I happened to pass by a private property with one that had leaves of almost 1 meter long. It was climbing all over the exterior walls of that house. At first I couldn't tell what plant it was till I followed the stem trail all the way down to the bottom of the wall and I could not make sense of it. I didn't believe it. at the bottom it has the usual small photos leaves and at the top the leaves were huge.. enough to create a shaded spot to stand in.
Currently in India and the pothos here grow huge. on some plants a single leaf is 2-3 times the size of my head. The wild aroids here are also amazing. Definitely worth a visit if you are a plant lover.
I can’t wait to see what it can do too ! I wonder if it will fenestrate ….the anticipation…I agree, experimenting and learning along the journey is the best part of this hobby.
Your a hobby grower but you have taught so many people a lot they didn’t know about plants. I subscribed to other plant channels and I truly believe you created “chop and extend” now everyone is doing it with their big plants. 😊 Pothos are one of my favorite plants of all my plants I recently got a manjula since I saw yours I’m going to try to grow it on a moss pole
You are definitly one of the best when it comes to tropical plants. You may not know the science but you have the intinct and that usually goes farther with caring for something. My girlfiend's mom passed away and she had a pothos she liked a lot just growing out of control in a bin. I fixed it up for her and took some cutting which have started growing but I hope I can get them to grow this big for her. I'm sure she'd love to see her mom's favorite plant in a whole new light.
The Pothos Plant was one of the VERY first ones to start my Green Life Project! I cannot get enough of how it propagates so well in water 🙌 I just got the “N’Joy” Pothos with light variegation on the leaves 🍃 just beautiful 😍
Such a beautiful foresty home❤. The size and health of foliage of your plants always amazes me. Motivated to make my Manjula climb a pole now. The painting on the wall complements the plants so well. A meow back to 😺.
Can I have a moment to review this channel? This gonna be a long one. I'm 100% positive I wouldn't get any aroids if Jan hadn't created a UA-cam channel and if I hadn't come across his channel. PLANT CARE. From the beginning, I literally followed EVERY BITS of his recommendations - from pole diameter, pole height, nursery pot size, nursery pot colour, aroid mix ingredients, bottle-flipping watering technique, fertiliser brand, growlight hours, fan brand, furniture brand, furniture colour, decorative pot colour, plant arrangements, plant location, petiole-tying technique to chop and extend technique. I know I could follow his advice, NOT BLINDLY but rationally, because I'm in the same country as him, I live in a similar home environment as him, and most importantly I've got a similar sense of aesthetic as him. The only thing I didn't adopt was the growlight he used, too expensive in my opinion, so I ended up arranging a few cheaper alternatives vertically to fit the same functionality. PLANT SELECTION. I force myself NOT TO get every plant Jan owns, though scrolling his Instagram is like looking at a plant menu. Instead, I ONLY pick plants that I really like, those could thrive in my environment, and those growing patterns I could handle. To apply one of his best advice here, I ONLY get plant babies, so that they could get used to my care and environment in order to grow healthily into their more mature form. Now I've got M. Siltepecana, M. Siltepecana El Salvador, M. Dubia, M. Borsigiana, M. Adansonii, E. Manjula, E. Cebu Blue, E. Pinnatum, P. Glorious, P. Splendid, P. Micans, P. Ernestii, P. Florida, P. Brandtianum, S. Mojito, A. Vittarifolium, A. Magnificum X, A. Hoffmanii X, and O. Triangularis. FINAL THOUGHTS. Over the past 8 months, I started out as a uni kid studying health without any knowledge about plants, but I gave myself a chance to try something new outside my speciality, and I think I've found my new passion. I appreciate nature even more than ever. This channel really gives a very thorough care advice about aroids. I see NO REASONS you can't be a proud plant parent even if you're pretty new to this. To quote what Jan always says - Happy growing!
