My personal tip : i use the dumpster next to chets store for everything storage. Since theres a workbench there, its handy for junk. But also handy in general since its right at the fast travel point, and nothing ever dissappears from what you put in there.
If you have Survival at 50 and the Honest Hearts expansion you can combine Jet (plus 15 action points for 4 minutes but 20% chance of addiction) and Purified Water at a campfire to make Rushing Water (plus 50% attack speed for 30 seconds plus 2 health per second for five seconds with zero chance of addiction). Combine that with a fast weapon like a combat knife or War Club and, outside of VATS, you can attack as fast as you can click the mouse.
@@MilkyLobster Just the Superslam perk is enough. You attack so often that, if the deathclaw doesn't kill you with it's first hit, it's going down and not getting back up again.
You can get everything you need to fix ED-E in goodsprings behind old petes house to the left is the blue truck and the trailer attached to it inside the bed of the truck is 2 sensor modules 2 scrap electronics, 1 scrap metal in chets (steal it) 2 in victors house. Boom instant weight reducer and helps a load with spotting all the early insects for easy xp.
And you quickly dip into the divide, you can find the first upgrade for ED-E very early on which gives you free daily weapon repairing through a dialogue option with ED-E. So definitely worth, also for all the good loot you can find in the first bunker.
Another tip: Wander the wasteland and discover all essential locations before you decide to piss off the NCR or especially the Legion. Since the hit squads ambush you on the roads between locations, you can use fast travel to completely avoid them (exception: Legion hit squads can spawn at the El Dorado gas station between Novac and Boulder City, but you never need to travel there for any quest). If you do need to travel in areas where the Legion might jump you, fast travel to Fields' Shack with ED-E as your companion, equip your best ranged weapon (this definitely works with the Gauss rifle, but the anti-materiel rifle will probably also work), turn so that the road to Nellis is on your left and Vegas is on your right, and slowly follow the road that runs parallel to the mountains until red blips show up on your compass. Crouch and look through your scope until the Legion assassins appear. If you have Rapid Reload, you should be able to take out all four before they get close enough to engage you in combat. You're now safe for the rest of the day and can go wherever you need to. In my experience, this is the place where you have the most advantage over them because they spawn far away and have very little cover.
Correction: Legion hit squads can also spawn at the rest stop on the highway between Repconn Headquarters and Vegas (I think it's the Grub and Gulp) and will probably kill at least one of the vendors. This isn't a place you're ever required to travel to; all of the main quest locations are safe from hit squads in my experience.
One more tip: The ravens aren't targetable in VATS, but they are killable, even if they are only worth 1 XP. They can't fight back, so it's not very sporting, but they do count toward the Lord Death challenge perk, which gives you a damage buff against absolutely everything, and all damage is good damage.
Once I have the gauss rifle or YCS/186, I begin fast-traveling to spots where they attack ON PURPOSE, for the "free" loot and XP. They aren't that difficult when you know they're coming, and I don't even use chems. for this.. My go-to for gaining (combined) loot and xp!
Get a mixed reputation for Goodsprings and Chet will offer a huge discount when buying items and will buy your items for full price Get an accepted reputation by saving the settler while doing the Sunny Smiles quests to clean out the geckos. Get caught stealing two items from Chet's store which will turn him hostile. Once he's hostile run to either Easy Pete's house or that trailer near Barton Thorn. Sleep for between 3 to 7 days. The next time you visit Chet he gives you the discount.
@@ReapeeRon the best part is that most of the time Chet won't leave his store so you can easily outrun him and he won't follow you into a house. This is really helpful if you run low on caps and decide to use the Legion Assasins to get rich. Yeah they hit hard but they carry 12.7 mm pistols assault carbines and so many doses of Antivenom that the Cazadores become a non-issue pre OWB. As you gain levels Chet's bank gets bigger and bigger. By the time I was level 30 Chet had even more caps than The Gunrunners.
Getting the Endurance implant does not change how many implants you can get. It checks your permanent unmodded Endurance before the Endurance implant. Intense Training does count towards getting more implants though. You need 9 permanent Endurance to get every implant, and 7 for only the SPECIAL implants. I typically go for 8, to get every implant minus the Charisma one (something something dump stat), but you could totally go for 7 and skip Charisma and health regen Also if you have low Intelligence and go for the low Int dialog option, Dr. Usanagi gives you a discount on the Intelligence implant out of pity lmao. I love this game
Best tip I can offer that I never see anyone else recommend: Read the how-to-play Help file. It's on the same screen as Save/ Load. It explains how to play Caravan in detail. It explains how to hotkey items, all controller/ keyboard commands, etc. It is so embarrassing to watch people try to play New Vegas not knowing how to do anything and then complain about how bad the game is. Just read the damned instructions!
Caravan is a great way to score like 4 mil in caps if you wanna use luck as a dump stat. Caravan is almost a guarenteed win if you stack your deck with 10's, 9's, & 7's & then a bunch of dump cards

