The only part about Morgans story I liked was how badass general grevious was.
And Thrawn…and the Bo Katan cameo.
Another awesome thing is that the Tie fighter project from rebels was made by Morgan. I thought that was an awesome callback!

I won’t lie I’m a bit of a fan of hers I think she was done mad dirty, at the end been told she needs to say just after she basically got an upgrade as well lol and they killed her off…

Nah I dont know what youre all yapping about I think the story about Bariss was pretty bad and the only part I liked was seeing Marrok and The tales of the jedi inquisitor but I liked most stuff about the Morgan story especially thrawn besides the fact that her whole revenge thing doesnt make much sense now that I think about it
My biggest complaint is that Barris should have either been killed by Vader or she should have met Ashoka again. Those are the two ways I wanted to see an end to Barris’s arc. I feel like these were the equivalent of B- clone wars episodes.
i like what they did, barris was not evil , she deserved some redemption , actually liked her arc and lots of inquisitors have died so it cool seeing one or two join the light side again . its episode 2 and 3 i felt were not needed.

I really hate when the inquisitors show up because they are always so cartoonishly evil.
I didn't think I would like the Elsbeth episodes, but then after the first episode I thought it was really building to something. But no, actually it just confirms that she was only just a petty tyrant...
It was nice to see grievous again and in that design as well, but we needed more actual you know "empire" tales.

I actually want to see the empires perspective, not the unending petty villany. The only redeemable aspects of these shorts was the fall of Dathomir and Thrawn.

Literally every time we see a character at one point in the empire most of them turn to the rebellion or go against it, yeah we need some shows that actually portray the empire as competent and their own perspective

@@n_utd How is it woke or at least how is whatever you perceive as woke bad? I don't see the issue with having 2 female leads. Bad Batch has a 4:1 ratio with its male to female main cast. Is that bad because its anti woke or whatever? Having a female lead is not woke or at least if it is, then wokeness isn't a bad thing by that definition. As for men, we had Thrawn, the Grand Inquisitor, and Vader. Also I don't see the issue with pronouns. Everyone has them.

Seeing Barris Offee quickly become good again made no sense.
She literally killed an innocent and betrayed her own friend.
It's already been shown that she was willing to do bad things because of how she believed the Jedi were turned corrupt.
It would have made more sense and been badass to see Barris Offee go full villain and be an inquisitor fully and throughout.

You could have it make sense, but that requires nuance. Instead of being a some rando Jedi causing her to change back, it would have made more sense for her fellow inquisitor to snap her back.
I’m really tired of modern writers who are too privileged and immature to actually creative struggle or philosophical art. They just can’t…they don’t know how. It’s why everything comes off like an actual fairytale, but with bit of a dark edge sprinkled in. I think a lot of the writers also just self insert themselves too much, and that just weakens the story.

My take is she never learned that Grievous and Dooku were slain but they never clarified that she wanted Revenge on Grievous once
I think that her "revenge" is less about killing Grievous and more about reviving the Nightsisters - something Thrawn is the key to doing as seen in the Ahsoka series.
Honestly her revenge is misplaced. The separatists power dissolved into the empires. She be wanting revenge on the wrong side 😂

This whole miniseries was legit built to have a confrontation between Vader and Barriss. Yet they failed to include any sort of interaction between the 2 characters...
Bruh that's headcanon. You saw Vader appear once and you automatically thought that they would have a confrontation. She had better parallels with the Grand Inquisitor anyways

Him toying with her and training her in the dark side to confront her in the end and making her suffer would have been great.
Seeing her go full on dark, or feel guilty and turn to the light after realizing Vader was Anakin and she played a part in this would have been great..

