Hello Doctor. I found out that I was pre-diabetic in 2020. I am also a natural ectomorph. I was about 160 back in 2020. I started eating less carbs since the news, but now I look weak and sick because i lost more weight. I still excercise, but I'm 6 feet and 140 pounds now. I look like a stick. How can I gain weight again on your suggested diet ? It seems impossible putting on weight without carbs and only eating once or twice a day. I really want to get up to 175-180 pounds.
Society doesn't really care or thinks about what an ectomorph has to go through because they are so focused on obesity. When a 350 pound pre or diabetic obese person goes on a healthy diet plan, and loses weight and goes down to 200 pounds that person still looks good and healthy, but when a skinny pre or diabetic ectomorph goes on a healthy diet and loses weight as a result of that diet, the person looks emaciated and sick. Right now, my ribs are showing and the bone below my neck is showing because I'm trying to eat healthier and cut off the carbs. It's frustrating being a pre-diabetic ectomorph.
Got diagnosed with diabetes, shock of my life, lost 50 lbs with WW, changed my eating 100 percent and walk 3 times a day. Off my meds 8 months after the first diagnosis. It can b done. I am a 58 F
I quit all grains, sugars and most processed foods (except tomato sauce and plain sugar free greek yogurt) back in Oct 2022. Inflammation in my body was literally killing me and I could barely walk some days. It is March and I've reduced most of the Inflammation and daily pain and also during the process I have lost 25 lbs. ☺ My goal is to loose another 28 lbs. Wish me luck.
How did you do that? I would love to hear your experience. I have fibromyalgia, severe inflammation and chronic pain/fatigue . I can barely walk. Simple tasks such as washing my hair or dressing myself is painful. I go to work come home sleep, repeat! I feel like I’m dying. 5’4” and weigh about 174. @54 yrs old. Totally unable to exercise because of fibromyalgia. Unable to follow diet plans because of the disabling effects of Fibromyalgia! I am unable to prepare any food most of the time. So I eat what I can. I was fit but got fibromyalgia a decade ago and I just went downhill. And feel hopeless! I have insulin resistance or probably diabetic (no insurance for doctor or testing) I’m so depressed I’m considering leaving my job because I can’t function anymore and hanging on by a thread! I’m a mess and feel like I’m one step away from dying from a heart attack or stroke. Sorry for the long rant!
@@TangoKiloAlpha54 Hi, I don't know what kind of job you have but, if you can go to work and function a little bit then you can prepare your meals. Firstly, throw out all of the boxed or bagged food items in your pantry. They most probably are filled with stuff that you have no business eating in your condition. Even some seasonings have sugar and unnecessary chemicals in them. Use fresh food and spices if you can. Frozen vegetables are great also. Start drinking Alkaline or Spring water. Stop eating sugars, grains, root vegetables and seed oils. Remember, all grains turn into sugar in your body. This means that your diet will be somewhat limited but still delicious and you will have to prepare food at home because, almost everything in the streets is bad for you. When I first started I would go to the Mexican market in my neighborhood and buy a rotisserie chicken, a pint of refried beans, a pint of guacamole, some various deep green lettuces, avocados, balsamic vinegar, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, havarti cheese, free range chicken eggs and plain whole milk yogurt. With this stuff I made salads or ate the chicken with the other items. The yogurt was for my first meal of the day which consisted of 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon and yogurt with berries cut up in it. I cook with butter or olive oil (no deep frying). I only drink water and coffee or tea. I do use monkfruit sweetner, alulose and equal but, I'm cutting back on equal because I think it makes my heart race. Listen to your body when it speaks. For snacks I eat an avocado or nuts. I make a personal mix of macadamia, pistachios, walnuts, pecans and pine nuts because those taste the best to me. Sometimes I throw some sugar free chocolate chips in the mix 😋 I'll be honest, I do eat onions in my food (it's a root vegetable). Food just ain't the same without onions but, you can substitute leeks for onions if you like. Make sure to read the ingredients listing on every package of food before you buy it. Some of them are labeled as Keto but after careful examination you will see that it isn't. Keto bread = non existant. There is no such thing. I used to feel like you. Like I was going to die every day. My heart would race at any time, I could barely walk some days, I couldn't sleep, going to urinate every hour, I was in pain 24/7 and many other maladies. Fixing all of this is my motivation. Remember, each day of bad eating is another day of pain. You literally are what you eat. Your doctors are not going to tell you these things because medical training doesn't include proper nutrition for health. Our Healthcare system is really Sickcare maintenance. I suggest that you do your own research into what foods and supplements are best for your condition. You really have to do the work and take care of you. No one else will. Start today! Good luck to you, sincerely.
I am Italian and live in Italy. My family doctor sent me to a diabetologist considering I have PCOS, insulin resistance and could not lose weight. Homa Index was 6.6. The diabetologist said, without even looking at my HOMA Index, " come back when you are diabetic". Prevention, hey? . So I went to a nutritionist and I am now steadily losing weight, low carbs (I eat pasta bread pizza or rice occasionally, maybe twice a month- remember, I am Italian :D ).
As a Type 1 diabetic for 37 years, the seconds on oranges and orange juice need clarification, learned from experience. If my blood sugar is low, a glass of orange juice can spike my sugar level by 150+ points in 20 minutes, but eating a whole, peeled orange, will not spike -- because of the fiber and "white stuff" from the peel.
Great video. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes the 1st week in 2024. I decided straight away I want to try and reverse this. So read books, changed my diet, weight trained hard, walking lots. Lost 6 inches (15cm) off my waist so far in 6 weeks. Feel much better for it. Realistically I think will take to summer to get to pre diabetic, but I’m not giving up. Learnt so much about my body and food that it’s a lifestyle change now.

