      You ARE spewing nonsense right now you child.

      This has EVERYTHING to do with correcting bad claims and statements which everyone should do when it's present there.
      I don't have to assume you are a kid, you ARE a kid based on all the ignorant narrow minded claims you're making.

      And how many times do I have to say this you child?
      Simply talking about their gender over and over again is taking away the point of what made them popular to begin with. Imagine if they talked about their gender so much in the movies like the people in the comment section are doing right now? That would be monstrously annoying and miss the point on what made them popular to begin with.
      This has nothing to do with "free speech" or "expressive thought" at all you fool. It's about getting facts about a situation wrong and me having to correct others on it.
      I'm not going to "keep scrolling" because it's important to correct misinformation on things which you clearly don't understand.
      I'm not lacking "common sense" at all you stupid fool. I'm one of the few people whose actually using common sense to correct people which you clearly don't understand.
      You're just unbelievably stupid to understand how correcting bad argument or claims works and you think anyone can say anything under the name of "free speech" how stupid can you get.

    Impressive how with some few scenes James Cameron created chemistry between them without being forced or out of the blue. Also, the way he fleshed out the badass side of Ripley without ruining her vulnerable side as a human. She can wipeout an entire species, but she can still get hurt and is scared of things like all of us - that's how you write a great character.

    • @alaroche
      @alaroche 2 роки тому +27

      I literally said this exact same thing in another video. Cameron made her a badass out of necessity. It wasn;t forced like Hollywood creating these overly badass heroine movies nowadays. Ripley had to be a badass for survival...not because it was cool, or because she was trying to prove herself to the space marines.

      The look on Ripley’d face when Hicks pumps the grenade launcher.
      She shows that fear, and I believe it’s a very real reaction. Like Veronica Cartwright in the first movie during the Chestbursting scene.
      Despite her badass side, Sigourney wasn’t a fan of guns.

    • @The_Curious_Cat
      @The_Curious_Cat Рік тому +3

      @@253jacksonrhoads1 Yeah, I remember reading Sigourney Weaver was a bit surprised when the movie was so violent and military driven. That reaction to the gun either real or not, it's a nice touch since Ripley (apparently, although has an officer in space I'm sure she must've had some kind of weapon's training, at least small arms fire) but since she probably never handled that kind of weapon, it's way more natural for her to be weary of it rather then being immediately at ease just because she was the lead and a "badass". I think that's the fragility and vulnerability that Sigourney brings to the character, but when needed she steps up and shows her side as a natural leader, making Ripley a great character.

      Disagree. Hicks was hesitant to teach her how to use the grenade launcher because it doesn't take much(in terms of a lack of awareness) to accidentally kill yourself or someone else. Also knowing how to have the discernment to use it in close quarters requires special skill and training, something that takes time(a luxury they didn't have). This was more of an emergency crash course, so it makes sense as to why he was reluctant. It wasn't a test.

      The opening scene to Aliens 3 where (SPOILERS)
      Bishop, Newt, and Hicks are revealed to have died off camera between the two films was literally like getting slapped in the face. I remember watching Alien 3 with my Dad a few days after we finished watching Alien and Aliens for the first time, and the opening was literally the equivalent of breaking my fucking heart 3 times within a minute. As soon as the opening credits confirmed all 3 were dead, me and my Dad exchanged furious eye contact and wordlessly shut it off right there and pretended that Aliens was the only sequel. Hell, I would have taken them all dying in the crash landing over killing them all off screen. And it just makes it SO much worse when you pull shit like that in the sequel to a great movie, because it completely destroys the purpose and emotional impact of the previous films. Oh Ripley is going to risk her life to try to save Newt against all odds? Why even bother, she's about to be dead again anyways. What the fuck was anything in Alien's even all for?

I'm a woman and I greatly enjoyed the interaction between these two, it felt perfectly natural with a very nice dose of respectful chemistry. Plus Ripley is one of my all time favorite heroes _because_ she's so human and realistic, she faces a threat like no other and needs to learn and adapt. When the counter reads zero the gun is completely empty, therefore when the magazine is slapped in hard there still isn't a round in the chamber, the rifle hasn't been charged . We can see this when Ripley first tried to shoot an incoming xenomorph in operations, the gun didn't fire at first. Im suprised Hicks didn't tell her how to pull the charging handle to load a round possibly because his was full while he was demonstrating it and had a round in the chamber already.

    If this scene was written today in 2023 Michael Biehn would have barely started even showing Ripley how to even hold the gun when Ripley quietly snatches the gun out of his hand and in a flashy display of power, shows him how she is already quiet proficient with military grade hardware and don't need no man to explain to her how to shoot bugs....She also would be a genius tactical commander and a natural born leader who is *NEVER* wrong unless it's to another woman and is able to lead his own troops even better then he can even though she is a civilian with zero combat training...All because she was born with a vagina and it's a movie made in 2023

    ...And then the M41A was immediately replaced with the M41A Mk. II (Colonial Marines, non-canon) come the Fiorina 161 incident, and the Mk. II would itself be replaced with the M41A/2 (Aliens vs. Predator) come the Freya's Prospect outbreak.
    EDIT: And THEN, after the Freya's Prospect incident the M41A/2 would be replaced with the similarly named M41A2 (Aliens: Fireteam Elite) in the 200 year time gap between Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection, which ditched the now-misfiring underslung Grenade Launcher for customisability and improved performance. The M41A2 would itself be replaced with the Shockrifle come the year when the crew of the USM Auriga began their plan to resurrect Ripley and her Queen chestburster to breed a new race of Aliens. Depending on the version of events (game or film), Ripley 8 made use of the latter during her exploits on the Auriga not unlike her ancestor and the M41A before her, or she just used one to kill an Alien before ditching it altogether to rely on her instincts.
