This is a rough episode, especially on the back of the last episode. No matter how many times I see it or see others react to it, it never fails to get to me. However, it’s really well done. We see Tyreese confront every bit of doubt, guilt, and self-reproach via his hallucinations: Not killing the guy from Terminus, which led to Bob’s disfigurement. Lizzie’s and Mika’s deaths. Not seeing The Governor for what he was when his group first took up residence in Woodbury. However, the part that hits me the most is towards the end after the group gets Tyreese back in the car and they hit the road again. We see him sitting in the back seat with Noah, and then the occupants of the car change to Lizzie, Mika, Bob, and Beth (driving). It seems to be the show pinpointing the exact moment where Tyreese had “crossed over,” and was being taken to the other side by his previously departed friends.
Heather Ryan how couldn’t u think about that? This is one of the things that made Maggie and Sasha get closer and bond that why Sasha became one of Maggie’s most trusted friends we see that especially in season 7 when Sasha is with Maggie at hilltop
@@keaton5239 True but Lily was a very minor character and Tara hardly ever mentions her. Tara doesn't seem too devastated by Lily's death as opposed to Sasha and Maggie.
I know this is 1 year ago but it is still mind blowing that all of this deaths is because of The Governor he forced Rick ans his group out of the "Real World"
@@thegovernor1406 glad I’m not the only one who blames gov for all the tragedy they endured but there were good things that came out of it like Alexandria being the big thing b/c I never fully expected Rick and CO to make the prison last for the rest of their lives and if the Gov didn’t attack when he did then I’m sure something would have happened years later that forced Rick and co to abandon the prison or maybe Abe, Eugene and Rosita would have come to the prison and pitched the idea of getting Eugene to DC and they all would have voted to go or maybe then the Gov would have attacked and we would have seen Abe and Rosita helping to kill the governors militia and after the dust was settled and the prison was in ruins the group would have decided to go to DC and probably would have skipped terminus but that’s just my conclusion.
Beth was dead and didn't have her eyes on the road, and was STILL a better driver than Lori!!😂😂😂 Had to lighten the mood a bit guys, sorry. Great f'n reaction though. You guys made me get the feels all over again with this episode. This one hit me hard the first time around, as it was SUPER unexpected! Tyreese was always one of my favorites, and his last episode was beautifully acted by Chad Coleman and just a well done episode all around. The transition from mika and lizzie holding his hand, into the group chopping his arm off was another great shot, and one of my favorite scenes from the entire series and I'll never forget it. Rip gentle giant. S309-S509
Watching Lacey go through this was painful. I cried more watching this with you than when I originally watched this episode. Here I am at work crying like baby. Great reaction.
I know Noah was emotional this episode but I think he did a good job killing his twin brother walker instantly. He didn't hesitate at all and that's not something everyone can do. I think it's interesting how it's the antagonists telling Tyreese it's not okay, like saying he needs to go on, but it's our group's deceased members saying it's okay now and implying he can rest now. I think when he said "turn it off", that was Tyreese accepting his death. Sasha's situation and place in the story is interesting too imo. She's here with this group she hasn't known /that/ long and she's lost literally every single person from her old group. In a way it's like she's starting her whole life over. I love how Steve was so unsure how to close the video out that Lacey still laughed! Steve saved the day. Happy Lacey is the best Lacey.
The Last 5 Warriors of The World that’s how this show works the hopeful and generous ppl always die and it’s not always a quick death it’s drawn out or brutal like Hershel’s was brutal but also drawn out for a few moments b/c after he got his throat slit by the Governor. Hershel was able to crawl a long the grass until the Gov found him and finished him off w/ the decapitation.
I love all the little details they put in this show. As they’re driving to Noah’s home, Michonne looks at a barn; if you freeze frame on it, there’s graffiti “Wolves...”
FYI: Sonequa Martin-Green(Sasha) was pregnant during filming of this season. They covered up by having her wear thick layers of clothing and using larger guns to hide her belly. If you go back and rewatch this one, when she is putting the dirt on Tyrese grave, you can see her belly.
I love this episode with all the flashbacks, the clock that Tyreece looks at as he’s walking in is so cool it means “times up” because the clock is facing up it’s such foreshadowing
The only thing missing from this entire episode was a Karen flashback. At the end I thought for sure the last person he would see is Karen standing in light smiling at him. Tyreese was my favorite character at the time so I was pretty angry about his death. Other than that it was a perfect episode because Greg Nicotero directed the episode and his episodes are always among my favorites as visually gorgeous.