Went on a keto low carb diet last June 2022 after finding out I had metabolic syndrome x . I had skin 1 dark I on my neck, a big belly, the tingling in my feet, excessive urination. My starting weight was 285,I and now down to 172 , I 'll be going back to my Dr's in June for my yearly physical. I'm curious to see what my labs look like. After fixing my diet and getting more active the above issues started going away. No more skin tags, tingling, the black patch . & My belly is getting smaller. Such a shame most drs don't break it down as this dr is doing.
@@krystalmy2000 theoretically if you get on a raw vegan diet of mostly fresh sprouts and seasonal fruits, you will stop making more ans will even shrink/shed some old ones.
I used to be overweight and very insulin resistant. It was impossible for me to lose body fat. Eventually, I followed a high fat - low carb diet and I lost 66 lbs (30 kg) in 8 months. It worked very well for me. Losing weight is incredibly easy if you know what your doing. In my opinion, best diet to reverse insulin resistance is a low carb diet.
@@mrwes100 You are right man, but people who are insulin resistant and overweight / obese don’t tolerate carbs well because they always have high blood sugar and insulin levels throughout the day. So eating carbs is not effective for them, and it is better for them to follow a high fat - low carb diet. Science also shows that high fat - low carb diets are much better for reversing insulin resistance than high carb - low fat diets. But if you are lean and don’t have insulin resistance, then I agree with you that eating the right carbs is certainly the most important thing to maintain a healthy body fat percentage and prevent insulin resistance.
I went on strict Keto and all my numbers reversed. I will admit that this is a struggle to stay clean Keto. I have put a lot of work in it and just decided to make huge lifestyle changes. I feel wonderful.
Since I choose to eat healthy, am no longer craving of sweet and junk food. It's not difficult as we think, simply take the habit to select fresh, natural and nutritious foods and cook your own meals. Give your body sometimes to appreciate the best foods Nature provided.
Took me 6 months in rehab for sugar addiction Now o can saw loud in sugar free. I don’t need I don’t miss sugars and all junk / processed foods - Life is complete diferent 😅
My Ac1 test last June was 7.1 I took myself off medication in july..and stated a very little carb diet..Excercise twice a day 7 days a week..I lost 20 kilos in weight and my ac1 was down to 5.6 in September I'm now a healthy 70 kilos in weight..I stick to sensible eating I can even got out weekends drinking light beer and it dies not affect my blood sugar
I just found out I was diabetic, this video helped a lot. I already changed my diet but I will take your advice on all the other information. Thank you

