I've had my Massey Ferguson GC1710 for 7 years, not problem with it. The dealer even called me a month before the warranty was up to see if I had any problems, none whatsoever. Hats off to Card Brothers in Chesaning, Mi.

I'm in SW Louisiana, my neighbor is a LS Dealer. I just bought my second LS tractor last week. I have 2 or 3 small issues with my 2015 tractor and repaired it myself. The newer dealers have had issues with repair bc of exactly what you are talking about inexperienced mechanics. My Dealer and neighbor is 100% committed to customer satisfaction. I just purchased a 68hp cab tractor. Im really sorry to hear you had this type experience, I truly believe these tractors are great products for the money.

I have two LS tractors. A xg3025 with backhoe and a 3010 thats 10 years old. the 3025 has needed a $1.00 spring on the backhoe and paid for itself with 200 hrs. The 3010 had emergency light switch go $30.00. Total of $31.00 for both tractors. They are great tractors.

I have a New Holland 1530 I purchased new in 1997. At the time of purchase I did not know it was made by Shibura. My local New Holland dealer still has the parts I’ve needed to keep this machine maintained and running. Point being stick with brand names. You may pay a little more up front but as the years progress it nice knowing someone has your back…
LS now makes compact tractors for New Holland. New Holland engineers the loaders and hoes and provides ongoing support for these machines. That support is priceless when you need it.

This is an LS DEALER issue, not a tractor issue in my opinion, I have an LS tractor from a great dealer in Texas, never had one service issue with them at all, my tractor has had the normal maintenance and wear and tear issues, but my dealer was on it every time with great service and pricing.

  • @chrismalchoff7552

I see all of these discussions but there are just a few critical decisions to make before you buy a compact tractor. Are you going to resell it? If you buy a used off brand, you will pay less. If you plan to keep it forever who cares about resale? If you have to have new and you want the option of selling later buy the green or orange ones. I like used pre emissions stuff with mostly metal. Keep the plastic hoods, fenders, shrouds. Most models will work for what they were designed. I would bet I could break any brand if I just wanted to abuse it. To me a critical concept is that most implements if sized for a machine should give before the core parts of that expensive tractor.

I went pricing out some tractors today with my parents after we came back from doing some errands. We have Kubota, Massey Ferguson, Kioti, John Deere, LS, New Holland and Mahindra in my area. The two brands I priced out today were a Massey Ferguson and John Deere. The dealer who sells Massey Ferguson also sells the Kioti tractors so while we were there pricing out a Massey we also mentioned the interest in Kioti but the smallest machine he had in stock was slightly too big for our property. He said we were better off with a Massey as far affordability and features went because even the Kioti went for a bit more.
We also priced out a similar sized John Deere with the same features we wanted on the Massey and it was going for almost $4,000.00 more. Plus the monthly payments on the Deere were also a lot more than the Massey. We have an LS dealer about 30 minutes from my house that I wanted to check out but we didn't have the time to go before they closed. So I'd like to check them out this coming weekend to see how they compare to the price of the Massey with the features I want.
There's also a New Holland dealer right here in town but those tend to be pricey so I'll probably just skip those altogether. My father has a small Kubota BX setup for snow removal and mowing grass as he has my grandfathers larger tractor with a loader already. He likes it a lot but like a lot of people he's not fond of their stupid rocker pedal so I'll be skipping Kubota because of that. Besides that the dealer that sells them is really good, they've been champs dealing with my grandfather and his dementia when he was having "problems" with his Cub Cadet lawn tractor.
Until I go to the LS dealer and get prices plus monthly payments it looks like my main choice is a Massey Ferguson. Everything else either seems to be out of my price range as far as payments go or there's a feature on it that would annoy me to no end (Kubota's stupid rocker pedal). I'd have no problems doing a higher monthly payment if I wasn't already paying a truck like I am now.
As far as your experience goes with your tractor. To me it sounds like even though things broke on it when they shouldn't have your whole problem is that your dealer is total shit. Because they did to you like our Yamaha dealer did to my friend when he was paying for a utv through them. They were happy selling you the machine but the moment something broke on you more than once even with light use they started blaming you for breaking it on purpose. What made it even worse is you also wasted your time to promote the guys dealership without asking for anything in return and he still blamed you for breaking your tractor.
A shit dealer always seems to be the one that instantly blames the customer when something on their machine breaks under warranty and the dealer has to fix it.