First off this shouldn't have been named Tales of the Empire. It should have been named something else.
Morgan is not a member of the empire, she's a Magistrate who provided resources and designs to Thrawn, for power. However, I was honestly intrigued by this ark and will give it a 7/10.
Bariss joins the inquisitors only to turn good again. And becomes some kind of wise monk living in the mountains, she then stupidly gets stabbed in the stomach while talking to the fourth sister and presumably lives. (Don't even get me started on Disney's Lightsabers.)
This is the second time we've been marketed and sold a story told from the point of view of the dark side, just for the character to turn good again at a flip of a switch and I'm sick of it. She bombed the Jedi temple, killing Clones, Temple Workers, and Jedi. She then killed her accomplice and framed her best friend for all of it. She was a full-blown villain, and we don't see that in this. I suppose one could argue she had some character development in jail, but if so we should have seen that. Instead, she's back to being her regular compassionate self that we saw back in season 2 of TCW and not only that but presumably meets up and reconciles with Ahsoka off-screen. This ARK pissed me off, Imma give this story Ark a 4/10
I hope the Acolyte doesn't follow the same narrative and we actually get a story told from the dark side, but im really not optimistic about the chance of that.
This. I liked Morgans episodes much more than I thought I would, but was thoroughly underwhelmed by bariss. Barris didn't feel like Barris, she's not PURE evil but has done terrible things so her hesitation in this show just feels like they forgot how to write her character, the inquisitor initiation was so easy and shallow, like there was zero actual screening for who gets in?, Lyns 'redemption' was so out of nowhere and cheap, and why did Lyn look the EXACT SAME when Barris looked old af? Idk I feel like I wanted a bit of a darker inquisitor plot in a show about a dark era :/

I personally dont like how they handled Barris either. Just for other reasons. If you honestly think shes fully evil you didnt listen to her speech she gave during the trial.
Dave Filoni seems to be the type of director that either knocks it out of the park or takes a cool concept and just executes it in the most uninteresting blandest way.
They were better off just leaving it at the end of that 5th episode.

I agree it was mid. The Grievous part stole the show! Vader sitting like he was on the crapper was a huge disappointment.
Well After the first scandal he did, i feel like Vader knew better to allow his emotion towards the Inquisitors for personal reasons, I.E when he chaser those two down because he sensed they made an attachment

Of course it is mid, it is about Bariss and some nightsister when it SHOULD have been Tales of the Sith. The Training of Maul, the tragedy of Plagueis, The birth of the Rule of Two. Way mroe potential.
What I don’t get is the process that Barriss went through to become an inquisitor. All of the stories of the other inquisitors are either tortured into submission or have given their devotion to the emperor like the Grand inquisitor did. Barriss went through none and did none of these things. What doesn’t make sense to me either is she kills her rival in the arena BY CHOKING HIM, but then she is still justifying about this path she is on in the next episode? We’ve seen that any inquisitors that show mercy or any tip of compassion are sniffed out and dealt with by Vader or another inquisitor fairly quickly. You’re telling me Vader didn’t sense that immediately when he was in the room with her? That she was not fully committed yet.
I think that Barriss didn't need to be tortured because she had left the jedi order, the people who were tortured were still jedi. As for your second point I see it she was mostly committed, didn't see a way out like the Fourth sister until she realized the true colors of the Inquisitor then decided to fight against it
@@carsonr3909Sure I could see why they would only torture Jedi and it makes sense that they didn’t do it to Barriss because like you said she left the order. As for the second part to where she finally realized what was going on I just don’t really understand. Like I feel that Lyn should’ve been threatening Barriss that whole time when Barriss was clearly not doing the method or a forceful interrogation like she was. From my understanding I thought every inquisitor was supposed to be ruthless and then if they weren’t then they were called out for it. I guess it would make sense if that was Barriss’s first mission in which Vader didn’t have a chance to confront her after her first assignment I guess. Idk I just don’t like the idea of taking some anarchist person that bombs innocent civilians and then making her good again and her acting like it’s nothing.