Ugh.. im a 53 yr old woman, just got diagnosed with type2… this has got to be the worst feeling ever. Been feeling depressed the past few weeks, but I snapped out of it and started doing little changes this week. I’m logging what I eat. I exercise every other day even just 30 mins. But sheeeez this is tough. So much info and not sure what to do.thanks for this video, it’s very helpful. Carbs are so confusing 🤦🏻♀️

My anxiety about diabetes and other issues caused my anxiety to shoot through the roof. I lost my appetite too. But I. Slowly getting back on track. Just taking things day by day. Thank you so much for asking❤️🩹🙏🏼 Hope you’re doing well.
My wife and I were practically bed ridden for a couple years. In that time we could do nothing but eat cereal and tv dinners. When my wife started to recover, she started gaedening 5 minutes at a time in between resting, all day every day. 2 yrs later she is planting 2 other yards in the culdasac and is growing a ton of fresh fruit and vegetables and avoiding most processed foods. And our blood numbers are perfect. It works. We feel great. She is bean crazy. Always looking for lentils ,new beans etc.
Great video. I really enjoyed it 😀 I am not a diabetic yet but I recently had a physical and my blood work was done and the doctor indicated that I am possibly at a pre-diabetic stage and I am looking into every avenue on how to get better numbers on my next physical in June and I am glad that I found your video and I have just finished looking over your website and after looking it over I am excited keep up the good work Doctor 👏 🙌 👍 Awesome. !

I am grateful to the tips you shared Doctor. @@machineinuae1987hi! The best way to reverse is to change your diet. For example, I am adopting Mediterranean diet ( occasionally eat sweet or I grab keto snacks). 30 minutes of exercise four or five times a week helps too. Sometimes exercise is ok but intermittent fasting is even better. My A1c went from 13.5 to 6.6 within 90 days. I was taking Glipizide and now I am on metformin but rarely take it because my lifestyle is changing anyway 😀
Thank you Dr Ergin for your ADVANCED GLUCOSE SUPPORT. I really reversed my diabetes. I stopped shooting insulin daily for 8 months for I developed skin rashes, very itchy. Great video, Doc! There’s a lot of content of this “flavor” out there, but this video is about the best I’ve seen, considering the information you put out and how you did it. Very well done, Sir.
This is NOT a typo, I was diagnosed with blood/sugar reading of 134, the doctors and nurses couldn't believe I was still alive and walking around. Anyway, to make a very long story short, I got off all meds within 6 months, eliminated all sugar, lost a bunch of weight and started taking supplements including Berberine and Turmeric B12, Bitter Melon & Lipoid Acid and 4 years later I'm out of the diabetes range with an AIC of 6.4 Berberine is better than Metformin and safe, unlike Metformin.
@@PrimitiveFilmGroup I have some carbs every day, not a lot though, and then once a week or once every 10days or so, I let go and eat pizza, cake, whatever I desire and then I get back to my normal routine. I get some exercise everyday, some naturally and some on a stationary bike. I also drink plenty of water throughout the day.
It’s hard to not hate vegetables. But I have found a channel in a man too hates vegetables. He refers to them as gross. What he has done is come up dishes that hide the taste of vegetables. He does weekly meal preps and is able to get in his vegetables with good tasting food.
I'm 70 years old, metformin did absolutely nothing but make me sick. I've been taking jardiance for about 2 years now. What's your thoughts on jardiance please? God bless you 🙏🏻
I went from prediabetic to normal in a few weeks mainly eating saturated fats. Love to see a high quality study that proves saturated fats are related to IR.
how long did it take? I've been low / rare carb for 1.5 years and only went from 6.1 to 5.8. I even lost 30 pounds and ppl say I almost look too thin... BMI down to 21 from 25. I did recently target some fats b/c I had no energy and also initiated some fasting the last 2 months. Will see if that helps. Congratz to you. Didn't work quickly for me like it seems to work for some here : /

