Disregarding cost, do you think 1-4x thermal scope of similar dimension and weight to an LPVO will be a viable/preferable option for the average infantry?
There's a lot of situations where thermals don't work well. When you're looking at a hot background things tend to bleed together You also can't see through glass with thermals and not being able to see color uniforms would be a huge disadvantage on the battlefield for target identification and friendly fire prevention. I used a thermal site on vehicle mounted weapons and I would often switch to the regular camera even at nighttime for target identification.
After going back and forth for a few days, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a TA02 with the horseshoe reticle. Looking forward to seeing how my RMR HD works with it.

I really love that video presents content like a video with actual illustration of what is being talked about instead of a dude standing behind a table for 20 minutes.
The TA02 is the best gun related accessory I have ever bought. It performs 100% of the time. I forward mounted an acro for weatherproof durability. It does everything so well. If I need one optic setup to take any situation, this is the one.
Of course that’s the goal. I have found like skateboarding, some people are regular foot, goofy foot, both right handed. Likewise two right handed people could have a right or left eye dominance , or be left handed with the same options so Bindon aiming doesn’t work so hot for everyone. I have. A few friends it works great for and some like myself not so much. The brightness I think will definitely help those with the optimal eye dominance that meshes well with the BAC
Good stuff as usual. Thanks for taking the time to provide it. We know you don't like them, but there is a market. We need a video or two, of the smaller ACOG family, to include the 1.5x, 2x, and the 3x (16, 20 and 24mm models). Come on my dude.
@@deltathirtyfour That would be great. There isn't all that much video info, or info in general about them. I have the 9mm 2x on my Saint Victor 9mm carbine, and it's pretty awesome. very quick to get on target, and surprisingly easy to get that slow 115gr pill out to distance with the built in graduations. Not to mention the eye relief is gargantuan. I'm leaning to putting the 2x .223 version onto my M4v7.
In answer to your inquiry regarding pulling off the illumination dial: I have never had a battey-powered ACOG, however, I have a VCOG with an illumination dial which, to my eye at least, appears to be the exact same design. The dial has never come clear off the rest of the scope, but after about two years of very light use the detents became increasingly indistinct, and the illumination would decide to turn on or off at random points in between but not corresponding to said, mushy detents. I sent the scope to Trijicon and they returned it to me with the illumination dial feeling better than new.
Very helpful comment, sounds like a contact gets worn out from friction or something. Good to know. Sincere thanks because I didn’t get my vcog to that point to know !
Absolutely awesome content man. Arguably one of the most informative fellas doing this kind of thing! I’ve always had an infatuation, if you will, with the acog, but haven’t yet jumped and bought one. I’ve recently purchased a PA 3x micro prism in an attempt to see if I like the “concept” of the acog before nutting up and buying one. I would actually be interested in hearing your thoughts on these two optics in comparison. I understand there will likely be shortcomings with the PA prism, but I’ve been wondering if they are similar conceptually or not. Same kinda feel I guess. Thanks for the videos man!
Trijicon, send this man EVERY single ACOG you make and let him make a video. I’d never pulled the trigger on an ACOG because there just isn’t that much available info. But now after seeing his reviews/info, I’m fairly dead set on a LED model and a horseshoe model. Ironically, I own a Primary Arms Prism. I thought I wanted a dual illuminated ACOG. Yet here I am. Wanting the Trijicon version of an optic I pretty much already have.
I wish Trijicon would update the TA02 to use the RMR's 2032 battery. Having the same battery would simplify keeping spares and incorporating the battery compartment with the rheostat brightness adjustment would probably shave around 2 oz. with no real disadvantage. JP Rifles used to make an upper that had a channel cut into the top pic rail that allowed an ACOG to be bolted directly on. This would reduce the height over bore of the top mount dot quite nicely as well as save a good bit of weight. Great video as always!
That’s a unique idea with the upper, and yeah even a cr123 could be cool so it’s the same as nod batteries. I’m guessing it had to do with common use batteries of the military at the time deciding the double a

