@@sckaze777 I already posted it yesterday (I posted the lyrics to a video on this channel), but with so many comments you may have trouble finding it. It might be easier to find it if you set your settings to "Newest first". I'm using a translator, so sorry if my English is weird! 😖
That's why I'm learning it myself! Japan is a beautiful country with a beautiful culture and language, I'm proud to be learning (even if my brother picks on me for it)
that Madrigal is so well pronounced 😳 I say ... because it has quite complicated letters to pronounce in Japanese like Dri and Gal without Ru coming out
Some characters don’t sound like they are voiced by Japanese actors. Camilo for example says “ISABELA” but very pronounced which isn’t possible in Japanese. The “let’s go! Let’s go!” sung by mirabel doesn’t sound Japanese. On the other hand, some characters sound like they are voiced by Japanese actors, a good example is Felix, Dolores, and Abuela. They all pronounce the words well and for Felix, he says “buruno” instead of “Bruno”. The extras in the movie are also quite good at Japanese leading me to believe they are actually Japanese. I could be wrong about most of this because I’ve only been learning Japanese culture and language for 3 years but just bringing up what I think.
@@McKaylaGamez Actually I did some research, Mirabel's voice actor is Japanese, and I haven't fully researched, but I believe Camilo's VC is as well, though I agree the "Isabela" doesn't sound very possible in Japanese.
im sorry if i sound really angry at you saying that lmao im just chillin bro but why are you glad that they kept spanish words? does it need to retain some of the spanish feeling otherwise it wont feel like the original? im just asking my g
@@drew5564 because this movie is about colombian culture and other latin countries. Keeping some of the words are another form of representation for them And representation is REALLY important
Listening to the pronunciation of Madrigal, as well as other names, gives me the impression that the Japanese localisation made an intentional effort to have the pronunciation of all Colombian names stay true to the English dub. This is interesting, as Japanese dubs typically translate foreign names to the Japanese alphabet "Katakana", which is consistent with the phonetics in the Japanese language. I don't think this inherently makes a dub worse; I think it mostly depends on the context. In the case of Encanto, I think it was definitely optimal to keep the Colombian pronunciation. Not only does the movie take place in Colombia, but the Colombian culture, tradition and history, as it is depicted in the movie, is a very integral part of the experience.
Japanese pronunciation isn't much different from a lot of Spanish based languages except the R's, double L's, extra -u's and -o's, and even then it isn't a strange thing for Japanese to do proper Spanish pronunciations (you can see Japanese and Korean singers do Spanish covers very well actually). It's nice that they have taken it to consideration, however I doubt it detracts 'part of the experience' if they didn't 'properly pronounce it'. Disney is not known for keeping consistency on many levels selling foreign things to other foreign markets, like with Coco, so it is always expected of them not to and really wouldn't make much difference as it's always been that way. Note: Whether Katakana or Hiragana they are going to be pronounced the same and known that they omit the 'extras' of their own words often, just that Katakana indicates foreign anything, alternative to Japanese words/expressions (pasokon, don don, and so on), etc. As for foreign words/names, it's usually to help them see an easier way to pronounce them and more often than not go with that, but not the only way.
Well in a family as "tight-knitted" as the madrigals, obaa-chan would've probably been used. Abuela, even if she's highly respected, is still a close family member who they see everyday and plus, the madrigals are good people who are friendly towards everyone so there's no surprise to them being casual especially to family members.
No matter how the situation is in a Japanese family you don’t call your grandmother oba-san. It is always oba-chan or baaba etc. Oba-san is used for people who are not part of the family. Even in English you don’t call your grandmother “grandmother”. You will still call her “grandma”, because grandmother is used in situations like introduction or by people who are not part of the family. For example, “Is your grandmother at home?” , “Is your grandmother feeling well?” Etc. But a grandchild doesn’t talk to their grandmother “Hey grandmother how are you feeling today?” Instead you usually say “hey, grandma how are you feeling today?” Same goes to Oba-san. Family members don’t call their grandmothers Oba-san.
@@pastellla-ri8471 in Japan, although uncommon, obaa-san is still used with family members especially with the upper-class. Usually obaa-san and obaa-sama is used in an upper-class family to show that the grandmother is to be treated with upmost respect. Its a sign of status if you will. And please don't call your grandma 'baaba' the word is equivalent to the word 'hag'. Baa-chan is a better alternative.
Fun thing about the Japanese title, it could be translated as "Mirabel and the Disgustingly Magical House", with house having a double meaning of a house, Casita and a family, the Madrigals (same as in english, X of House Y)
the singing voice for the japanese dub is so stellar!!!! you could clearly hear the difference with the english voice -- i love stephanie beatriz but upon hearing this, i kinda wish they went with someone who has a singing background... it's so much more magical!!!!
I love the fact that Mirabel has such a deep voice in the Japanese version. Because of stupid stereotypes people seem to think that Japanese girls all have very high-pitched voice like some “cute little girls”. That’s so annoying.
Apart from being Japanese, I think it was the right decision to choose her with high singing ability. Be good at putting emotions into a song. *I'm sorry if the subtle nuance of English is different.

I personally saw the movie in Spanish, English and Japanese. (I'm Mexican) and at least I liked the Japanese dubbing better, it has something that at least for me makes it more enjoyable.
Since this is not saying that the other dubbings are bad, but I feel that in Japanese they are a little better, (because I personally only liked 3 songs and I don't like them, they don't talk about Bruno...