What about taking a broken character (Anakin) who murdered thousands of innocents and making him have some sort of redemption
@@carsonr3909 Yeah that makes sense. I’ll watch the episodes again to just go over it because I’ve only watched them once. In the terms of Anakin though, I’ve always looked at him as being two separate characters between Anakin and Vader. I mean in Rebels Vader tells Ahsoka “Anakin Skywalker was weak, I destroyed him” solidifying that there are two separate distinctions. This is why I also didn’t understand the people that were saying “I just know Vader is going to kill Barriss because of what she did to Ahsoka” like what? That doesn’t make any sense. Vader is always trying to suppress anything and anyone that was connected to Anakin. Him trying to kill Barriss would be the opposite of that because it’s connecting him back ti Anakin when he is in fact trying to be Vader. So that’s why I think the redemption of Anakin works better is because it’s essentially two different people.

out of all of the awesome characters in the empire they choose bariss and morgan. we could’ve had episodes focused on vader in his new suit, tarkin, even thrawn climbing the ranks..
Tales of the jedi was way better. Tales of the empire would have been cool if we got an arc of vader hunting down jedi. Or if we got to see the creation of grevious. His start as a warlord to when he gets into the crash to when he gets turned into a weapon for the sith

To me this was not the tails of the “empire”. There was no focus members of the empire like an admiral, moff, or even stormtrooper. This was tales of characters associated with the empire. It was just ehh nothing special 🤷♂️

maybe they will produce even more. ... but at some point, it's sometimes "to much" for me. Dont like the way how disney creates tv show after tv show.

I was expecting at least a speech from vader or a Vader-Barris interaction. I am really underwhelmed.
Grievous was probably the best part of this show. He still doesn't utilize his extra arms and legs enough but at least he uses them.
He didn't use his extra arms because he didn't need them. He's actually a competent character again.

Morgan’s story was the biggest let down. We don’t learn anything knew about her personality and what is driving her. I know she wants revenge but on who? Grevious and Dooku are dead so who is see seeking revenge on? We don’t really see her fall in the last 2 episodes she just already is a bad person. The 3rd is the worst as it was just a prelude to the Mandalorian and showed nothing knew about her personality

This was incredibly rushed to the point I felt like I was watching an E3-esk footage of an upcoming show rather than a show itself.
The issue with Morgan's story is that after episode 1, they just skipped most of her life like instesd of showing How and why she joined the Empire they skipped it to show how she met Thrawn, then once again skipped it to show a prelude to the episode of Mando
I also didn't mind Bariss story but the conclusion ending was mid, like Filoni waited years to use her for that

Her joining the empire for Revenge ?!?!?! vs who? The CIS is gone ,Grievous is dead -there is noone to take revenge on.
It would of been more plasuble if they stated that she wanted to protect the people of Corvise from the same. It would of explained why she opressed them as that is all she knows.
Lets just skip the fact that suddenly she invented the TIE Defender... Then they skipped to the Mando series. It just doesnt make scense. The time jumps are covering the story they are trying to build for her.

Disney should follow up with "Tales of More Surviving Jedi" just to show how meaningless Luke Skwyalker in hiding actually is.
I think it makes sense that Jedi survived. Like 90% of them died after 66. But it makes way more sense that some survived. Either from getting away from the clones, getting out of the temple, or because they were on missions alone when 66 went out. The reason it was so important to hide luke and leia was because of what could happen if the Empire got ahold of them.

There are still barely any Jedi left. Most of the remaining Jedi went hiding, some fell in death. Hiding Luke is still significant because he is Anakin’s son. You don’t really think, do you?

Im happy with tales if the empire, I foreshadowed barriss being a healer but I’m highly upset with the ending.

The animation was great. The story was okay. I'm pretty sure the grand plan that Morgan had was reviving the Nightsister clan with the Great Mothers.

@@KudBelg that is true. Ashoka had the same underwhelming issue, other than the Anakin part I was disappointed in it too. The writing has just been very bad on some of these projects. I absolutely love Star Wars, but there’s no arguing there’s been a steep decline overall in writing. I loved tales of the Jedi though. I think they try and force these new characters and it’s a big gamble that doesn’t pay off most of the time. People don’t jive with them most of the time. Barris could have been great, but her ending was actually idiotic.
The last thing I want is Bariss in live action now, how did they not even show show us how Vader felt? They didn't even have a conversation between The Grand Inquisitor and Bariss talking about him turning against the Jedi order because of her...

