13:14 The "part" is actually instructions and an authorization code that GM prints out and mails to the dealer, the dealer then has to talk the GM Tech Line with the auth code in order to download the tune to their scan tool so they can flash your computer. It's a bit convoluted, but that's how GM is doing it.
Also, the instructions with the auth code say multiple times that the customer IS NOT TO BE CHARGED LABOR to install the tune. If your dealer tries to charge you labor to install the tune then ask to see the instructions with the auth code so you can point out to them where it says not to charge the customer and instead use a specific labor op code so GM will reimburse the dealer for the labor.

Sounds and looks like a great truck, but I'd probably wait for the mid-cycle refresh in a couple of years, as the bugs will be worked out by then and you'll get a couple of extra features, along with a few design updates as well. Plus, they'll negotiate more on the price once the vehicle has been around for a few years. If you own that 1st couple of years of production, you are opening yourself up to a lot of headaches. Let others deal with the migraines I say. Vehicles are meant to be used and enjoyed, not cursed.

Your continual reviews & relaying real life conditions & info on the Colorado’s quirks for this truck are extremely helpful as I’m in market for the Colorado or the upcoming Tacoma. The concern/pain point Issue in my decision is that we tow a travel trailer 4800 lbs empty, probably 6.000 lbs loaded, (currently with my 17 Colorado Duramax, up hill a little week, exhaust brake capability downhill is superb) I like a midsize over full size for everyday use although full size more sense for the towing.
The Trail Boss fits for the most part but the things missing that GM did not offer as options is absurd, as you point out it seems for $1000 or so more they could offer features not available . I love the ZR- in many ways but towing is reduced.
I have a bit more confidence in the Tacoma (had a 13 never has ANY issue other than weak towing). My Colorado had some issues specifically with engine totally shutting down while driving a scary experience within first 5,000 miles that after 3 trips to dealer resolved & has not occurred since with my current mileage of 51K but was frustrating as hell.
The new Tacoma rated at 6500 towing thus my concern a bit close to max on what I tow. As strong & reliable as Toyota’s tend to be perhaps I would be ok? Seems unclear when the Tacoma will be available, a dealer advised me the still had over 125 incoming current models arriving.
I’m in Colorado as well so our towing is much at high elevation that effects towing capabilities.
    Tough decision.

This is very interesting to me Andre. Have been wondering how this Colorado would perform. This summer I towed my 25' travel trailer in and around the Mountains with my 2022 full size ZR2 with the 6.2 engine and got similar MPG to your Colorado when you are towing. My trailer is an older 2007 model and far from aerodynamic in the front. I use a Reese equalizer hitch with 1,000 lbs tow bars. I scaled the truck and trailer at a scale near us just after departing and it weighed 14,890 lbs combined. After filling it up with gas it would be very close to the max 15,000 lbs GCWR of the truck. Here in Southern Alberta Canada we drive in similar terrain and elevations that you do in Colorado. Part of the drive on that camping trip involved slow going off road trail towing in low range using the lockers at times and the truck didn't disappoint. The DSSV shocks in the truck are fantastic on and off road and the truck has plenty of power to do the job.
The full size Silverado ZR2 videos you did back when TFL owned one influenced me to buy the truck. Mine is also sand dune metallic in color and it always looks clean even when I don't wash it for a month. Have almost 20,000 kms on it now and am very happy with it so far. Did a recent 2500 km trip with it not towing and it got great fuel economy. I often see fuel economy in the 11-12 litres per 100 km range (19.5 to 21.5 MPG) on the highway and the best on that trip was 9.8 over a 40 km stretch which translates to around 24 MPG. I have been considering getting the Colorado or maybe a diesel version of the ZR2 but after watching a few videos I think for now I will keep what I have. Best part about my 2022 Silverado ZR2 has to be the excellent ride quality the Multimatic DSSV shocks provide along with the performance of the 6.2 engine and 10 speed transmission. Roman's comment when he said "this truck goes wherever you point it" resonates in my mind at times when I am driving it.
You and TFL have come a long way Andre keep up the great work!

The black-out on the pillars looks really good, especially with that Nitro Yellow. I have the ZR2 now for about 3 weeks. Had two issues so far: 1st, the child safety switch on one of the doors was jammed in "lock" position so you couldn't get out if you were a passenger (currently fixed by dealership). 2nd, the volume control for radio stopped working. Restarting truck corrected it. Notified dealership, and there was an update for the system, and so far, it hasn't happened again. One nit pick I have with truck is that the fuel door doesn't lock. And since it is cap-less, anyone can easily siphon fuel out. Loving the truck tho.

Hello Andre’ once again my friend a fantastic video. I own a 2019 Colorado CCSB 4x4 WT, I had added Bilstein 5100’s all around and leveled out with 2” front lift. I used to own a Grey Wolf 24 JS, that weighted about 5,600 lbs, certified at 10,250 lbs. CGVW on a Cat Scale. The lifetime average for the truck now at 44,000 miles is 18 mpg average. That’s mostly around central Florida with my 240 lbs scooter in the bed. The average I used to get with that trailer was 10.6 mpg, while easily maintaining the speed limits on all grades. All along the east coast inland to Pigeon Forge, TN in The Smokey Mountains.

