max payne 3 have great scores imo.
i love la noir and would love to see it come back again. it capture the era perfectly and at the time it was the most expensive facial capture on the market.
I loved LA Noire, despite it's flaws. I still have my copy to this day, I really love this copy because I guess it was a review copy, has a big banner across the box that says "Not For Resale" haha
Same dude. I don't know what it is, but I really like it
One of my all time favorite video games.
Congratulations GVMERS! It's nice to finally hear an American pronounce "Bondi" the correct way. - Love from Australia
In a perfect world I wish to see The Getaway remade
Me too. I think The Getaway was a really significant landmark game, and excellent to play - unlike L.A. Noire which is merely 'good'.
LA noire is a cinematic experience, it was a more linear game than GTA, but that allowed it to be a much more focused on the story. Imo this has given it a longevity over any past GTA, and more akin to RDR2. Both games will stand the test of time better than any of the other of Rockstar's games.
To those who say Micah Bell is R*'s most hated villain. Say hello to Roy Earle, Ad Vice.
Except is it really Rockstar's?
Team Bondi made the game, so isn't he a Team Bondi villian?
@@DCGMatthew1 Published by Rockstar so by default belongs to them
@@Blackhawk211 Not really.
@@DCGMatthew1 Yeah, I consider it a Rockstar game. It's not like Team Bondi is even an active team anymore anyway.
@@zedrising9430 Yeah, but it's their brain child, Rockstar would just mess it up.
Arguably, this game revolutionized facial motion capture for future Rockstar games that were set to come.
I don’t much about this game, but i could listen to this narrator talk about it all day. Great voice!
This game fascinates me to this day. Interesting video. Thank you.
This channel is sooooo underrated.
The deepest and most complex storytelling in a game ever
Really enjoyed L.A. Noire, I appreciated they tried to do something different with depth analysis/motion scan. Plus, loved the era/setting of the game. My main gripe was once you finished the story, there was nothing left to do. If they ever made a sequel, would be fun to have police side quests/encounters. Even just stopping random crime as a cop like a robbery etc.
“We got the wrong guy” the basis of the entire game essentially
I absolutely love these videos, this dude's voice is calming as hell
la noire 2, bully 2, manhunt 3. I could not care less about gta 6 :(
darktennisball GTA V ruined GTA for me with its weak short story and obsession with online. GTA VCS is my unpopular opinion for face. I want bully 2 but I want nostalgia not hi tech
Great video again. Criminally underrated channel imho. Well deserving of Million+ subs.
L.A. Noire definitely needs some kind of sequel.
Personally, I'd love to see something similar based in New York.
the story, the settings, i love this game! choosing answer by guessing the expression and body language is super fun. we need more like this!
speaking of crunch, the crap i'm hearing coming out of naughty dog right now sounds like a similar state of affairs, seems this industry doesn't respect its workforce
Dont even get me started on the leaks. The story from what i heard is horrendous
@@iliftthingsupandputthemdow4364 The Last Of Trans
@Ben Hill Never heard the name, googled in an outburst of curiosity.
and by god, i regret it.
@Subi_fan no, they lost 70% from the 20 people designer team.
This is the game I could replay over and over again and not give a shit about any other game. It’s so forgotten amongst other games of the time. Granted it was a really specific game but god damn was it amazing
Thank you for shedding the light. Crunch is disgusting and must end!
I remember this game. Wasn’t my cup of tea even less after the controversies surrounding its production. Great recap of its history u guys are doing gods work! 👍🏻👍🏻
12:07 that's some fine driving there
Its unfortunate that a lot of developers don't learn this until late into their careers. but do not ever put your family 2nd to your job.
I rebeat this beautiful game every year starting in December.
underrated channel, underrated content. good job on the vid. keep it up, and really hope u become huge channel.
The lord himself uploads!!
Thank you for this insightful documentary. Especially for shedding light on the controversies behind the scenes, particularly the working conditions and environments.
This is definitely getting a remaster in the next 5 years.
It got one for ps4
@@aswadsheikh8051 That's not really a remaster. They just improved the framerate, lighting, and some textures a bit. It's like they switched from a "medium" graphics setting to "high". An actual remaster is like the cod 4 remaster.
would be so dope to get a sequel nowadays with potential co-op , you and your buddy chasing down bad guys taking a different route to cut him off and flipping a coin to do good cop bad cop man this would be so cool what an opportunity missed
Yeah... I don't know. If it gets a sequel, it should remain single player. Not every game needs co-op.
I love this game❤️ this was one of my proudest platinums
Along with the detail and care put into the videos, the narrator and tone of his voice really drive them home
I just finished it for the first time a couple weeks ago. Great game.
Every time I consider pursuing work in the video game industry, I see a report like that and am reminded how ruthless and unethical it is. "You're working on video games! You should feel lucky." is used to justify all manner of employment abuses.
LA Noire is a masterpiece. I got the platinum trophy on ps3.
I was thinking about getting it, I assume it's definitely worth it
Lauren E absolutely without a doubt.
@@F1Fast I'll order it now lol, I'm looking forward to it.