Fantastic video! I wonder about that TAO1 and the dovetail ridge for the front sight post. If some company could come out with a clamp on red dot mount for that dovetail ridge it sounds like you would have your ideal setup. Really well done video man. Thank you for all your work.
@@deltathirtyfour I wonder if there's an RMR mounting plate that's thick enough a dovetail groove could be cut into it. Just use something off the shelf with RMR cuts already in it. Drill in a hole in the center for a set screw to keep pressure on that dove tail and you're off to the races.
@@benmarshall5984 bingo, we were just gonna machine the dovetail into a new piece but that would also work. It may sit a bit higher, but it would work. 20:56 Unless you are one of those weirdos who uses a Fiber RMR with their TA31. Unfortunately the fiber RMR tend to suck, but it could make an interesting "no batteries" build. I love my TA31, but the ability to run the dot forward AND use an enclosed red dot has me constantly price checking the TA02. Living in Alaska the open emitter gets fucked up by snow a lot and clearing said snow sometimes leads to melted snow that then freezes near the emitter.
Also forgot to mention the infantry does use thermal sites already to some extent. The US Army has one that they mount on 240B machine guns.
Thermal clip ons seem to be the way currently
After going back and forth for a few days, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a TA02 with the horseshoe reticle. Looking forward to seeing how my RMR HD works with it.
Solid choice for the apocalypse!
@@deltathirtyfour I wanted something for my go-to AR that I could absolutely rely on, and your videos really convinced me that the ACOG was the way to go. It’s sitting in a Larue LT681 mount, so eye relief is a non-issue. I gotta stop watching your videos because I bought a TA110 like a week ago 😂

