@@deltathirtyfour Maybe I haven't found it yet but have you considered comparing the PA Micro prisms with the ACOGs? Your thoroughness and presentation of the data is appreciated.
I discovered your channel from Hop Brass Facts and you deserve more views and subscribers. Outstanding information and your speaking is professional and easy to comprehend. Preface: Unfornately, I was an active duty Airwing Marine who got stuck at a reserve unit that never deployed and have no "real world experience" with an ACOG. I was issued an M14A4 in the Corps after I had already used the irons on the A2. I hated using the first gen issued ACOG because my qualification scores plummeted as the training we received was not to the same standard as the normally excellent rifle training the Marine Corps is known for. Since I was a kid I've always adjusted my sights for wind and have basically zero experience using Kentucky windage. So the lack of wind holds on the reticle or ability to mechanically adjust for wind was detrimental to my shooting when using the ACOG. Do you have any recommendations for ACOG reticle type or should I just get an heavy (👎) LPVO knowing my shooting techniques. Or should I just get an ACOG and learn Kentucky windage? Thanks for putting out great videos and I would greatly appreciate your advice.
Appreciate you watching ! An yeah those two rock. They’ve been super helpful to me . As far as reticles I do have a full video in the works. Until then the acss are basically the best route to go for Acog wind holds but they’re discontinued. People who live in open windy areas may require the wind hold versions. I live by rolling hills and some plains so wind hasn’t affected me as much so I can get away with the non wind hold models. The Acog starts to get a bit hard past 400y since it’s only 4x meaning steady position etc. if you using it out to 400 in moderate wind locations you’ll have to narrow down which reticle you like. I’ll cover my thoughts in an effort coming video to help people . I’ll try to hurry on that. Again, huge thanks for watching!
Thanks for making this video!! Great information and done in a way that other videos don’t present. I’m thinking of getting an ACOG and you answered a lot of my questions. Actually, you demonstrated the answers to a lot of my questions which is even better!!
Fantastic video! Unfortunately I watched it after purchasing my Trijicon ACOG. It was a pleasant surprise to find that the ACOG I purchased was indeed one of the three you covered in this video. Also I made a mistake when ordering mine and I received the battery operated LED version when I intended to get the ambient light model instead. I've since changed my mind about the battery operated model and decided to keep it, and that I like the control it affords me in choosing the level of illumination I prefer rather than having to accept the uncontrollable illumination of the ambient light model. I accidentally chose the 3.5x35 model figuring it was the middle of the road ACOG and not for the reasons you listed in this video. I instead derived the 3.5x35 to be superior based on my overall experience with hunting in the Northeast where I live from knowing the 3.5 magnification was an all around best choice for a combination of woodland and open fields hunting scenario of which my home area is known for. All in all I think my choice was spot on for my needs despite having seen this video after I had made my choice. Thanks for the hard work you put into this video. It set my mind at ease to know that the choice I made was indeed the best I could have made!
Good stuff! You must’ve compared them for a while because you did probably get the best all around model possible. I wish this video existed 16 years ago when I got my first Acog but after making this I realized why it’s such a pain in the “arse” to make haha. Thanks for watching and thanks for sharing your choice!
Another outstanding video! So much information, I'm literally taking notes. Speaking of buyers remorse, my first optic was a green eotech, and while its very crisp and easy to pick up, now that I'm in the market for a pvs 14, I'm really regretting that decision...
Well the green Eotech does get bright, but too bright isn’t good. I never got to test the green Eotech nv mode. I’d be curious to see if it gets a dim as the red.
Don't get me wrong its a great sight, giant window, zero parallax, 1 moa center dot, looks great combined w/ a magnifier, however arguably eotech's best feature, its NV settings, are not available in the green model(additionally I believe one of their other other red models also has no NV settings) Whyyyy??😫...
I chose the TA50 instead of the 33 as it's lighter with a better field of view at 3x. It also has a drop reticle for 7.62x39. I love the 1.5x ta44acss, but my favorite is definitely the TA31 acss or not. Love the acog videos. Maybe I'll try am Amber 2x next
So glad someone mentioned the helmet issue with the 4X, that has always been my number one issue for me regarding the acog. Without kit and/or helmet the TA31 is amazing, assuming you want to take the time to master one. But once you put a helmet one, which I have used an ECH. It bumps either the nvg shroud or the tip of the helmet, you can still shoot and operate with that issue but it is sure as hell annoying, as I did in the Marine Corps.