No one could go wrong if they follow Jan’s advice. I have found his explanation of things very clear and concise👍 (don’t know if you can tell but I’m a fan lol)
@Kathy Gallagher Feel ya. I use clinical practice guidelines to treat patients with specific conditions. And his vids just serve the same purpose but for plants 😂
This plant is just gorgeous. Thanks for the spotlight on it. You're 100% right about European houses and humidity. If we had 80% humidity inside, we would never get it out and have mold on the wallpaper within days. Mold due to high humidity is a very big topic here. Our houses are just built too sealed up.
Well, our houses have to be well insulated, since we have freezing temperatures/close to 0 for months. But actually, in Poland, our windows aren't as tight as they could be, it's safety law to have an airflow. Also, in my apartment building, we have yearly check-ups if our ventilation system is working.
For us to get 80% humidity we would have to be sealed up. When my ventilation was closed by accident, I got to 70-80% humidity in a few days, just due to drying clothes and baths/showers. When we fixed the ventilation it took our flat one or two days to get to 40%.
@@dominika3762 I'm in Germany and we don't have air flow in our three-pane-windows and we also don't have a ventilation system. The only opportunity for us to reduce humidity, is to actually open the windows, in summer and winter, despite the temperature.

Love your videos 💚 was so inspired I went down to Bunnings to get the stuff to make my own moss poles 😊 your moss pole video made it super easy. Now I have 6 poles and can't wait to see how my plants grow. Hopefully my Manjula will look as great as yours one day 🙏 Thank you for doing what your doing 😊
Good video. fertilizer is a general term, but it is still nutrient solution . Nutrient solution is just a more fancy term, but it's still fertilizer. What you mentioned here is ORGANIC fertiliser (the one that need soil and bacteria to be procesed into nutrients avalible for plants). Have a good day:)
I love your videos not only have your monstera albo video's helped me pull mine through our european winter. It surprisingly developed it's first new leaf too. Keeping my 🤞🏼 it has a nice balance of green and white. + your videos make me happy. We get little sun and little plant development over our chilly winter so seeing your beautiful plants trive in the Australian summer is like a mental health treat! Big thanks!
Great video! I love my Manjula, I found mine in a big box store for $4, a tiny one, it was the only one and in not such a great condition, but I wanted one so bad and took the chance. After some TLC and lots of patience, I have a gorgeous Manjula pothos that is so happy! He also lives in an east facing window with a skylight above him as well. Watching your video inspires me to put him up on a moss pole!
Your video was showed up on my homepage and I have listed it on my "watch later" list. First, your thumbnail is exactly whats on your video. Second, your title is simply what I need. BUT, after one minute of the video, I paused it and typed this comment, because I know I will love your channel since you have Brad? am I spelling his name right? ahaha, he is very adorable. And now I have to click that subscribe button and continue to watch the video.
Great video! I am now inspired to take the best cuttings from my Global Green pothos and grow them up a pole. Hoyas are my thing, but I have a few aroids I enjoy experimenting with. Thanks much!
I really really like your videos and they just encourage me (and so many other people) to try to grow on moss poles or to grow certain plants. Every day I go on youtube and look if you loaded up a new video, and if you do, it rella brings a spark into the day. Thank you :)
I couldn't wait to see this video! I LOVE ❤️ your Marjula! Holy Moly! 😍 I have an N'Joy Pothos which I'm enjoying! I put her under a grow light and I can't believe the size of her latest leave! I have loved plants since the age of 12. Many moons ago. I'm glad their popularity is immense! Such variety today. Congrats on 100K! Wish I had the courage as I have the knowledge.
Congrats on the +100k subscribers! So so well deserved and I absolutely love your trial and error approach. Also, making it accessible for everyone and for free, THANK YOU! Love all the videos and looking forward to see your plants and your personnal growth for 2023 😍🎊😎
Awesome video Jan. Just bought my Manjula and appreciate the tips. I hope I can see mine grow as nicely as yours. At least our Sydney climate will give me a helping hand 🙂
Congratulations on 100K!! You're really taking off. One of my favorite PlantTubers, with a flippin gorgeous indoor jungle. Starting to hear your specific tips and phrases cropping up in other corners of the plant internet now. Really love your approach, and - of course - your feline sidekick! Sending happy, planty vibes to you and Brad!
