Nice healthy plants and a fun video. Thanks.I constantly trim back my pothos and put the cuttings in wine bottles, water bottles or anything that will hold water, keep them topped up and have pothos all over my apartment. Super easy and forgiving plant
I have a Pothos N’Joy and man it’s struggling. It’s been my most difficult plant so far which is crazy since like you said most people find Pothos to be easy! I went on vacation and didn’t water it for 2 weeks…watered when I got home and half the leaves turned yellow/brown and died. Cut those off - repotted because the soil seemed parched and now the soil is molding and and plant looks like death. Going to try to cut up the survivors and propagate and start fresh! Fingers crossed! It was so pretty when I got it.
I've had these in both bright, indirect light, and in a dark room with one window located under an overhang of a deck. They are tough plants! ETA: I got a Pearls and Jade pothos and a Neon pothos at my local grocery store. They're very pretty.
I'm getting my first pothos tomorrow and I'm so excited! I was a little nervous prior to watching the video, but after learning a bit more about the plant, now I'm just excited!!!
I had a Pothos when I was in college in the United States that I started from a cutting from a friend. His house looked alot like your house - lots of different plants inside. I don't know the name of the variety but it was variegated green and white. Some leaves had big patches of solid green or white and other patches of mottled green and white. It put up with a bit of abuse - forgetting to water it at times, I dont remember ever fertilizing or potting it on and it grew long vines - 6 to 8 feet - and never dropped a leaf. I gave it back to my friend when I returned to Canada after college and he was pleased by its growth too.
My sister in law just gave me a golden pothos start today so I'm binging care videos lol it's my first ever pothos plant and I am super excited to grow it!
This was a great video!!! Subscribing now! My grandma is an Ohio/Florida snowbird that likes to collect native vines and air plants in the winter. I’ve always admired a beautiful two-toned yellow and white pothos plant that she had scavenged and potted. She would just leave it outside her trailer when she would come back to Ohio in the spring and it was still kicking when she got back in October. Last summer she brought it back to put by the pool for the summer. It turned completely yellow and started looking unhappy. She told me to take it home to see if I could rehab it. I stuck it on a balcony ledge in my house where it gets no direct light and most of the plant has turned a beautiful dark jade green . I have a vine that’s 13 feet long! It’s my favorite of all my plants and I propagated plants for my kids to take with them someday. Hopefully we’ll all always have a part of my grandmas Florida jungle scavenge! 😜♥️
For such a basic plant that you can find basically anywhere, I'm obsessed with them. I really want one of every variety. So far I have a golden, marble queen, and a neon, cebu blue, and a satin (even tho it's not a pothos). Out of all of those I searched the longest for the neon and my favorite one is definitely my cebu blue. I found all of mine at Walmart except the neon, I got it at lowes. Now I really want an n'joy!! They're so cute.
My daughter got a green queen as a gift. Sat in her dark bedroom looking sad for a year. I bought a house and she gave it to me. I put it near a window with 8 hours of light and this plant is practically SINGING in front of this window! A very happy plant indeed!
My coworker had pruned her golden pothos and gave me some even though I didn't want any. I've barely done anything to the things besides put them in a glass and change out the water every week and they are putting down major roots and hella new leaves. I can't wait to pot them!
My mom gave me hers before she passed. I've struggled with it til where I had to cut all the vines and propagate them. It seems to be responding better.
I have a pothos that I brought for my fish tank. Lots of people out the roots in the tank and then let them trail. But not matter how I try the pothos just isn’t doing well. It’s lost all but 3 of its leaves and since I brought it and hasn’t grown in length at all. I’ve tried fertilising the tank, moving into more light, less light. Didn’t help. I’ve put it in soil, put it on my window ledge because I read that they like bright light, didn’t help. Moved it more into shade because some people said that direct light burns them, didn’t make any difference. I’m at my wits end and just don’t know what to do because everyone says these plant are so easy to grow and sooo hardy and so great and yet the one I’ve got is 2 leaves away from being dead!
Epic Gardening. Just giving an unwanted/not asked for update. I now have 7 houseplants in my bedroom at my place! I’m propagating my Pothos plants; like I saw in your other video! My plants are happy, healthy and so am I! Thanks for your advice and informational videos! I’ve learned so much!
