People need to realize that shotguns are SO effective that video games nerfed their effective range/spread of shot so they weren't too OP versus everything else. I manage a gun store and I can't tell you how many people think shotguns are pointless after 10 yards!
Another reason why shotguns are popular in law enforcment is the issue of overpenetration. It doesn't really come up much in Ron but I do think it's modeled. Essentially buckshot will mess up a person real bad and even with body armor at least will throw them off (plus lotsa pellets mean some may hit unarmored parts). Weird question. Can someone explain to me how extra ammo works with the shotgun? As in, if I bring four extra ammo rounds in the loadout screen, does it mean: A. I shoot my initial 8 rounds out of my M4 and then there are 4 extra rounds to load. Bringing my total to 12 (8 initial + 4 reloads) possible rounds for the map...or B. I shoot my initial 8 rounds out of my M4 and then there are 4 extra full reloads of 8 each. Bringing my total to 40 (8 initial + 32 reloads) possible rounds for the map?
The extra ammo works like B, if I remember. I always carry like 6 extra mags of shotgun, and I remember that I had like 48 shells on my Beretta 1301 in that game, so I'm guessing its B.
Shotguns were especially popular (but still are, out of familiarity and the fact that departments already own them) with police because they were widely available and cheap. Most of the widely available long arms back then were for hunting, ie bolt action rifles or shotguns.
Shotguns are still extremely affordable for the level of reliability they offer. After handguns and tasers, a frugal police department's next purchase in firearms would be some Maverick 88's or Stevens 320 if they can't receive any hand-me-downs, two of these costing less than a single one of the most affordable handgun you would have the decency to equip your officers with and with an expected lifetime of about twice as much.
Out of topic but I hope they give more retro guns. I’m trying to use 1980’s and 1990’s SAS loadouts for example. It would be cool we had the browning high power the old railess fn fal, and the c7/c8 rifle, I also wish we had way more shotguns other rifles variant like the cz Bren 2 and polish guns.
Not gonna lie, half the reason I’m going to get Ready or Not is because the 1301 (my irl home defense shotgun) is in the game. Kinda wish it had the Magpul SGA on it though.
Cheers for an updated video with the newer shottys mate. When I'm too drunk to burst fire, I choose a shotty hah!! Are you running a gore mod or something? My game looks different, though Australian laws are stingy with gore in games, so it could be that.
My only problem with the 1301 and Supernova is the reload speed and animation. I just prefer more of the violin technique like the Benelli M4 and 870MS because one its really new into the game (Though I feel that MW19 did it first) and irl its really comfortable to handle when loading than the traditional.
If my SWAT 4 experience is any indicator I get the feeling the beanbag shotgun is also going to end up in S-tier. Or even beyond S tier if you're playing for max points considering it's the only real option in that environment.
Yeah the bean bag gun is still beyond good in Ready or Not. To get the S rank at the end of a level you need to go completely non-lethal and a beanbag gun + tear gas grenades and flash bangs are usually what you need to do that
Honestly I liked pepper ball better in Swat 4 but beanbag seems easier to complete with in Ready or Not. Pepper ball can take too long to activate sometimes with the John wick suspects. However equipping most of your squad with beanbags will leave lots of suspects dead. In conclusion, I’d say beanbag is best weapon to use since you can prefire making it somewhat easier than using lethal in lots of situations. S rank indeed
"Pistols put holes in people. Rifles put holes through people. I really don’t understand why the game won’t let you equip an IR laser on any of your shotguns (or just m1014 since it’s the only one I use). Can the enemy AI even use visible lasers as intel on your location?
Shotguns were initially chosen because they're generally simple, durable and cheap. Not to mention how many possible candidates/trainees might have experience with them being farm kids or hunting. Just the most logical choice early on at least.
My firearms instructor called shotguns the Great Communicator. He said he didn't need to be multilingual during search warrants because everyone speaks Shotgunese. Said the same thing when he was testifying once. Lol
Though in reallity slugshots may not be so ineffective against armor. It may not penetrate, but it would definitelly would leave some scars on the impact since the energy is going through. xD

That intro....

Retro guns are max drip
No matter the distance a shotgun will make the suspects head disappear in RoN, without even using slugs. I find it really amusing
If they ever add a KSG 12 to the game I'd die happy
You can load one tube with buckshot and load another tube with slug. Very convenience.
I knew what that intro was gonna reference

This is where I would put the SPAS-12! If they still manufactured it. (It would be great in RoN)
"I love shotguns" same brother, same
Not gonna lie, half the reason I’m going to get Ready or Not is because the 1301 (my irl home defense shotgun) is in the game. Kinda wish it had the Magpul SGA on it though.
there are a ton of mods for the game maybe u can find it.
Yeah, its' a real shame they went with the Mesa Tactical stock instead. the SGA is just so damn good on shotguns that can take it.
"This shotgun does very little damage and is generally pretty useless. S Tier."
That's funny.
Cheers for an updated video with the newer shottys mate.
When I'm too drunk to burst fire, I choose a shotty hah!!
Are you running a gore mod or something?
My game looks different, though Australian laws are stingy with gore in games, so it could be that.
Now this is a tier list that I can agree with
As shotgun addict i agree with this even if ive never played the game
Now every time I think of Italians I’ll think of how many shotguns they made
I wish they had the A5 in the game. As I own one IRL, I'd really like to use it in this game as well.
This is the best Tier-video I’ve ever seen.!
My only problem with the 1301 and Supernova is the reload speed and animation. I just prefer more of the violin technique like the Benelli M4 and 870MS because one its really new into the game (Though I feel that MW19 did it first) and irl its really comfortable to handle when loading than the traditional.
I like the violin method in real life too
If my SWAT 4 experience is any indicator I get the feeling the beanbag shotgun is also going to end up in S-tier.
@@The-Real-Yakub
I bring a pepper ball, gas and taser
You are missing Saiga-12 shootgun (9:57) it's hidden for players but it's easy to unlock it
Incredible video extremly accurate ratings
I’ve noticed a bug with slugs and the entryman
"Pistols put holes in people. Rifles put holes through people. Shotguns, at the right range, with the right load, will *physically remove* a chunk of shit from your opponent and throw that shit on the floor, and you will have to get someone to come in and clean that shit up with a shovel." -Clint Smith, Thunder Ranch.
I really don’t understand why the game won’t let you equip an IR laser on any of your shotguns (or just m1014 since it’s the only one I use). Can the enemy AI even use visible lasers as intel on your location?
Have heard conflicting things. In my experience, they don't seem to notice vis lasers.
These are the best videos thank you
Shotguns were initially chosen because they're generally simple, durable and cheap. Not to mention how many possible candidates/trainees might have experience with them being farm kids or hunting. Just the most logical choice early on at least.
"true shotguniers,pump"
My firearms instructor called shotguns the Great Communicator. He said he didn't need to be multilingual during search warrants because everyone speaks Shotgunese. Said the same thing when he was testifying once. Lol
Kinda wish some of the shotguns didn't have pistol grips, just some more visual variation. But I love them all none the less.
Though in reallity slugshots may not be so ineffective against armor. It may not penetrate, but it would definitelly would leave some scars on the impact since the energy is going through. xD
