So basically…….the graphics were just too good of it’s time that the frame rate had to suffer because of it? Pretty much the issue with every game now, you can’t have both amazing graphics and amazing frame rate without being on a PC 💀
Even then, on pc you are screwed over by your 1000 dollar gpu because it can barely do 30fps while using features it was literally advertised for like 4k and ray tracing, without relying on image reconstruction like dlss and fsr. Dlss and fsr are supposed to boost performance even further, not make a game touch the fps you're supposed to be getting.
I fucking love this game but I wish it had more activities and better customization, I’d love if they made a sequel they added these things, ability to be a dirty cop with a honor system like Red Dead would be cool, better gunplay as well, more attention to detail too, but mostly I’d want more customization, I didn’t like the preset suits, Jack Kelso would be pretty cool protagonist, I’d like a new character and want it set in the 60s or 70s, my hope would be a fully improved Nice Guys (as in the movie) like La Noire
Just got done playing it again for the first time since its original release on Xbox with the DLC and oh man, what a ride now that I’m older and more mature. I shed a few tears at the end for Phelps
I played this for the first time in 2018 after not playing any games since 2008. This was the PERFECT game for me since my video game muscles went into atrophy. Not super challenging and not a bunch of stuff to learn straight out of the gate. I was a noob reborn and though I've played a lot of games since then, this game will always go down as my favorite game of all time. -Side note to all the people who love this game: most people know that the actor that plays Cole Phelps is also on the show Mad Men. What you may not know is there are over 70 people from this game that appear throughout the entire series of Mad Men. It puts a whole different spin on that series if you watch it.
The V Patch is a near perfect unlocking framerate patch for L.A. Noire, driving isn't that bad and the game mostly works, all of the animations smooth out decently. You can play the whole game minus one puzzle in The Set Up DLC episode this way.
I remember when my sister got this game at Gamestop and i used to watch her play it, until she couldnt get past a part of the story and gave up on it so she gave the game to me and i ended up completing the game just fine. That ending still gets me every time though.
Such a good game, so much so, I've decided to fire up my PS3 and complete getting the platinum, yep, 11 years in the making, mostly just the collectables.
I won a contest to get a copy of this game back in the day from some website doing a promo on Twitter. I started it and was enjoying it for the most part, but one of the UA-camrs I watched back then ruined the ending for me. Total bad form, no spoiler warning, nothing. Took the fun out of playing it. I was low-key mad at that guy for about half a year. Maybe some day I'll revisit it because it didn't seem like a game that took too much time to complete, but man did that suck. I always hoped they would take the tech and use it in GTA or other games in the same way, even if just in limited fashion. Like Lamar saying to Franklin in GTA V "Do I look like I'm lying?" and the prompts coming up all as "DOUBT" would have been a great callback, lol. Maybe we'll see something like that in VI.
I would love a LA Noire 2 or remastering with more exploration of the old LA with more building interiors, better facial expressions, and maybe some new cases.
This game for me is a continuum of sorts of the old Police Quest pc games from the 80's. I loved those and this game reminds me of them only so much better and set in the late 40's. I just started playing it and it really is a fantastic game!
I don’t hate the ending section of the game, but i agree with the general consensus that it feels rushed, and there should have been a handful more missions to ease the transition better from Cole being the good guy to the complicated character we end up with. I know a whole desk was planned that didn’t make it in, and that would have made a huge difference, because I do agree that the shift is sudden and jarring. But overall, I love the game and would love to see another one, though I KNOW it won’t happen.
If Rockstar want to do a proper remaster, they'll need to remake the face model to modern standard and map the capture performance to a fully rigged face instead of just projecting. That plus new full body motion capture to replace existing animation. Another thing to add is activities to the open world. Let you take time off between cases to explore and do stuff. Go to jazz bar, play games, watch public domain movies, and flesh out Cole's domestic life. Also add in an Assassin's Creed style education tour.
I think this game looks awesome and the acting is one of the best ever in a video game. You're not playing the remastered version either. It looks great on series x
I miss when Rockstar used to make different types of games like rdr1, bully, la noire, manhunt, max payne 3 instead of just milking gta online for all its worth.
Yeah, luckly the V Patch make it playable at 60 or more FPS, because the 30 FPS lock really outdates it. And, most importantly, fixes all the playability issues you had before at 60.