I have one of these back in Utah. It takes 2 L of water once a week, and is so damn big, the vines are trailing onto the floor. My husband is having to train it to climb up something. It’s beautiful! It and the spider plant he are taking he is taking care of are getting entangled a bit… 😆 it is the only plant he is unable to kill. I’ve given him very simple instructions, such as to replant/repot it in a pot that is one and a half times the size of the original one once a year, put kitchen scraps that have been ground up into the soil once every six months or so, And give it the 2 L of water once a week, making sure to turn the pot as you water, and prune/pull off any dead leaves and clear them out of the pot so that the soil can breathe, and lift up the trailing vines a bit so that the soil is aerated just a little tiny bit.
I have the golden pothos but no one knows where it came from. Lol. My Mom does not remember and I just remember it being this one leaf plant. I now use it in my Betta fish bowl and it has about ten leaves. Also today my Mom got a package in the mail from my great grandmother and it had seven pothos plants! Two of them are the gorgeous marble queen which I have been wanting for so long. The rest I think are all golden pothos. I am not sure on two of them because It is just stems but they are alive. I put them in water with the smaller pothos from the bunch and now I just have to wait. They are so amazing and beautiful! I love them so much. I cannot wait to start propagating them and have my own pothos jungle in my bathroom and in my fish bowls. Hehehe. I have four fish bowls. I can't wait to have marble queens in them too. I'm excited!
@@GuacamoleyNacho I never did it. I had Betta fish. I just put the plant in and made sure it stayed at the top and not rooted in. They loved it. They looked happy and the plants looked happy too.
I have always had several pothos throughout my house, the most recent house I moved into they have completely halted growth. Not dying, but not growing either. Plenty of light, no change in watering, it’s really weird.
I just got a marble queen and a pothos picta last week and I live in the basement of a house. I'm so excited for my babies to grow. I never thought I'd be able to keep anything alive besides a cactus or succulent.
I have the Pictus, Neon, Happy leaf, N Joy, Brasil and Marble Queen, not sure of these are all pothos, love them all, but Marble Queen has got to be my favorite, since I took the prunes from my mothers plant about two years ago and have a beautiful full plant with lots of trails right now, from which I also took prunes who have been hanging in a vase with just water in there for over 1.5 years!! Doing nothing but just fill up the water every now and then. I love to see the roots grow. I know at some point its gonna want soil, had it before, but its easy to see and then the cycle starts again. Also gave lots of prunes away as a gift in a vase in a macramehanger, superfun gift and endless! All from the few prunes I took from my mothers plant. Who really never even repotted hers, doesn't fertilize it and hers grows as crazy for over 15 years already!! Just loooooooove this plant🤩 quick question for you though of you don't mind, my neon is in a southfaced window behind sheers (is that what you call vitrage.....?) and even though its trailing like a happy plant, its not so neon anymore, do you have any tips? Should it be in a bit of a darker space to get the leaves darker or could that not be it at all? Thanx for advice and all the info you give in your vids! Shout-out from the Netherlands 😄
HOW can your pothos be so BIG?? even before they start to trail? i thought they got bigger by age or only by giving them a pole or special special nursery poison only available in the buiz?? im desperatly trying to find someone who talks more about how to get them BIG (not just small leaf + stretchy all over the room) i want HUGE GIGANTIC ones like your green queen.
did you figure out where or how to get a potos huyge leaves? is it variety or just because of light and humidity? i know how to make pothos bushy. but my marble queen and varigated one have medium sized leaves.
Hello Kevin, fantastic information, did not know that about the pothos not flowering. My favorite is the Marble queen, mine is pretty big, But, this past summer I found a 4 inch pot of Manjula, wasn't sure what it was at first. I found it at walmart- marked as Pearls and Jade, which I also have a huge one and a small one. One I found 2 weeks ago at our nursery- it is a neon marble queen? , so pretty. Looks just like a marble queen but bright neon green, and variegated. Okay maybe I do not have a favorite, love them all! Happy growing!
My mom has been growing these for years and I believe her oldest plant is nearly as old as I am. She does place nails around the walls and hangs the longer vines over the nails it looks very cool.