I only play hardcore and never use chems - not even stimpaks. They are all currency for me. I also like to choose one or two weapon types to never use, so those ammo types become more money.
@@redhill3248 Food is plentiful, and since stims heal over time same as food, food is superior once survival skill is higher. The only chems I'll use are rad x and rad away in emergencies. It's easy enough to pay a doctor to clear rads. I still carry stims to use on my companions, of course.
Also to take note, if you manage your selling to the vending machines in the lonesome road and get the machines caps down below 50 or 100 (I forget which) exit out of it and go back into it and its caps will be reset to the max, allowing you to keep selling and selling. Easy way to get lots of caps.
Great video. I would also recommend visiting Diane at Red Rock Canyon and starting her quest. Once you complete the first part (rescuing Anders at Cottonwood Cove), you can choose the recipe for Turbo as your reward, which will pretty much break the game (be sure to start hoarding broc flowers, cazador venom glands, Jet, and turpentine as early as possible). Turpentine is the main bottleneck in production as there's no dependable source once you've looted all the non-respawning cans and vendors only occasionally restock it, whereas Jet restocks very reliably with Contreras and pretty reliably with the Gomorrah bartender, and the cazadores and broc flowers respawn every 3 days (and there are 9 broc flower plants at Crimson Caravans alone).
Janitor closets and supply rooms in fnv often have turps. Near a lot of repair benches have turps too but other than that it’s random yes. I opt for GRX I don’t normally use turbo tbh
@@stormv0707 True, but only If you have the DLC installed. At the time I had a toaster, and running my copy the Ultimate Edition I'd bought off of GOG would result in constant savegame corruption once I got to around level 20 or so, so I bought the base game off of Steam and was running that. Having the DLC definitely helps, but it also opens up the possibility of Implant GRX, which renders Turbo less important.
One huge tipp even for veteran new vegas players i recommend hard save before you start missions and not rely on auto saves some missions like beyond the beef and monorail mission are extremely buggy and put an dent on your certain playthroughs.
And keep multiple hard saves - I recommend 3 hard saves. Don't save over files. Make new file and delete old ones. A crash that corrupts a save file can lose you a lot.
Beyond the beef is hilariously buggy, no amount of mods will probably ever be able to fix that mess. I reverse pickpocketed dynamite into the pockets of Heck Gunderson because Walter Phebus wanted him dead (Pheeble Will) and while Heck Gunderson did blow up, even without any of his limbs, he was still considered alive by the game. Fun thing to try.
Another tip my buddy Seth taught me (RIP dude) - right before you hit the max winnings at any casino on blackjack, stop, and go play slots until you hit a jackpot. That way you can get significantly more caps than from just maxing out at the table
A good tip I came up with is (if you're not in hardcore mode) pick up every piece of ammy you find even if you don't intend on using it because it doesn't take up any weight and you can turn around and sell it later. I always make a ton of extra caps just doing this. Disclaimer: I'm sure lots of other people have come up with this too, I'm just saying I didn't hear about it before I started doing it.
Another tip, get the confirmed bachelor’s perk and use it on Major Knight at the Mojave outpost. This will give you free repairs on EVERYTHING including armor.
I might have a good tip, harpers shack can be used as a good early game player home because it has multiple containers for you to organize all your stuff and has a ammo bench and science bench with a fire pit outside the shack along with the added bonus of fast traveling to right in front of the shack
23:47 I found this out on my first play through of DM. I got almost 10,000 chips exchanged for 10,000 pre war money (which weighs nothing) and then each pre war money sold for 8 caps each so I basically had 80,000 caps just in pre war money alone. Then you can walk out of the DLC with that 400,000 caps worth of gold. At that point, anything you want in the game is free since you practically have infinite money. Even if you do somehow spend all of it, you can just clear out the 4 casinos. On a new game, I’d suggest making a B line for Vegas, kill an NCR troop to take the monorail, clear the casinos, get all the implants from the base game, then head to the DLC, get the money, hit up the gun runners to get all your gear, go to Old world Blues, get those implants, then destroy everything in the game. Also: I doubt anyone seeing this video is new and it’s something every fallout person knows, but drain charisma and just have it at 1. There’s no skill in charisma that you’re ever going to miss, your companions are already strong enough, and the skills they affect can pretty much be bought back with the good natured and skilled traits. Take all charisma and give it to luck,(for casinos) intelligence, (for more XP and skill points) and endurance (for more implants)
I just want to add that the game does keep track if your skills go over 100, in a way. Take this scenario: you have 100 in Guns and the Early Bird trait. From 6pm to 6am, your Guns skill will drop to 97 due to the Early Bird penalty to your agility and luck. You use a Guns skill book at night to boost your skill back to 100 from 97. When you get the Early Bird bonus again, your Guns skill doesn't go over 100, but the game remembers that you have those extra skill points, and from then on, you will always maintain 100 in Guns, even with -1 to agility and luck. This probably works with other things too, like if you have 10 Endurance plus the Endurance implant, your "virtual" 11 endurance will drop to 10 with minor radiation poisoning and you won't see any actual penalty for minor radiation poisoning, which would be nice to have with Rad Child or Atomic.
The First of Rawr tip is amazing, it makes combat way, way easier in Dead Money. I was frequently hitting things once and having limbs pop off. I do want to add, use the "Cross" special move in VATS (75 unarmed) to deal 2.5x limb damage!
One small optimization for high luck gambling: Once you've gotten all the comp prizes in a casino, but before you get banned, I find it's better to switch from Blackjack to Slots. Since you get banned whether you're 1 Cap over the limit or 1000 over, it makes more sense to play Slots since the payout is higher, meaning that you'll likely exceed the limit by a higher amount. Roulette is technically even better, but that requires you to play Roulette, which I do not recommend 😄
I do the roulette just because I'm doing some longer runs and like the idea of all that extra cash. Having said that, I wouldn't recommend it unless you're willing to get trolled by the game for over an hour, watching the ball land right next to or directly across the wheel from whatever number you're betting on. You'll learn very quickly that your luck stat does not affect roulette- sometimes, it feels like it has a negative effect. Also, save-scumming the gambling is for chumps: if you have 9-10 luck, you can easily step away from the roulette table, go over to the blackjack table, get all your chips back, and get right back to the roulette table.
@TehAdrenalinePickle Fair enough. I think for Slots, the break point where Luck favors you is 7. I usually don't gamble until my Luck is 9 or 10, and minus the occasional dry spell, it doesn't take long to turn a profit, although Blackjack is still faster. The idea though is to get banned because you hit 3x Oranges or Grapes or something, which is a better payout than you can win in a Blackjack hand. It's been a while, but I think 3x Oranges on Slots is like 7500 Caps?
I just find it funny that house will pay you 2 thousand for each snow globe. But only one thousand for the all Important platinum chip he has been searching for 200 years!
@@ReapeeRon If by "survival" you mean Hardcore Mode, no, the Well Rested perk activates for any amount of sleep. The effect lasts for 8 hours, though. Speaking of survival, 100 in survival skill grants _well rested_ from sleeping in any outdoor bed - which are all over. Very useful on hardcore, as healing is more difficult.
