Reading your comment as I'm about to turn 73 and her channel has inspired me to get into soaps and body butters. Have you gotten started into your dream business yet? I live in Mississippi and planning to get something going after Christmas
Great video! While watching you scoop and fill the jars, I couldn’t help but think a pancake dispensing jug would work well. You pull the trigger and the batter comes out of the bottom dispensing nozzle. You could just hold over the jugs and fill. Just a thought!
I use a whisk to add the oils/EO-FO/Preservative to the sugar first - to moisten it without having to worry about the waxes thickening and clumping it. Then I add the melted butters and waxes and whisk again and it doesn't clump. A canning funnel with a 1/3-1/2 measuring cup as a scoop - it fills the jars super-fast and doesn't make a mess. The rim stays clean and dry. Thank you so much for sharing the recipe. My first batch came out perfect. I use small amounts of colored clays to give the mixtures a color to compliment a fragrance.
Ellen you are such a wonderful person ❤ thank you for all of your teachings. My business and my creativity is growing because of you. Thank you sooo much you inspired me to take my creativity into soap making as well. Please keep being you. It's so rare to see good people like you. I’m new to making scrubs and lotions, but this scrub is absolutely amazing! The recipe is easy to follow even for us newbies! It’s the only sugar scrub recipe I use!!
Just made this with a pumpkin pie spice blend from NOW essential oils and Vanilla oil. Pretty amazing. Taking some to the Farmer's Market and giving some away. Love using it on bumpy arms!
I made this today. I split off the sugar and made green with Juicy Pear and Orange with Pomegranate Mango FO. And, Oh my! I can't wait to try it once it sets up. Thank you for sharing your recipes!
OMG!!!!! I absolutly LOVE this scrub!!!! Thank You for sharing this luxurious recipe! I used Rose hip seed oil, Avacado and Jojoba! The first batch is scented with Candied Citrus from Bramble Berry ❤ I thought it was to soft at first , but firmed up to perfection this morning ❤❤❤❤oh and my sugars were Brown and light brown!
Ellen, should we be worried about destroying properties when melting the hard butter? I make my scrub in a crock pot, I melt the butters and waxes on LOW, then add the rest when it's cooled down considerably. Even on low it got to about 190 , maybe I should melt in a double boiler. Have you temped the butters coming out of the micro?
Finally got around to making this and oh Mylanta, I wish there was smell-a-vision! I used Sweet Vanilla Chai from WSP and added Turbinado sugar along with the white cane sugar. I hope my customers love this as much as I do. Thank you for providing the recipe! I will definitely be making more varieties! 🥰
This scrub is amazing. I just made it and used it. My hands feel so smooth and smell amazing. I used grapeseed, jojoba, and sunflower oils. I’ll make some probably after Christmas and I am sure I will love it. Thank you so much Ellen for sharing this recipe with us. Oh and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family from Australia
Hi my gorgeous Ellen, how do you know how much you need for every ingredients? I’m making almost everything you making but in large amoung like triple of what you making. I just multiplied by 3 of yours.
love this!, I make my emulsified scrub with a bit more sugar to oil ratio and i scoop it into containers with a little icecream scooper, makes it super easy :D
Awesome recipe. Can't wait to try some of these. Having made a gazillion cupcakes and muffins in my catering I was thinking an ice cream scoop would be a great way to fill those jars! Thanks for your great videos! (my kids named the account--sorry about that LOL)
For sure going to try & make this as bought some for reduced price but very expensive so if can make my own would need the oils but know it would be worth it! Ty
my teen daughter was like “why would you make that?” I had her try it on her hands and five minutes later, she comes back and says “ummm…. I’m going to shower, can I have some more of that scrub?” Now she gets impatient if she runs out and I don’t have any on hand. 😂❤
So people that make these scrubs, don't use them in the shower? Solidified wax and oils melted and again solidify only to melt with hot shower water, oils don't go down drain pipes?
These are so gorgeous, thank you so much for sharing! May I ask, what is that incredible font on the label that says "bergamot and mandarin"? It's such a delightful font!
Hi Ellen Ruth! I just wanted to say thank you for the recipes and tutorials. I’m making all my Christmas gifts this year. So far I made your lotion bars and lip balms and super excited to try more. Question: how long is this scrub good for, is it too early to make it now for Christmas gifts?
I whipped some of these up yesterday. They may be my new favorite thing! I made Lavender/Vanilla, Tea Tree, Peppermint and a few blends. I used white sugar and the finished product is lovely. If I use the white sugar again, I may add a tiny bit of mica for visual interest. "Body Polish" is the perfect description!

Would adding Polysorbate 80 help with the oily bathtub afterwards?
Yes👍
