    Why make lavender sugar scrub?
    If you're a night owl or suffer from insomnia or stress, this recipe is for YOU. Lavender has a calming and soothing quality that will help you relax and rejuvenate. It dramatically improves the quality of my sleep, especially after I'm sitting in front of the computer making these videos into the wee hours...
    A few tips:
    - Use granulated white sugar for this recipe, since it won't overpower the lavender scent and allows you to see the lavender buds better
    - Feel free to drop the buds out if you don't like the texture
    - Add aloe vera gel if you want additional skin therapy benefits
    - Don't forget to download my FREE printable tags on the website below so you can give these away as gifts!

    Nice! I have always wanted to start my own small business and make these. Do you know anything i can use to give the scrub a light purple colour which is skin-friendly and doesn’t leave colour on the skin?

      You might look into the rules for selling bath products, especially since this recipe is for home use, it doesn’t have a preservative so it would have to be used and not stored

    • @FirstDayofHome

      I think it looks the best with white sugar so you can see the flecks of lavender, but you can definitely experiment with brown sugar or any sugar you like. Enjoy!

    I noticed that you did not add color to your lavender scrub what would you recommend to add for color?

    • @FirstDayofHome
      @FirstDayofHome  2 роки тому

      Hi there. I didn’t add any, but you could add a food-safe coloring like what is used in baking. A few drops per ounce shouldn’t stain the skin. There’s also this product for bath bombs and such: amzn.to/3rQcdKU

    • @FirstDayofHome

      Since the scrub doesn’t contain water, you technically wouldn’t need a preservative. However, you’re welcome to use a preservative if you’re concerned about water getting into the jar. I’ve never had an issue because I scoop out the scrub with dry hands. It’s up to you based on how you plan to use it. I hope this helps!

      Mine doesn’t stink, but maybe it’s a personal preference. Perhaps the scent differs by brand, but I’ve never experienced a strange smell. My scrub smells like a combination of lavender and coconut oil.

    • @FirstDayofHome
      @FirstDayofHome  3 роки тому +1

      I suppose there’s no reason you can’t except you may not like the texture of the sugar. Also, those with oily skin or acne may find that the coconut oil can clog pores. I’d try a small amount before applying it over a large part of your face.

    • @FirstDayofHome
      @FirstDayofHome  2 роки тому

      How nice to have a fresh plant, Karen! I’ve never tried a mortar and pestle, but I could certainly see the benefit of using it to release the oils. My only piece of advice is to not use the same tools for cooking if there’s a risk that the plant had pesticides. Have fun!

    • @FirstDayofHome
      @FirstDayofHome  2 роки тому

      You could also use an empty glass food jar if you don’t have a mason jar. Having a lid helps a lot. If you don’t have a lid, it may not last quite as long, but you could definitely try using parchment paper with a rubber band or ribbon for the time being. Hope this helps!

      You could definitely infuse an oil like jojoba and then combine it with the sugar and coconut oil. Sometimes putting it in the fridge helps it set too. I say go for it!