I can't speak for hardcore/survival, but if you initiate sleep in say, the bed inside the King's HQ, and then immediately cancel it in any other difficulty, even though you slept 0 hours, the effect is still applied.
steal the spiked knuckles in bison steve casino, repair them with the perfect brass knuckles in the nevada highway patrol station, now you have a cc weapon until you choose to upgrade. also if you have 25 unarmed it can deal with the sentrys in the beginning of the lonesome road dlc
Coming back to Fallout NV to mod it again and make some series around it, found yoru channel and it's super awesome. So many things I had no idea existed even after thousands of hours into the mojave.
Awesome video! I played Fallout 3 in 2014 (as a 14 year old) and I fell in love with the world, I remember getting an Xbox One for Christmas right as Fallout 4 was coming out and being so excited. I never had New Vegas though, and recently I’ve gone back for nostalgia into 3 and 4, and decided I need to dig into everyone’s favorite. I’ve only played a few hours so far but these tips are very helpful for a completely new player! Especially tips about broken perks that I never would have known otherwise
Another something to note about Logan's Loophole, if you hit level 50, then respect into Logan's loophole, you can have both the extended chem time, and still be at level 50. Really solid for a chem heavy late game build.
I've lightly modded the game using the Viva New Vegas guide, and one of the mods I've installed, probably the unofficial patch, makes it so you can't respect into Logan's Loophole if you're above level 30. So anyone modding should keep that in mind
I start out with 10 charisma and tag barter. Then I pick Skilled and Goodnatured. I loot everything I can in Good springs and sell it all to Chet. Then when I leave Goodsprings I respec my character to the actual build I want.
New glitch for fallout new vegas, try to have the pip boy on the screen while walking out of goodsprings when the rebuild menu comes up, select rebuild character, select skilled and ay other trait you wish, put any special skills somewhere random, when you accept the pip boy will lower slightly but the rebuild menu will come up again. Keep doing skilled over and over until you hit 100 in all skills then make your permenant selections and hit travel onward, enjoy a maxed out character.
Another tip, when you steal stuff like that gun or the ranger sequoia, just drop it and pick them back up and it will remove the stolen mark on it (it doesn't work on everything tho)
For some reason, the 3/0 buck in Chet's inventory resets everyday during one of my playthroughs. I installed the M37 mod and it takes 20 gauge so I was pretty much set until I got to The Strip 😂
If you are including glitches / bug exploits, I didn't hear mention of the multiple-companion glitch (have all 6 humanoids + 1 of the pets all at the same time) or the Raul free repairs exploit. Those two are my favorite cheats, so on many playthroughs, the first thing I do when leaving Goodsprings is go rescue Raul from Black Mountain and then run straight to the 188 to receuit Veronica.
On tip 51 when the game first came out the powder charges were the rock it launcher schematics from fo3. The dart gun schematics was in one of the hangers near pearls office. You couldn’t build them,then after a bit they updated and they were gone. Guess because a different team made fo3 they didn’t want them to use their weapons.
This might have been said already, but one small correction: The implant you get that increases endurance does NOT count towards the endurance check for implants, no matter what order you get them in. The implant endurance check will only count your starting endurance or increases from Intense Training.
The easy way into the Boomers at Nellis is to go through the tunnel after you sneak past a few death claws close to the entrance. Then follow the track to the fence. One stealth boy should work . And Raws claw is great to have in the Sierra Madre . I just had too remember not make it right after getting it. Plus at the start of the game you can go into the Divide at level 1 to pick up loot with out having to get into Combat ✓
1.) Break down regular rockets and make incendiary rockets, huge profits (with good barter), can buy all the components (50 bmg / primers, regular rockets / missiles) except Flamer fuel at the Khans' armory and Hoover Dam quartermaster, in bulk. 2.) When you run out of Flamer fuel to make incendiary rockets, try explosive rockets, because you'll accidentally be stockpiling the other component needed already (cherry bombs, do not sell them, save them for making rockets). 3.) The weapon repair kit vendor codes for dead money + 1000 chips (Sierra Madre gambling reward) / week = crazy money. 4.) If you have Caesar's Favor quest and the Transportalponder, go do the quest and stand by the trees near the boxes, use the portal twice, check the boxes again. Free loot, repeat as often as you want. 5.) Healing Poultice is probably the best healing item in the game, also heals limbs, you need cave fungus from honest hearts, so stock up when you go through. 6.) Once you have OWB you can clone all the other components needed for healing poultice. 7.) Doing the BoS questline and joining not only gets you access to power armor early, but you can go to the BoS safehouse and get 2 free sets of power armor and a bunch of valuable weapons. Pointing this out because I played through the game at least 10 times before I realized that you could join them. 8.) You can do lonesome road before the NCR/Legion karma reset and they will ignore the nuking once you do the karma reset. Good way to get the Scorched Sierra armor on an NCR playthrough (if you don't mind breaking character for a moment). 9.) All human/ghoul companions can wear power armor. 10.) Depending on your playstyle Heavyweight is probably not worth it vs Strong Back / Pack Rat 11.) Space Suit + Ulysses Mask = maxed radiation resistance 12.) If you use the Mojave Drive in as your base, you can take everything you store there to OWB with you enter, there is no weight check on the way in (Downside: no crafting benches) if you have the Long Haul perk you can base anywhere and bring it with you when you go to OWB.
Actually, the Dead Money perks aren’t the only perks you can hold onto when you rebuild your character. You can hold onto most perks when doing this. If you power level to 50, you can keep almost all of those perks then take Here and Now at lv 10 to start the game at lvl 11 with 25+ perks. I’ve tried to find a list of what perks will stick around and what ones won’t, but couldn’t. For example, I did it and got Fast Learner 3 times and Lessons Learned to shorten the grind. When I rebuilt, I only still had Lessons Learned
IIn the Dead Money DLC, somewhere in the Sierra Madre Villa there's a Snowglobe. Don't ask where because I've forgotten it's exact location, but it's definitely there.
Random tip from me, an idiot who didn’t know this until a year or so ago and am still 🤦♂️ about it..: Psycho increases your GUN AND GRENADE/MINE damage! I always thought Psycho was a melee damage only drug, because it makes no sense that it makes your guns shoot harder or your grenade explode stronger.. But it do. 😢😅
if you have all of the DLCs you can max out all of your skills. I would always collect skill books but wait to read them until I got the comprehension perk so I can max out everything before I hit level 50
Pro tip: when you’re about to reach the max of chips in the cassinos, go to the slots machine, quicksave and try to get the orange, with that you will end with more than you originally would have. Example: The max of chips in The Tops is 10k, with this you will end with 17k. This cannot work in the Ultra Luxe since it’s only blackjack and roulette’s.
Blackjack tips in case you didn't know If you have 9 or max luck, if the next card you need is a 10, hit double down. It'll most likely to give you the ten. If it's a total of 17, you can also bet on double down and it'll more likely to give you a 4. If it's a total of 18, best to just hit and it'll give you 2 or 3. Everything below 15 is just better with a hit except the total of 11. Don't just double down all willy nilly guys
BLACKJACK WITH SPECIAL LUCK 10 - will win or breakeven approx 85-90% of hands: 2-8 hit until 19+ 9-18 double down ... yes! double down even when its 18 (you feel lucky : ) 19+ stay There's no need to split cards as it takes more time and you'll be doubling down on about 50-60% of the hands anyway so the caps will accrue very quickly. But you can if you want to.