The Barris episodes could have been so good! Disney botched a perfect opportunity again! Episodes 4 & 5 were on track but they let it with #6.
Gracious giggled too much. He was better in his very first appearance as a silent killer in the original Clone Wars cartoons. (and he looked better in gray & white than tan & black like in later appearances)
Coming off of the masterpiece that was the Bad Batch’s ending, this certainly left something to be desired.

The thing is Thrawn was the guy who developed the counter to the Defender, it was Admiral Zaarin who developed it
@@Kai-ow9gi Yes in StarWars Legends that is True. Grandadmiral Zaarin developed the TIE Avenger and the TIE Defender. When Zaarin turned on the Emperor it was Thrawn that defeated and catched him (Storyline of the TIE Fighter Game^^)...but i was talking about the Canon StarWars Timeline 😉

I knew this would be mid from the get go.
They could have told the story of Vader's hand picked criminal squadron of ace pilots, the time Imperial officers used Boba Fett to root out corruption within their ranks and start a war with a neighboring planetary power at the same time, when a rookie imperial officer rose through the ranks to earn his troops loyalty only for them to turn on him when he discovered he had force powers.....So many stories only seen in comics or novels, and instead we got Barriss who was interesting for one episode of Clone wars and a Night Sister whose appearance in Ahsoka diminished her threat level compared to when she appeared in Mando S2.
There's a reason why these shorts should be full-length episodes.
The Bariss's story was ok not great like Dooku's or Ahsokas but was passable. My issue is who tf chose Morgan as the second person taking the show slot, like she was a good character but there are so many better characters that they can use for that slot.
Morgan Elsebeth bits would've been good if the show was longer. But 50% of her and Barriss walking around?
I think it would have been really cool to just follow around Stormtroopers or something. Like what if they had one episode where we follow around the dude who blew up Alderon, firing the death star.
My question is why does barish look 50-60 years old at the end?????
With every Jedi survivor that shows up, Vader looks incompetent in his mission of completing the Jedi purge

@@simpleviewer1334 except that Vader was tasked with the purge of the Jedi and the clones did their job during Order 66. I mean, the clones dropped the numbers from 1000s down to about a 100, and those survivors would need to be dealt with by a force user.
I mean it kinda makes more sense than 10,000 individuals dying within 1 day lol.

@@betterlatethannever4529realistically it’s not possible to kill every single Jedi just like it wasn’t possible for the Jedi to be rid of all the Sith a Jedi can be created and raised and a Sith can be created and raised force sensitives are born everyday in Star Wars and are all around the universe alone your not gonna completely rid the Jedi because 9 times outta 10 they had a new apprentice they grew their numbers and had family’s etc i can keep going vaders job was to kill the Jedi enough to where they didn’t become a threat which he did until luke came along who was the biggest threat to the empire

Palpy wasn't the one who ordered the Nightsisters to die, at least first, until the Son of Dathomir arc when Talzin became a real threat. It was Dooku who got tired of Ventress and Mother Talzin trying to assassinate him, but he didn't realize that Ventress had decided to just forget her past the same day and join the Nightsisters fully.

It's *strange* that Filoni chose to write dialogue that has Barriss referring to Ahsoka as a "friend" when we haven't seen her attempt to make amends for betraying her.

REAL. Honestly the cameos in Morgan's arc (grievous, ruuk, thrawn) we're the most entertaining part of the show. I'm disappointed that Vader just.... Sat on a chair....in Barris arc, while the grand inquisitor was cool what even was that initiation process
what i got from Barris was that she ended her last years with how she believed the Jedi should of helped others, her view of how Jedi should of been.

