Hi Ms. Ellen! I made the oatmeal cream lotion the other day. This was my first time ever making a lotion. I believe my end result turned out pretty good. I use this as a body moisturizer after bathing but I'm having issues with the cream not wanting to rub in. It leaves a white cast as I'm trying to rub it in. As I keep working to rub it in, it gets a little rough to rub in, but does eventually absorb in to my skin. Any idea as to why I'm having to work to get it to absorb in to my skin? I do not have thirsty skin. I've been moisturizing my skin since I was a kid. The oatmeal, milk and honey smells very nice. It's very moisturizing and my skin feel so soft! @@EllenRuthSoap Hi Ellen Ruth--thank you very much for the reply! Are there any oils/butters specifically that you'd recommend as non-comedogenic? (apologies if you mentioned it in the video and I missed it)
Hi Ellen, thanks for such great video. I tried making it and it came out really nice and now my whole family wants it too. How do I make a bigger batch? Do i just multiply everything by 2 or is there a formula i need ro follow?
I don't recommend milk lotions because they have a very short shelf life (like 2 weeks) and need to be kept in the fridge. Powder milks are another matter and can make a great addition to lotion.
Im trying to figure out the fragrance percentage. How do I calculate it? I went to the BB website to use the fragrance calculator for Oatmeal, milk & honey. The IFRA says 7%, does that seem kind of high? I'm not sure which ingredients to add together to figure out what the 7% is.
How long does this take to cool? I attempted this tonight and it is quite thin. Not sure if it thickens as it cools or if I messed it up. It is currently 97 degrees. Do you continue to stick blend as it cools? I apologize for all the questions.
If you dont have emulsifying wax, can you substitute beeswax? I have struggled to make lotion. Body butter is easy. Lotion is hard for me. Thanks. Also, thaks for your videos. This looks great and I can't wait to try! I am wondering if there is any concern of spoilage because you are using the oat "tea"? Or is the preservative enough to maintain it? Have you used this and left it in a jar long term? I just want to see before I use my *expensive* butters! Thank you for the video as always!
You can use the max recommended usage rate of preservative for this formula to be certain it's preserved well, I've had no issues with this going bad...
In your body butter cream lotion recipe you used stearic acid. What’s the significance in using it in that cream recipe but not this one? I’m trying to make a thick cream for my daughter (she has severe eczema) and I’d like to use as little ingredients as possible. I really like the body butter recipe but I’m wondering if the stearic acid is necessary. If it is I’ll gladly use it but if there’s a way to leave it out, by adding more emulsifying wax, then I’d rather do that. Thank you in advance for you help!😊
I noticed that the colloidal oats are not on the recipe. Is the a certain reason thatvwe dont have to factor them in ti the percentage? It looks like such a lovely cream
Thank you so much for all your videos, a newmby here, I have found that you can get Colloidal Oats Liquid, have you ever used it before just asking. Again thanks for everything :)

I absolutely love your videos!! I just tried your emulsfying scrub recipe yesterday. I also used tweaked to my preference you BB recipe!! Thank you so much for sharing. You look great for 56!! I would love for you to try making a hydrating face cream recipe!😉
That's a great suggestion, I'll put it on my "to do" list❣️
Stearic is a conditioning and thickening agent, it adds structure to the lotion.
Great recipe! Do you think it gives the cream a different feel if you add the glycerin in the end compared to add it to the water face?
I don't think it would change the final outcome too much.
I noticed that the colloidal oats are not on the recipe. Is the a certain reason thatvwe dont have to factor them in ti the percentage? It looks like such a lovely cream
They are an optional ingrdient, if you want to make it extra "oaty".
Thank you so much for all your videos, a newmby here, I have found that you can get Colloidal Oats Liquid, have you ever used it before just asking. Again thanks for everything :)
Oooo, I haven't seen that yet, sound like a fun ingredient❣️

I used Oatmeal Milk & Honey for this one.
@@EllenRuthSoap Thank you 🫠🥰
I've tried grinding the oats as fine as possible, then mixing it in warm water, then straining it.
What a lovely video ❤
Thank you! 😊
What water u use Ma'am. Distilled water or normal water
I recommend distilled water.
Hi! If I do not make the oat water with oats, how much Colloidal Oats should I add to the hot water? Thanks!
I would suggest 1 tsp to 1 tbls to start, and you could increase that if desired.
Perfect! Thank you!
Hi Ellen, can this lotion be used on the face ?
Yes👍
You’re incredible! Thank you for your informative videos! I am so happy and thankful I found you!!
