I just found my New Best Friend.😭😊 I have not been able to figure it out, and Being a Culinary graduate home chef and find out I'm type II diabetic hurts because I had plans on starting a baking business and now I dont know what to do with no income. It's not feasible for me to do sweets bakery right. Cause I have to test my food, so What can i do now? I'm glad that I found this channel though. thank you so much. I'll be binge watching
You are amazing! So excited to connect with you. What about a bakery that offers lower carb/lower sugar options along with traditional sweets? I bet that would be a huge hit! I know by me there would be a mad rush to buy from you!
@@HealthyMomHappyFamily I agree. I'm type 2 and would love to be able to buy low-sugar desserts that aren't made with artificial sweeteners, but natural ones. You could offer samples, or sell a sample plate. Find a spot between a gym and a natural foods store, and I think you'll have a popular business!
thanks!! My bf is type 1, and he told me he’s always wanted someone to try to make him sugar free cookies, plus I want to be a proactive gf and learn about diabetes as much as I can, even though he told me not to worry about it. Also my dad and my sister are boardline and have a huge sweet tooth so maybe this’ll help them too!
I have another rule to add to those three; I NEVER eat anything sweet on an empty stomach. I can have small portions of sweet things if I have protein and some fat in my belly. This helps me manage my blood sugar level much better.
Same here. My family, if they had to, could eat ice cream or bowl of cereal for a meal and not be hungry for hours. If I have a bowl of cereal on an empty stomach, or any sugar at all, I am starving the rest of the day!
This was amazing I found out I was diabetic recently and I changed my eating habits but I love brownies she what I heard gave me a few ideas so thank you
Thank you very much for your video. I recently found out I have pre-diabetes so this information very helpful because I love deserts, especially chocolate.
@@HealthyMomHappyFamily I forgot to mention I am going on a Hawaii Cruise in a couple of months and it is good to know I can still have deserts in moderation plus I love the idea of walking around after having desert instead of sitting around.
I am a Type 2 diabetic on no medication. FBS and A1C 87 and 4.5. Some will get a lot from these suggestions but I will stick to what I am doing which is to avoid this stuff. There are some delicious things that can be made with almond and coconut flours and monk fruit. Just have to test out things and see how they affect your blood sugar.
Yes you need to always do what works best for you as an individual. If you havent seen it, many of my recipes do use monk fruit and almond flour as well :)
Hi. I am type 2, and find it hard to get sugars down. I have cut out potatoes, which was told not good f I r you. Is this so. Great videos, and learning so much. Thank you
I’m so glad I found your videos, you are helping me so much with my hubby’s diabetes, I REALLY don’t like the fake sweeteners & now I can use natural, THANK YOU SO MUCH ☺️
New favorite channel, I am addicted. I have steroid induced diabetes so when I have to take prednisone, I have to shift how I eat so drastically. This video was a life saver. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain different options. I would have never thought to swap one for one sugar for fruit puree before but I am totally going to try that =D
Honestly the GI is pretty similar and for some, agave raises sugar more. You can definitely try it and monitor how you respond. It is certainly an option, it just may not make a big difference :)
Happy to help! All links are in the video description & you can also go to my blog erinpalinski.com and search the recipe you’d like and you will find the full recipe there too. Or just let me know which you can’t find and I can comment with the direct link too :)❤
It wouldn’t it be dangerous not to mention that there are two types of diabetes, and that they each needs different things, as well as to avoid? As I would never tell someone with diabetes type 2, like my self as I was just diagnose last moth and lost 12 kg so far, which is linked to obesity, to eat whatever I want and love, but just smaller portions etc. For us you know it's all about a change in lifestyle, eat healthy, and be more active to loose weight, so that even though it will never be cured, you can become symthom free. If not for certain food allergies and intolerances, I'd go vegan/plant based.

What are your thoughts on sugar alternatives? Monkfruit, Erythritol, Maple Syrup, Date Sugar, Coconut Sugar, Stevia, etc. I have such a sweet tooth, but am insulin resistant and foods that spike my blood sugar make me feel so sick immediately after eating. I find mixing fat, protein, or other healthy additives into meals where there is sugar doesn't really help my feeling ill after consumption. I even find fruit sometimes make me feel sick.
Monkfruit, Erythritol, and stevia will have no impact on blood sugar levels however coconut sugar, maple syrup, and date sugar are all still sugars that will spike blood glucose in the same way refined sugars will so it is best to limit these in total to less than 10% of total daily calories.