Thanks so much for the advice! I just picked up a Pothos today at Walmart and I was worried about lighting. I have South and West facing windows but I placed my plant on top of my writing secretary along the south wall of my room. Hopefully, it will do fine.
I'm having mine on my office desk which isn't close to any window. However, I put it near a South facing window in weekends so it gets its needed sunlight dose.
My fav is Marble queen, i also have green queen and golden pothos, would love to add neon and satin to my collection. Marble queen and freen queen i brought it from india to a gulf country where i live now and its growing well in water and soil. Golden pothos was gifted to me by a friend. Very easy to maintain, love growing pothos
Cebu blue pothos is my favorite , I got it as a few cuttings and had no idea it existed but it is available to buy online though a bit on the rare side
i was recently given a pothos from a friend who was moving and apparently it’s a satin pothos! pretty cool! it has three strands in the pot, i took the least healthy looking one and put it in a wine bottle a couple days ago and it hasn’t sprouted any roots yet but i believe in it, i sprayed some plant food on it. the others had kinda trailing ends that didn’t have leaves or had very few leaves, i cut those off because i figured that was probably for the best
Thank you for sharing this information. I’m into plants now and my son gave me a pothos golden which I didn’t know about it but after watching your video I’ll try my best to take care of it.
Hello! Two things: which soil would you recommend from a store like Lowe’s? And also, do pothos need to be moved to a bigger pot as they grow? Especially if we re-add clippings? Or can they stay in the same hanging basket and conform to its home?
Organic soil. You don't have to move to a bigger pot they thrive when root bound. You can take clippings and just pin it down in the dirt of the same pot or can propagate it in a new pot. Just take a clipping and put it in water. When you see roots growing you can put it in soil.
I'm a total newb when it comes to houseplants. My favorite so far are Neon Pothos. I had purchased 3" starters from Amazon. I re-potted them in a white, rectangular, self-watering planter on top of my toilet tank. No other room needs air purifying plants more than my bathroom. :)
@@GuacamoleyNacho I can't tell, either, so I'm not sure if the Neon Pothos plants I had were producing cleaner air. That bathroom didn't have windows at the time and had a definite mildew smell I needed to get rid-of. I had read that certain plants clean the air so I went with a few Neon Pothos. I loved the size and colors of the leaves, ease of care and the fact that the plant didn't need much light. I later had to add a small fan for ventilation because the plant's health started going downhill, but with the Neon Pothos I also noticed within a couple of days of purchasing that the bathroom no longer had a mildew smell!
I was wondering why all of my soil propagated pothos died in a matter of days! I thought I did something wrong and come to find out they prefer water propagation.🤦🏽♀️ I just ordered a 36 pack of glass test tubes. I'm a huge plant nerd but just started growing my first ever Pothos. I went to my grandmas house who is 90 years old. She lives in Michigan and I live in Oregon. She had a plant sitting in the corner of her house. I ask her about it and she doesn't know what it is but says my uncle got her the plant 35 years ago. It has been sitting in the corner of that room ever since. It has never once been outside. My grandma doesn't have a greenthumb at all. I asked her if I could take a cutting and I pulled up a portion with some roots and I just got back to Oregon and potted it.
My favorite variety of pothos is a tie between the silver satin and the Manjula (Harlequin) pothos. Pothos 'N Joy is also really cool with the high contrast of white and dark green variegation.
I cant for the life of me seem to get my pothos to grow, they dont grow very fast and when they do grow its all one sided. I cant get the fuller look. :-(
Ihave both variety about 10yrs, or more, our 81yrs.old mother has beautiful pothos in large pots and glass vase, with.water,a and you can see the beautiful root on the plants, yes they live really good in water.you do have to change the water because it do get cloudy.
I have a pathos plant I got from my grandmother's funeral 16 years ago it's almost died 3 times. Right now it's down to just one Vine and now that I see that you can propagate them I think I'm gonna do that.
I just got a golden pothos today :) I have a medium size aloe Vera both plants seem low maintenance so that’s why they are my first but the golden pothos was one of my mom had a very tall one and the vines wrapped around the ceiling and I loved that. Want the same.
It’s funny you should mention the idea Frankenstein Pothos with three different kinds. I just bought one today. I’m about to take it apart and see how many different plants I got in there. Keep a few for myself and sell the rest.