Man this episode brings back some memories. I remember when it premiered and thinking they were doing Beth's funeral. Tyreese's death was the first death that actually made me cry 😭😭 Sasha and Rick took his death the hardest, Sasha because that's her brother and I know Rick felt like he could never truly repay Tyreese for having and taking care of Judith. I remember when Tyreese told Rick that anytime he needed him to watch Judith he would gladly do it. He was part of the Rick, Carl, and Judith reunion 😭❤
Yeah..they gave us a 1, 2 punch. When this all aired on TV, Coda was the mid season finale. Then there was a 2 month wait. Then we were gut punched a second time with tyrese. 😫😞
This was such an emotionally exhausting episode because you're just watching a beloved character die for almost an hour. Tyreese was too good for this world.
the contrast between the calm scenario of tyreese's allucination with beth singing and the fast paced and bloody scenario with rick and the others trying to save him was amazing
I have a new appreciation for this ep now...never hated it.. guess I was always displeased with Tyrese's death..but after watching it with you guys I've realized this is actually a beautiful episode in a sense...
I always liked that episode it was like they was telling him that it's ok to let go..he was tired of all the fights and killings. I think it hit Rick hard cus he knew that his daughter could always safe with him...who cut the onions..everyone please stay safe and blessed much love from San Antonio
The last scene of all those past, conveying to Tyreese-in their own words, that its okay for him to let go and actually die, that they didn't have their fatality wounds on them. I think it was reflecting of what they look like now in the afterlife and that he was closer to death at that moment. Fascinating and sad. I hope all life passes this way, a peace in transition of death, but this episode made me feel the same sensation when I lost my aunt, my bird, dog and yes, corn snake last year all in fall, one after another. The silence give me chills and the music for it reminds me of "death's" atmosphere and I hate the reminder but I remind myself. Words are garbage honestly, they can't express as what you feel but its like a void of limbo, of silence.
Losing Beth and Tyrese is bad enough, ,but losing them back to back is brutal....that's why we love this show...the acting and characters are amazing and we fall in love with them....
Tyreese's death hit me harder than Beth's episode. This entire episode was tough to get through watching a man slowly wither away to his death. One of my favorite characters and a huge loss to the group.
My God, Lacey. I really felt your pain in this one. We all weren't ready for Tyreese leaving us - right after Beth. RIP Ty! You were a good man, in a horrible world. 😭 😊🌺🏝️❤️
This was a heartbreaking episode. What a great character. If I remember correctly, they mentioned on Talking Dead that the grave they were digging at the beginning of the episode was for Beth, then the one at the end was obviously for Tyresse.
Tyrese's death was handled really well. The man was too nice for this world and he knew it. It's why he didn't really fight in the end. He wanted to be free.
The sign about South Carolina is both of marker of traveling but also important to show they crossed out of Georgia. If you guys remember Daryl told Beth he'd never been out of Georgia. I wanted to give you two a little but after the last episode and now after this one I want to give you both a bear hug.....another amazing reaction as Tyreese would say, "you feel it, I know you do" and you could clearly see that in your sweet reaction. Thanks for this!
Tyreeses second bite was what most likely killed him. He probably would have lived if that other walker hadn’t come in or maybe he wouldn’t have but I always thought it was the second bite b/c Tyreese started losing blood faster.
Steve-"Someones gonna fucking die" Me-I thought Lacey was the detective of the duo. I remember the 1st time I saw this ep. The second they showed Dizzy Lizzie & Mika, I knew either Tyreese or Carol was gonna bite it. Poor Ty.
It's Bob's smile that do it for me. It just make me want to cry. But I'm holding on pretty good. Sidenote: I love when tv shows/movies bring people back. Just makes me wonder about that phone call the actors get asking them to come back for an episode. I'm sure gum chewing guy was shocked lol 😆
Lol I actually felt joy for seeing the Governor again. I mean, he was such an enjoyable villain to me. "A good character and "a good person" are two very different things. He was a great character with some very interesting nuance (that flows right over some peoples' heads since they are too deadset on thinking everything must be part of some grand evil plan of his 24/7).