If they say it fast its usually not a problem
Is easier to a Japanese pronounce well the Spanish, more than an American

@@drew5564 it just feels authentic and respectful to the culture that the movie is about. As a Hispanic it keeps me pretty happy
Ja nee
Because it's their nationality in the film
@@drew5564 because this movie is about colombian culture and other latin countries. Keeping some of the words are another form of representation for them
And representation is REALLY important
This is literally katakana though... They're singing it like マドリガール. Japanese phonetics are just similar to Colombian pronunciations
True. It helps that the pronunciation in the languages sound so similar. Like how every kana ends with a vowel.
@@rainespells1273 dont forget ン/ん !
I think they did really well with the names in the songs. Especially Bruno!

×2 literal mente siempre me gustó los dub de Japón les queda re bien 👌
Kinda surpirse that they call Alma 'Oba-chan' instead of 'Oba-san', since they seems to really respect her, to the point to almost 'fear' her
Well in a family as "tight-knitted" as the madrigals, obaa-chan would've probably been used.
But a grandchild doesn’t talk to their grandmother “Hey grandmother how are you feeling today?” Instead you usually say “hey, grandma how are you feeling today?”
Same goes to Oba-san. Family members don’t call their grandmothers Oba-san.
@@pastellla-ri8471 I think that's more for American english
I kinda wished they would've kept 'abuela' instead I feel it wouldve give more exposure to the culture but that doesn't make this dub version bad.

Hearing the little kids in this just reminds me how cute anime babies are
@Aisha's edits. why?
Mirabel's japanese voice is so cute! ♡
the singing voice for the japanese dub is so stellar!!!! you could clearly hear the difference with the english voice -- i love stephanie beatriz but upon hearing this, i kinda wish they went with someone who has a singing background... it's so much more magical!!!!
Stephanie Beatriz was in the film version of In The Heights and she sings pretty well tho.
her voice is so AMAZING
The "Okay okay okay, sOOO MANY KIDS in our house, so let's turn the sound up!!" Part is so good in Japanese 👌👌😔😔😔
I love the fact that Mirabel has such a deep voice in the Japanese version. Because of stupid stereotypes people seem to think that Japanese girls all have very high-pitched voice like some “cute little girls”. That’s so annoying.

The home of the Family Madrigal (we're on our way)
Where all the people are fantastical and magical
I'm part of the Family Madrigal
Oh my gosh, it's them!
What are the gifts? (I can't remember all the gifts!)
But I don't know who is who!
Alright, alright, relax!
It is physically impossible to relax!
Tell us everything! What are your powers?
Just tell us what everyone can do!
And that's why coffee's for grown-ups!
My tía Pepa
Her mood affects the weather
When she's unhappy
Well, the temperature gets weird
My tío Bruno
We don't talk about Bruno!
They say he saw the future, one day he disappeared
Oh! And that's my mom Julieta, here's her deal, whoa
The truth is, she can heal you with a meal, whoa
Her recipes are remedies for real
If you're impressed, imagine how I feel, Mom!
Welcome to the Family Madrigal
The home of the Family Madrigal
(Hey, coming through!)
I know it sounds a bit fantastical and magical
But I'm part of the Family Madrigal
Two guys fell in love with Family Madrigal
And now they're part of the Family Madrigal
So yeah, Tío Félix married Pepa
And my dad married Julieta
That's how Abuela became an Abuela Madrigal
(let's go, let's go!)
We swear to always
Help those around us
And earn the miracle
That somehow found us
The town keeps growing
The world keeps turning
But work and dedication will keep the miracle burning
And each new generation must keep the miracle burning
Wait, who's a sister and who's a cousin?
There's so many people
How do you keep them all straight?
Okay, okay, okay, okay
So many kids in our house
So, let's turn the sound up, you know why?
I think it's time for a grandkid round up
(Grandkid round up)
Cousin Dolores can hear a pin drop
Camilo shapeshifts
Antonio gets his gift today
My older sisters
Isabela and Luisa
One strong, one graceful
Perfect in every way
Grows a flower, the town goes wild
(Isabela)
She's a perfect golden child
(Luisa! Luisa! Luisa! Luisa!)
And Luisa's super strong
The beauty and the brawn do no wrong
That's life in the Family Madrigal (whoa)
Now you know the Family Madrigal (whoa)
Where all the people are fantastical and magical (whoa)
That's who we are in the Family Madrigal, adios!
Ooh (but what's your gift?)
Ha!
Well, I gotta go, the life of a Madrigal (whoa)
But now you all know the Family Madrigal (whoa)
I never meant this to get autobiographical (whoa)
So just to review the Family Madrigal
Let's go!
It starts with Abuela
And then Tía Pepa, she handles the weather (but what about Mirabel?)
My mom Julieta can make you feel better with just one arepa (but what about Mirabel?)
My dad Agustín, well
He's accident-prone but he means well (but what about Mirabel?)
Hey, you said you wanna know what everyone does
I got sisters and cousins and (Mirabel!)
My primo Camilo won't stop until he makes you smile today (Mirabel!)
My cousin Dolores can hear this whole chorus a mile away (Mirabel!)
Look, it's Mister Mariano, hey
You can marry my sister if you wanna but (Mirabel!)
Between you and me, she's kind of a prima donna
Yo, I've said too much and thank you but I really gotta go (Mirabel!)
My family's amazing (Mirabel!)
And I'm in my family, so (Mirabel!)
Well
Mirabel!

DISCLAMER: I didn't write this, I c & p
The “Ha!”
the way she says "adios" in this sounds so weird because it sounds so much like an American saying it lol
like, distinctly different than the way it's said in the English/Spanish versions