I have a golden pothos I nicknamed lady bug. My mom got it for me when it was tiny in a lady bug pot. Its huge now and I've made 3 other plants from it, one of which is kept in just water. Being able to see the roots grow is great! I also have a silver pothos which is pretty too.
My favorite as well. Im a sucker for variegation that can reach the whitest of whites and the deepest of greens. This one has little to no yellow and actually reaches pure white. Lovely shades of green from deep to lime and whites from pure to cream. You can really see the 3 layers of color in the leaves and where they overlap to change the shading. I found mine online at Hirt’s and was dirt cheap ($3 for a 4” pot +shipping). Instead of being a single established plant, it’s about 6 well rooted and 4 unrooted cuttings. The medium it came in was not ideal, 100% compost (zero drainage & super saturated... healthy compost, though) once repotting was done... pure joy. It arrived a day early and well packaged. If you get one, just repot it right away... lots of negative reviews I read were from people that kept it in the nursery pot and didn’t understand why it slowly died.
I love a man that loves plants..I've had Philodendrons all my life..is a philodendron part of the Pothos family.. my daughter in law gave me a pothos cutting it's in water..my sister -in - law gave me two Pothos leaves with roots..one in water one in soil..seems like I don't do well when they're in soil..but I'm gonna follow you & see what happens
Not to say that you're not caring for your houseplants properly because they look great, but an important thing to know about variegated plants, especially pothos (I have a marble queen myself and have witnessed this happening), is that they do need a lot of sunlight to maintain the variegation. Since they need the chlorophyll to photosynthesize, if they aren't getting enough sunlight, the new leaves they produce will be more green (less variegation). My marble queen lived in part shade for over a year and grew leaves with hardly any variegation, and since I moved into a house with a south-facing window (where she now lives), she's grown beautifully variegated leaves.
What's your favorite pothos variety and where did you get it?

Well, to be honest, except for the word 'pothos' which is still used, I had to look what the other words meant, because they did sound greek, but even I had no idea, because they are not commonly used ones 😸
I’m renting a tiny apartment while I’m in college and I really only have a spot to put one plant, and I’m really interested in pothos because it seems doable and they’re so pretty! Thanks for the guide!
Pothos is a great "only have space for 1 plant" plant
I like to give my pothos water left over from boiling veggies and sometimes coffee grounds.
Good way to make use of water that would otherwise be wasted
oh really??
Interesting. Does it work?
YES! Spread the love for cooking water^^
Noodles, rice, potato or veggies! Everything is great
How often do you do this, please? Thanks!
Nice healthy plants and a fun video. Thanks.I constantly trim back my pothos and put the cuttings in wine bottles, water bottles or anything that will hold water, keep them topped up and have pothos all over my apartment. Super easy and forgiving plant
Love that, I'm going to have quite the jungle myself over here!
I found a sliver pothos at Fry's grocery store in AZ and at Walmart. I'm growing a cutting in my fish tank. Its growing great.
I've had these in both bright, indirect light, and in a dark room with one window located under an overhang of a deck. They are tough plants! ETA: I got a Pearls and Jade pothos and a Neon pothos at my local grocery store. They're very pretty.
Yeah they can take just about anything!
how are the pearls? i heard they need lots of care
I'm getting my first pothos tomorrow and I'm so excited! I was a little nervous prior to watching the video, but after learning a bit more about the plant, now I'm just excited!!!
OMG! A HOT plant daddy?! Hello!
Adam Phan I know - and his voice...😛
He is, isn't he. 😍
Ali A Love wins. ALWAYS 🙌🏻♥️😘
No homo 🙅♀️
Jk ^^ youre right~
😂
I had a Pothos when I was in college in the United States that I started from a cutting from a friend. His house looked alot like your house - lots of different plants inside. I don't know the name of the variety but it was variegated green and white. Some leaves had big patches of solid green or white and other patches of mottled green and white. It put up with a bit of abuse - forgetting to water it at times, I dont remember ever fertilizing or potting it on and it grew long vines - 6 to 8 feet - and never dropped a leaf. I gave it back to my friend when I returned to Canada after college and he was pleased by its growth too.
I just bought a Marble Queen, its so beautiful ! Hope I can keep it alive. Thank you for your tips !