That problem, along with NV, was specifically why I hated the acog when I was in. At every chance I ran an EoTech. I avoided the 68 always as I’d rather use irons than that thing.
Love the content. I don't have nodds but want a Acog. I feel the battery is still the best option to get as it gives you options. I really love prisms so I have a 20 in build and need to find the right Ret etc.
Holy rusted metal batman this was an awesome comparison. You have some serious skills .. I'll always be a sucker for TA45 . I do not know why because I know it's not all that practical since PA G2 Micro Prism came out . I do wish I picked up TA31 Aurora or TA31 ACSS before they got discontinued. I would imagine ACOG in general are slowly going to start to be discontinued.
Thanks for watching and yeah, they have already discontinued some like the ta01b. If they’ve been improved or don’t sell I can see why. Thanks again for watching.
@@deltathirtyfour I still have TA01NSN I bought in Anniston Alabama in 2008ish time period . I believe TA01 was made in early 2000s. It definitely needs to have Tritium charged back up . I was also reading you can even change reticles when they do so . I don't know if they offer than or do that anymore . Either way I'll always have at least 1 ACOG in my collection.
People never realize how much space the ACOG's actually gives you to work with for eye relief and how it's actually used in real life and meant to be used. Even the TA31 still lets you see a decent amount and have a clear reticle even when you are pretty far away from it, which allows you to still be able to get quick and accurate shots at shorter distances, especially when using the Bindon Aiming Method, whether fully or only transitionally. But then it still allows you to really pull in tight and get really close and 'scope locked' when you need to take a really long, low-probability shot. It works perfectly for what it needs to do and that's why we keep using it.
Amazing video. Thanks for the info. Just got a Ta02 and learned something new about how I shouldn’t see the reticle type text. I was getting a bit to close with where I had it set.
Yeah I’ve never cracked myself until recently shooting at weird angles for videos. I like the ta02 but not sure if I can commit to it yet. I’ll pick one up and run it for a while.
I got it mostly because of the forward mounted red dot. Also you mentioned retitles. Do you know for the TA02 crosshair what it’s calibrated for. It’s stated M4A1 in the reticle but .223/5.56 on the website. Thanks!
I ended up buying a TA02 with an RMR. My logic for it was that i have to maintain batteries for my other kit, every other optic i have needs batteries already, and every other comparable setup is still generally heavier. So i might as well just continue with that headache while gaining the forward RMR, FOV, Durability, and awesome light transmission. I really wish they would redesign the fiber optic to allow the use of a forward RMR and i'd be all over the TA31. But just like Eotech, I imagine Trijicon is in no hurry to change anything since they basically only compete with themselves for their corner of the market.
Yeah I’ll try to convince them to update the forgings, but the ta02 will do you perfect. It still has an etched reticle even if the battery dies, which it last quote a while so I don’t think it will anytime soon.
I see the LED models as the "futureproof" ACOG that I always wanted. I was surprised to hear they are an export oriented line. I used the TA11 on the M249 and on the M27 and always found it superior, the forward RMR mount is just a bonus. TA110 is hot
Amazing content man! I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment. Sold TA44, TA11, TA33 and kept TA31F. USMC chose TA31F for a good reason. Excellent breakdown
Appreciate you watching. It was a fun, and long video to make. I still have two ta11 s that I like, but I’m team ta31. Hopefully this video may melt others that are torn between the models.
@@deltathirtyfour I think this is the best video out there comparing acogs. Well done sir. Looking forward more good contents, hoping on SPR or mk12 soon
TA31 makes Bindon aiming concept better imo because when you pull back further away from the TA31, you get your view occluded by the scope shadow, but you can still see the illuminated reticle, but now it's against a black background 👈
Thanks I finally understand Eye-Relief Better, I have bad muscle memory with my riffle so the only way I can have perfect body memory with my ACOG is placing the ACOG Scope on my Eye brow for consistency. This gave me bruises but I got great scores! Guess time to practice proper eye Relief, I wonder if there's a But-stock that makes it easier for your cheeks to retain same equal measurement to your cheekweld. Height and distance to the scope. Muscle Memory is hard for me. Having my Nose on the charging handle and the Scope to the Eyebrow was my only way of muscle memory at the time.