My A1C went from 13.4 to 5.4 in 6 months on the Ketogenic diet with no drugs, good hdl went up, triglycerides dropped to 54 from 200, calcium score dropped. Lost 60lbs, arthritis went away after cutting out dairy including all joint pain disappeared cutting out dairy, over all im healthier now than ever
Great advice overall, but be careful! If your insulin resistance / diabetes is more advanced or more stubborn, low GI carby foods are not gonna cut it. You might have to go really low carb, and not too much protein either (cut out beans, legumes, and other high carb stuff - definitely no grapes or oranges, maybe she berries), but of course, it's best to experiment (with blood glucose monitoring) and see what works for you. Don't be disappointed if something doesn't work for you, just find something that you like that does! You got this! I'm reversing my diabetes that I've had for decades since I was 17. My A1c was 13.2 a month ago, it will be under 6 in three months from now!!
@@Evelyn925_ honestly, if it was lowered that much in a month and half, and you continued doing what you were doing, it should definitely be at least under 6.4 (assuming A1c is a three month average), but most likely much lower, as effects of low card diet compound over time (in my experience)

Great video, it cleared up so many of my questions. Thank you. I am 163cm and 55kg and live in a cold climate. I do not drink and live mainly as a vegetarian with little processed food. I have just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I know it is the fat cells on my belly. I know I am scared that they (fat cells on my belly) leave me should I freeze to death. The stress from our fast, ridiculous modern lifestyle is horrendous and when we choose an alternative life we are targeted. Insulin-resistance, in my case, does not go away for good. I do a sugar-free, low-carb, dairy-free, non-processed foods, organic, grass-fed & pastured raised diet and I do well until I eat ONE dessert and all of my progress is reversed instantaneously and I gained weight right away. One diversion off the diet and everything brings me back to square one.
I've studied off and on all the things I should be doing and usually am doing it right sigh... today I had cereal because I wanted something sweet took my sugar reading and holy cow!!! I decided even though it was late evening to go out and do mowing that I was putting off I'd guess 45 minutes came in and took my readings down over 100 points so now I know I need to mow more often even do a neighbors if mine doesn't need it and get the cereal out of the house so the temptation isn't there. I weigh 345lbs, if conservatively 35% of my weight is body fat that’s 483,000 calories which energy wise is equivalent to 1064lbs of TNT. That’s so much energy that it makes zero sense for me to be lethargic all the time. I appreciate what this Doctor is saying, but I think the best approach for me would be to start with intermittent fasting followed by a ketogenic diet which would then give way to longer periods of fasting and when I break my longer fasts it will be back to a ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting until I’ve lost enough weight to be able to function again without constant lethargy. I think that so long as I’m able to do some light weight lifting and cardio that should help prevent muscle loss.

Hi, I love your videos. I am a 52-year-old African-American women, who just recently found out that I am diabetic, I have been checking my blood sugar every morning and my blood sugar levels for the past 30. Days. For about a month now, and I am confused about weather or not I'm type one or type two.. Before meals, NLM was 259 for 2 times out of 7,285 4 times out of 14 days, and 332 6 times for 30 days. This is all before meals. Now after I eat, My Blood sugar average 301 once after 7 days and once and 14 days. However after 30 days it was 393.. When I look at my results on a whole, my NLM are 21 333 for 7 days, 49 385, for 14 days, and 93 average 382. I probably should have mentioned this in the beginning I am using the one touch ultra2 glucose meter. My question I have for you is I was told that I should not eat carrots because it acts as a sugar I. The body so I cut out carrots, I was also told not to eat yellow bannans because it act as a sugar in the body, also oa😂eal. however, these were the things I was ea😂tmg to help me stay full since I can no longer have cereal, pasta, rice and bread. I added salmon, sweet potatoes, metacimal twice a day, the one that says zero sugar. I take it before meals. I try not to eat late ate night, what do you recommend
You need to increase your protein and fat for satiety. I don't eat rice, potato, bread etc. You need above-ground vegetables (tomatoes, green leafy, healthy fat, meat/fish. No fruits except berries in moderation.
Also consider if you are having cravings for bread, pasta etc that you may be low in b vitamins. I added unfortified nutritional yeast a couple times a week to smoothies and my insane craving for bread stopped.