Good luck!
My sister in law just gave me a golden pothos start today so I'm binging care videos lol it's my first ever pothos plant and I am super excited to grow it!
Will pothos affect or change my ethos?
🤔🤔🤔
It might your pathos❤️❤️❤️😂😂
Lmao
Maybe your logos...
Ethos, Pothos, Logos😂
yvonne stefanski I wonder if all the chlorine and muratic acid from the pool were what was hurting it. I’m glad you “fixed” it. 👍🏻
Just got a pothos plant today & I learned a bunch from this video thank you 🙏🏽
I bought a golden pathos because my sunroom is yellow and the variation just really complimented the room.
Ahhh you have a Cebu Blue I'M JELLY
Neon pothos are my favorite, especially during winter! Really bright and vibrant. I found mine at my local hardware store
Love neon...one of the only ones I don't have
House plant beginner here; I just got some new plants yesterday and I’m so excited to learn all there is to know! Your channel is great!
Get after it Erin!
I love pothos!! All varieties, but my favorite is the marble queen.
Gorgeous isn't it
I have one of these back in Utah.
My favorite pothos plant is the marble queen 🤗 I bought in a little flower shop in Edmonton.
Fantastic variety!
Blue pothos i live in Newfoundland i got my from a friend and i love it
I have the Pictus, Neon, Happy leaf, N Joy, Brasil and Marble Queen, not sure of these are all pothos, love them all, but Marble Queen has got to be my favorite, since I took the prunes from my mothers plant about two years ago and have a beautiful full plant with lots of trails right now, from which I also took prunes who have been hanging in a vase with just water in there for over 1.5 years!!
Part of these is the way they're propagated. There are a TON of individually propagated leaves in these pots to make it super bushy
Green queen also has bigger leaf than the golden potho, and much bigger than the marble, and the satin.
Ryan Singrossi I have seen Golden Pothos leaves that's 3Ft wide here in the wild. It's seriously SO common lol. They are VERY HUGE! 🤗🌱
did you figure out where or how to get a potos huyge leaves? is it variety or just because of light and humidity? i know how to make pothos bushy. but my marble queen and varigated one have medium sized leaves.
Amanda on "Planterina" has this exact video on how to make your plants get big leaves.. Check her out. She is fantastic with plants
I also love clay pots for indoor plants. It's truly the best pot material
Beautiful plants you got there. Your potho's leaves are so huge. Love it!!
Manjula Pothos is so beautiful, it’s my favorite.
No need to pick a favorite when they're all so awesome! Happy growing.
@@epicgardening Indeed! Happy growing!
Hey! I know you 😊
How's your studying going? I was watching your Chanel earlier
It'll do just fine, they're very tolerant
I really want to get my hands on that one!
Ana Dorsett oh my gosh i need to add one of these to my plant collection 😍
www.joshsfrogs.com/epipremnum-pinnatum-cebu-blue.html they're available here!!!
I need one.
Lowe's has Cebu blue... that's where I found mine
i was recently given a pothos from a friend who was moving and apparently it’s a satin pothos! pretty cool! it has three strands in the pot, i took the least healthy looking one and put it in a wine bottle a couple days ago and it hasn’t sprouted any roots yet but i believe in it, i sprayed some plant food on it. the others had kinda trailing ends that didn’t have leaves or had very few leaves, i cut those off because i figured that was probably for the best
My favorite is the Satin pothos and I just got one today called “pothos N’Joy”
That's a fantastic variety!
This is the only person I trust you tubing plant tips from.
you should get a Peace lily and do a video on it!
Will do!
this creature is so easy to take care of. mine trails really long, great for indoor
I just bought one today and I named it Sherman 😆! Lol
LOL nice
Lovely!
I’m about to be SO unhinged propagating making Frankenstein style pothos and no one can stop meeee!!!😈😈😈🪴🪴🪴
I just picked up a gorgeous marble queen pothos from Trader Joe's! My first one and I'm loving it
Nice! Trader Joe's for the win, baby!
I love green queen.. I have never seen that. I have only seen the variegated variety which bores me.
Yeah, it's one of the funny plants where the non variegated variety is more Uncommon!
Thats why i hunted done a jade pothos, so simple and solid dark green.