I'm very interested in the TA02 4x...I guess Lucas had the desired effect on me. Looking forward to your testing of it! Seems to be the best combo for me, but waiting for your take as well.
I have some decent thoughts on it so far (ta02) if you watched my top vs side video. There is however a few small things I wanna test with it before I finalize my thoughts.
@@deltathirtyfour I did see that video; very helpful. Probably coming down to the TA02 vs TA110 for me, since both allow a top/forward dot to be mounted...and obviously I've settled on an LED ACOG for this particular rifle.
Great video! I've found myself very acog curious as of late. This info was awesome to help me choose what model. Of all the videos I've watched it would seem that the concensus is that the fiber illumination is almost always in need of some coverage during daylight hours. As to your clip of talking to the trijicon rep, it would seem to me that a compromise would be to shorten the fiber optic rod on the front. This would make room for a front rmr mount. However I haven't tested this so maybe it would be too short and not be affective.
Yeah a shorter fiber to accommodate the forward rmr is lookin pretty awesome. Hope the videos helped. Acogs are one of those optics you can tell it’s a quality product , and it’ll last a few lifetimes
So the led ta02 is basically an led ta31, with a forward mount for the Rmr but comes with a slight weight penalty. It seems like a reasonable trade off
If you have a TA31 and want an add on LED illuminator just search for REM ACOG (Reticle Enhancement Module). It weighs 2.5 oz and illuminated the Reticle in low light conditions. It also is designed to help reduce the Reticle bloom in bright sunlight.
I enjoy all these informational videos. I do have one question. What is the rational for using an open emitter reflex instead of a closed emitter (when mounting on top of the optics or offset?)
This content is amazing. I know you mentioned that the TA31 can be passive aimed in very specific circumstances. Can the same be done with the TA11? Easier to do with the increased eye relief maybe?
Thanks for the excellent content!! Would like to see the TA47 compared to the TA11 and TA31. TA47 has a great exit pupil, eye relief, FOV, and is lightweight. It gives up some magnification, but perhaps for an SBR it would be enough?
You know, I think I'd be perfectly happy covering up some of the fiber optic with an RMR, especially since we usually tape it up some anyway. Who cares about covering it up, give us forward RMR
@@deltathirtyfour bro, spam bot. I'm amazed it's happening on a channel like yours also i had a shower thought: literally just make an extended hood over the front of the ACOG, like it already sorta does, and put the RMR on that. puts RMR even farther forward and there's almost nothing it could get in the way of

Comment for the algorithm. This content is too good to keep secret.
Wish I watched this a decade ago before I dropped the coin on an acog
Some of this I wish I had as well. Thanks!
@@deltathirtyfour Maybe I haven't found it yet but have you considered comparing the PA Micro prisms with the ACOGs? Your thoroughness and presentation of the data is appreciated.
@@Buck762 id definitely toy with them I just haven’t bought any to mess with. Looked through them a few times at some shows, that’s about it.
Amazing and instructive video, sir! Congrats!
Another great video as always!
Thanks a million!
@@deltathirtyfour thanks for the quick and detailed reply. I look forward to more of your videos.
Thanks for making this video!! Great information and done in a way that other videos don’t present. I’m thinking of getting an ACOG and you answered a lot of my questions. Actually, you demonstrated the answers to a lot of my questions which is even better!!
Glad you liked the video ! Thanks for watching !
Very detailed review. Great job👍
My pleasure! Thanks for watching .
Awesome video, thanks for making it. I own a Primary Arms 5x prism but I'm saving up for the TA31 which was the first optic I was ever issued/used.
I’m waiting on my 5x. No idea where it is.
@@deltathirtyfour Hopefully you get it soon. If not, then just send me an ACOG and I'll send you my 5x ... :)
Best video 🔥❤️🙏 on a very good subject ! Thx !
TY!
Great video!! Thanks for the info.
This is an excellent video. you answered all my questions and saved me ton of money
Early gwot passive wasn’t a big thing. Ir lasers were the standard. I didn’t wanna drain the battery faster with the green so I never got one.
Good stuff. !
Wow the best comparison video ever ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Can you do thermal for my dad
Ty ty !
Very annoying . The way ta11 helps which the usmc started running before the vcog was adopted. 4x gotta tip that pot back. Thanks for sharing !
