  • How to Sculpt a Gel nail On natural Nails with IBD Video: • How to Sculpt a Gel Na...
    Finally here is the video of a simple Gel refill. I've tried to keep it as simple as possible. There are many types of ways to do a refill .. this way works the best for me... I am sure I'll show you different ways in the future.
    Also keep in mind if you have lifting that you always file right before the lift not on the lifted part,that way you don't end up filing your natural nail down.
    Many ask about the Heat spike on gels. Here is an explanation in a nutshell.
    Its called heat spike" and is an exothermic reaction. For example one ingredient that changes how a gel cures is called photoinitiators. The initiator is triggered by the activator; Ultra Violet Light Energy. Photoinitiators (PIs) are light sensitive and decompose into free radicals to start the polymerization process. PIs absorb UV light and convert it into the energy needed to drive the polymerization (curing process). In general, the more PIs there are in a formula, the faster the cure. High amounts of PIs can cause excessive exotherms which will heat up on the clients' nails (some gels have a higher level of Pls in them thus the more intense burn .) But.this is especially uncomfortable for the clients whose natural nails have been damaged by excessive filing.The thicker the gel is applied the more PIs are present in that layer and the higher the temperature of the exothermic reaction. Thinner layers of UV gel cure more thoroughly and create less heat while curing.
    The right balance between the photo initiator and UV lamp is needed to achieve the perfect balance.The intensity of UV light and the duration of the UV exposure is key. Placing the clients hand just outside the light UV lamp for 20 seconds at a time helps reduce the heat spike effect. Than you can place your entire hand in the UV lamp for the remainder of the time. Gels cure in a 36 watt lamp in 3 minutes so make sure the nails are fully cured before you cleanse the dispersion layer.

    I love that you don't pile on gel and make the nail look fat. These are elegant. Sometimes nail techs go way overboard with product. This is an easy fill and no damage to the cuticle. Finally!!!

      aww thank you .yes refills should be simple, easy and not a big lump of gel is needed to create a beautiful and natural nail.

      Angie L having a nice apex shouldn't make the nails too thick. I always get a nice apex for strength & shape. It doesn't look right to me when nails are just flat.

    You want to flip the nail over (for a few seconds after applying and right before curing) so that gravity works in your favor. That will also help with the leveling and giving you a nice c curve.

    thank you so much for posting this! I have been use the cheap Sina gel, but want to switch to IBD but cant decide if I should do soak off or not. I had a lot of breaking with the Sina and it was so damaging to remove that I am wondering if I should do a soak off next time... when do you think it is better to do soak offs? do they have any down sides? I wonder if they might not be as strong or do they not last as long? thanks so much! You videos are SO helpful!

    Hi, could you tell me what you found about the gel quality? Does it go away easily? How long does it last? Did you find it consistent? I ask why I'm going to try to make nails gel at home just like you and I would like a very good and cheap gel that lasts for nails 3 weeks or more because I perform cleaning and lots of typing, so I would need a gel Well resistant and with an excellent price. thank you so much

    I remove the gel exactly the same way you do... My question is: how do I remove the gel from the lifted areas close to the cuticles?
    I file the gel down, but don't know how to get rid of the air bubbles that appear in the lifted area.

    It seems like no matter what I do, I always get some gel too close, or even over some of my cuticle area...even if I don't put it there, since it is self leveling, it just ends up there.
    How do I avoid that?

    But your nail looks as if you didn't use gel before on it. How do you clean the gel off and manadge to keep those healthy looking nails?

    I'm new to gel nails. I've been experimenting with soak off and hard gels for a couple of weeks and have decided to use the hard gel system for strength on my natural nails. Can you tell me everything I'll need? It looks like I need Bonder, Builder Gel and Top Coat from your video, but I noticed your top coat says UV on the bottle. I have an LED lamp, so times on all of these products would be very much appreciated. Also, I was hoping to find a pink/blush builder gel. I think IBD Xtreme Blush is what I want? Thanks!

    I am new to the ibd builder. Do you put it thicker near the cuticle? I've noticed I get quite a bit of lifting there and Idk if I'm putting it on too thin or I'm buffing it too thin. Thought maybe a little thicker might stop that

    • @MollyMoosNails
      @MollyMoosNails 6 років тому

      Lisa Ritchie no don't apply thick layer of gel near the cuticles.. you shouldnt be able to notice where the gel ends on your cuticles... as in- it should blend in smoothly. If you have lifting near your cuticles few things can cause this. Make sure you 1) cleanse, remove all surface oils. 2) lightly buff the nail to remove the shine and any dead skin tissue that can cause lifting 3) make sure to use dehydrator primer or bonder 4)make sure you cure the correct amount of time 5) don't file too rough when shaping use a light touch around the cuticle area as it can cause cracks. Hope this helps

  • @ugotitdude1112
    @ugotitdude1112 10 років тому

    It usually happens when a bigger or should I say, thicker amount of gel is applied to the nail. When it starts to burn, pull the finger out and press it against a hard surface, like the table, nail side up, and it should be fine. It has nothing to do with the quality of your products, but keep in mind, it's better to apply 2-3 thinner layers than 1 thick one.

      Senorita1982 I have finally found a solution. before I applied the bonder I used no lift primer from sallys in the blue box it was expensive $14 dollars at sallys but cheaper online and 2 weeks going strong no lifting. but it is acidic, just don't get on your skin only on the nail plate. I did the first coat let it dry and did a second coat and let it dry before applying the bonder. Hopefully this helps just sharing what worked for me