Honestly I wish it was just the dealers but it's the entire dealer network and the corporate Structure... Completely left me out high and dry on multiple occasions. The warranty is useless

    • @Slane583
      @Slane583 2 роки тому

@@TheRichardOlson Sadly you eventually end up running into stuff like that. But your dealer obviously wasn't of any help. Especially if they were there blaming you right off the bat for any failures you had. I'm mostly just going to see what the price is for reference and not much more.
The Massey Ferguson seems to be the closest thing to what I'm looking for with what I want for a reasonable price.
I've also heard a while back that Mahindra wasn't all that trust worthy either. Since the only "dealer" we have around here that has them is an equipment rental place they're pretty easy to avoid.
If it comes down to it I'll just have to do as my mother suggests and just get the snow blower later down the line so my payments are more reasonable. :)

When I bought my New Holland it was not that much more than a LS when I checked at the time they were pretty much the same price(purchased in 2018). I have had issues with the service department but it is basically one person that is an idiot there and I wont deal with him at all. One reason I went with NH over LS was the LS dealers seem to be other dealers first and not even in tractors most times. My NH dealer is also a Kubota dealer and a Bobcat dealer but they only deal in tractor/construction type equipment. They have been around for 40 plus years and have several locations, again allot of people say when you buy a tractor the dealer is as important as the tractor you pick and your video proves that.

So glad you did this video and with detail. I know the dealer and was there recently looking at tractors. Learning of your experience making a choice is easy. Orange is right down the road. When something breaks its often not at a good time so support is everything. These are relatively simple machines and not that hard to fix so there is no reason to do anything less than a perfect job. That pin he wired up. No excuses, there is a TS just a hop-skip down the road with a good assortment of pins he could have used. With that kind of service I wouldn't even buy a trailer there.

Soon as you mentioned the part about no torque wrenches in the shop, I thought: "But these are the guys who assemble and prep the tractor!". Should have mentioned that to Ed when he was trying to blame the loose bolts on YOU! Thanks for the vid- I've seen a few used LS's for sale lately, and had no opinion of them as I've never even seen one in person. I like the idea of a cheaper non-luxury tractor (Keep it simple!)...but this does not sound like a good company. I bought a 91 Case-IH 1140 a dozen years ago for five grand...I use it pretty hard on my 27 acres(Including 9 hours of bushhogging at a time with a 5' hog)...it has never let me down or needed any repairs! I feel like I won the lottery now! Buying new and having the issues you've had is unacceptable!

You have to realize that the dealers of LS Tractors actually assemble it. It comes in a crate! So just a heads up for anyone, If you see a disorganized shop and don't trust their service department then there is a good chance your tractor might fall apart. I bought my LS MT225S in Nov 2020 from a Fantastic Dealer and I`ve had zero problems!

I bought a LS XG3140H to help me with some property in AZ. I never needed the three-point lift for the first 3 years, just the backhoe. About 2 years ago I needed a box blade, so I removed the backhoe attachment. Once attached, the machine couldn't lift the blade! I spent months jiggling the controls, as suggested by my dealer, to no avail. They offered to repair it under warranty, but they're 1800 miles away! I found a closer dealer only 150 miles from here, but they won't work on it because LS will only reimburse the original selling dealer for warranty work! Talk about worthless customer service!

    • @davehoward2791

Couple of things Roger, when you disconnected the backhoe did you reconnect the two hydraulic lines on the tractor back together? Also, if the valve that controls the speed that the 3 point hitch goes down is opened all the way the hitch won’t lift. Both of these things got me, live & learn, lol.