Thanks so much for making this video.... Having type 2 Diabetes is not fun and hard to manage.... Excited to look at your E Book! What I am doing just recently is IF I make something calling for sugar I use Stevia..... never knew you could use the things you talked about..... My question is.... every once in a while I have to eat something sweet anythinggggggg chocolate especially I do buy some puddings because I love pudding but I end up eating too many so for me my son hides the sweets from me.. I tell him to and too He gets concerned about my diabetes .... I am very paranoid about taking my numbers .... they have spiked after eating some sweets very very high ..... and also My average for my numbers is around 8 to 10 I take metformin 4 x daily max dose.... but when I get around 6 after a fast I get very very shaky I think its because my body is so use to it being much higher? Anyway thanks so so so much! I am wanting to get my blood sugar under control more thanks for your help and I will be watching your other videos SO HAPPY I FOUND YOU AND YOUR SO SWEET
Thank you SO much. I am so happy to hear my videos are helpful to you & hopefully some of these recipes allow you to eat more of what you love without spiking your blood sugar! In regards to your blood sugar after eating sweets, I would play around with some other foods to satisfy the chocolate craving and see how you respond. Pudding can contain a large amount of added sugar (depending on the brand), whereas some people do better with dark chocolate (60-70% cacao) since it has less added sugar along with fat to slow the blood sugar response. Or even chocolate covered nuts like almonds with the combo of fat, fiber, and protein to slow the blood sugar response :)
Oh my word, I thought You were me for a second LOL Its so so hard girlfriend, and I went to school for Culinary along time ago and found out much later after buying a tiny bakery business. now I cant do it because my SUGAR is out of control, 468 and 300's. it's so stressful that I cant do those things but, it looks like There is an answer here. @@HealthyMomHappyFamily I am just seeing this thanks for the information yes having type 2 Diabetes is not fun and too I have to work with my cholesterol & blood pressure so its very very hard to do ... how can you combine Diabetes Cholesterol / Blood Pressure Diet? It limits so so much right?
@@tonyarenee531 Such a great question! Actually the same foods that are good for diabetes management (whole grains, fiber, veggies, limited refined sugar, etc) improve cholesterol as well. With blood pressure, adding more produce to the diet helps as well as increased movement and stress management too!
My cousin loves apple pie. I’ve seen some recipes that use squash, or zucchini, but I worry about the crust. He can’t exercise due to health issues. What would you recommend? Thanks 🙏
Make him a French Apple Tart. It uses only one crust, The filling is fairly thin, and you can spice it to his taste. Use at least two different types of apples for best flavor, slice them uniformly for the best texture, and use a good quality cinnamon to really brighten the flavor.
I put hemp seeds in my baked goods. Adds fiber, too. Also, I don't like the cooling effects from most sweeteners. Which ones don't have it? Also, I hate almond flour for cookies. It's like eating sand. And coconut flour is ok, but I don't want coconut flavor in everything. So is whole wheat flour ok if I do other things to modify a recipe?
I have a question about bananas. I have been avoiding them since I've read oftentimes that they are bad for diabetics. From what you say, that's not true. Please clarify. Thanks
Hi omgosh my sister has diabetes and I want to make amazing cake for her because her birthday is coming really soon on the 21 this week and is there a frosting I can make she love chocolate but I tried making homemade chocolate with out sugar but it was so hard
Sounds delicious! If you love cake, I'd love to share with you my 2gm net carb chocolate cake recipe too...SO good and you can definitely eat it more than 1x per year :) erinpalinski.com/the-best-keto-chocolate-cake-recipe/
I'd love to help! Depending on the recipe you can try a variety of swaps. With baked goods, you can replace added sugar using a 1:1 ratio with pureed fruit like prunes or banana to eliminate added sugar and increase fiber. You can also replace white flour with a whole grain such as whole wheat pastry flour or oat flour. If you swap out white flour for almond flour or coconut flour, these absorb more water so you may need to adjust the levels of the liquid ingredients in the recipe.
Yes- very different in that type 1 is caused by the beta cells in the pancreas failing to produce insulin, so external insulin is needed. Type 2 is typically used by insulin resistance developing over time which causes blood sugar to rise steadily and can often be managed with lifestyle and/or medications, whereas type 1 must be managed with insulin
