- Welcome to the Scale Modelling Cafe and Part One of the new project, Zokei Mura's F-4C Phantom II. As a retired fighter pilot I have immense respect reverence and respect for all those combat crews that flew during the Vietnam war, and Robin Olds was the ultimate combat leader, the fighter pilots' fighter pilot. So there's a lot of pressure to get this project right.
In this video I describe the model, all the after market I will use and what I envisage the final model will look like. I can't wait to get started! - Навчання та стиль
Looking forward to this one.
Hope you enjoy the series Tom
Nice one.
Looking forward to watching the rest of this build.
I've just finished the Meng F-4G, lovely kit.
I hear it's really nice, I want the E
Phantastic, can't wait
Thanks Gerry, I'm looking forward to getting stuck in
Really looking forward to this build!
Me too!
that'll be a busy build. looking forward to seeing the after market going down on the plastic
It's going to take a while but I'm looking forward to it
Jamie, great choice of of a true American fighter pilot hero. As much as i enjoyed the apocolypse build this one really has my interest. from aircraft to markings to after markets i cant wait for the build to get underway.
Thanks Ralph, he is an utter legend!
looking forward to this , cheers
Thanks Tom, me too!
I'm late to the party. The actual radome material was fiberglass shaped with resin and so I don't know that chipping of the radome would necessarily appear metallic though I've no idea what color it would be unless it is a primer color which I doubt is metallic as that would interfere with the radar.
You are correct although many radomes had a metallic tip for strength so maybe this one too?
So looking forward to this Jamie. I want to do a robin olds phantom in the future👍
It's such a great subject mate
as a short add-on, Olds reportedly did NOT make more claims because he would have been shipped home, so definite kills were simply given away to other pilots, or so I've read... Luck, Dane
Thanks Dane. I'm not sure he shot down more aeroplanes and gave the claims to others, I suspect he managed the tactical situation to enable others to take the shots.
I'm building a 1/72 Accurate Miniatures SCAT XXVII at the moment.
Awesome!
I’ve got the Academy version of Scat XXVII in the queue. I refuse to call it a stash.
I really like the Academy kit
Hey Jamie, welcome back after Founder Day break, hope the parents enjoyed the kingdom? Great video so interesting hearing about Mr Olds, really looking forward to your build, cheers Liam
They did mate, very much thanks.
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Glad you liked it mate
Jamie, who's decals did you use for your kit? You may have said in the video but I keep missing it. Was it Fundekals? Sorry for the bother.
Fundekals mate, no worries, happy to help
@@thescalemodellingcafe thanks Jamie. I have saved your video series as it inspires me to build Col. Olds aircraft too. I have a bit of a soft spot for for the F-4 because I worked on the F-4E prior to the USAF transitioning to the F-16. I guess you could say I was a Phantom Fanatic before I was a MX5Fanatic.
In the start video- why is there a silhouette of an F104 on the splitter plate?
That's a MiG-21
Can't wait to see this one finished! Been a Robin Olds fan for decades now. At the risk of being rude, might one inquire as to the total cost of the after market goodies? Considering the price of the Z-M kit, this starts to frighten me a little. Thanks, Dane ( my wife would kill me )
I can't wait either! I'm not sure the total cost mate, but it's a lot! Apart from the Phase Hangar stuff, Mike sent me those as he's a mate of mine.
Hej mate, I really really really like your tutorials and (intro)videos. When you showing a the extra stuff for the model, is it possible for you to show us a detailed look what inside in each box....?!
Just asking🙃😉
Hi mate. I've done a few in box sprue tours before, and I plan to do more it';s just finding the time!
OK Baldrick, nice to see someone doing a robin Olds bird. The man, the myth and the moustache.
I did ask previously about you growing the tash , and know the answer.
And are you braking those teeth in for a horse?
Teeth?
@@thescalemodellingcafe often said when struggling with words . As in don't mind me ,I'm just braking these teeth in for a horse
BLAH, BLAH, BLAH !
Thanks for the feedback...
