I am so excited to finally see this truck in person. I think Chevy did an incredible job with the truck and definitely think that its going to be a top contender in the midsize pickup market. The only downside I can see is that steep price tag! Comment below if you guys would pick this truck up or is it pass?

I love the mid-sized trucks that are coming out but I am really surprised on all of them that the gas mileage is not better. WTH?
It really is surprising! Only thing I can imagine is that between weight, all terrain tires and design elements in the body, it’s a recipe for poor gas mileage
ZR2 is a better trade off for mpg's and offroad capability.
I had the 2.0L 4 cylinder turbo Jeep Wrangler and I could not get better than 16 mi per gallon highway. My new 2023 trail Boss LT gets an average of 18 to 20 mi per gallon highway. And that's an 8 cylinder 5.3L. I'm hearing these Colorados are not doing well in the MPG department either. I thought these 4cyl engines were becoming commonplace because they supposedly offer better mileage.

I love my ZR2 Desert boss
The 2.7 is the only engine in the new Colorado and Canyon. Comes in different outputs. The engine is not new, it has been offered for a couple years in the Silverado and the Sierra.

I get 23 mpg with my full size gmc and a smooth 10 speed tranny. Cool looking truck but it will blow up at 60k and the 8 speed is junk.

I think I 62k I’ll get used raptor to be honest . It looks cool though or Ranger raptor . 10k extra I’m not seeing it get zr2 instead
Fantastic review, Frank! I absolutely love this truck and feel this and the all-new Tacoma are the best pickup designs, ever, and the ones to beat, with the Canyon AT4 and the coming Alpha Wolf a close second. I can't wait to see what Chevy might do with an EV version of the Colorado, down the road. If it looks this good, it could be my next vehicle! One thing I would have pointed out is the strange choice they made, to take out the rear bumper steps, on either side. I can't fathom why they'd take those away and put flush caps on instead. So, let me get this straight...I'm paying over $65K for a mid-size pickup truck that has everything, and you're taking away one of the most convenient, utilitarian and unique advantages GM has over the competition? Why?! Stupid.

It doesn’t make the ground clearance any less either on the back end of the truck so no idea! Funny enough the lower trim models have it but not the ZR2

There are about 10 sensors and a Check Engine light just waaaaaaaaiting to shake hands and start glowing that little engine icon 😂😂😂 GM- Check Engine Light Champions of the World!!!

The 2.7 turbo four is not a brand new powerplant. It's been available for a few years now in the full size Silverado, since 2019, and has had a very good reliability history. It's an excellent choice for the Colorado/Canyon.
Thanks for the insight! I know the V8’s have been known to have lifter issues but I honestly am so curious what a V8 would be like in both the Colorado/canyon. I don’t think that would ever happen tho

3 things to look for. Parasitic battery drain, rear camera and in dash screen.

i dont mind the whole 4cyl cause its better mileage but at the same time id have at least expected with the trail boss and ZR2 desert boss packages to have a V6 pushing 450+

The only thing I like about my LT over the ZR2 is the steps in the rear bumper. Also want to get the sport bar for the bed.
I definitely like having the rear step in the rear bumper!

I am a big Toyota guy, but I think the Chevy Colorado is the best-looking Chevy on the market.

Definitely agree! It’s a lot of extra cost for some cool stuff but in reality how often are you going to be using it. I personally think I would get a ZR2 for the lift kit and wheels and keep it at that

Did you order it or did you get it off a lot? If you ordered it when did you? I ordered mine back in May and the build date isn't until the week of 10-30-2023.
I haven't ordered one! This one just came onto the lot that the dealer had ordered. They did place an order for one in June that i saw and the expected build date was supposed to start around now but not sure if it is going to be delayed at all. Im honestly waiting to see some owner reviews first after these trucks start gaining mileage and also want to see if the prices change at all because I'm still thoroughly enjoying my 2021 ZR2!
How come there aren’t any steps for the back? I ordered a desert boss with the side steps and I hope they come with all 4 steps and not just 2.
I’m going to ask the dealership why this one in particular had 2, not sure since the option for side steps shows the truck with front and rear steps
They are removeable, they might be someplace and just not on at the moment.@@franksaladino

