Acts angry and endangering the group like Ty did when him Michonne, Daryl and Bob went for the medicine. Michonne had that same talk with both Sasha and Ty about being angry and stupid. I’m glad we heard Maggie “explain” her non emotion about Beth. Ppl think Maggie forgot about her; she never did.
    They had all just seen Hershel get beheaded. Then hell broke loose and she & Beth were separated; to Maggie, Beth was also dead (she had no idea she was with Daryl and ok)
    THEN she finds out she was alive but kidnapped... THEN she hears that she ok and at a hospital. Then on the way to see her at the hospital she sees her dead 😔

    This episode definitely showed our group at their lowest-ever point. I loved how they each came together one by one to hold the door of the barn closed though. That was very uplifting. Also, I always think it's weird when shows or movies use the title in their dialogue. At least this proved the point that "The Walking Dead" aren't the Walkers, it's the humans still alive.

    The scene w/ the barn door is so powerful at least for me b/c this storm was just a hardship for them to work together as a family. I mean imagine if Tyreese didn’t die last episode I’m pretty sure he and Abe coulda held that door down 90% by themselves since they are literal tanks.

    This is one of my favorite episodes even if it is one of the slower ones. Sometimes a break is needed to see how our survivors are faring mentally and emotionally and this episode does exactly that. I liked seeing how different characters deal with their grief. Maggie is ready to give up and stop fighting. Sasha is angry and wanting vengeance with no one to take it out on. Carol says she isn't able to let herself "feel it" while at the same time telling Daryl that he needs to let those feelings out. Rick is stoic in the face of all they've lost, enveloping himself in the leadership role. I always thought Daryl and the cigarette burn was his way of making himself feel something, anything. But I liked Lacey's interpretation of that scene as well. Either way, it was heartbreaking. I also liked his conversation with Maggie when he told her that Beth was strong because I'm not sure Maggie saw her that way (the little sister dynamic!). Great reaction from both of you. Keep them coming!

    This was a great episode for many reasons. First the title of the series is The walking dead and everyone from the beginning always thought the walkers was the walking dead, but nope we are the walking dead. I always believed it was the miracle of God who saved our people in that barn, he brought the Tornado at the right exact moment or they would have died because there were at least 100 walkers coming towards them. Now who In the hell is this Aaron dude? He looks awfully clean to be trusted don't you guys think? And how did he know the leaders name is Rick🤔 sounds like a stalker to me. Well can't wait for your next reaction to the last half of the season.

    First off, self harm is never okay, but it's almost poetic when Daryl burned himself. He was mourning Beth and at that point I think he got why she cut herself. It wasnt to kill herself. It wasn't for attention like he told her in Still. She just wanted to feel something. Also, the three people mourning the most were the first to get up and defend the group. No matter what they've lost or how defeated they feel, they've got to keep fighting for a better future and that's what the show is all about. And that's why this is one of my absolute favorite episodes of the series.

  • @maddielkaye
    @maddielkaye Рік тому

    11:47 Daryl does not do this in order to distract himself from his internal pain. It’s quite the opposite. Those of us who have survived extreme abuse (especially childhood abuse) have a tendency to shut down completely. We feel literally nothing. Our brains (specifically, the amygdala) chooses to do this subconsciously when the emotional pain becomes too much. It’s a form of self-preservation.
    My point is that in this moment Daryl feels absolutely nothing.
    Physical pain is grounding, it brings you back to the present. It makes you feel. Sure, it’s pain. But for us, you either feel nothing at all or you feel everything all at once.
    It was the only way he was going to be able to force himself to feel Beth’s death. And he knew if he didn’t do it, then he’d end up like Merle. Like Sasha. Like Tyreese, after Karen and David. Like Carol, after Lizzie and Mikka. It’s pretty rough 😢

    I really liked this episode cuz it showed us the group actually struggling. It's not something we haven't seen yet. They've lost everything and have lost some loved ones recently. Whether it's mentally, physically, emotionally or spiritually, the struggle is real. Seeing them as a whole unit being together and sharing each others pain, this whole ordeal is just bringing them even closer than before. And now we've got this dude, Aaron, who's been creeping around and watching them from a distance. Should they worry? Hell yeah. The group has yet to meet honest, good, caring people. With the exemption of Hershel of course. This guy, Aaron, knew Rick's name and knew he was the leader of their group. I mean, for me to get information like that, I would have to really stick around and see how they interact with each other and determine who is it that they all look to when a decision needs to be made. That's lots of time and energy being spent to do that especially in this world where you have to constantly watch your back and not make a sound and avoid the walkers. And he's been really quiet that even Daryl didn't suspect/sense someone being close by. So how long has Aaron been watching them? And what is his "good news"? Oh Rick ain't gonna be too happy about this. This is the part where I say, "Lucy, you've got some 'splaining to do." LOL!!! And now let's not forget the best part of Rick's little talk there about them being "the walking dead". That gave me chills when I heard him say that line. This episode was all about "them", Rick's group. And it also means something else but I don't quite know how to express it with the right words cuz it then becomes a tad spoilery. So with that said, I'll mention what else this episode meant on Wednesday. Later guys PEACE!