I sometimes order an iced tea or mineral water with some lemon chunks in it. I think that the alcohol turns into sugar. Just wonder what your opinion is on drinking alcohol, if trying to keep the diabetes, cancer, and heart disease away.
Can you explain exactly how to measure the waist? Should you measure at belly button, an inch or two higher, or something else? I have seen several different recommendations.
As a woman who has sewn with commercial patterns since the 70s anda nurse for 30 years, measure your waist at the smallest part of your trunk, where you crease when you bend from side to side. This is usually way higher than any waistband is and several inches above your belly button.
Dear Dr Ergan, I am an obese, vegetarian diabetic, although I have reduced by bloods to pre-diabetic, unfortunately blood pressure and cholestral have risen. I am worried about starting a low carb diet because of the high amount of fat. How would low carb/high fat diet affect cholesterol and blood pressure? How can I test for cholesterol and how often in UK? Thank you so much for your informative videos.
Sandra….I’m not a vegetarian but have high cholesterol even though I don’t eat much meat at all….but am type 2 diabetic. . I also are afraid of low carb high fat diet…..waiting for meds to help my sugar through the mail. I’m just learning how to help myself with food choices….does diabetes run in your family? In mine unfortunately….let’s hope we both lose some weight, I know that will help….good luck to you in our fight….🍀
My cardiologist said Mediterranean diet helps to lower cholesterol. I’m looking into it now. I have normal BP but my cholesterol is little high and my AC 1 is a 6 ( it use to be lower ). So I have to be careful with the pre diabetes issue now and cholesterol as well. I was told to pretty much cut all red meats and processed foods like bacon and sausage. No more steaks !

Prevention, hey? .
Eating the right carbs is most important, IMHO.

I am very disappointed to find myself in a negative cycle that seem to lead to my fat belly that tries to protect me from the cold, and stress.
Hy sir can you make one diet chart from breakfast to dinner please …thankyou for your help❤️❤️
Thank you for the suggestion. We will put that on our bucket list for future videos.
@@SugarMDs thank you
I agree we need a chart from breakfast to dinner
This is the best summarized video available on UA-cam for IR ! Thanks a lot Doc.

Dr. Ahmet You are good in your subject. Materials you provides are quite easy to understand and implement.

Great video again. Thanks! Would very much LIKE TO HEAR MORE about LIVER as an alternative to vegetables, some of which have too many histamines, salicylates for me.

Low carb diet is not reversing diabetes
It would be reversed if you could eat carbs like those who have no diabetes
You need to exersice, I know is Hard, but is the only way. I exersice in front of the tv, so that I don't get bore.
Dr McDougall's wholefood plant base no oil no sugar low salt diet ( starch solution)
Wow! This is exactly what happens to me if I eat 1 sweet.
I am not sure about “end” diabetes, but with small portions and no carbohydrates will help lower A1C.
You can try it for a few months and see if it works for you.
Very helpful video. Thank you Dr.
Very relevant, and so well presented, very clear. Thank you.
You're one person who has explained this in layman terms, other people explain this as if they're talking to medical professionals