That problem, along with NV, was specifically why I hated the acog when I was in. At every chance I ran an EoTech. I avoided the 68 always as I’d rather use irons than that thing.
@@BandAid350z yeah without rmr up top the Acog isn’t really passive friendly .
Great comparison. I went with the ta11. Jack of all trades, master of none? I don't know. I guess I'll find out.
It’s a pretty awesome optic !
I’ll take one of each, please.
Âmbar point was best...😂😂😂 Cheers from Brazil.
My first gf was an amber so it’s funny to me as well. Thanks and one day I gotta get down to Brazil! Appreciate you!
Just bought a TA02 and piggyback adjustable RMR from EuroOptic. I wanted the red crosshair but it was out of stock. I went with the red chevron.
The old chev will get the job done just fine
Love the content. I don't have nodds but want a Acog. I feel the battery is still the best option to get as it gives you options. I really love prisms so I have a 20 in build and need to find the right Ret etc.
Yeah the ta02 is better for nv, I did a recent video on it worth a watch!
Any insight on the TA01 WITH THE Custom jp800 Ret?
@@seanwhite304 that would be cool if they did change reticle during service. They’re usually pretty cool on the phone , worth asking.
I own the TA01M4A1 it came with a older Colt M4LE .. ACOG 4x32
Thanks!
@@bladeflyer6 if it’s the m4a1 it’s 62gr m855 out of a 14.5. Same as the TA01nsn model, just option to illuminate.
@@onseki1774 yeah let me know if you get the ta110 and how you like it. I only have the ta11 sdo 3.5x (fiber)
The acog you should buy is the one that matched your caliber and barrel length and you cab find the cheapest, they're all great
You can true in different barrel lengths . I did a truing video for yrds vs mtrs, and I have a barrel length one in progress.
@@RangeKimTactical I do have some “spr type” setups but I sold my mk12 mod1. Didn’t like lugging it around honestly.
@@deltathirtyfour there’s gotta be a fine balance between accuracy, mobility and aesthetics in SPR! Hoping to see yours on the channel soon
13:33 just asking, where is the video of you comparing acog reticles on your channel? i couldn't find it, so please link it if you can
It’s not uploaded yet, but preparing for the future wanted to mention it so that all videos can link to the others. Coming soon.
Tritium, fiber, plus AA battery, essentially triple powered, would be an awesome model.
Very dreamy !
the way you articulate and explain important details is awesome!
Appreciate that! More like this one in my library
TA31 makes Bindon aiming concept better imo because when you pull back further away from the TA31, you get your view occluded by the scope shadow, but you can still see the illuminated reticle, but now it's against a black background 👈
The on screen graphics and quality of video beat just about everything out there.
This was awesome!
Thanks! You’re all awesome for watching .
Dude, nice work!
Thanks! I appreciate you watching
Very well done video.
Correct answer is a milsurplus TA41-Nlaw Acog 2.5x with a discontinued impossible to find mount plus a reticle thats a BDC for a rocket.
I’d move the optic in place once your in your shooting position to get the eye relief you like, then tighten it down and re-zero.
Great video, awaiting the which reticle video!
It’s definitely hot some cool footage! I’ll try to hurry.
Not today Satan
So the led ta02 is basically an led ta31, with a forward mount for the Rmr but comes with a slight weight penalty. It seems like a reasonable trade off
You nailed it.
Great job brother, awesome presentation!
Thanks big guy!
Prism sight is also great for people with astigmatism. Or people who hate wearing glasses
Some days they do seem like magic. !
TA31 all the way.
A legendary optic.
This content is amazing. I know you mentioned that the TA31 can be passive aimed in very specific circumstances.
Can the same be done with the TA11? Easier to do with the increased eye relief maybe?
Thanks for the great video!
Thank you for watching !
100% or change the direction of the fiber tube.
@@deltathirtyfour bro, spam bot. I'm amazed it's happening on a channel like yours
also i had a shower thought: literally just make an extended hood over the front of the ACOG, like it already sorta does, and put the RMR on that. puts RMR even farther forward and there's almost nothing it could get in the way of
Excellent video
Excellent!
Thanks ! Hope it helps.
TA02 front mounted RMR helps the NVG bumping
Oh yes.
Good video man!
Thanks! Check out others in my library if you want!
