After this aired, on Talking dead, Emily Kinney broke down. She was so sad to leave. It was heart breaking. The cast is like family. I have to say, Beth was one on the more difficult deaths for me. It was so sudden. Loved her, and I feel she had so much more story left. Remimber her words. "Your gonna miss me when I'm gone Deryl Dixon."

@jamesypls Righ!!?? He doesn't even have to say a word yet he speaks volumes. The way he looked standing there with his eyes all red and full of tears right after Beth was shot....omg that is what made me break and start to cry when I watched it the first time. It still brings tears every time. They are all great great actors but I swear that Andy Lincoln was born to play Rick Grimes. That man has caused me to fall head over heels in love with a tv character that doesn't even exist Now, what the hell am I supposed to do with that!!?? 😉

This is the kind of episode that makes you appreciate the character interactions, even in the lesser exciting episodes, as "Still". I miss Beth's character on the show, a lot of characters get taken out just as they come in to their own. And that was the tragedy of this one. She grew confidence, had all her friends behind her and then she was gone. The episode before, Rick told Carl that you always have to be alert, as one second - and its all over.

    “Where are your people”

    “They’re close.”
You’re right. Rick does have some good dialogue this episode. It’s good to get the one-liners in a show that’s in an overall grim, depressing setting.
The last-minute power play. Again, we see that Dawn does have a sense of morality, but her insecurity tends to override it.
Beth’s death was so damn shocking. Clearly an accident, given Dawn’s expression, but we knew Daryl was not gonna let that stand. Maggie’s scream on seeing Daryl carrying Beth out always gets to me.
Steve, your shirt was spot on appropriate this episode.
Also: keep those tissues out for the next episode.

From watching Talking Dead, seeing interviews, and just watching these guys from TWD in general , there is no doubt that they think of each other as family. Actually, it has been said over and over that Andrew Lincoln is kind of the driving force behind that and that he males sure that he meets and gets to know all of the cast and crew and often shows up on filming days when he doesn't need to be there ( other character's scenes) and will stay the whole day watching and being there just to give moral support. They say that his kindness and the way he loves each person is what has made each one of them want to do the same. New characters have said on Talking Dead that their first day on set, when they were nervous and didn't know anyone that Andy was the first person to meet them and make them feel welcome. He would say something about welcoming them to the family. And when a character dies on the show the cast has a "death dinner" where they all get together off set and have a meal and celebrate that person. I'm rambling and I apologize. My whole point really could have been said in one sentence, lol. I think this cast loves each other and thinks of themselves as family off camera and off set just as their characters do on the show. And I think that shows during their performances, especially the emotional ones like this 💙💚

  • @amyfmc1
    @amyfmc1 4 роки тому +31

This death broke mu heart, mostly because of how much it hurt Maggie, Daryl, and really all of the family. Rick saw her as one of his girls I think, plus he felt the added need to get her back and look after her because she was Herschel's daughter. Daryl had bonded with her so much on the road with her and he was devastated. And I think up until Michonne told Maggie they found Beth Maggie had just accepted that she had died. I think she never looked for Beth because she had already convinced herself that she was gone. At least that's what I kept telling myself to explain why Maggie never spoke of Beth or tried to look for her after the prison, lol. So then....she's alive let's go get her to Daryl carrying her body out like that. I was so sad. And pissed because it just seemed so unnecessary for the story line to have her die like that. Thank you Lacey and Steve , as always, for such a wonderful reaction. Y'all have truly made this such a pleasure for me. 💙💚

@@CheddahSlammer Yeah I agree, the hospital storyline, to me also, felt like it was made to give Beth something to do while everyone else was somewhere else and to pave the path to her death. It felt off, because there really wasn't any other reason for it, so you realized that's why it feels like the outlier arc. It just came off as lazy.

Purp Orchid86 my biggest problem with Beth dying is how much potiential they gave her character! We got scenes of Daryl teaching how to use the crossbow and their relationship was such a awesome dynamic imagine if we saw Beth grow even more in later seasons and she was using the crossbow now I just wished she lived longer and Noah dying not long after Beth made her death even more pointless

Beth understood Dawns philosophy b/c Noah returned b4 she got herself killed. Beth knew that Noah would probably be tortured worse and then he would run and return over and over so Beth thought killing Dawn would solve the problem she just didn’t count on dawns gun having the safety off and that she had her bulletproof vest on when she went to stab Dawn w/ the scissors.

I don't believe that Dawn had any intention of demanding to keep Noah when the trade went down. She even said that she was glad they could work things out. She was done. Then she heard the other cops and wards whispering behind her and her pride got the best of her so she pulled that crap with Noah to just prove that she was still in charge and that she was the one controlling that trade, not Rick.. She looked over her shoulder just barely when she heard her people whispering and regardless of what they may or may not have been saying she apparently thought that they were saying she got screwed or whatever and that Noah got away etc and she couldn't let herself look like a loser So instead she she insisted on keeping Noah, Beth insisted on stabbing Dawn in her vest and Dawn accidentally killed her which got Dawn killed. Pride. It'll get ya every single time 😣🤔

To this day Beth's death is the saddest death in the series. And Maggie's reaction gets me every time. Although I am irritated with Maggie because following the attack on the prison she went out of her way to find Glenn and apparently forgot about the fact that she has a sister. Maggie acted as though "Oh well. Beth's dead. Too bad." She never said that but that is how she acted.

I agree with you completely. Dawn reacted out of instinct just as you said Training. She just reacted before she even had a moment to consider. And she definitely didnt mean to, she was saying so when Daryl shot her in the head. Still, she needed to go lol. A part of me felt sorry for Dawn though because I think that she had probably been a pretty decent person before all of this. And she seemed to really like Beth by the end. She was just a mess and couldn't put her pride away long enough to just let them all leave. She caused her own death by pulling that crap about keeping Noah and she only did it to prove that she was still in charge.