Jan....😊 WHAT A BEAUTIFUL COLOUR!!..❤️ I really like your beautiful Manjula.. I like the white color even though it's useless when photosynthesizing. It's unique.. This Manjula is in process and the green color is appearing too...and is very happy in your care..💖 Even the small leaves underneath are still beautiful as well..💚 Jan...It's true! ..about raining in our country. Shaking!..shaking!..is okay!. At my Place it often rains heavily ( for some days ). Right now It's raining as well. Many big trees and small plants are unable to withstand the pressure of heavy rain water. I was worried about my plants...😊 but I could smile because they greeted me, " We are dancing! The rain water is very refreshing! ".🌱.. It's undeniable that the next day there are always parts of the plants being damaged. That's how they grow outdoors..😊 You are soo lucky to have Brad who is always so adorable! I love you, Brad 😻.. All what you've done inspires me and all of us!.🤗. Congratulations on 100k 🎉 I am super interested in your Manjula as mine could be its twin. Growing up it’s pole at the same rate. So I am excited to see how they mature. I’ll race you to the top of the pole 😜
🥳 🎉 I didn’t notice how many followers you had when I started following you but you are well deserved on your following!!! I love your plants & it’s definitely goals for me!!!
Well done on the 100k Jan - hands down the best plant channel, and a superb technique that having been using it for the last year since i found you - defo works! Thanks for the effort and time you put in.
Congrats on 100K! Your success is no surprise to me! Your no-fuss approach is both inspiring and confidence building, and much of the expansion of my plant collection is due to your channel 😆 Thank you so much! I'm looking forward to watching all your progress ❤
Congratulations on the 100k subscribers! Your plants and your enthusiasm for them are really inspiring. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. I made my own mosspoles based on your video on them!
Congratulations on the subscribers! And, actually we ARE here for the cat silly. lol😉 Im puting my first plants on a pole , thank you for all helpful information!!
Aloha from Kapolei, Hawaii. Your videos have been inspirational. I’m just beginning my plant journey and am excited to create moss poles and hope to get even a fraction of the growth you have. Congrats on reaching 100k subscribers. Looking forward to your future vlogs.
Perfect timing. Congrats on your 100k subscriber point! I just went to the store today looking for pothos to get the same look. Can the leaves of a Brazil philodendron get large as well?
1) congrats with the 100k! 2) wow, maybe I should take my sad little manjula pothos out of its corner where it's being neglected and find a space where it gets a bit more love 😍
I`m impressed by your amazing plants. Also, I noticed you keep quite large plants in relatively small pots. Is it a key to success in growing large plants?
I'm really curious. Is there a reason you only have one stem from your moss pole plants growing up the pole? Would it be possible to have one or a few stems wrapping around the moss pole and being beautiful all the way around or would that take too much energy from the plant? I'm not sure how I will see your answer because I never see my answers but I hope I can get the answer to that. By the way I am new to your channel and absolutely love it and your plants just make me want to cry lol they're so beautiful and I've learned another whole new avenue for growing which I am anxious to try. Thank you thank you thank you.
Do you happen to know what causes the brown spots that can occur on the white parts of the Manjula leaves? I feel like every one I’ve ever gotten has ended up with these spots 🫤. And what was the link for the mother grow lights please? Congrats on your 100K subscribers 🎉
Congratulations on surpassing the 100k milestone. Very well deserved, for your stellar content 👏🏾 👌🏾 I always admire this manjula every time it is in shot. Simply gorgeous 😍 and our handsome Brad😍
So just found your channel, great content 😊, yup the question can the manjula be cut up and put on other moss poles to continue to grow or will it die?