Drink lemon water with a table spoonful of apple cider vinegar before your meal
You really help many❤️🙏❤️ - I live in Sweden and my healthcare have used me as an guinea pig since 2007🤔!
I can't Count how many different medications they have been giving me 🧐
One question about weight and type-2 diabetes; my father was really Skinny but he had really High blood sugar 🧐
I have been overweight but very active and have had lots of muscle s, since about 10 year I have Back injuries and lots of pain, could my High blood sugar levels depend on my Xtreme Pain?
Thanks so much Dr Ergin. Your videos helped me to lose 30# and normalize my A1c!
Good job Valerie Pagendarm ! That’s awesome! Keep it up! And keep watching and sharing our videos on social media.
Thank you! I fully enjoyed this video. The information you share is excellent.
1 thing that was missing that I saw in other videos is how important sleep is to sugar level and insulin resistance.
So I cut out coffee and my sleep is better than before.
Sleep is important for so many things. Thank you for highlighting coffee as something to consider eliminating in order to improve sleep.
THAT might be my problem. I do have serious sleep problems. I used to wake up around 2:30 and again at 4 and I got a sleep mask for my eyes and now I at least sleep til 4 a.m. and often can go right back to sleep. Hopefully that is helping. Another 2 months before I check labs.
@@grainiac7824 Remember if you cut coffee your body will have cravings for other caffeine too like chocolate, tea or diet colas.
Sleep apnea can also be a problem where you wake up without knowing it and it interrupts your REM sleep.
@@grainiac7824I was waking up every night a 4 am was getting 3 to 4 hours of sleep I didn’t figure out what was going on until Covid as my issue got worse . After Covid I was waking up at 4 am still but my heart rate was near 200 bpm . Tachycardia - still not sure what’s causing it working on that but I know if eat eat salad like I used to every day it gets bad . If I stay meat heavy it doesn’t go over 100 . I’m thinking all raw veggies and nuts make it bad but I’m in the process of testing that .

No. Chicken and rice is not a good diet for type ll diabetic. Sorry 😂
Trouble for me is that I love chicken and rice also. However, I am also type ll 😂
Dr. Ergin is for real!!! I'm so glad I found him, I believe he has extended my life by his knowledge and supplement I am taking now. Thank you for helping me!

I’m a type (2) diabetic. I did manage to get My A1C down to a 6.4 I’m watching eating.
Great video! I use a product called Slimmer Max. You drink it 30 minutes before your meals and it really helps with appetite control and to lower A1C.
That's a GREAT product! It works really well!
Thankyou so much. This has clarified many things for me.
What are your thoughts on juicing veggies? Thanks
I'm not a fan. The fiber is important.
See the video on UA-cam. Plants are trying to kill you. You will be shocked.
Exellent videos as always!! Thank you so much, May God Bless you🙏💖😇🍎

Is it okay to eat minced garlic in the jar. Is minced garlic just as good as the raw garlic?

My A1C was 5.7 and i developed acanthosis nagricans. Started walking 30 min daily. Ate one meal a day. Cut alcohol in half. No carbs. 3 months later, 20lb less. A1C 5.3. And the black under my armpit gone. Under eye darkness gone😂
That IS funny 😂
the black underarms makes me sooo insecure! it's what made me take this seriously
But 5.7 isn't that bad though or so I thought 🤔.
5.7 is pretty normal
Thank you 🎉 I have dark circles, skin tags…. I needed this for motivation
Very great info! You made it simple to understand and have great ideas on what and how to eat!!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching!
Thank you for the information. Very helpful. What's the word on alcohol? I personally don't care if I have a drink or not, but most of my friends enjoy cocktail hour, and actually can drink a few alcoholic beverages. They want me to drink with them. I sometimes order an iced tea or mineral water with some lemon chunks in it. I think that the alcohol turns into sugar. Just wonder what your opinion is on drinking alcohol, if trying to keep the diabetes, cancer, and heart disease away.
In Australia there is no longer any safe limit for alcohol whether diabetic or not.
This knowledge is straight out university textbooks. Good luck with that one.
Thank you so much for your help ❤Dr. you are the best
Very good health minded video. Thank you.
@@TheMinot60 Agree I was an employee health nurse and we did it that way
Thank you so very much for being so humanistic !
Carbs are the issue not fat. See Dr Sten Eckberg videos they are addicting
Hi, Thank you so much for your support. Yes, it is in the family. I do hope we achieve our goals.
Healthy fats and no processed meat. Aim for things like olive oil, nuts, avacado for the fats and good quality grass fed meats.
Great advice!! Thank you for this vital information
