Came to make the same comment, I was raised to support your local business as much as possible to help your local community. Love to see and hear it elsewhere! ( and love your projects as well)
Not sure if you checked it or not, but get up under the trailer and take a good look inside the king pin plate for rot holes. That's one of the number one reasons those aluminum flatbeds get junked.
I like the fact that you get on, fix the trailer and use it in the same video. Really enjoyed that, some channels would have spread that out over a month 🎉
When aluminum is in contact with steel, the aluminum will corrode badly. There was sealant around the steel subframe to aluminum frame juncture, but you removed it. It is important to reseal those crevices in order to keep the water out.
I get everyone bemoans spool gun. When it's set up correctly in the hands of a skilled operator it's a strong and economical way of fabrication. However, as most of us know: That is not always the case. The cost of TIGing a trailer like that would be pretty astronomical.
Minimum wage, %50 of welders are on parole and get paid Minimum wage. Well when I took some automotive classes at the local community College which was next to the welder classes. Half the welders were on parole
I'm not sure if you'll have anybody up there that does it but try to find someone to blow corn cob on the trailer it's kinda like a sand blaster it does a real nice job of cleaning aluminum
Those big coach steer tires look good on the trailer. They might even be a little taller than your drive tires. My VNL was built with those big bolognies on the steer axle and 275 tires on the drive. Looked like it skipped leg day!
Man that is one sharp KW. I really enjoyed that build it was awesome!!! So cool seeing the Ole girl back to work on the farm is super awesome!! As always love the content never disappointing. Can't wait to see the next video. Keep up the great work and content.
I passed my test about three months ago for Class 2 in Scotland, that means I can drive rigid lorries, I am a supervisor for our local council so every time I get a chance to drive a bin lorry or a salt gritter or hook lift I'm off, they are so much fun and the more gears the better. 🤪
The clip of the trailer dragging the rear tires makes me nostalgic, I worked with my dad's friend doing driveways when I was in high school, the one guy he worked with had a 53' dump trailer but the lift axle wouldn't lift and the air line was broken so the brakes wouldn't release, he drug it across town like that to finish a job 😆 the flat spots were down to the wires when he got there
Brings back memories of when I used to run the lower 48 and Canada in a Freight liner before there was a CDL required by the DMV used to pull a 48foot refer and haul alot of loads of swinging beef from Amarillo TX to Chicago and flat bed machines up and down the east coast of U.S.A. almost want to get back into it.
Looks like Rich has found his dream job and he didn't even know he wanted to be a trucker. A lot of guys out there would love to be in that position; your own truck, bought and paid for. She looks great, sounds fantastic and there's a whole lot of money out there, just waiting to be made.👍😁
Good truckin driver 👌 Just some pointers, straps gotta go inside the rub rail. Also if you like having all of your teeth please please please invest in an actual strap binder bar. Theyre made specifically so they're less likely to slip out while you're cranking on em. Other than that love the vids brother!
Awesome video, As a townie who got to spend some good times on peoples farms inlc neighbors the smells is something that has made my dream not to have a house in town but have a farm and work for a living rather than work just to live
Beautiful Kenworth and the aluminum trailer is only going to look good for a little while but all of the work was worth it . Now get out there and make some money . Great video Rich .
Couple products I use to use on my old mans fleet when we were trucking were from Johnny rag in thorold not far from you. The first one is called Aluma bright and Johnny rag touch less vehicle wash the both of them I would apply with a garden sprayer and pressure wash off and the nice thing with doing it yourself is you can mix the aluma bright heavy and clean that trailer right up
If you are doing a lot of those restorations, invest in a dry ice blaster or soda blaster, or even a rust/gunk laser cleaner. Dry ice blaster cleans well and doesn't leave the area with sand everywhere like the sand/soda blaster. But i think the soda blaster cleans better than the dry ice blaster. You can thank me later...
We had a 5000 psi pressure washer that had a abrasive siphon feed attachment that worked great, kinda like sand blasting without the toxic dust, you can use any abrasive, not just sand, that may have worked good on the underside of the trailer, I did my F600 ramp truck, it worked great
I own a Peterbilt 379, I normally pull a end dump with, but there has been a time or two, if i had a flatbed, could have picked up a nice paying job or two, wish I could find a free flatbed like that that didn’t take to much to make road worthy!
I can help you save those nice air tanks.. Simple thing here... Drain the air tanks when you leave it sit for any long periods.. It helps keep moisture out, preventing interior rust..
I'm not big on american style trucks, but this one really spoke to me. I'm driving one just like it in American Truck Simulator right now. I'd love to know what you get up to with it.
Cleaning out rust of a circular hole is easier done with a suitable piece of round stock or pipe (that will fit your drill) , cut a slot in it, put a strip of sandpaper in it and lay loose ! Using a drill or you'll be turning it by hand for days 🤣
Knowing the Canadian winters in yer area, can we assume that the wiring on the Ford will be a winter to winter project? All kidding aside, nice work Rich, following yer truck builds as much as I'm watching Mark at TwinSticks garage and Tim at Gentry's....