Ahead of the curve
This video couldn’t have came at a better time for me since i am looking at a TA02 with a aimpoint acro piggyback for my block 1 build which will be my first ever acog.
You’ll have a does most setup
I ordered the TA02 yesterday. Also purchased the Scalarworks riser mount to bring it to 1.75 and will have a 12:00 micro optic.
I really love that video presents content like a video with actual illustration of what is being talked about instead of a dude standing behind a table for 20 minutes.
Same
You are by far my favorite UA-cam channel - gun related or otherwise. Love your work.
Thats super kind and I'm thankful. I got some cool Ideas coming, some outside of the box.
The TA02 is the best gun related accessory I have ever bought. It performs 100% of the time. I forward mounted an acro for weatherproof durability. It does everything so well. If I need one optic setup to take any situation, this is the one.
It’s definitely top tier
I’m digging the hell out of your vids. Well done sir
Thanks! They take a lot of work so that’s appreciated.
Thanks again! As always fantastic video. Between speed, simplicity of use and weight savings I came to a similar conclusion a while back.
Yeah I’m use it’s awesome, some optics are only good on paper .
The bright reticle is for using the BAC concept. Helps direct your brain to focus on the dot using both eyes open.
The brightness I think will definitely help those with the optimal eye dominance that meshes well with the BAC
one of the best optics channels.
Thank you for explaining what the fibre tube is. For years I’ve wondered what it was.
I’ve heard people interchange the two.
A++ video, love the reference to nods when using the led pack on the Ta31
Good stuff as usual. Thanks for taking the time to provide it.
We know you don't like them, but there is a market. We need a video or two, of the smaller ACOG family, to include the 1.5x, 2x, and the 3x (16, 20 and 24mm models). Come on my dude.
I may ,, I do like the 2x
@@deltathirtyfour That would be great. There isn't all that much video info, or info in general about them.
I have the 9mm 2x on my Saint Victor 9mm carbine, and it's pretty awesome. very quick to get on target, and surprisingly easy to get that slow 115gr pill out to distance with the built in graduations. Not to mention the eye relief is gargantuan. I'm leaning to putting the 2x .223 version onto my M4v7.
In answer to your inquiry regarding pulling off the illumination dial:
I have never had a battey-powered ACOG, however, I have a VCOG with an illumination dial which, to my eye at least, appears to be the exact same design.
I would have to say that the TA110 3.5x Is better all because of the insanely good eye relief for an acog. Please do a video for it.
I bought my first ACOG, a TA31F and I wish I’d have gotten the LED model
Very informative video. I appreciate you making these videos for the community. Thumbs up without a doubt.
My pleasure and it ain’t nothing without all you awesome mofos helping by watching so thank you.
Navyman recommended your channel, and just like him, surprised yall dont have a bigger following. Really enjoyed this video.
Oh snap! Can you link the vid so I can say thanks ?
I agree with your ultimate ACOG mentioned at the end of the video. TRIJICON YOU SHOULD BE LISTENING
They’d definitely eliminate some sku’s to worry about , save some tooling.
I've been waiting for this one! Best optic Videos on YT
Too kind
I just got my 5x pa, my first pa prism so well see how it stacks up for sure. I saw it at a show and liked what I saw so far.
Great info! Awesome to see the Friday night premier of the vid
I’ll try to stick to fridays if I can
Awesome video and great information. All you need to know in one place. Thank you
Xo
Trijicon, send this man EVERY single ACOG you make and let him make a video.
I’d never pulled the trigger on an ACOG because there just isn’t that much available info.
But now after seeing his reviews/info, I’m fairly dead set on a LED model and a horseshoe model.
Ironically, I own a Primary Arms Prism. I thought I wanted a dual illuminated ACOG. Yet here I am. Wanting the Trijicon version of an optic I pretty much already have.
Exactly my situation. They sold me on the TA 02 with cross hair reticle. Top notch video.
I’m guessing it had to do with common use batteries of the military at the time deciding the double a
Great now I’m unsure which one to go with the TA02 or TA110. Thanks lol. Another great video!
That’s a hard choice. Larger caliber, go ta110 for sure or if you run the stock full length. For me I like the lightweight compact 4x
@@deltathirtyfourappreciate the insight.
Did you end up deciding which one?
An excellent review of the ACOG models. I still use iron sights on my Colt LE 6920 M4 with a 16” barrel and looking to add an optic. You have me thinking of adding a Trijicon ACOG TA02 LED and RM06 Combo. I am a new subscriber and your channel is on my top 10 list.
I’m honored ! I’m hanks a million for checkin put the vids and you can always keep a flip up rear iron if your not ready to let go!
@@deltathirtyfour I received my ACOG TA02 and love it. Any recommendations on a backup sight? I have the M4 and will leave the front sight post on.
@@thedetective8150 backup irons vary from person to person. I like the knights micro rear because it’s slim, and has a built in dial for elevation so it’s light and small behind the Acog. Just know they’re not cheap. When I ran the ta02 I set it back and removed the iron which is rare for me and I enjoyed it. It was faster to jump between the two imo! Pumped for you . Get it trued in real nice and mark the mount.
subbed! This is HIGH QUALITY content
Glad to have yah !
I had the same thoughts and was going to get the ta02 but I found a new ta31 for 850 and I am loving it.
Can’t go wrong with the classic
Not sure how channels like this aren’t at the top . Next I want to see a Browe comparison
I’d defininitely check one out just for myself even but it’ll be a bit .
Imo the major disadvantage of the browe is that the piggybacked dots theyre compatible with arent RMR footprint
So you gotta jbweld an RMR MOS plate and then it works
Been waiting for this for a week!
Had some footage accidentally get deleted and had to rebuild it. Super sucked. Enjoy !
@@deltathirtyfourNo problem sir. Thanks for all the hard work you put it on these videos! Great content!

Thanks to these videos, I’m seriously considering an acog over an eotech to pair with my bcm

Most informative channel on UA-cam!!
❤️ TY!
Dude, I did not realize you had a youtube channel. Awesome video man! I'm thinking about getting a TA02 for one of my AR setups sometime.
Such an underrated model, and the TA110 version is beast
I’m definitely interested in getting a TA02/RMR or the new Primary Arms 5x prism with the red dot piggyback mount for my general purpose rifle. Nice review, I’ll subscribe to keep up on any future content. Much love from Texas!
Just picked up the 5x from pa to try. It’s my first pa prism. Appreciate you watching and sticking around! Love Texas , steers and cheers !
@@deltathirtyfour can’t wait to see what you think about it. I’m also considering their 3x microprism for my 300BLK.
That piggy back mount is flimsy af and not worth the money