Good video. These are wrong though: 14. Good natured does not increase lockpick skill 15. You do not need to sleep 8 hrs to get the rested bonus. 1 hr is enough to get +10% xp. 18. Vendors restock twice per week not 72 hrs. 78. The pro perk does not work for rifles. But it does work for both sneak crits and regular crits. 86. This is incorrect. When reloading a save your base reload speed is used(not using rapid or agility). Does not matter if you have rapid reload or not. Switching a weapon forces the game to check reload speed and apply modifiers.
Don't know how helpful this tip will be, but for Energy Weapon Players i would reccomend getting repair up to at least 50 and hoarding scrap metal, scrap electronics, wonderglue, duct tape, and wrenches to build weapon repair kits. Since energy weapons are much less common in this game its easier to stockpile these and use them to repair your late game gear. Also if you are doing a pure energy weapon build, max out your science early to get the efficient recycler perk and AVOID jury rigging unless you need it for your armor. Most energy weapons dont really benefit from that perk. Finally, for hardcore mode players, leveling barter with an INT of at least 5 is useful as you will have access to the pack rat perk which will cut your total ammo carry weight in half. I usually win one cap short of a casino's limit then go play roulette. If I don't hit the number I go back to blackjack to get back to 1 short of the limit. It's stupid and takes time but you can get a few thousand caps over the limit.
When I started my new play through recently, I maxed my health, then I immediately went to Novac for Boone for my lack of equipment and got That Gun from the closet for some kind of artillery, did some of the kings questline once I got to Freeside, sold a bunch of random junk (mostly drugs lol) to reach the 2000 caps required to enter the strip and then gambled until I made 30k and bought every OP thing to progress in the game💀
The Endurance boost you get from the Implant doesn't allow you to get an extra Implant - only Intense Training or the extra SPECIAL point from Lonesome Road will allow you to do so
This is my second round of obsessional playing and only here do I find there is a 'pipboy' button that lets you use the pipboy as a flashlight. Wish I'd know that before.
What I like to do on PC is use the godmode (~tgm) console command to have unlimited carry weight and fast travel when over encumbered. It makes the game seem less like a chore and helps when stealth killing NCR at bases for their loot Some people may consider this cheating but I disable it when in combat to avoid having infinite health and ammo
#30 is wrong. You can travel back to 3/4 DLCs just not dead money. Lonesome road however is the only one you can travel to and from before completing its story.
Actually, there is one stat you can (and possibly should) put at 10. Endurance, since the more endurance you have the more implants you can install. Sure you can get the Endurance implant and have 10 Endurance that way, but that implant Endurance doesn't open up a new implant slot the same way actual Endurance of 10 does.
There's only 9 implants for sale so you only need 9 endurance. If you have 10 endurance you can only buy 8 cause no stat can exceed 10. Only thing starting with 10 will do is save you 4000 caps on the implant.
You don't need turbo to run to the Boomers. Just run along the cliffs on the left and the shells can't hit you. Wear light armor (especially with the Travel Light perk) and you'll be fine.
2:00 The skilled trait can be used more than three times. Trapped in Fallout has a video on a glitch using the Pip-Boy when leaving Goodsprings. Your skills can reach 90+ at level 1 ;)
i never take perks that let me craft ammo, recycle ammo, scrounge more ammo. . .because ammo is only scarce in the early game. later on, there's so ammo, i could never possibly use it all up.
The reason that .38 special and .223 go to weapons that aren’t listed as .38 or .223 is because .38 Special is actual a .357 caliber round and .223 is a lower chamber pressure 5.56mm round
my face trick is to get around the 8 luck - 10 at the start of the game, beeline it to NV and empty out every single casino... should end up with like 50k+... at level 1 or 2 (1 if you managed to skillfully avoid discovering locations.)
One of the best vendors in the game. They sell the most ammo. And also apparently they use fallout 3 vendor list instead of new Vegas. Which means you can potentially find an ultra rare raider helmet.
This game is best on PC. I always used the Project Nevada mod. Plus the unofficial patch. People say Project Nevada is old and out date, that you should use the more modern mods to replace it. Well, it's more of A hassle to install all the separate mods. (grenade throwing, implants, etc.) Also the Cyber 2077 mod does not have all the perks, that Project Nevada has. They say, PN has too many scripts running and it slows down A PC. I have an AMD dual core, 4 gb system mem and a GeForce 9800 gt 512 mb. I have no stuttering at all. Then again, I have all the essentials too. Anti-stutter mod, anti-crash, Stewie's tweaks, etc. The unofficial patch is the best, it fixes the Weathered Pistol mod meshes. These meshes (mod meshes) are missing from the base game.