I honestly really enjoyed Tales of the Empire. I just really want to see more of Barriss. I hope this is isn't the end of her.
I think the point of the Morgan Elsbeth episodes was her anger and hate against the universe and how her people and mother were ripped from her and burned down and that everyone else should deserve the same fate if they don't appreciate her protection.
However, it doesn't help it's Morgan Elsbeth and barely anyone cares about that character. She appeared in one episodes almost 4 years, then was killed off 7 months go and probably will never be heard from again aside from some comics that may appear, but her story is done.
Ventress however would've been a much better candidate, since the show wasn't strictly during the Empire era, where her backstory with Kai Narrec is shown and how she dueled Anakin and caused the scar on her eye.
I don't know why they are so hell bent on giving the spotlight to random characters. The Barriss arc was a perfect way to include Vader a lot, but they did not. And the Morgan Elsbeth arc was useless nobody cares. They should have done young Thrawn or something.

To be fair I enjoyed Morgan's character way more than in the whole Ahsoka series.
Barris story is mid, I enjoyed the first and second episode (this scene in village was brutal), but the end was kinda weird.

Search it up and your mind will likely be blown at how much control they possess if you choose to go down that rabbit hole. You’ll see how many companies are under their direct control (or indirect - they have many subsidiaries like Vanguard and there are other similar, albeit not the same, companies such as Black stone).

Bariss was a Jedi healer. I myself love the story. She rediscovered the light and became the beautiful, peaceful force user she is.
It would have been better if Barris got killed off by Darth Vader after she learned about his real identity.

YOU wanted to see more Vader off a trailer. That's YOUR fault. It's not a legit criticism. They didn't promise any more than they gave us. I'm tired of reviewers confusing critique with not getting what they want.
Nobody cared about Morgan. Nobody wanted to see her. Now Barris had an interesting story but we should've seen Vader as the one that hunted her down.
The episodes were short and needed more time to expand the story for both but eventually the endings were good. I liked that they told us what happened to barris and many of us didn’t know what happened to her and only speculated. Wish we could have gotten more but it’s good enough I’m grateful. Should have been tales of Barris tho 😅

The show was ok but not great. I enjoyed the bariss episodes, but Morgan’s were a mixed bag. I’d rather have had an episode or 2 of the grand inquisitors rise to power, getting disillusioned with the Jedi after Ashoka’s trial since he was one of her guards and falling to the dark side
In a show called tales of the Empire, the only thing we learned about the empire was how inquisitors are recruited. Nice.
I was so hyped to see Barriss again and left really disappointed... There were so many ways to tie her character back to the events that happened. Her inquisitor trial could've been to kill Luminara herself as we know they used her body to lure jedis. Barriss could have realized then just how far all this went and deciding to leave the inquisitors again and go on a path of redemption... Trying to find Ahsoka and seek her help and forgivness to try to make amends for everything she's done. It would have been the perfect circle and given closure to the Barriss/Luminara timeline as well as Barris/Ahsoka.
Instead we were left with a Barriss that seems just bland, doesn't acknowledge her past actions very much. Just blindly follows the inquisitors and act like she's too good for them when really she is a terrorist... It just didn't feel like the Barriss we were left with. All this to then have a big time jump again and miss all the actual interesting redemption part of her story. I'm usually an absolute fan of Dave Filoni's work but this is the first time I'm actually disappointed and think this storyline had major flaws...

It’s also become quite clear that this short story format is awful. They don’t even really tell stories, they just show vaguely connected events and action scenes. These episodes feel like they’re written by children. The storylines are so simplistic and unoriginal.
I'm theorizing that the friend that Bariss sent the child and its parents to is not Ahsoka but actually Asajj Ventress. Bariss while in hiding would seek not the person she previously betrayed but someone who shares her experience and even fought for the same side before; _another former apprentice of Dooku's who has turned from the Dark!_
Asajj and Quinlan Vos are probably working on the underground railroad for force sensitives and survivors, so it would make perfect sense for Bariss to be cooperating with them by sending the kid's family their way.

Expectations is lacking...tales of the empire should of flush in more of the current sith and Charaktere development from those who are in the post galactic republic era into the pre galactic empire. Tales of the jedi captivate well to the Audiences even most will disagree...
The Barris episodes felt like a lesson to me: No matter what horrible acts you’ve done in the past you can always chose to change and do better, Barris went from blowing up a temple killing many innocents to later on becoming someone who protects the innocent. If she can change than so can anyone else.
