One thing I'd love to note, at the crafting bench, with a high enough science skill, you can convert one energy weapon ammo type into another at a specific ratio so you never truly need to worry about finding ammo for any of these. Especially if you also have Vigilant Recycler.
This just makes me wish there were more plasma based weapons.
Tbh energy weapons have always been lacking in fallout, plasma more so, really wish we had a plasma gun that works like the flamer
@@calebbarnhouse496Fallout 4 has a flamethrower mod for the Plasma rifle.
But all plasma weapons are based tho
Patrolling the Mojave really makes you wish for more plasma weapons.
@@larikoproduzimentos4501 yeah they hit way harder typically than most guns
Important thing to note about the RCM - Laser Commander adds a FLAT increase to crit chance. In other words, the RCM's low crit multiplier is completely ignored. The same goes for using VATS and the Light Touch perk, which also adds flat crit chance. This makes the RCM one of the few full-auto guns that are compatible with a Luck-based build.
You mean RCW
@@darkdog42 Why is yours set to Wambo?
@@darkdog42you get the idea
I just think in Fsllout 4 every laser and plasa came with these perk, while in FNV is meh
They are also arguably a moralist institution
When I cash out of dead money, you can purchase weapon repair kits with sierra madre chips you are given in the abandoned Bos safe house. I made 86 weapon repair kits which set me up for the game.
Really useful when stealing everything from the silver rush, can repair plasma caster and other gear before selling 🤑
I just did an engery weapon run where I sprinted right to Dead Money. Holorifle crit/ap build is ridiculously over powered. Holorifle goated
On my second playthrough I went through a valley cause I saw a bright follower dead with a cool plasma rifle, and I got totally fucked by a Deathclaw, I then learned it was Primm Pass
Worth it, because then you get Harper's Shack as a player home, and can short cut to Novac.
@@CliffSedge-nu5fv never had harpers shack as a player home
The last time I came this early, I was apologizing.
Lmao
Lol'd
Point of order, there is an unmarked quest for the Brotherhood that rewards you with a Tri-beam laser rifle. See "Pistol Packing" on the wiki, or speak with the Brotherhood armorer to start the quest
Repair ending Raul is helpful for those more fragile weapons.
Finally a compilation of the energy wifles! Also congratulations on new mic.
Ngl, I gave Boone a fully modded lazer rifle to notify me of legion hit squads. Was way more accurate then Garbo plasma
The only bad thing about energy weapons is that ammo can be very scarce at the beggining and sometimes n mid-game as well. You can argue that vigilant recycler can help with that problem but it doesn't
The Bright Followers and Repconn would have a word with you. Also, doing Brotherhood of Steel quests early gets you a steady supply.
Old World blues is basically the only time I use energy weapons, but it's super fitting there
Fission batteries and conversion at the workbench help a lot with this. The fission batteries pair with drained energy cells and gives you 25 fresh cells for 5 spent ones, which is nutty.
@@joolsmacgrools1288 Wow, didn't know that! I usually never pick fission batteries up beyond Goodsprings due to their massive weight, but now I know those are actually useful besides making (useless) moonshine and SM caps. You learn something every day, eh? Cheers bubbah!
@@kassisaba yeah I didn’t even know about til a few months ago. And likewise!
Something to bear in mind with energy weapons is if you are low on ammo with 1 type suddenly of your weapons are also low on that shared ammo type. So it's very very dangerous to run low on ammo for weapons that share the same ammunition. When I first did energy weapons I found I needed a melee weapon as a backup at all times just in case I ran out in a particularly tough fight or didn't want to waste the ammo on low health enemies. Even to the point where I took solid energy weapons sometimes just as a backup. And in some extreme cases just avoiding encounters with enemies I didn't want to deal with.
Another thing is for weapons with especially high Damage is if you end up mostly hurting an enemy with only a sliver of health it's inefficient to shoot them a second time. That extra damage is doing nothing for you. So there's a bit of efficiency lost in particularly high damage weapons on certain types of enemies. And vice versa for low damage weapons you'll struggle to scratch the tougher enemies in the game but they're great for finishing off low health enemies, but you'll also have a better ammunition economy for them due to less damage lost on those enemies.
Energy weapons are also fairly expensive to buy in fallout new vegas in general, not just for the ammunition required but the weapons themselves tend to be on the lower side of HP so you're going back and forth to weapon repair stuff more often, more maintenance and in general more faffing around doing irritating chores just to operate your weapons effectively.
And finally for weapons with that wide shot like plasma it's easy to accidentally friendly fire allies, which means some combats become a bit harder simply due to the terrible shot velocity of the weapon. This also goes for weapons with AoE effects mentioned + grenades.
AER14 Prototype my GOAT
That’s a really good choice
Its so fucking good
We all know Hyperbreeder Alpha is the best.
(And yes, I know it's not a rifle. That's just how good it is!)
29:40 Looks like someone had DRG on the mind. The Laser RCW does not fire Experimental Plasma Charger rounds, unfortunately.
I didn't even knew there was a unique variant of the gauss rifle, because I like taking Wild Wasteland. It's okay though, since I'm a holorifle enjoyer anyway.
Lol at you killing Malcolm holmes
nice collection! just a quick FYI/correction: the sink does not have the LAER in its stock, so unless you've soild it a LAER before it, won't have one to buy.
Fully modded laser rifle is awesome
I agree that one is so strong.
YCS with ED-E repair and micro fusion perks, running a crit build …OP stupid mode!