I've seen it used as a method to speedrun the game. Just power attack with war club and stack anything for weapon speed.
You can get everything you need to fix ED-E in goodsprings behind old petes house to the left is the blue truck and the trailer attached to it inside the bed of the truck is 2 sensor modules 2 scrap electronics, 1 scrap metal in chets (steal it) 2 in victors house. Boom instant weight reducer and helps a load with spotting all the early insects for easy xp.

For the Mojave Express boxes, you need to activate them before you can actually ship to a certain location.
Another tip: Wander the wasteland and discover all essential locations before you decide to piss off the NCR or especially the Legion. Since the hit squads ambush you on the roads between locations, you can use fast travel to completely avoid them (exception: Legion hit squads can spawn at the El Dorado gas station between Novac and Boulder City, but you never need to travel there for any quest).
If you do need to travel in areas where the Legion might jump you, fast travel to Fields' Shack with ED-E as your companion, equip your best ranged weapon (this definitely works with the Gauss rifle, but the anti-materiel rifle will probably also work), turn so that the road to Nellis is on your left and Vegas is on your right, and slowly follow the road that runs parallel to the mountains until red blips show up on your compass. Crouch and look through your scope until the Legion assassins appear. If you have Rapid Reload, you should be able to take out all four before they get close enough to engage you in combat. You're now safe for the rest of the day and can go wherever you need to. In my experience, this is the place where you have the most advantage over them because they spawn far away and have very little cover.
Correction: Legion hit squads can also spawn at the rest stop on the highway between Repconn Headquarters and Vegas (I think it's the Grub and Gulp) and will probably kill at least one of the vendors. This isn't a place you're ever required to travel to; all of the main quest locations are safe from hit squads in my experience.
One more tip: The ravens aren't targetable in VATS, but they are killable, even if they are only worth 1 XP. They can't fight back, so it's not very sporting, but they do count toward the Lord Death challenge perk, which gives you a damage buff against absolutely everything, and all damage is good damage.
I love running into Legion assassin's. Free loot for me.
Once I have the gauss rifle or YCS/186, I begin fast-traveling to spots where they attack ON PURPOSE, for the "free" loot and XP. They aren't that difficult when you know they're coming, and I don't even use chems. for this..

Get caught stealing two items from Chet's store which will turn him hostile.
Once he's hostile run to either Easy Pete's house or that trailer near Barton Thorn.
Sleep for between 3 to 7 days.
The next time you visit Chet he gives you the discount.

This is really helpful if you run low on caps and decide to use the Legion Assasins to get rich. Yeah they hit hard but they carry 12.7 mm pistols assault carbines and so many doses of Antivenom that the Cazadores become a non-issue pre OWB.
As you gain levels Chet's bank gets bigger and bigger. By the time I was level 30 Chet had even more caps than The Gunrunners.

I like taking Skilled and Good Natured. One will pretty much neutralize any weaknesses the other has, so they compliment each other well.
I don't like the -5 to combat skills.

Getting the Endurance implant does not change how many implants you can get. It checks your permanent unmodded Endurance before the Endurance implant. Intense Training does count towards getting more implants though. You need 9 permanent Endurance to get every implant, and 7 for only the SPECIAL implants. I typically go for 8, to get every implant minus the Charisma one (something something dump stat), but you could totally go for 7 and skip Charisma and health regen
Also if you have low Intelligence and go for the low Int dialog option, Dr. Usanagi gives you a discount on the Intelligence implant out of pity lmao. I love this game
Best tip I can offer that I never see anyone else recommend: Read the how-to-play Help file. It's on the same screen as Save/ Load. It explains how to play Caravan in detail. It explains how to hotkey items, all controller/ keyboard commands, etc.
It is so embarrassing to watch people try to play New Vegas not knowing how to do anything and then complain about how bad the game is.

Caravan is a great way to score like 4 mil in caps if you wanna use luck as a dump stat. Caravan is almost a guarenteed win if you stack your deck with 10's, 9's, & 7's & then a bunch of dump cards

I, personally, follow a similar rule to the “treat chems like money,” but I also find it works for ammo too, assuming you aren’t doing hardcore.
Emergy ammo on hardcore is nice to sell as well as Lazer RCWs
I only play hardcore and never use chems - not even stimpaks. They are all currency for me.
I also like to choose one or two weapon types to never use, so those ammo types become more money.

Food is plentiful, and since stims heal over time same as food, food is superior once survival skill is higher. The only chems I'll use are rad x and rad away in emergencies. It's easy enough to pay a doctor to clear rads.
I still carry stims to use on my companions, of course.
Also to take note, if you manage your selling to the vending machines in the lonesome road and get the machines caps down below 50 or 100 (I forget which) exit out of it and go back into it and its caps will be reset to the max, allowing you to keep selling and selling. Easy way to get lots of caps.
Great video. I would also recommend visiting Diane at Red Rock Canyon and starting her quest. Once you complete the first part (rescuing Anders at Cottonwood Cove), you can choose the recipe for Turbo as your reward, which will pretty much break the game (be sure to start hoarding broc flowers, cazador venom glands, Jet, and turpentine as early as possible). Turpentine is the main bottleneck in production as there's no dependable source once you've looted all the non-respawning cans and vendors only occasionally restock it, whereas Jet restocks very reliably with Contreras and pretty reliably with the Gomorrah bartender, and the cazadores and broc flowers respawn every 3 days (and there are 9 broc flower plants at Crimson Caravans alone).
That is a great tip too, Turbo makes everything much easier.
Janitor closets and supply rooms in fnv often have turps. Near a lot of repair benches have turps too but other than that it’s random yes. I opt for GRX I don’t normally use turbo tbh

At the time I had a toaster, and running my copy the Ultimate Edition I'd bought off of GOG would result in constant savegame corruption once I got to around level 20 or so, so I bought the base game off of Steam and was running that. Having the DLC definitely helps, but it also opens up the possibility of Implant GRX, which renders Turbo less important.

One huge tipp even for veteran new vegas players i recommend hard save before you start missions and not rely on auto saves some missions like beyond the beef and monorail mission are extremely buggy and put an dent on your certain playthroughs.
That is true, there is a few missions like that. Even with Mods they can be kind of glitchy.
And keep multiple hard saves - I recommend 3 hard saves. Don't save over files. Make new file and delete old ones. A crash that corrupts a save file can lose you a lot.

