    I stumbled over here for a little insight on moving a Pothos to a hanging pot in a Ball Python's vivarium. I have a few already thriving like crazy down in the main soil level but I expanded upwards another 18" with a spare tank I took the floor out of and have a new "canopy" area I want to hang some more plants in as I build on it. My BP realllllllly likes to climb and I realllllly like to build stuff lol! Pothos have been awesome as far as establishing in my tank and handling the "abuse" of the Ball Python occasionally crawling through and over them. Even the couple of stems he has actually trampled flush with the ground have continued on in a new direction - since they can grow like a vine this only gave a fuller look to the floor of my tank. Pothos are really an awesome plant. Easy, hardy, and really versatile. Edit: My pothos are in the "cooler" side of the tank - they are thriving like crazy with LED grow lights (non-heat) on a 12/12 cycle even in areas with non-direct light. In my snake's basking area, I grow Elephant Bush which is a succulent. They love the drier soil in that area and the bright, hot basking light. On that note, any succulent that is safe for you reptile is a great way to keep your basking area looking "green" as well as help retain some warmth in that particular area.

      Aww so glad you learned a lot! It may be okay if it gets a little bit of direct sunlight in the morning because it's not super hot. But I wouldn't put mine out for many more than 30 mins or so... Might be easier if it's in bright indirect light anyways that you don't move it so much? Best of luck! Enjoy your pothos!

    • @GoodGrowing

      Yeah candles can be harmful to plants. Even if the flame isn't near it, the heat from above and around the candle can still burn the leaves. Happened to my monstera ages ago! Best not to keep lit candles too close!

    Hi sweetie you are my absolute favorite plant coach . I love your videos. My question is when propagating pothos in water should the roots get light or no light. I saw a video about this and it was said that you cover the glass completely so that no light gets to the roots. I’m having a huge problem I just can’t seem to propagate any of my pothos . I have a satin pothos, marble queen, pearls n jade and a neon pothos but I can’t seem to get any of them to root . I use bottled spring water only because the city I live in the water is really bad. Hello. I found this video so helpful as I’ve just started my plant care journey (quickly getting obsessed though). I’d love a care video on Philodendron. I have a young heart leaf philodendron and at the moment it seems super happy but I think I’ll need to repot soon and I’m terrified of killing it. I’m also debating whether to let it hang or get something to help it climb but not sure what or how. Love the vids 😊😊 x

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  4 роки тому +1

      Yay I'm so glad that you're enjoying the videos! It's super easy to get obsessed with plants I know! I will defo be doing a philodendron video sometime in the next few months as I've just become obsessed with them. I didn't have any at the beginning of this year and now I have like 6 hah! Why do you think it needs repotting? Are the roots coming out the bottom of the pot? If you do decide to repot, don't stress! You can do it! They are pretty hardy so can handle the repotting, just be somewhat gentile. Hanging vs climbing is up to you though and how you want it to look. I personally prefer the hanging style but its really up to each person. If you make it climb, it will likely grow bigger leaves as that is something that happens! Sorry for the super long answer! Best of luck!

    • @abigailsharp7496
      @abigailsharp7496 4 роки тому

      Oh no thank you for taking the time to put such a good reply! I really appreciate it. I’ve got quite a few hanging plants now so thought I’d climb this one just to mix it up aesthetically. At first I thought it needed repotting because it looked a bit overcrowded on top, but I’ve checked and there are a few teeny tiny roots coming out the bottom, so I’ll leave it for now and keep a close eye on them. Thanks again! I found you through insta then got in a complete you tube hole watching all your vids lol but it’s given me a great new focus during lockdown and provided a lot of calm having an at home hobby x

    Great video thanks 😊 So I have about 14 water propagated Pothos cuttings that are doing great with growing 3" roots, and most have a new leaf sprouting out from the nodes. I'll be potting them in new soil today. Would you recommend using a liquid plant food with their first watering? I have IndoOne all purpose premium plant food 12-4-9. The soil though is Pro-Mix premium potting mix, and says it has slow release fertilizer in it that's good for 9 months. I don't want to give it root burn, but I think the amount of fertilizer in the soil is fairly low.
    Thank you!

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  3 роки тому +3

      I'd give them a bit of time to settle before fertilising as you don't want to burn their delicate water roots during the stress of transition

      The decorative pots I have don't have drainage holes. They hold the water in the bottom and after I've gone around watering all my plants (30 mins or so), I dump out the decorative pot so they don't sit in it! Yes, I usually wait until the leaves of my pothos get droopy before watering them again. Then they perk up several hours later :)

    My epipremnum still isn't growing any length. Got it about a months ago and all my plants are doing pretty good but this one. doesn't look unhealthy though. It's about 1,5 meters besides an south windows. hanging on the ceiling. any ideas?

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  4 роки тому

      Hmm It's probably just getting used to it's new spot! Did you repot it right away when you got it? If so, that may have caused a little shock that stopped it from growing for a mo. It should settle in soon

    Hi i don't understand the part of the variegated, because mine used to have alot of yellow variegated and they start to go, im in a summer área and i wanna know how to get them variegated back, thank you

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  4 роки тому

      If you've lost variegation, put the plant in somewhere with more light. Not direct light but closer to the window. This will hopefully give the plant the light it needs to start variegating more. Hope that helps! Best of luck!

      Oh no! It's possible it was overwatered before you got it and adding that extra water in didn't help. The best bet would be to repot it in some fresh dry soil. But while you're repotting, check out the roots and remove any black, squishy, rotten ones
