My horticulture teacher gave me three snake plants that he was just gonna throw away, and their leaves were brown and dry at the tips for under-watering. I’m going to try to help them recover by repotting them and giving them a regular watering schedule. Thank you for the overview!
I pretty much just water mine when I pay the electric bill. Benevolent neglect is the technique that works best with these.
Ooh yay new plants!! Best of luck trying to recover them!
Can you please repeat the video and please give me the details I'd like to order some
My mom and I just got 5 pots of these for only $10 what a deal!!
That's an amazing deal!! Jealous!
Socialist Monkey I bought one this week for $14. But in the Philippines, you can get them much cheaper because it’s very common there.
I can see a lot of this in our province. And it's free hehehe greetings from the Philippines 🇵🇭❤️

So glad you enjoyed the video! Thank you for watching!!
Sansevieria when given optimum conditions require regular watering . They also grow faster in optimum conditions. I live in Alabama , US and they're actually cold hardy here. They're versatile and sturdy !
Tracy.. is your regular wartering like a full cup of water per week? or other?
Great video, sansevierias are my favorite! New to plant life and now a new subscriber! Keep the content coming!
Aww thanks for watching and subscribing! So glad you're enjoying! Is there any specific content you'd like from me?

Thanks for the info. I plan on getting one for my room so that my reef tank can get more oxygen and hold less co2. Ultimately raising my pH level and making my corals more happy. I love when nature works in harmony!
Woah that's pretty cool! Can they live under water?
@@GoodGrowing no idea. But the air quality above the water does effect what's in the water
@@talontd3727 Woah that's pretty crazy!
Got mine today! Very helpful video! Thanks!

Snake plants native is Africa, they need a lots of Sun light. In Disney land in Orlando, they grow up in full sun in the park, they grow up healthy and flowing.
I loved this video.
In South Africa we call the snakeplant "a mother-in-law's tongue. Lol!
Thanks for the info.
I love this plant.
Hugs from SA....
🤗🤗

Just purchased one to keep me "busy" during quarentine I have a black thumb though so hoping for the best
This is the perfect plant for black thumbs! Just be sure not to over-love (water) it in this quarantine time! Best of luck!
@@GoodGrowing I picked up a few more plants today lol an orchid, a marginata magenta, and a cute little cactus! Im really adoring the marginata but have no clue what to do so gotta research now lol
@@Ashley-ce6vn ooh yay more plants!
Consider buying a moisture meter... it stops me to add more water to the already wet plant.
they do not like water, just remember that, only way to really kill one is to over water, and these are most certainly killable IF you over water
one of the best snake plant videos I've seen.
Aww thank you very much! Very glad I could help
this is helpful to me thank you!
My bestfriend gifted me 2 snake plants! new plant parent so here I am !!!
Ahh amazing! Welcome to plant parenthood ;)
My mom in twenty eleven
“Hmmm , yeah this will survive in the winter”
My snake plant has what looks like bites on it.
What would that be?
Nice video 🧡👍
Very informative video 🧡👍
so obsessed with your pots
Just got a large cutting from my work and am starting one now cut them in around 2 inch pieces and put them in a pot they should root in a few weeks I'm excited! Cant wait to have them take over my room haha
Amazing! I certainly want more!! My snake pups have grown so much in their mama's pot that I'll probably divide them and repot soon!
When I punmy cuttings in dirt.....they die😱. What I doing wrong?
Giirrlll thank you!
Thank you for the information. I just purchased my first snake plant and didn't know how to take care of it.
I had one of these and I killed it with love. I really tried to grow >t but this darn house is dark
yeah if it's not getting much light they really don't need much water
Great video 🌱🌱🌱
Thank you so much for watching!
Good Growing :) welcome
I really appreciate your planes be gone song. It worked!
Hahah yeah gotta do something to make them stop ;)
Great video and insight! I went out and bought a giant snake plant after this. Ok, what are the plants behind you? They look wonderful!
Aww thank you! So glad to hear that you got one for yourself! They are such great plants! The plant behind me is an areca palm! Thanks for watching!