Beyond the beef is hilariously buggy, no amount of mods will probably ever be able to fix that mess. I reverse pickpocketed dynamite into the pockets of Heck Gunderson because Walter Phebus wanted him dead (Pheeble Will) and while Heck Gunderson did blow up, even without any of his limbs, he was still considered alive by the game. Fun thing to try.
Another tip my buddy Seth taught me (RIP dude) - right before you hit the max winnings at any casino on blackjack, stop, and go play slots until you hit a jackpot. That way you can get significantly more caps than from just maxing out at the table

A good tip I came up with is (if you're not in hardcore mode) pick up every piece of ammy you find even if you don't intend on using it because it doesn't take up any weight and you can turn around and sell it later. I always make a ton of extra caps just doing this.

Another tip, get the confirmed bachelor’s perk and use it on Major Knight at the Mojave outpost. This will give you free repairs on EVERYTHING including armor.
I might have a good tip, harpers shack can be used as a good early game player home because it has multiple containers for you to organize all your stuff and has a ammo bench and science bench with a fire pit outside the shack along with the added bonus of fast traveling to right in front of the shack
23:47 I found this out on my first play through of DM. I got almost 10,000 chips exchanged for 10,000 pre war money (which weighs nothing) and then each pre war money sold for 8 caps each so I basically had 80,000 caps just in pre war money alone. Then you can walk out of the DLC with that 400,000 caps worth of gold. At that point, anything you want in the game is free since you practically have infinite money. Even if you do somehow spend all of it, you can just clear out the 4 casinos. On a new game, I’d suggest making a B line for Vegas, kill an NCR troop to take the monorail, clear the casinos, get all the implants from the base game, then head to the DLC, get the money, hit up the gun runners to get all your gear, go to Old world Blues, get those implants, then destroy everything in the game.
Also: I doubt anyone seeing this video is new and it’s something every fallout person knows, but drain charisma and just have it at 1. There’s no skill in charisma that you’re ever going to miss, your companions are already strong enough, and the skills they affect can pretty much be bought back with the good natured and skilled traits. Take all charisma and give it to luck,(for casinos) intelligence, (for more XP and skill points) and endurance (for more implants)

Same with honest hearts hence why the tip was based on him saying whenever you please so you aren’t locked into lonesome road.
I would only add one thing: there are vents in OWB and DM that you can interact with.

I just want to add that the game does keep track if your skills go over 100, in a way. Take this scenario: you have 100 in Guns and the Early Bird trait. From 6pm to 6am, your Guns skill will drop to 97 due to the Early Bird penalty to your agility and luck. You use a Guns skill book at night to boost your skill back to 100 from 97. When you get the Early Bird bonus again, your Guns skill doesn't go over 100, but the game remembers that you have those extra skill points, and from then on, you will always maintain 100 in Guns, even with -1 to agility and luck. This probably works with other things too, like if you have 10 Endurance plus the Endurance implant, your "virtual" 11 endurance will drop to 10 with minor radiation poisoning and you won't see any actual penalty for minor radiation poisoning, which would be nice to have with Rad Child or Atomic.
The First of Rawr tip is amazing, it makes combat way, way easier in Dead Money. I was frequently hitting things once and having limbs pop off. I do want to add, use the "Cross" special move in VATS (75 unarmed) to deal 2.5x limb damage!
One small optimization for high luck gambling:
Once you've gotten all the comp prizes in a casino, but before you get banned, I find it's better to switch from Blackjack to Slots. Since you get banned whether you're 1 Cap over the limit or 1000 over, it makes more sense to play Slots since the payout is higher, meaning that you'll likely exceed the limit by a higher amount.
Roulette is technically even better, but that requires you to play Roulette, which I do not recommend 😄
I do the roulette just because I'm doing some longer runs and like the idea of all that extra cash. Having said that, I wouldn't recommend it unless you're willing to get trolled by the game for over an hour, watching the ball land right next to or directly across the wheel from whatever number you're betting on. You'll learn very quickly that your luck stat does not affect roulette- sometimes, it feels like it has a negative effect.
Also, save-scumming the gambling is for chumps: if you have 9-10 luck, you can easily step away from the roulette table, go over to the blackjack table, get all your chips back, and get right back to the roulette table.
@TehAdrenalinePickle Fair enough. I think for Slots, the break point where Luck favors you is 7. I usually don't gamble until my Luck is 9 or 10, and minus the occasional dry spell, it doesn't take long to turn a profit, although Blackjack is still faster. The idea though is to get banned because you hit 3x Oranges or Grapes or something, which is a better payout than you can win in a Blackjack hand.
It's been a while, but I think 3x Oranges on Slots is like 7500 Caps?

You don't need to sleep 8 hours to get _well rested._ Just 1 hour will fully heal and grant the rested perk.

If by "survival" you mean Hardcore Mode, no, the Well Rested perk activates for any amount of sleep. The effect lasts for 8 hours, though.
Speaking of survival, 100 in survival skill grants _well rested_ from sleeping in any outdoor bed - which are all over. Very useful on hardcore, as healing is more difficult.
I can't speak for hardcore/survival, but if you initiate sleep in say, the bed inside the King's HQ, and then immediately cancel it in any other difficulty, even though you slept 0 hours, the effect is still applied.
If only it worked like that in real life.
steal the spiked knuckles in bison steve casino, repair them with the perfect brass knuckles in the nevada highway patrol station, now you have a cc weapon until you choose to upgrade.

Awesome video! I played Fallout 3 in 2014 (as a 14 year old) and I fell in love with the world, I remember getting an Xbox One for Christmas right as Fallout 4 was coming out and being so excited. I never had New Vegas though, and recently I’ve gone back for nostalgia into 3 and 4, and decided I need to dig into everyone’s favorite. I’ve only played a few hours so far but these tips are very helpful for a completely new player! Especially tips about broken perks that I never would have known otherwise

Another something to note about Logan's Loophole, if you hit level 50, then respect into Logan's loophole, you can have both the extended chem time, and still be at level 50. Really solid for a chem heavy late game build.