Sucks they dropped the Xtra cab long bed configuration. I dont want an SUV with a shoebox on the back.
Can't even haul a straight shaft weed eater inside the bed. Seems like they will lose a lot of fleet sales with no long bed option.
I thought it would be an actual owner. I think they only exist on showroom floors and professional reviewer videos. I'll believe they exist when i see one actually on the road with an actual customer.
Not a huge fan of the Desert Boss edition, but this looks great. The ZR2 looks great in any color, but this black is off the charts! I'm hoping to get a Bison in the not too distant future.
The 2024 bison is coming out in the early 2024 ,between $50,000/$60,000

How long did it take to arrive from the day you ordered it? Debating on ordering one, but not sure about this strike.
From what I heard, the strike is definitely going to slow it down. This truck took about 5 months but the dealer placed an order a few months ago for another truck and it still has not even started with the build and won’t until the end of October
The order time should pick up, they didn't even start production of the ZR2 until late in the year.
I hope they put the engine from the Escalade V to fight the TRX & Raptor R

has anyone figured out why they screwed up the back seat area... on the older colorado the back seat folded down to make a self allowing space for things you carry... like things you don't want to put into the back of the truck when its raining as an example.... now you have to use the seat as a shelf that isn't a shelf... dumb move cheby

The D Boss probably needs more power for the 35" tires, ZR2 has 33" so not as critical.
430 tq is more than adequate for 35's. Jc Tacoma's have 265tq and they run 33's.
It has exactly the same tire and wheel size as the standard ZR2
The regular ZR2 has the same exact tire and size just the rim is different!!
They should of kept the v6 and add a turbo. Instead of switching to a 4 cylinder

High output and 4 cylinder do not belong in the same sentence. Ford Ranger Raptor is bringing it with a twin turbo V6. This ZR2 just lost my attention. No thanks.
I like the truck but these manufacturers kill me. You’re paying $10k for the desert boss and they can’t color coordinate the gold on the beadlocks with the flowtie, ZR2 badge and the tow hooks? Come on. Give me gold tow hooks, gold emblem accents and a gold flowtie to tie it all together so we don’t have to paint them or go aftermarket 😒
I definitely wish they gave the consumer more customization features from the factory especially if you’re getting a top trim model!!

Great looking truck. However, I wouldnt touch one at all. Chevy 5 years later will be a maintenance nightmare, even electrical problems with screens soon after purchase. Go toyota and save yourself from lack luster engineering
I did see from a large UA-cam channel that the new Colorado had some electrical issues with the screens already. I love my 21 but time Will definitely tell on the quality! Toyota will always be top tier with durability hahahaha but I do love my Chevy!
So my 2016 Silverado has never had screen problems or any other problems. I got it new and still have it. My 2022 Silverado has also not had any problems either
Toyota is also going the same route with smaller twin turbo engines

The older V6 is better engine, turbos and superchargers mean more mechanical equipment more mechanical failures coming from mechanic here.

they messed that truck up.... they took away the step on the rear bumper... how do you get into the bed of the truck... they took away the rear seat shelf... so now you can't put items on the backseat shelf if you need the shelf ... the big holes under the headlamps are a great bug catcher... discount tire told me they won't touch a bead lock wheel..so good luck with that if you get a flat.. the truck is high enough that it should come stock with the side steps or you can crawl into the seat and slide out of the truck... the seat bolsters will be toast after awhile.. the price is out of touch unless you don't mind a truck payment larger than your house payment.. the wheel fender flares look like they were cut out with an exacto knife and could fall off any time you take it to the car wash... any questions ???
It’s sad the Chevy copied the Toyota Tacoma. The front looks like the Tacoma lights ,grill, skid plate etc. then the body looks like a wanna be ford raptor. Like Really and for that price $62,000 is outrageous. You rather just get a Silverado 1500 … 5.8 v8 for that price more room better options.