I have some snake plants (2 sansevieria superba and a hahnii), I had them in my east facing window and continued to water them around every 3 weeks (as I did during winter). They actually shriveled up in the longer hours of sun that we get around Stockholm, Sweden this time of year! I moved them to the west windows, where there's considerably less full-sun hours and they're much happier now. Not really sure what I can keep in the sunny east window now though.. I have some small aloes there lol
Yeah lots of houseplants do not like long hours of direct sun. The only one's I can think of that would love that would be some succulents or cacti. Or you could get a sort of sheer curtain and make it indirect bright light all the time which would be ideal for lots of different houseplants! Best of luck in your search!
Can’t wait to get snake plant! My next plant :)
Beautiful plant 👍
He’s right next to your bathroom sink and you forget to water him lol I’m wheezing 😂
Thanks, I just bought one of these, and it's 5 feet tall.
Holy cow! I keep seeing really massive ones on IG and it makes me want one so badly! Enjoy your big boy!
Why would ppl dislike this video? You were informative and yourself! And you’re in the uk 🇬🇧 🙌🏼
I bought two snake plants about a year ago. One of them sprouted two other plants and the other sprouted one! I now have 5 plants :D
YESSS! Love this!
Here in Brazil this plant is also known as Saint George's Sword or Saint Barbara's sword. It's known in our popular superstition and in African Brazilian religions as a "magical" plant. My grandma says that it protects you against envy and bad energies.
Ooh I love that information! Thank you so much for sharing!
Wow love this thank you for telling us
You are right, less water is needed. I have divided for a few pots and all look healthy now after a few weeks. Had soft watery tissues of leaves when over watering. These are hardy plants. Fertiliser makes them strong especially with potassium.
Glad to hear it's going better now!
Very Nice presentation
My husband just purchased this for my birthday today 🤗
Ooh very exciting!
Awesome thanks
love watching your video!
Aww thank you so much
Good Growing you r welcome.. i just owned my snake plant in my room huhu
@@izzataiman2783 Ooh so exciting!
I just found you on UA-cam and I’m
so enjoying your videos! This one is really informative and straight to the point “ which I like! I was wondering if I could place my snake plant by a south-west facing window. I know they’re really tough but will all that sunlight burn it’s leaves?
Welcome! Glad you're enjoying! Yeah a SW window should be okay depending where you live. In the UK it would probs be fine as we don't get loads and loads of hot sun, but warmer/sunnier places may be too much. Just keep an eye on it and look out for sunburn
Easy like ignoring. If you actually water every week they are hard to skip over. Like I want to water them but I know I shouldn’t 😂
Yeah I know what you mean. That's why I'm a bit glad mine's in my bathroom alone!
Thanks for the video. Can you make a video on flowering plants like mums, or geraniums that could be made to grow indoors? More details on the soil type will be appreciated. As that could get very confusing. Thanks!
Thanks for the video, I have a quick question : in a medium size pot, I seem to have two roots. Should I separate them or do they like to be together ? İt seems crowded, I realised that the 2nd one s leaves are wider, like towards the floor. İf I have to separate them, what kind of soil should I use? Universal one is good enough? Thank you so much !
I think most snake plants will come with more than one plant in the pot and that is totally fine. You don't need to separate them unless you prefer the look of them separated. I wouldn't worry too much about overcrowding though, it should be fine as it is until roots start peaking out of the bottom of the container. If you do decide to repot, I would suggest a cactus mix, as it is well draining which these guys need! Best of luck!
That's my kind of plant! I have one and it's huge!
Just bought my largest snake..its about 3.5 ft :)
Tkeyah. Mine did that also I realized that needed a bit more water......it will do that when its too dry. I hope this info helps
Thank you ❤🪴🦋
“Keep it nice and pretty” 🙏🏼😂
Hey I like how u show us how grow your snake plant and other details about it 😂😉😁
Thanks!
Haha. The plane song is the best.
AWESOME...
I just got one for my valentines... I need to learn how to take care of it ❤️❤️🇳🇦
Love your hair cut.