I've lightly modded the game using the Viva New Vegas guide, and one of the mods I've installed, probably the unofficial patch, makes it so you can't respect into Logan's Loophole if you're above level 30. So anyone modding should keep that in mind
I start out with 10 charisma and tag barter. Then I pick Skilled and Goodnatured.
I loot everything I can in Good springs and sell it all to Chet.
Then when I leave Goodsprings I respec my character to the actual build I want.
Wish I'd seen this all those years ago, Now trial and error have given me most of this information.
I do recommend it for new players.
New glitch for fallout new vegas, try to have the pip boy on the screen while walking out of goodsprings when the rebuild menu comes up, select rebuild character, select skilled and ay other trait you wish, put any special skills somewhere random, when you accept the pip boy will lower slightly but the rebuild menu will come up again. Keep doing skilled over and over until you hit 100 in all skills then make your permenant selections and hit travel onward, enjoy a maxed out character.
Another tip, when you steal stuff like that gun or the ranger sequoia, just drop it and pick them back up and it will remove the stolen mark on it (it doesn't work on everything tho)
For some reason, the 3/0 buck in Chet's inventory resets everyday during one of my playthroughs. I installed the M37 mod and it takes 20 gauge so I was pretty much set until I got to The Strip 😂

If you are including glitches / bug exploits, I didn't hear mention of the multiple-companion glitch (have all 6 humanoids + 1 of the pets all at the same time) or the Raul free repairs exploit.
Those two are my favorite cheats, so on many playthroughs, the first thing I do when leaving Goodsprings is go rescue Raul from Black Mountain and then run straight to the 188 to receuit Veronica.
On tip 51 when the game first came out the powder charges were the rock it launcher schematics from fo3. The dart gun schematics was in one of the hangers near pearls office. You couldn’t build them,then after a bit they updated and they were gone. Guess because a different team made fo3 they didn’t want them to use their weapons.
That could be FNV did get rushed out so things probably didn't go as planned.
This is still one of the best games I’ve ever played 💪🏾

This might have been said already, but one small correction: The implant you get that increases endurance does NOT count towards the endurance check for implants, no matter what order you get them in. The implant endurance check will only count your starting endurance or increases from Intense Training.
The easy way into the Boomers at Nellis is to go through the tunnel after you sneak past a few death claws close to the entrance. Then follow the track to the fence. One stealth boy should work . And Raws claw is great to have in the Sierra Madre . I just had too remember not make it right after getting it. Plus at the start of the game you can go into the Divide at level 1 to pick up loot with out having to get into Combat ✓
Ratslayer is the best early game weapon and well worth the trek to get it
I agree, it's one of my most favorite weapons in FNV.
Even end game at level 50, my standard loadout is 1st Recon Beret, Rebreather, Naughty Nightwear, MF Hyperbreeder Alpha, Riot Shotgun, and Ratslayer.
1.) Break down regular rockets and make incendiary rockets, huge profits (with good barter), can buy all the components (50 bmg / primers, regular rockets / missiles) except Flamer fuel at the Khans' armory and Hoover Dam quartermaster, in bulk.
2.) When you run out of Flamer fuel to make incendiary rockets, try explosive rockets, because you'll accidentally be stockpiling the other component needed already (cherry bombs, do not sell them, save them for making rockets).
3.) The weapon repair kit vendor codes for dead money + 1000 chips (Sierra Madre gambling reward) / week = crazy money.
4.) If you have Caesar's Favor quest and the Transportalponder, go do the quest and stand by the trees near the boxes, use the portal twice, check the boxes again. Free loot, repeat as often as you want.
5.) Healing Poultice is probably the best healing item in the game, also heals limbs, you need cave fungus from honest hearts, so stock up when you go through.
6.) Once you have OWB you can clone all the other components needed for healing poultice.
7.) Doing the BoS questline and joining not only gets you access to power armor early, but you can go to the BoS safehouse and get 2 free sets of power armor and a bunch of valuable weapons. Pointing this out because I played through the game at least 10 times before I realized that you could join them.
8.) You can do lonesome road before the NCR/Legion karma reset and they will ignore the nuking once you do the karma reset. Good way to get the Scorched Sierra armor on an NCR playthrough (if you don't mind breaking character for a moment).
9.) All human/ghoul companions can wear power armor.
10.) Depending on your playstyle Heavyweight is probably not worth it vs Strong Back / Pack Rat
11.) Space Suit + Ulysses Mask = maxed radiation resistance
12.) If you use the Mojave Drive in as your base, you can take everything you store there to OWB with you enter, there is no weight check on the way in (Downside: no crafting benches) if you have the Long Haul perk you can base anywhere and bring it with you when you go to OWB.
Actually, the Dead Money perks aren’t the only perks you can hold onto when you rebuild your character. You can hold onto most perks when doing this. If you power level to 50, you can keep almost all of those perks then take Here and Now at lv 10 to start the game at lvl 11 with 25+ perks. I’ve tried to find a list of what perks will stick around and what ones won’t, but couldn’t. For example, I did it and got Fast Learner 3 times and Lessons Learned to shorten the grind. When I rebuilt, I only still had Lessons Learned
the ones he mentions in the video are the only ones for level 2 & 4, but I think every single perk at level 6 and higher does
IIn the Dead Money DLC, somewhere in the Sierra Madre Villa there's a Snowglobe. Don't ask where because I've forgotten it's exact location, but it's definitely there.

In order to get That Gun, you can also buy the key to the back room from Cliff Briscoe (instead of picking the lock).
Random tip from me, an idiot who didn’t know this until a year or so ago and am still 🤦♂️ about it..: Psycho increases your GUN AND GRENADE/MINE damage! I always thought Psycho was a melee damage only drug, because it makes no sense that it makes your guns shoot harder or your grenade explode stronger.. But it do. 😢😅
if you have all of the DLCs you can max out all of your skills. I would always collect skill books but wait to read them until I got the comprehension perk so I can max out everything before I hit level 50
I'm pretty sure knock knock is a reference to the shining and not American psycho, as jack nicholson uses an axe to "knock" on a door in the film.
Pro tip: when you’re about to reach the max of chips in the cassinos, go to the slots machine, quicksave and try to get the orange, with that you will end with more than you originally would have.
Example: The max of chips in The Tops is 10k, with this you will end with 17k. This cannot work in the Ultra Luxe since it’s only blackjack and roulette’s.
Note: getting the endurance implant does not give you an extra implant slot.