I just hope y'all know how loved and appreciated the two of you are! I have watched a lot of reactors that I truly enjoyed and I also follow a lot of other you tube pages and people, but I have never had any other person or group that I have enjoyed as much as I enjoy the two of you. It's crazy because I don't know y'all and y'all definitely don't know me, yet I feel like I do know you and actually think of y'all as friends almost lol. And please don't get nervous or anything. I'm a normal person raising fairly normal kids with lots of real friends that I love who love me back so I haven't developed any unhealthy obsessions or anything lol. At least not towards y'all. Now.....Andy Lincoln aka Rick Grimes.....my obsession for him is a bit unhealthy I am pretty sure 😎😉
Anyway, my point is that I am grateful for y'all and for how much time and energy you put into this. Plus you open yourselves up which allows folks like me to be able to feel like y'all are friends of mine. And I truly appreciate that so much. On top of it all , Y'all make me laugh constantly, and I love that. Sooo, I'm shutting up now. Oh, one last thing, I absolutely will be joining your patreon as soon as things turn around here and my finances improve a bit and I cannot wait for that day. I want so much to see your entire reactions. Anyway Now I'm shutting up. Hope all is well with you and your beautiful kiddos. God bless and take care 💙

After several rematches I still don't understand the people at the hospital....they just go around and kidnap people and nurse them back to help in hopes they will become part of them? And then the biggest thing I don't understand is Dawn seems like she is power hungry and sees everything as some sort of microaggression that is gonna cause her to lose her position? It's like even at the end there it looked like she was hesitant but just so she can have a leg up in this situation she wanted more than just a fair trade... just because she thought her people would think she's weak if she let them go? I really don't understand...if this is the case though Dawn is seriously fragile and on edge constantly.

Yeah, a sad moment for the group and sad to see Beth go without more scenes with Daryl. His character was very interesting when he was protecting her. Still extremely creepy to me how old the actress is when she was playing a 16 to 18 year old (16 on day 67 of the outbreak and dies on day 514) . Some Dorian Gray shit going on there I swear, she doesn't look a day over 20.
Dunno if you're aware but she's a singer also which is probably why they wrote singing scenes for her in TWD. Her name's Emily Kinney, not my type of music personally but it's always cool when actors use other outlets for their creativity so I always check them out.

I love that kiss on the head Rick gives Beth. This episode reminds me back in S2 when Beth didn't trust that Rick and his group would ever come to save her/Maggie/their family. That Rick would save his family and his group but not them and that they were going to have to fend for themselves. They've all come such a long way and ngl I really love Beth's journey.
This is the most Lacey has ever cried about a character. I couldn't really tell how much Beth meant to you guys tbh but it looks like you got really attached to her over time and probably used to having her around. It's a bit interesting to me that Steve expected her to die in S3 I think it was but in this episode he didn't expect anyone to die.
Something I always notice when people watch this episode is that everyone seems to agree the death was stupid and pointless but everyone cries over it. I think it shows how good the actors can really do even when the writing is really questionable. Most people generally seem to agree this arc was really odd and out of place and yet the actors can still succeed in bringing out emotion. There's also the fact that the actors have to film these scenes more than once and sometimes repeatedly. They've said before how emotionally exhausting it is to have to repeatedly redo scenes like this (and apparently this was one of them with Daryl walking out holding Beth). It still ends up this powerful and I think they're all amazing to be able to bring this out even when most people agree Beth's death was extremely poorly handled by the writers.

Beth's death was the first death I cried hard for in Walking Dead. I think I started when Daryl started crying (because when Daryl cries, we cry) But when the fire truck came up, I got worse. Even watching back now, when Maggie collapses, screaming, I still get a bit misty-eyed.

My reaction to this was pretty funny: When Beth got shot, I yelled "NOoooo!!!" so loud that my daughter-in-law, walking the dog, heard me waaaayyyy across the parking area, from about 30 yards away from our apartment. She still laughs at me about it till this day. I will never live it down. 🤣

Maggie's reaction was hard to watch, but it was Daryl that got to me the most. Beth was responsible for teaching him to soften up a little. And now, she's gone too.

What can I say about this episode?... Beth was one of the good ones who had so much potential to be more than what she's capable of. When I saw her die, my heart broke, tears poured out of me. To this day, this one still hits me in the feels. Oh Beth. At least she died being true to who she was: a fighter. Seeing Maggie regain the hope of reuniting with her sister once again after giving up hope that she's alive to then arriving and seeing her dead in Daryl's arms, is just truly heartbreaking. I have two sisters. I would lose it if I were in Maggie's place. It's an effing sad episode. That's what I'll say about this. Just sad. I feel you guys. Right there with you Lacey. RIP Beth.
*PS: I might not make it to the livestream later on today. My 1 yr old nephew has bronchiolitis and to top it all off, we have fire outbreaks out here in California. Please check on Nikki and Steven and see if they're okay. There's a major fire happening in Simi Valley where they're at. All schools have been closed for that county and they've started evacuating people. They're 2-3 hours away from me. And we just had a fire start close to us about 3 hours ago. The air quality is bad. And it sure isn't helping with these major strong wind gusts blowing like crazy over here. My throat is hurting from smelling it and we've got the windows closed. If I have the time to drop in quickly in the livestream, I'll stop by and then bounce lol. Take care guys. Send positive thoughts our way. These hardworking firefighters have been trying to contain these fires for a couple of days now, hundreds of acres burned and I know they must be tired as hell.