    I think the theme of this episode explores the acceptance of grief and finding one's clarity through that. In this episode, the viewers followed Sasha, Daryl, and Maggie coming to terms with who they lost and how they can keep moving forward. The reason for the title is due to what Daryl said when they were in the barn: "We ain't them." This meant he was separating himself from the walking dead despite losing part of his humanity along the way. He was reminded by Carol that it's ok to mourn Beth's death as long as he holds onto what's left and doesn't blame himself, such as telling Maggie how he came to realise that Beth was always strong on the inside even when she didn't believe it herself. Despite their losses, they're all supporting each other as a family. Just like when Daryl fixes the music box for Maggie who then plays it for Sasha, and when the three of them were the first people to run towards the barn doors to help keep them closed during the tornado. They're rising above their pain to work together - just like a group surviving the apocalypse should. This is what led to Aaron introducing himself, because he figured out Rick's group were good people and he would most-likely be safe around them.

    It's a shame the writers try to correct the Maggie error after the fact. She would've been looking for Beth after finding Glenn. There was no mention because the writers didn't think about it. I don't mind, the show is still fantastic.

      @@mythra7174 I don't know, usually shootings like that make the national news and there was internet. Some of the early attacks were filmed and up on the internet in Fear the Walking Dead. In the comic, Rick was comatose for a month, in the show it's two months.

    Them surviving the tornado was a miracle, then a clean, friendly, good looking dude popes out, says he has good news (stereotypical Christian/Jehova Witness greeting) , and the broken music box starts working all of a sudden. It's so full of overt Christian overtones, I don't understand how some reactors miss it lol.

    Ricks “We are the walking dead” was a huge moment in the comics, I’m still a little annoyed that the show had Daryl ruin that moment in the show

    • @trusttheuniverse9589
      @trusttheuniverse9589 4 роки тому +3

      themarine0316 I don’t think he ruined it, I think it was just taken out of context. Before this we see coral telling Daryl “you arnt dead”, because at the moment he is very numb to everything and because he’s mourning and not in a good head space. Daryl’s reply, saying “we not them” I think is him trying to hold onto his humanity, he didn’t want them to be referred to as the walking dead because that implies too much for him in that mind space, he didn’t want to wake up in the mind set that they are just waiting to die, or the “walking dead”. But more in the mindset of fighting to survive, that’s my 2 cents anyway

    • @TheMarine316
      @TheMarine316 4 роки тому +1

      Trust the universe but it shouldn’t have been taken out of context, it was obvious to everybody watching what Rick meant, to me they shit on this iconic moment from the comics but if it didn’t ruin it for you I’m glad but for me I can’t watch that scene without rolling my eyes 👀when Daryl says what he says

      Total respect to you if you liked Season 6. I liked most of it, but I think that's when the wheel starts getting loose. Season 7 is where the wheels have come off; Season 8 is the show trying to drive without wheels and running itself into the ground. Season 9 is when AAA comes to save the day with a brand spanking new car and it really takes off! The second half of Season 5 is awesome, though!

    No offense, but you guys reminded me me why needed to stop watching reaction videos because it reminds me just how much people don’t have media literacy at the moment it’s annoying as all get out. From people not even trying to put themselves in the characters shoes to taking 10 minutes to get basic things to not getting them at all and maybe worse, projecting what they want from the story onto it. It must be so frustrating to see for all the creators of these shows and filmmakers to see.

    • @DuoReacts
      @DuoReacts  Рік тому

      Literally everybody that watches TV and movies do this... that is the whole point. It's entertainment. Every person should be allowed to take from it what they will. That is the beauty of the art. The fact that you are so rigid about your takes is counter-productive in my view. If you don't like to see other peoples thoughts and views... then don't watch reaction videos... if your opinion is the only opinion you value... then you are probably right.