Blackjack tips in case you didn't know
If you have 9 or max luck, if the next card you need is a 10, hit double down. It'll most likely to give you the ten. If it's a total of 17, you can also bet on double down and it'll more likely to give you a 4. If it's a total of 18, best to just hit and it'll give you 2 or 3. Everything below 15 is just better with a hit except the total of 11. Don't just double down all willy nilly guys
BLACKJACK WITH SPECIAL LUCK 10 - will win or breakeven approx 85-90% of hands:
2-8 hit until 19+
9-18 double down ... yes! double down even when its 18 (you feel lucky : )
19+ stay
There's no need to split cards as it takes more time and you'll be doubling down on about 50-60% of the hands anyway so the caps will accrue very quickly. But you can if you want to.

15. You do not need to sleep 8 hrs to get the rested bonus. 1 hr is enough to get +10% xp.
18. Vendors restock twice per week not 72 hrs.
78. The pro perk does not work for rifles. But it does work for both sneak crits and regular crits.
86. This is incorrect. When reloading a save your base reload speed is used(not using rapid or agility). Does not matter if you have rapid reload or not. Switching a weapon forces the game to check reload speed and apply modifiers.

Don't know how helpful this tip will be, but for Energy Weapon Players i would reccomend getting repair up to at least 50 and hoarding scrap metal, scrap electronics, wonderglue, duct tape, and wrenches to build weapon repair kits. Since energy weapons are much less common in this game its easier to stockpile these and use them to repair your late game gear. Also if you are doing a pure energy weapon build, max out your science early to get the efficient recycler perk and AVOID jury rigging unless you need it for your armor. Most energy weapons dont really benefit from that perk.
Finally, for hardcore mode players, leveling barter with an INT of at least 5 is useful as you will have access to the pack rat perk which will cut your total ammo carry weight in half. Hope this helps!

I usually win one cap short of a casino's limit then go play roulette. If I don't hit the number I go back to blackjack to get back to 1 short of the limit. It's stupid and takes time but you can get a few thousand caps over the limit.
I save all my gear in the safe of the good springs gas station where Ringo was hiding. Also left boone there to chill while I did the Legion missions.
When I started my new play through recently, I maxed my health, then I immediately went to Novac for Boone for my lack of equipment and got That Gun from the closet for some kind of artillery, did some of the kings questline once I got to Freeside, sold a bunch of random junk (mostly drugs lol) to reach the 2000 caps required to enter the strip and then gambled until I made 30k and bought every OP thing to progress in the game💀
The Endurance boost you get from the Implant doesn't allow you to get an extra Implant - only Intense Training or the extra SPECIAL point from Lonesome Road will allow you to do so
This is my second round of obsessional playing and only here do I find there is a 'pipboy' button that lets you use the pipboy as a flashlight. Wish I'd know that before.
What I like to do on PC is use the godmode (~tgm) console command to have unlimited carry weight and fast travel when over encumbered. It makes the game seem less like a chore and helps when stealth killing NCR at bases for their loot
Some people may consider this cheating but I disable it when in combat to avoid having infinite health and ammo
#30 is wrong. You can travel back to 3/4 DLCs just not dead money. Lonesome road however is the only one you can travel to and from before completing its story.

Actually, there is one stat you can (and possibly should) put at 10. Endurance, since the more endurance you have the more implants you can install. Sure you can get the Endurance implant and have 10 Endurance that way, but that implant Endurance doesn't open up a new implant slot the same way actual Endurance of 10 does.
There's only 9 implants for sale so you only need 9 endurance. If you have 10 endurance you can only buy 8 cause no stat can exceed 10. Only thing starting with 10 will do is save you 4000 caps on the implant.
You don't need turbo to run to the Boomers. Just run along the cliffs on the left and the shells can't hit you. Wear light armor (especially with the Travel Light perk) and you'll be fine.
You only need to sleep for 1 hour to get the well rested xp boost on a non survival difficulty play through

2:00 The skilled trait can be used more than three times. Trapped in Fallout has a video on a glitch using the Pip-Boy when leaving Goodsprings. Your skills can reach 90+ at level 1 ;)
i never take perks that let me craft ammo, recycle ammo, scrounge more ammo. . .because ammo is only scarce in the early game. later on, there's so ammo, i could never possibly use it all up.
I like them because they give you some more ammo options.
The black combat armor at one of the burned trader is a quest item that you can take into the dead money if you don't finish Cass quest
The reason that .38 special and .223 go to weapons that aren’t listed as .38 or .223 is because .38 Special is actual a .357 caliber round and .223 is a lower chamber pressure 5.56mm round

Yep. Can make it to the HQ for the second ED-E upgrade even at level 5 or lower. If pump up lockpick skill, can get some good weapons and armor.

my face trick is to get around the 8 luck - 10 at the start of the game, beeline it to NV and empty out every single casino... should end up with like 50k+... at level 1 or 2 (1 if you managed to skillfully avoid discovering locations.)

Yeah it's hidden, but pretty good for all the ammo it gives.
One of the best vendors in the game. They sell the most ammo. And also apparently they use fallout 3 vendor list instead of new Vegas. Which means you can potentially find an ultra rare raider helmet.

This game is best on PC. I always used the Project Nevada mod. Plus the unofficial patch. People say Project Nevada is old and out date, that you should use the more modern mods to replace it. Well, it's more of A hassle to install all the separate mods. (grenade throwing, implants, etc.) Also the Cyber 2077 mod does not have all the perks, that Project Nevada has. They say, PN has too many scripts running and it slows down A PC. I have an AMD dual core, 4 gb system mem and a GeForce 9800 gt 512 mb. I have no stuttering at all. Then again, I have all the essentials too. Anti-stutter mod, anti-crash, Stewie's tweaks, etc. The unofficial patch is the best, it fixes the Weathered Pistol mod meshes. These meshes (mod meshes) are missing from the base game.