Energy rifles can be strong, mainly because they weigh nothing and can do a lot of damage. However u need lots of repair kits to run these weapons. Also ammo is never an issue with these because of the bright followers at repconn and the repconn HQ and the lockpickable doors with loads of energy ammo. Not to mention you can convert ammo to work on other weapons. Also explosive weapons beat these weapons because they basically auto hit in vats.
great video
gonna use some of these in a future game
thanks _!!_
Your content is awesome dude
I appreciate that!
@@ReapeeRon Yeah! You really got me back into FNV!
Dead blight? I thought they were bright followers
My favourite weapons in fallout !
It is Bright Follower not Blight Follower, as in Jason Bright. Your pronunciation of Bright is a blight on these videos.
It's so funny how creators can farm engagement and boost their video in the algorithm by mispronouncing something on purpose ti get goobers like you to comment correcting them
You think that's bad? He pronounces "gift shop" as "cafe."
Imma just gonna spawn in the ycs186 cuz its so unbelievably dumb that both the weapons the you can get based on the wild wastland are energy based. Like the only reason you would want the alien blaster is if you use an energy weapon build otherwise its a waste of a really strong weapon but this renders the best energy sniper unobtainable. I really wish they would have dont this with like a unique anti material rifle or something that way you could decide weather u want the trait or not a lot easier.
Cheers to fellow energy weapons enjoyers.
AER Prototype
Plasma Defender
Tri-Beam for bad enemies
Optimised ammo is sweet.
Energy Weapons slap in FNV
My AW Character in new Vegas uses a fully upgraded gunrunners arsenal laser pistol it not bad
Do you have a mod that adds more enemies? Seems like there's a ton more ghouls in your game
Possible not even a mod but console commands to spawn in enemies
He was running a mod that multiplied all enemy counts by 10.
You can find a plasma pdw early, the ammo is the problem obvi
Plasma what?
@@PBK1977I think (s)he means the Plasma Defender.
26:59 wrong you find one just outside good springs it’s in the shack in the locked locker sometimes at least not to often
Easy money 100 repair skill and 6 agility get the Jury Rig perk and just buy/lot amour and weapons and repair the ones with a lot of caps at max durability
I'm sorry, but you did same mistake as in your video about LAER. I want to correct you to prevent spreading of this misinformation.
Laser rifle's beam splitter is not intended to split the beam into 2 beams and increase the damage of the *second* beam by 30%! It was never the intention of the mod. The intention was to split beam into 2 beams (each doing 50% of the intitial damage) with *each* beam damage increased by 30%. I.e. the final damage of the shot is 130% (if both beams hit, not crit, target has 0 DT). So we could say each beam do 65% of the initial damage. And then crit and DT applies to each beam.
In vanilla, though, there is a bug that makes the beam to split into 3 (instead of 2) beams. This is how the mod works. It always applies +30% damage, but each weapon can configure the number of addional beams. Probably a person who set the value for Laser Rifle set it to 2 because he/she thought that this value defines the total number of beams. But nope, it defines the number of *additional* beams. So for vanilla Laser Rifle each beam's damage is 1/3 of the initial damage increased by 30%. I.e. 0.33*1.3=43.3% of the initial weapon damage.
But each beam crits individually and without any penalty to the crit chance like on many automatic weapons. That is why Laser Rifle is so strong in the vanilla game. With Laser Commander and other perks/items you can easily have 35%+ crit chance. When all 3 beams crit the target's DT doesn't matter that much anymore.
As always there is a patch that fixes the bug. With bug fixed Laser Rifle is still strong, but not that strong because of 2 beams instead of 3. The final damage of the patched Laser Rifle is exactly the same on a target with 0 DT and even higher on a target with high DT. But not for crits. Crits drastically change this.
Btw, I'm very curious to know why did you thought that Beam splitter for Laser Rifle / LAER works the way you desribed. Did you read it somewhere on forums? Maybe it is similar to the misinformation about Deathclaws that was very popular around the Internet several years ago. So much people thought that they ignore DT/DR, while in fact they don't and never did. They just hit really hard. :)
P.S. Don't take me wrong! I'm very glad you do these videos and I've learned many things that I didn't know. I just wanted to correct the part that I'm 100% sure is incorrect. :) So, please keep doing these videos! They are very enlightening.
Insane Aer 14 is the best energy weapon guys. Best dps and burst and damage
It exists in 76 and its pretty good. BoS not so sure.
❤
The beam splitter isnt always a 30% damage increase. Infact it can easily reduce your damage. Youre reducing the damage of each beam by 35%. But enemy DT stays the same. But now youre hitting with 2 projectiles so now youre effectivly doubling enemy DT.
Must be ten minutes video
Unbreakable...you mean broken 😂
The laser rifle is awful in 76 sadly
Man, energy weapon options are usually pretty lack luster and underwhelming. Mods for the win on this one imo. (I'm just saying there's not enough options, and the ones we have are sad)
Tri-beam got absolutely ROBBED!
GET HIM!!!
Aer 14 so much better dude but i dig the tri
@@jordansebert11 it really really isn't. Get 10 luck, max out Energy Weapons, get the GRA Tri-beam, spec all the relevant perks, attach all the mods and you have a little bitty sun on a stick that will melt enemies even faster than the LAERs.
It's really good.
And the host repeatedly called it a "shotgun" he said the word "shotgun" like 15 times. It is a rifle it's called a rifle and it has zero spread so all three beams land right next to each other even at long range for a potential 180 damage zapper with 360 dps which is absolutely absurd.
@@ibelieveingaming3562Okay, so you were referring to the modded version as getting robbed... literally how? It’s S tier. He called it one of the best weapons.
What do you want him to do, invent a wholeass new tier for the tri-beam?
@SehrDummerAccountNam Msybe a new tiering system since 90% of the weapons ended up on S tier.
The tri-beam was so much better in Fallout 3.