Question: with a lot of your plants on poles, you put two or three plants in the pot to make it "full". However with the manjula you only did one. Is it because the leaves are closer together with shorter petioles than say the verrucosum? Congrats on hitting 100K! My local Facebook plant groups in California USA are all abuzz about your videos and methods. I love your videos and also as a fellow engineer, I appreciate the fact they are informative, logically presented, relatably humorous, and to the point.
Congratulations on reaching 100k subscribers! I only discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago and subscribed immediately. I think I’m a bit addicted at the moment to be honest! 😂 I’m keen to get started growing on moss poles but am wondering whether you start the plants on the moss poles all year round, or is it getting a bit late to do it now (early March). I’m in Adelaide Australia btw.
Hey there, I love your content, I’m am a double green thumber, meaning I can turn a dead stick into something green. I’ve had pothos and indoor plants my entire life, actually have a golden that is 25 years old that has traveled from Austria to the USA. Her name is Lucy and I have gifted at least 40 babies from her. Yes I’m old. I was going to ask about fertilizer ( then heard what you said) because I have NEVER had leaves as big as yours, of course I never knew about moss poles either. I would love for you to dedicate a video about fertilizer, maybe do some reviews on different types. That would be lovely. Thanks so much and keep ‘em coming.
Hi! Love your videos! quick question, how do you prevent/treat fungus gnats in moss poles? with soil, I think you can afford to let it dry out a bit which would deter fungus gnats, but what about moss poles that are kept consistently moist? thank you!
Thanks for your content! I have a couple of questions. Why do you only let your vertical plants grow on one side and not circle them around the pole? Is it an aesthetic choice or is there a different reason? What pot diameter do you recommend for small plants if I already want to put the pole in them? Thank you very much and greetings from Naples, Italy ❤
Wow! I grow pothos because I love the trailing look, but this is really gorgeous and impressive too! My grocery store golden pothos grow about a foot a month in my SE-facing windows. Do they slow down heightwise when they size up?

I am super interested in your Manjula as mine could be its twin. Growing up it’s pole at the same rate. So I am excited to see how they mature. I’ll race you to the top of the pole 😜
Thank you :)
I got this one too, in China we call it 快乐叶子 meaning "happy leaves".😄
🎉100k 🎉 you deserve it 👏

Your Manjula is inspiring!!! I really love the color pattern of my Manjula, but they are soooo slowwwww. That said, I still love em……..

This is the most beautiful manjula I’ve seen so far!
Aloha from Kapolei, Hawaii. Your videos have been inspirational. I’m just beginning my plant journey and am excited to create moss poles and hope to get even a fraction of the growth you have. Congrats on reaching 100k subscribers. Looking forward to your future vlogs.
Thank you Millie :)
Congratulations 🎉🎉, your plants are on another level, they are gorgeous and huge, oh yes, the new haircut looks great on you 🥰🥰
Thanks :)
Seeing your plants like festival
Perfect timing. Congrats on your 100k subscriber point! I just went to the store today looking for pothos to get the same look. Can the leaves of a Brazil philodendron get large as well?
Hey, yes I believe it can grow larger as it matures :)
1) congrats with the 100k!
2) wow, maybe I should take my sad little manjula pothos out of its corner where it's being neglected and find a space where it gets a bit more love 😍
Thanks :)
I`m impressed by your amazing plants. Also, I noticed you keep quite large plants in relatively small pots. Is it a key to success in growing large plants?
That’s just me saving space :P
Great content! I actually learn from you and your plants are beautiful. Congratulations on 100k!