Really interested to hear your thoughts on the PA 5x. Would rather support Trijicon and hopefully the competition gets them innovating.
All of their ACOGS should come with forward dot mounting capability for starters.
Thanks!
You’re a generous soul!!!! TY!
Your vids never disappoint, great as always

really like the production quality

Fantastic video! I wonder about that TAO1 and the dovetail ridge for the front sight post. If some company could come out with a clamp on red dot mount for that dovetail ridge it sounds like you would have your ideal setup. Really well done video man. Thank you for all your work.
The dovetail is genius, we almost made one but we’d have to add the rmr cuts on top. Maybe we’ll scour fusion.
Some rmr mounts have a hidden cut on the underside that allow them to sit a bit lower and that’s probably what I’d prefer. Maybe arisaka will do us a solid :)
So i saw a Facebook ad for some cheap scope with a red dot and a laser (some of yall have seen it) and some guy commented that he was a marine and thought it was light years ahead of the acog that was issued. I immediately thought of your acog destruction video. I think it would be funny to buy one and put it through the same test as you did the acog and see what happens!
Also, a short fiber acog with and top rmr mount would be a killer combo. I hope trijicon see this video and makes it
Beat of all worlds
Im at a crossroads trying to decide between ACOG and lpvo. I had no idea triji made a battery powered model and will definitely be considering it
Yeah it all depends if you want more magnification and longer eye relief over field of view. All trade offs and hard decisions :)
@@deltathirtyfour At the end of the day, the biggest trade off will come in the form of a smaller bank account lol
@@pelagicdesperado9875 haha too true
Bought the PA SLX 5x prism with the 12 o’clock piggyback mount. Really excited to slap it on and see how it does.
Been running it this whole last week. I don’t have the dot mount yet
@@deltathirtyfour put a Swamp fox Kraken on it. Comes in at 12.9 oz with batteries in both optics + base and 12 o’clock piggyback mount. Without any of the risers it’s about 1/4 in taller that my Unity FAST with Aimpoint T2.
I like that tactical rifleman patch, I took their CQB class. Great video, I’ve got a TA02 on backorder. Trijicon really should sponsor you!
So I actually met Karl at a show and he gave me that patch off his hat, thought that was a super solid gesture ! Figured I could rock it as a thank you! The ta02 is super versatile so get it zeroed and trued, including the top dot and put in some solid time with it. You’ll have a good to go shtf rifle. You really are the acog king lol. Love your videos man!
Thanks! More stuffz inbound! Thanks for watching !
Good stuff! Really looking forward to the Elcan comparison.
Oh it’s on.
I feel like a combo of both these products would be ideal. You get night time illumination from the led and could cover up the glowing fiber optic
Bingo!
I want to know why they haven't built an integral red dot on top. Fiber could be used to light both with the same LED.
FYI. The REM ACOG for the Quick Detach Mounts was also adjusted on the bottom so it WOULD fit the higher mounts like the LaRue Tactical QDs and Bobro QDs.
Yep, the quick detach one for sure was made for aftermarket mounts

Too kind , must be talking about someone else haha
You have a very nice style. Your very informative and easy to understand. I’m looking for a dual reticle 300blk. I know they make it but reticle style is limited.
I’d love to test the super/sun reticle for 300 but I don’t own one, nor see any plans. Let me know how it works if you get one all zeroed in .
@@deltathirtyfour my good friend has one and it shoots great. But, it only comes in cross hair reticle.
Thankfully the with the announcement of the RCR I can kind of solve one of those two problems. The main thing holding me back from getting a TA02 is simply that batteries and -40F do not mix well.
I’m not a fan of the fiber rmr, had one and sold it immediately. As far as the new rcr , it would be cool to run one up top.
@@deltathirtyfour Yah I have heard a lot of negative reviews on the fiber RMR that I don't even want to try it.