Down*
One of my Marble Queen tendrils reverted back to solid green, so I kinda got a Green Queen, except is grows as slow as the Marble Queen.
Listening to ur voice plus what ur talking bout on plants is just so satisfying... Keep em videos coming 😘
I have Golden, Marble Queen, literally three leaves of a formerly lustrous Jade N Pearl, and I mistakenly have what I thought was a Silver Pothos. Come to find out it's a Silver Philodendron.
They're commonly confused!
Heyyy new here and so so happy to be here ❤️❤️found myself Pothos at Home Depot! She called me over to her lol mind you I put her back down and went die another and it didn’t feel the same energy from the first pothos whoaaaa🥰🥰🥰🥰I love her I know a little bit from a child my mom planted these and the snake plants a long table bu the window I loved it looking for that one pic over the next few months as I unpack❤️❤️❤️I think I over watered but today after watching your video I will depot her and be grateful for her and talk to her 😵💫😵💫😵💫😩😩😩🤩🤩🤩🤩😂😂she’s gonna do so well for me I just feel it! I loved your video and will be back as we shift from NY to FL in a week or so✌️✌️✌️😍😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Interesting side note: Spider plants are NOT companion plants with Pothos.
Great tip there Marie!
Will they not survive together? Good to know because I've been considering mixing a few of my plants
@@sarahkanieski8293~ My experience/observation was noticing my luxuriant spider plants actually being decimated by close proximity to aggressively growing Pathos plant. I lost about five of my six pots of spider plants!
My mom got a Pothos plant when she gave birth to my brother 49 years ago and it's still alive.
where did you get your "propagation station"?
Amazon
my sister told me she wanted to buy new plants... so i’m getting her one of these for her birthday. i also got myself one because i wanna become a plant mom, which is why i’m here 🤣 ive only ever owned succulents and i cannot take care of those of my life depended on it so i thought i’d try something new for once. let’s hope this one doesn’t die :’)
The basic “B” pothos was my first house plant!
Also, this is a good lookin plant man 😎
You're too kind!
My pothos colection consists of:
Satin
N'joy
Neon
Marble Quinn
Golden
I love them, they are just beautiful 😍, got them all from eBay for a nice price.
"it's not a crime, it happens all the time!" 🤣
My favorite variety of pothos is a tie between the silver satin and the Manjula (Harlequin) pothos. Pothos 'N Joy is also really cool with the high contrast of white and dark green variegation.
N'Joy is great!
I cant for the life of me seem to get my pothos to grow, they dont grow very fast and when they do grow its all one sided. I cant get the fuller look. :-(
Don't stress about the fuller look, that's almost always from planting many cuttings in one pot
Ihave both variety about
10yrs, or more, our 81yrs.old mother has beautiful pothos in large pots and glass vase, with.water,a and you can see the beautiful root on the plants, yes they live really good in water.you do have to change the water because it do get cloudy.
I have one of this but always had it in water like my mom did. I've had it for years and she's still going.
I have a golden pothos I nicknamed lady bug. My mom got it for me when it was tiny in a lady bug pot. Its huge now and I've made 3 other plants from it, one of which is kept in just water. Being able to see the roots grow is great! I also have a silver pothos which is pretty too.
Incredible, you can really have an unlimited amount just from one mother plant!
My favorite Pothos is the green queen, thank you for the information
I've been growing pothos in my aquarium. They bring nitrates down in the water and they look good too.
:P
I think my favorite is the pearls & jade pothos that I got from either Lowes or Home Depot, my two main go-to plant shops. 😊 💖🍃🌸
I need to check that out ;)
My favorite as well.
I have seen these planted outside next to trees in Florida. It will grow to the top of the tree and leaves will be huge.
I just planted a propagation from my roommates golden pothos 🌿
These plants are real resilient. I have 4 small children and my plant has has a hard time, but have always found a way to survive 😂
Every 2 weeks I use the dirty water from my fish tank as a fertilizer, works amazingly well.
My favourite are jade pothos and neon pothos got those from garden goods direct ,I also luv the marble queen pothos
Yeah, I love neon so I'm hunting one down!
Thank you for these tips. The specific way you covered everything was extremely helpful. Great detail and advice. Much appreciated
