Louis' girlfriend Ophelia was played by Jamie Lee Curtis who comes from Hollywood royality. Her father is actor Tony Curtis and her mother (Janet Leigh) starred in Alfred Hitchock's classic 'Psycho' (1960) where she was casted in the infamous shower scene. Far as Jaime Lee Curtis, she had made her film debut five years prior to 'Trading Places' . Since Halloween is coming up, you two should react to Jaime Lee Curtis' film debut in the horror classic 'Halloween' (1978) The Halloween franchise is still beloved til this day and Curtis had portrayed her role once again in 2022.

Weed saved the day. Think about it, if Valentine doesn't keep the joint, he doesn't go to the bathroom and thus, is not aware of the Duke's plan.

Here is what they made at the end: 122 cents/pound - 38 cents/pound) * 15000 pounds/contract (how much each contract is worth) * 20000 contracts (how many contracts they sold) = $252,000,000. That may not be exact, but relatively close. It's not really said in the movie, but with what they had from what they had from the suitcase they swiped from Beeks on the train, to the money the dukes gave the fake Beeks in the garage (Valentine), from Coleman and Ophelia's savings, and Withorpe and Valentine's investments, you figure it's a few hundred thousand they put in. So that few hundred thousand turned into around a quarter billion.

    1. The booking officer is Frank Oz. (various Muppets/Yoda)
    2. Beeks/Paul Gleason also played Richard Vernon in "The Breakfast Club" and the idiot police captain in "Die Hard". 😇
    3. Landis didn't want Jamie Lee Curtis because she had always been a "scream queen" and he didn't know if she had the chops for comedy.
    4. When everyone pauses in the restaurant it's a play on the old "EF Hutton" commercial. "When EF Hutton speaks everybody listens".
    5. One of the most VHS pauses in history. Jamie Lee Curtis.😍🥰😋
    6. GOOF: Where did Louis get the gun AND all those drugs for only $50?🤑Even in 1983.
    7. Don Ameche's strong religious convictions made him uncomfortable with swearing. This proved to be a problem for the scene at the end of the movie, where he had to shout out "Fuck him!" to a group of Wall Street executives. When he did act out the scene, it had to be done in one take, because Ameche refused to do a second one. He also had an issue with the N word.
    8. There's an Easter egg in "Coming to America" with the Duke brothers. Eddie Murphy at his best.

The "S-car go" which is driven by a snail is a pun on "escargot," the French word for "snail," which is pronounced the same way as S-car go.
The drunken baggage handlers on the train were played by comedy duo Al Franken and Tom Davis. Franken was a United States Senator for a time. He is still active in politics. Davis wrote sketches for Saturday Night Live among others. He passed away in 2012.

One of those movies starting with animal house, where ridiculous comedy meets symphony music! John Landis or Frank Oz, seemed to direct all of these types! Frank usually puts himself somewhere in the movie, but he's also an actor, so if he works with other directors, he usually gets a bit part. John Landis directed this, Frank Oz is the cop with glasses, just like in animal house, blues brothers and others! How this didn't get a sequel, we'll never know. The 2 brothers show back up at the end of Coming to America!😮The guy next to him in jail, from Breaking Bad! Dan did the First 5 years of SNL Saturday night Live, with John Belushi. Eddie did 1 year on SNL, then got the movies 48 hours, this, and Beverly hills cop, all in one year period of time!😮😮😮😮The guy in the ape suit, is Jim Belushi, John's brother. John and Dan did several movies together, first being blues brothers!!! Jim became a movie star but not like John! At one time, John had the number 1 movie TV show and concert tour, all at the same time 😮😮😮he died way too soon!😢😢😢. Type in here, John Belushi samurai, John Belushi Beethoven John Belushi no coke Pepsi John Belushi live with Joe cocker on SNL, help from my friends!!

Funfact: Back in the 80's what Valentine and Winthorpe did was not illegal, because this were public informations anyway. It also contained a little something called the “Eddie Murphy Rule.” In Section 746 of Dodd-Frank Act, under the Eddie Murphy Rule, it finally became illegal to use non-public information from agencies like the U.S. Treasury, Federal Reserve and Department of Agriculture to trade in the futures market.
And real brokers explained inflation-adjusted, Winthorpe and Valentine made about 26 mio $ in the end, if i remember it correctley.

Yes. These are the kinds of problems you _have_ on the stock floor. That's _day_ trading that takes place there, where, when you're _winning,_ you're _soaring,_ but when you're _losing,_ you're _devastated._ But no more than about 20% of the stocks that have ever been traded have been _day_ traded. _Most_ stock trading, thank god, takes a more _long term_ focus that involves stock traders hanging on to a given stock for _days, weeks, months..._ maybe _years_ before they decide to sell it.