Dude, it isn't just tractor dealers. I've had to go round and round with the local dealership over my new truck. You had a great experience compared to the treatment I got from my truck dealership. It was so bad, the manufacturer bought my truck back. Regarding tractors, I have two John Deere dealerships close by. The battery wasn't charging so instead of working on it myself, I decided to let the professionals handle it. I took it in and they said it was putting out 14.4 and said it was a bad battery and offered to replace the battery for $170.00. I had already checked the voltage and put a different battery in. Needless to say, I didn't buy the battery. I bought a service manual and researched the internet. It turned out to be a bad diode for $20. The kid that worked on it was just that, a kid.

Sorry for your experience but really a Auto dealer and a tractor dealer are not the same thing. Pretty much anyone I've ever had a conversation with about having their vehicle service have had multiple issues with dealer service. Whether that's the dealer trying to make more money than just what the vehicle was being serviced for by pointing out something else that looks like it might need to be replaced (which doesn't) or pointing out something with the brakes that looks dangerous (which really isn't). Auto dealers are ALWAYS trying to get more money out of you because they aren't really making any money off you unless they are servicing your vehicle. But tractor dealers a lot of times try to have a good relationship with you and give you good service so they don't leave a bad taste in your mouth so you come back and buy the implements, attachments, accessories ect from them. Auto dealers on some accounts don't care if you come back, tractor dealers do!

I have been researching compact and sub-compact tractors for over 2 years now looking for the best value for the money. I’ve carefully looked at all the major brands, comparing reliability, capability, initial price and cost to repair. I also looked at dealer support and parts price/availability. I’m not pressed for time or have and urgent need to buy a tractor (obviously if I’ve spent 2+ years looking), so I’ve been able to research and analyze a lot of data. As to dealer support, it is interesting to note that generally it falls into three categories, good, so-so and bad. And more interesting, to me anyway, a given dealer will fall into all three categories depending more on the perception of the customer and the circumstances which caused the failure. However, I’ve found that LS and RK have the worst overall reputation. Most LS tractors have failures due to poor quality issues. Rk failures are generally on average with most other manufacturers, but the majority of RK stores are not equipped to deal with anything more than minor repairs, thus a bad rep. Parts availability at RK is almost non-existent. Parts at many LS dealers are sketchy more often than not. Luckily compact LS tractors can use many New H parts as they are interchangeable. My research seems to indicate that Kioti and TYM, which are in the mid-price range seem to be the best buy for the $$. Kioti in particular, has a reasonable dealer network and it is growing quite quickly. Another contender is Mahindra, but their dealer network is somewhat weak. Although their tractors are beast, they have quality issues occurring more frequently in their tractor class. As a side note, Bobcat tractors are Kioti tractors painted white. You may have got a good price for your tractor but the old adage, “you get what you pay for” may be quite true when it comes to tractors.

I got about 20' on my new LS snowblower before it stopped working. I found a shaft bearing which is supposed to be sandwiched between 2 mounting plates was missing one of the plates. Bearing came out of the single plate which caused the chain to come off. Apparently it was assembled wrong at the factory. How does this compare price wise with Kioti or Bobcat tractors? For me Bobcat offers more tractor for buck of all out there but not sure how LS compares to these 2. Thanks!

I honestly don’t see how any of this situation really has anything to do with the tractor itself… you had a bad experience with a retailer, one specific person at one specific dealership, this is a personnel issue not an equipment issue… this video is very misleading, because at this point you just plain ol don’t like “Ed”, it’s a personal argument…

Sorry to hear to about this man, sounds like a bad dealer. I’m a mechanic at a small tractor dealer, LS and Deutz Fahr, and this would never happen where I work. I have personally removed parts from tractors we have in stock to get customers tractors going again many times. I can’t speak for other dealers, but I can say I’ve been pleased at LS’s support. They’re generous with warranty and the parts are a fraction of the price of other manufacturers. We work on mostly John Deere as that is what most of our customers have and you can repair that LS for half the cost of a similar 4000 series John Deere.