Just wanted to say that I appreciate how attached to Tyrese you both were and how much emotionally it ripped at your heart strings to see him pass especially you Lacy. Its not often enough these days you see that kind of universal love for your fellow man or woman no matter what gender or color they are.
If you noticed in the house everyone's injuries were still there but in the car they were all healed...I thought that was kinda cool. Made me think he was in peace or something
In the comics, if I remember correctly, Tyreese had Hershel’s death back at the prison. This episode was sad, made sadder with Beth’s death in the previous episode.
The last two episodes have been so hard on our group. I really thought Tyrese would be saved, but unfortunately, we lost our big guy, who had a heart of gold. On a side note, during Tyrese’s hallucinations, the British voice on the radio is Andrew Lincoln, talking in his natural voice.

This time in the show was especially tough. I’m a few years late to your reactions but I cried with you. Wow I never realized there was hints to the wolves story this early and Lacey and Steve picked up on it so quickly damn I love y’all reactions because u guys really pay attention!
Great reaction guys, I know how you feel Lacey, I love how you show true! emotions, the Characters do mean something to us and its hard when they die. Hope you guys have an amazing day as well.💜🦋🌻
I remember watching this episode and when the suv is driving down that lonely road and stops... I began to tear, but when Gabriel began the prayer... I wept.
Despite me liking Noah's character, I'll always lowkey blame him for Tyreese's death. If he had just listened to Ty about not going inside his house we wouldn't have another tragedy on our hands. Ty was too kind for this world; RIP Gentle Giant. (I mean Tyreese should've also been more careful when he only saw one of the twins' bodies butttt I ain't gonna get mad at a dead dude.) Also I wish Karen was there to welcome Ty in his final moments - would've rounded off his death nicely (not that there was anything nice about his death).
Came back to watch your reactions again (its been long enough that I forget!) and I think this is the saddest episode of the entire series, maybe except for Carl. Losing Beth, and then Tyreese the next episode really took a toll on the viewers... I remember Twitter going absolutely INSANE that night talking about how they just did us soooo dirty 😂
The one thing I can say, you never do get used to losing beloved characters on this show. Its one of the hazards of the fandom. But it is a shared suffering, if that makes any sense.
Surprise fact, the British voice on the radio this episode was Rick (Andrew Lincoln) in his actual accent.
Wow
That's some awesome trivia. Thank you
tyreese death is very unexpected and the way rick cry out for his fellow brother , had me in tears
Rick was pissed b/c they had just lost Beth and then Ty right after.

Rick be like - "Tyrese saved my daughter, But i couldn't save him.💔"
Two in a row. That's what made TWD so unpredictably great.
Tyreese is and always will be my favourite character
Maggie lost her dad and now her sister?!
Sasha lost Bob and now her brother?!
Stand clear of these two!
I still miss Tyreese :(
Despite me liking Noah's character, I'll always lowkey blame him for Tyreese's death. If he had just listened to Ty about not going inside his house we wouldn't have another tragedy on our hands. Ty was too kind for this world; RIP Gentle Giant. (I mean Tyreese should've also been more careful when he only saw one of the twins' bodies butttt I ain't gonna get mad at a dead dude.) Also I wish Karen was there to welcome Ty in his final moments - would've rounded off his death nicely (not that there was anything nice about his death).
very good reaction guys.. sitting on my lunch break ... did somebody peel onions? now I have to go back to work with red eyes.😥
Again, I cried with u. The music is so damn sad aswell. Fuck u The Walking Dead for making me cry so much 💜
When you remember Beth awhhhh my heart just broke again :((
RIP Tyreese another amazing character we lose :((
Came back to watch your reactions again (its been long enough that I forget!) and I think this is the saddest episode of the entire series, maybe except for Carl. Losing Beth, and then Tyreese the next episode really took a toll on the viewers... I remember Twitter going absolutely INSANE that night talking about how they just did us soooo dirty 😂
poor tyreese. not a cruel bone in his body.
The one thing I can say, you never do get used to losing beloved characters on this show. Its one of the hazards of the fandom. But it is a shared suffering, if that makes any sense.
No greater love. Rest in Peace Ty.
Don't worry guys,i cry with you
This episode is so emotional.
A Gov appearance :D. This ep always gets me. Especially after just losing Beth. So unexpected. Beth's song made it more sad.