I have two of these and I water every 4 weeks just a little bit. In winter every 6 weeks. These are like cactus. I use a combination of rocks soil sand and stones at the top
Emma I think your Snake Plant is one of the dwarf varieties, so it probably won't reach the height you were saying. i have managed to kill quite a few of these but I think it's because I don't have Central Heating and the Winter is too hard for them. They are usually pest free and you're right, so easy to keep. They like a fairly neutral soil too I think, and you should sing to them sometimes.... Oh that's just me. No wonder they die ! 🤣
Fab video, thank you! Found you because I’m thinking about propagating my money tree and Swiss cheese as I’ve just recently done my spider plant and string of hearts. I love plants with funky names, just like this one....MIL’s Tongue 😆
Let us know if you can think of any others with cool nicknames xxx
Thanks for watching! Yeah there are some pretty funky nicknames out there! There are lots of philodendrons with crazy names like white knight, pink princess, and silver sword. Very medieval!
I like you're style
Nice👍👍👍
i just wiped my sansevieria’s leaves (because it was getting dusty) but there were some green stuff on the leaves , is this normal ?
Mine was sticking straight up when I first got it. As the days go by its starting to get curly like yours. Am I doing something wrong?
hmm I don't think I have any issues with mine, so if it looks like that then you're probably good to go! Best of luck!
Mine plant is about 2 feet tall and straight lol. I think it just depends on the plant itself 🤷🏻♀️
I love the video! I just bought one of these yesterday from a nursery. I have been wanting one for years but kept dragging my feet.
It looks like I have another plant growing in it. It's also about to burst the nursery pot. (I have to repot it.) Any suggestions for choosing pots?
Oooh so exciting! They are honestly so chill and low maintenance. As long as the pot has drainage holes you should be in the clear! Enjoy your new plant baby!
Thanks for such an informative video - everything I needed to know :)
So glad I could help! Thank you so much for watching!
Hey! Great video! I just bought a small/medium-sized Snake plant and it’s in a
planter without drainage holes. Is it possible to maintain the health of the snake and not rot out the roots in a pot like that?
Hey! It depends on the material of the planter. If it's terra cotta, it might be alright as those wick water away from the plant a bit. But you'll still have to water sparingly. If it's a different material, it may be fine if you are very careful not to give it too much water at a time and pay close attention for signs of overwatering! If you're really worried though, you can always repot into a nursery pot and stick that back in the decorative pot to achieve the same look! Good luck!
so, to me the plant you are showing looks like 2 plants... when will you separate them if you chose to do so? I'm asking because mine came in a small pot with a baby "snake" that is growing... should I separate them?
should do a review on peace lily :)
Ooh I haven't got one of those! But when I get one I will for sure! Thanks for the suggestion!
1:49 That is a sansevieria fernwood! The sansevieria cylindrica is more tuberous and thick and does not bend as the fernwood does!
Hmmm interesting! That makes sense. Thanks for letting me know!
I have snake plant in my yard and I would like to know how to save them from winter. I've heard them taken out of the ground and kept in a paper bag and replanted in the spring. I would like to know if it is possible. Thank you
I don’t see why that wouldn’t work! You could also put it in a pot if you fancied something nicer for your house 😊 but make sure it has drainage!
I'm in the north in the US. We've had 8" of snow already 🤗
OMG that's so much!!!
Hi. Just bought 1 today and it’s planted in coconut husk. Do I need to transfer it in soil? What soil mixture? Tnx
I think that is fairly typical because it is quite well draining. I don't think you have to repot it, but if you do, go for a cactus mix or something else with lots of drainage! Best of luck
Should the decorative pots also have drainage holes? Thanks for the tips!
It's up to you. I like mine to not have drainage holes so the water doesn't spill out over my shelves and stuff. As long as the nursery pot has holes and you empty out any excess water after watering you should be good!
Hello Miss, this is your new subscriber here. Can you make a video on jade plants, please?!
Welcome wellcome! Thank you so much for watching and subscribing! I can certainly make a jade plant video! Thanks for the request
Can you recommend any places online to purchase plants? I’m pretty new at this and I would like to order from some where reputable.
Have a look at my plant haul videos to see the plants I've gotten from different shops around the UK. I would buy from any one of them again :)