Studios do still use the tech involved to scan and place faces in games tho, you can see it in some games like rdr2 or tlou2 and other high profile releases today. But it's a lot more efficient now where use a total scan and then also use head rigs that record facial movements during full motion capture performances at the same time rather than doing the va and facial capture and full motion capture separately. It's still advancing as a tech and has been sized down over time to make it work better for ease of production. They use this a lot in movies today too like in marvel stuff or like what they did with avatar.
your channel is the embodiment of what i wanted my channel to be ( when i fantasied about being a youtuber). I couldn’t do it nearly this professional though so good job
Kinda surprises me that you like this game that much. To me it felt jenky as heck at the time. I liked it. But it was just a blip on the radar. It wasnt great. But alotta people think it was great. I guess you were a lot younger then i was when you played it than i was.
What does age have to do with it? I’m probably older than both of you, and I LOVE the game. It’s one of my favorite games from that entire console generation, and is one of the very few games out there that has absolutely no rival in how it feels.
My biggest gripe with this game is that there isn’t enough to do outside of the cases. If we got more to do with Phelps it would have given us a chance to connect more with the him. However, the cases and stories involved were great except the clues and choices that felt arbitrary.
Blame the game director he would scream and insult every developer making everyone quit, they didn't have an animator for long periods of time, this game coming out was a miracle
LA NOIRE is absolutely one of the best games ever made. I would like for them to make a spiritual successor, but leave LA NOIRE alone it was a masterpiece on it's own two feet
I revisit the game from time to time, because I love noir and I love L.A. It would be amazing to see a remaster with updated tech. But that would probably mean they'd have to pull all the actors back in and reshoot.
I’m surprised you were even able to get the game to launch. I bought it on steam and literally had to change game files and download mods to get it running properly.
This game was ok. Starts off great but quickly gets repetitive. It’s been 11 years since I played it but I do remember it having major flaws. The graphics were amazing though. Every game that was just decent or not well received always gets the retrospective “I was wrong review” a decade later
There is a Mod that makes the game run at 60fps flawlessly, its just one file of a few kbs that you need to copy and paste lol Rockstar could have done this officially if they GAF
I was disappointed by LA Noire after playing San Andreas. At the time my expectations was that games (specifically open world RPG's) would keep getting more detailed, a more faithful recreation of environments, a more realistic simulation. So after San Andreas, LA Noire felt far too shallow for me.
The ps4 version is on sale on Amazon in the UK at the minute. If you don't wanna buy it new you can get get a second hand copy off eBay for fairly cheap. One of my favourite games of all time as well, still holds up today.
Rockstar game launcher on PC gave it away free if you bought a game on their launcher a few years back. I got it but I had already beaten on 360 long before.
Just playing this again for the first time since it came out. I feel when I was much younger I didn’t quite get it and was god awful at the interrogations but this go around I’m having an absolute ball. Such a fun premise and just overall a ballsy game for rockstar to develop. Way ahead of its time and I wish there were more defective games like it.
you CAN play the game at 60fps you CAN turn Vsync ON You can be a good shooter, you're just bad. I'm baffled, this is your job and you can't display a game correctly?

So basically…….the graphics were just too good of it’s time that the frame rate had to suffer because of it? Pretty much the issue with every game now, you can’t have both amazing graphics and amazing frame rate without being on a PC 💀
Even then, on pc you are screwed over by your 1000 dollar gpu because it can barely do 30fps while using features it was literally advertised for like 4k and ray tracing, without relying on image reconstruction like dlss and fsr. Dlss and fsr are supposed to boost performance even further, not make a game touch the fps you're supposed to be getting.
“Coles reaction would not be what you were expecting”
“You fuck young boys, Valdez?”
And that line's in literally the very first mission of the game, oye vey.
Imagine a sequel but it’s in like Chicago in the 80s or something.
Literally my fav game ever, nothing can beat it
I would love a sequel to this game. They could do so much more with the facial expressions nowadays. The writing in this game was also top notch.
Just got done playing it again for the first time since its original release on Xbox with the DLC and oh man, what a ride now that I’m older and more mature. I shed a few tears at the end for Phelps
Great potential and vision ruined by a few but crucial shortcomings
I played this for the first time in 2018 after not playing any games since 2008. This was the PERFECT game for me since my video game muscles went into atrophy. Not super challenging and not a bunch of stuff to learn straight out of the gate. I was a noob reborn and though I've played a lot of games since then, this game will always go down as my favorite game of all time.