Thank you :)
Yep can confirm when they climb they get big, ours just climb on the wall
nagyon szép a virág fáid gyönyörüek,,, szeretlek nagyon,,,
Blue Mountains here xxx🌳🌱🌲🌿☘
I'm really curious. Is there a reason you only have one stem from your moss pole plants growing up the pole? Would it be possible to have one or a few stems wrapping around the moss pole and being beautiful all the way around or would that take too much energy from the plant? I'm not sure how I will see your answer because I never see my answers but I hope I can get the answer to that. By the way I am new to your channel and absolutely love it and your plants just make me want to cry lol they're so beautiful and I've learned another whole new avenue for growing which I am anxious to try. Thank you thank you thank you.
I often have multiple plants growing on my poles :)
Simply gorgeous 😍 and our handsome Brad😍
thank you :)
Very sweet at the start, I would love it if you’d visit Berlin. We have some cute botanical gardens here. :)
Congratulations!!!! Well done!!!🥰
Thank you Nora :)
Awesome video on your mixes. Just excellent. USA here will be stocking up to change over from just soil.
Thanks :)
Congrats on hitting (and blowing past) 100k. Well deserved, Brad's indifference not withstanding 🤣
Thank you Dave :)
Ms Philodendron Micans says she is feeling excluded from the Velvet Group in the bedroom lol.
OMG Sydney! You live like this? Surrounded by large plants. Super cool!
Was thrilled to find great Aussie plant advice! 👏And of course we watch for Brad! 🐱
Thank you :)
I love this plant. ❤
Very beautiful! Could you wrap the plant around the pole? What causes the leaves to get larger and some leaves to split on others as they grow up?
I let the plant climb up by itself, forcing it to do something against it's growth pattern is usually not giving you the best results :)
So just found your channel, great content 😊, yup the question can the manjula be cut up and put on other moss poles to continue to grow or will it die?
Congratulations on your 100k + subscribers. Jan your planty content is fabulously real, and we really appreciate all your efforts+ zen Brad.
Thank you :)
ما شاء الله ich liebe blumen
DANKESCHÖN
Какая красота🌱🌿☘️🪴 супер 👍
beautiful, thanks for sharing this with us
What if mold forms on the moss pole? When keeping it moist? 18:39
that means you don't have good airflow
Question: with a lot of your plants on poles, you put two or three plants in the pot to make it "full". However with the manjula you only did one. Is it because the leaves are closer together with shorter petioles than say the verrucosum? Congrats on hitting 100K! My local Facebook plant groups in California USA are all abuzz about your videos and methods. I love your videos and also as a fellow engineer, I appreciate the fact they are informative, logically presented, relatably humorous, and to the point.
Thank you Sharon :) the amount of cuttings is usually based on how many I have available of a plant and what I want the plant to look like later :)
Congrats! Well deserved!
Thanks :)
Congratulations on reaching 100k subscribers! I only discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago and subscribed immediately. I think I’m a bit addicted at the moment to be honest! 😂
I’m keen to get started growing on moss poles but am wondering whether you start the plants on the moss poles all year round, or is it getting a bit late to do it now (early March). I’m in Adelaide Australia btw.
You are AMAZING. Love you ♥️
Thanks :)
I really enjoy your content! Well done
Thanks :)
Hayles I didn't know you were a plant fan, Dagz.
@@darylmoylan7699!!! I’m a bit obsessed actually ❤️❤️
Keiki paste on the empty nodes might make it create branches. I want to put all my trailing plants on poles but there really is no space. Haha
thank you for the enlightenment. I am one of your followers on tiktok and thank you also for your feedback on my comment on tiktok.😉👍🏼
Thanks :)
Thank you for your good video. Be green and sustainable🌲
thanks :)
Wow! I grow pothos because I love the trailing look, but this is really gorgeous and impressive too! My grocery store golden pothos grow about a foot a month in my SE-facing windows. Do they slow down heightwise when they size up?
Yes the internodal spacing decreases with maturity but also with light exposure. If it grows leggy, them it wants more light :)
What are your thoughts on feeding extra iron to your variegated plants for the green?
No need to just feed one mineral. Plants need minerals in a specific dillution/balance of all minerals so I use a liquid nutrient fertiliser.