Mechanically I love my 23 Colorado. Did the online build and ordered it with more options than yours as well as the engine upgrade to 430 ftlb of torque. After 2K miles had a software glitch and the radio screen went out, and almost everything is controlled through that screen. Took it to dealer and 3-1/2 weeks later still no part available. Chevy actually offered to do a buy back because they had no idea when the part would be available. The tech dept. at GM finally sent software to fix the glitch so I got it back but it still has small glitches now and then. Other than that and the serious lack of storage inside it is fun to drive and runs great.

Its a nice truck Andre! Love the wrap. Its a big improvement from the basic spec 2011 that I drove a while back. It was a very solid and capable truck but unfortunately yours seems to have two of the same issue that I had with the 2011. The backup camera, and the display would fritz out occasionally, sometimes the backup camera would just stay on while driving - that was always fun. I had to pull the fuse every once in a while and reset them. Hopefully GM fixed the other annoying issue I had with the EBCM that you fortunately havent experienced yet. The EBCM had a design flaw, it was mounted to the side of the frame rail on the driver side with the brake lines bent in such a way that they drained water down into the EBCM every time it rained resulting in the dash lighting up like a Christmas tree. Dealer said the solution was to pack it with dielectric grease, frequently. I tried to file a request with GM as it was really a safety issue as it disabled the ABS and traction control (when you need it most) but they just ignored me. I spent many days under my truck with the wife's hairdryer, drying it out. I finally got so fed up with the electrical gremlins that I wrapped the EBCM in a trash bag and electrical tape and traded it in at 45k miles. I am hoping they fixed it on the new model. Just a heads-up... don't go to deep when you launch your boat! Good Luck - keep up the great videos!

I also had the loose fuse issue that is easily corrected and the right side windshield trim piece that doesn't fit properly. For towing range and mpgs and rear passenger comfort half tons are better right? . Especially ford with 36 gallon tank option and HDPP. NOTHING cones close to it for hauling a load. Mid-size towing will always sacrifice range, unfortunately, which is why full size is more appropriate for more frequent towing as you mention. What I’m surprised by is the terrible mixed mileage at 20mpg, especially if you’re chucking 91 octane premium into that “affordable” truck! I have a similar mix of driving/towing/light off-roading in an old, worn out Gen 1 V6 Honda Ridgeline and get pretty much that same mileage. What’s the advantage to these turbo’d 4’s if they aren’t giving better fuel economy at the end of the day?

Didn’t notice the blackout treatment. Using premium fuel in your truck which only requires 87 is just a waste of money. It’s been proven for years. Enjoy your truck.

My Malibu with 1.5T engine that literally melted a piston at 80k miles, most likely with this being a contributing factor, would like to beg to differ with this statement.

Most manufactures list in the owners manual the added performance that can be obtained running premium fuel especially while towing a heavy trailer, HD trucks are built with heavy cast iron blocks & components for durability because they know most folks will be burning the cheaper gasoline!

@@martyi398 HD trucks are usually naturally aspirated gasoline engines or generally heavy-duty diesel engines. Neither of which have issues with pre-detonation, which is definitely not the case with turbocharged engines. Even with advanced ECUs of today, crappy gas can eventually rear its ugly head. Even if the ECU lets a small amount of pre-detonation occur, it could be enough to ruin the engine.

I have a 2018 Colorado ZR2 with 50K miles. It has the 3.6 V6 engine and 8 speed. I have not had any issues with the power train. The transmission was flushed and refilled under warranty and has worked fine for me. I find the gas mileage differences between your 2.7 turbo 4 and my V6 interesting. I get 18.5 mpg combined city, highway, whatever. The best mpg I have seen for highway trips that are mostly flat is 21 to 22. So, the two engines have the same peak horsepower output, the 2.7 turbo makes roughly 100 lb. ft. more torque. It would be interesting to see how the two engines feel under various conditions, for example passing on two lane roads when you need more top end pull and responsiveness when low speed off roading. Thanks for sharing your experiences with your new Colorado.

Yeah, I can't believe G.M. is ending the 3.6 just when they perfected it and made it a long lasting reliable engine....figures..

With the performance upgrade accessory it is just programming. Your dealer needs to call technical assistance and they will add the update to the Vin then the dealer needs to reprogram the engine control module. I work at a chevy store and I've had to do it.

$41,000.00 for such an awesome truck!? We can only dream of that in Germany.

16:45 would you buy this same
truck again? Would you save a bit longer to get something else? Was the $41,000 OTD?

I have a 2022 updated SIERRA. happy with the truck but compared to my 2014 sierra its missing a few things: no 12v plug, no coin storage on the bottom dash, no light up vanity mirrors, no oh shit handles but does have the ones on the pillars, no trailer brake. Mind you, my old one was a SLE and this one an elevation that had an MSRP of 58k but only paid 54k.

I got the basic 2023 work edition Colorado with 2.7 plus engine. 19k miles in 6 months and runs like a champ and can tow any car without issues.