-Side note to all the people who love this game: most people know that the actor that plays Cole Phelps is also on the show Mad Men. What you may not know is there are over 70 people from this game that appear throughout the entire series of Mad Men. It puts a whole different spin on that series if you watch it.
ikr, when I played I constantly saw people from Mad Men over and over again
Some characters were in Breaking Bad as well
I think the main reason Rockstar backed this was because of the promising tech behind the facial animation. It was then used in GTA 5
The V Patch is a near perfect unlocking framerate patch for L.A. Noire, driving isn't that bad and the game mostly works, all of the animations smooth out decently. You can play the whole game minus one puzzle in The Set Up DLC episode this way.
That’s the shitty thing about Rockstar. They focus on 1 game and 1 game only. Sadly that game will always be GTA
I remember when my sister got this game at Gamestop and i used to watch her play it, until she couldnt get past a part of the story and gave up on it so she gave the game to me and i ended up completing the game just fine. That ending still gets me every time though.
I loved it so much, played it on PS3 and never experienced anything like it!
L.A. Noire was developed by Team Bondi, it was published by Rockstar.
Such a good game, so much so, I've decided to fire up my PS3 and complete getting the platinum, yep, 11 years in the making, mostly just the collectables.
It really wasn’t an open world game the impression I got it was about being a detective
I’m currently playing the Ace Attorney Chronicles on switch and I think this game is gonna be next on my list!
This game for me is a continuum of sorts of the old Police Quest pc games from the 80's. I loved those and this game reminds me of them only so much better and set in the late 40's. I just started playing it and it really is a fantastic game!
A sequel set in 80s Miami would be fantastic
I would eat up a Mafia 1 kinda remake of this game.
I absolutely love 3/4 of this game, absolutely hate the last 1/4 of this game
I don’t hate the ending section of the game, but i agree with the general consensus that it feels rushed, and there should have been a handful more missions to ease the transition better from Cole being the good guy to the complicated character we end up with. I know a whole desk was planned that didn’t make it in, and that would have made a huge difference, because I do agree that the shift is sudden and jarring. But overall, I love the game and would love to see another one, though I KNOW it won’t happen.
such a unique game with so much more potential. You Should do Maxpayne 3 next. Also other Rockstar games like the warriers Manhunt and Bully.
Everything is fixed by V-patch except moving pencil on paper to reveal debossed text
@@TheAntsh yeah, a single minigame in a single case, otherwise it would be perfect.
Top 3 G(ame)OAT for me. Loved this game! So wish there was a sequel but I'd still want it in the 40's!
Agree totally. Was a perfect time for a game like this.
I wouldn’t mind a sequel of LA Noire
your channel is the embodiment of what i wanted my channel to be ( when i fantasied about being a youtuber).
@@Dead_Hitori exactly, I'm surprised no one talks about this
LA NOIRE is absolutely one of the best games ever made. I would like for them to make a spiritual successor, but leave LA NOIRE alone it was a masterpiece on it's own two feet
you should definitely do the collab with ACG, you both are really good
I revisit the game from time to time, because I love noir and I love L.A.
How much do you lack Computer skills? Luke at 5:37: YES.
Dead city. Your decisions have no real consequences. All the clues are basically you being led by the hand. The game has nothing but "ambience"
There is a Mod that makes the game run at 60fps flawlessly, its just one file of a few kbs that you need to copy and paste lol
Rockstar could have done this officially if they GAF
I've played the PS4 version and it looks and plays much better than the original.
I just finished replaying this for the 1st time since like 2013 a weeks ago. Still such a solid game!
I was disappointed by LA Noire after playing San Andreas. At the time my expectations was that games (specifically open world RPG's) would keep getting more detailed, a more faithful recreation of environments, a more realistic simulation. So after San Andreas, LA Noire felt far too shallow for me.
L.A Noire, that game aged like fine wine. Played it last year and i was so interested by the story.
Rockstar do support their games... they support their gambling games...
Behind RDR2, LA Noire is my favourite Rockstar game. I have completed it both on the PC and Switch.
you CAN play the game at 60fps
you CAN turn Vsync ON
You can be a good shooter, you're just bad.
I'm baffled, this is your job and you can't display a game correctly?
Thanks for saying Bondi correctly. So many Americans say it as Bond-e or something
The soundtrack is second to none for this game
now I need to play it again. one of my all time favorites and I am so sad they never did a sequel.
Playing on steam deck, really nice experience