Sales just didn’t seem to care or know what he was talking about. Though to be fair; green, orange, white, other... only the actual agriculture dealers actually seemed to know how to be a good dealership. Which kind means that all the others felt like going to a hardware store for a $2,000 garden tractor.

I am researching TYM, Bobcat, New Holland, Rural King, Massey Ferguson, Kubota, Mahinda, John Deere, Kioti, and LS. I am sure I am missing something. LS appears to have a great value on their sub-compact tractors. BUT... And this is a huge BUT... If their service is trash then LS will lose a customer here. I was really thinking about pulling the trigger on a new MT125 until I saw this video. I don't have any hands-on experience with tractors and this is all new to me so service and support are extremely important. Thank you for sharing your experience with your local LS dealer.

I bought LS MT125 2 years ago. I had some small issues but my dealer was and has been excellent. They have taken care of everything no charge due to 6 yr warranty. Even bought my wife and I lunch one day because I have a 2hr drive to the dealer. Poor dealers are everywhere with every brand. I would not rate the tractor solely on the dealers actions. I have about 200hrs on my LS with loader and backhole. After some minor issues such as hydraulic leak due to loose fitting, loose lug nuts on left rear and broken joy stick the first 50 hrs I've had no further issues. Dealer Dealer Dealer is the key here. Sorry your dealer gave you such a bad experience. Again mine has been great. Wapakoneta OH has been awesome . They have stood behind what they sell.

Ok, you love your new tractor. You saved at least $6000 or more compared to other brands. Is the problem that the tractor is just not staying together for you at which point a guy shrugs his shoulders and thinks “Well, I got what I paid for”. I know in my life I’ve learned that the hard way.
Or, is this simply a case of poor factory and dealer support? I believe you about the dealer being a dirt bag, bad luck there. But what about lack of speedy parts shipping? Availability? Let’s try this: Your dealer is great, tries hard and gets on the job at hand quickly and has mechanics of your knowledge and quality. Would your world be right from a tractor perspective??

Completely a dealer issue. If you had to get "super-nasty" and threaten to sue them to get them to do base level servicing, it has nothing to do with the tractor. I purchased a slightly larger unit XR4040H back in 2016, and have well over 400 hours on it, and the ONLY issue that I have is the ignition switch is getting a little "soft". Before I would turn hard clockwise to fire it up, now I have to turn a little more softly and find the spot where it hits. I use it to posthole dig pasture fencing, power a WoodMaxx woodchipper, box scrape landscaping on the farm, and haul firewood, stone, and barn manure with the loader. Literally, 400+ hours, and I have had no issues other than the 'touchy' ignition switch.

The LS dealer here is the same as you have, main business is selling travel trailers with cheap tractors on the side. I have heard so many horror stories about that place and LS being so cheap, all that warranty sounds great til it comes time fix it. As your finding out, dealer support is everything. I have always paid out the money on JD (My tractors are 115hp and up) when I have an issue I need it addressed today not next month. Caterpillar is a great example, you pay big $$$ for the name, but you will never beat the dealer service and parts network.

So he gets a massive discount and buys it all, we got a Boomer 40 with loader bush hog for 25k. It has been a great piece of equipment that we have used well beyond its intended use. It has moved rock, boulders, not gravel, 200 yards to build a 4 foot tall 18 foot wide 150 foot long dam/road. It has done about 4 other similar projects. Clutch and a wheel bearing so far.

I don't have one so cannot be sure, but I assume this has a remote joystick for the loader valve. There will be a linkage or cable that connects it to the actual spool valve. My guess is that it is either adjusted incorrectly so that it never really pulls the valve open, or the clevis at the end is broken. I have a TYM and the clevis broke. They are both Korean tractors and probably both have Besko hydraulic parts. You might have the exact same issue I had. The casting for that clevis was defective. They didn't fill the mold properly and the casting was hollow. It looks fine from the outside but was literally like a soda can. Best of luck on the fix.