Know it may be a little more than you need, but there's a company called Tiger Tool that makes a press to drive those brake anchor pins out. They also make suspension bushing presses to use on vehicle. Bunch of cool tools. Hashtag not sponsored, just use them in my shop and they're great tools.
That's a small load 😅🤏 4 in height 3 in width and the last 12 langs halfway ower the edge 😂 49 tons last trip of the day 😂 that was exciting getting home to the farm 😅 😂😅
On those rear pins for the brakes that get stuck really bad- I used to do the same thing heat them up throw a little water on them get everything to expand and contract, and pound them out and it does work but I think it's still weakens that spider casting significantly. Lately I've been taking a ball joint press like the biggest one the auto parts store has for doing like a super duty truck or something. I'll take and heat up the pin good and hot, just the pin and then I'll spray some water on it so it shrinks down quick and breaks free and then I'll press it out with a ball joint press and they come out pretty slick actually. I sleep a little better at night wondering if that typecasting is going to break up because I heated the crap out of it haha
All trailers had problems but I did not like the aluminum trailers . Compass that turned into Falcon had one back in the 80s . It got used for the wrong load / loaded the wrong way . Say that . It came in dragging bellie . It was never the same and it was a new loner . I do miss working on the old rigs . You do a great job .
19:46 I’m surprised that these glad hand couplers are still being used today. I have always wondered what could happen if water or mud dobbers got inside. Frozen water can block the lines too.
Very much looking forward to getting into it once the F350 is done. Coyote, paint, interior, 6R80 solid axle swap and Ford 9" rear. Bear brakes. Have everything waiting in the shop
I don't know about the rest of your fan base, but I'm absolutely loving the transport truck vids. Keep up the good work Rich!
That truck is sexy sounding and is easy on the eyes!
100% These videos are super interesting
Me too. I subbed for all the farm equipment repair and heavy duty
"We're gonna support someone local first" Rich...those words are friggin gold these days. That's the attitude I wish more people had.
I would give you more thumbs up if I could
Y'all Canadians stick together. That's what you get for eating maple syrup.
Came to make the same comment, I was raised to support your local business as much as possible to help your local community. Love to see and hear it elsewhere! ( and love your projects as well)
didnt seem like it worked out though, they never showed any of the acid wash process, no end result, clearly didnt go as planned
@@justinwatch good one. Lol
C'mon Rich, three high and three on the back or you're wasting diesel. Nice trailer, love that truck.
Best regards from Indiana, USA.
Rich gets a bit sooky when its favor time... loading that trailer like theres a pickup in the front pulling it
Love seeing a bit of Kevin’s operation. I help out a friend doing small square bales and there’s nothing like the smell of a fresh cut hay field.
Nuthin quite like filling your lungs with dust
I love the smell of alfalfa. Unfortunately I'm extremely allergic to it.
Not sure if you checked it or not, but get up under the trailer and take a good look inside the king pin plate for rot holes. That's one of the number one reasons those aluminum flatbeds get junked.
Need to put the sealant back around the suspension. The sealant keeps salt and crude from getting between the steel and aluminum.
I like the fact that you get on, fix the trailer and use it in the same video. Really enjoyed that, some channels would have spread that out over a month 🎉
the trailer looks nice, wat stood out for me was the Dutch flag on that tractor in the background, thanks for supporting our farmers
When aluminum is in contact with steel, the aluminum will corrode badly. There was sealant around the steel subframe to aluminum frame juncture, but you removed it. It is important to reseal those crevices in order to keep the water out.
Free is always the most expensive....
Ain't that the truth mate! Lol
I got a free boat once, never financially recovered…
I got my ex-wife for free. Cost me 1000x what a prostitute does plus I pay per play not monthly.
@@makeitwork583
Guess the saying is true.
If it flys, floats or fucks it's cheaper to rent than to own.
In this case he made out as that trailer new is about 100 G's and all he got into it is less than 10 G's
I love it! She's a beauty but still hauls just fine. It's great that both Rich and the truck get to do useful work and exercise those skills!
I get everyone bemoans spool gun. When it's set up correctly in the hands of a skilled operator it's a strong and economical way of fabrication. However, as most of us know: That is not always the case.
The cost of TIGing a trailer like that would be pretty astronomical.
I've got to say, this truck and trailer combo makes moving dead grass around look absolutely heroic.
Great video 👍. Kudos to you for working with the local and younger generations in your area. 👏. The trailer looks like it works out for you. Nice job
100%
Best part of the video...the Dutch flag flying on the White tractor in the background while Kevin was loading hay!
I cant get enough of the truck content so keep it coming, I have NO complaints! :D
Man as someone who wants to get into the trucking industry. Man It's really cool and entertaining/interesting watching you restore this trailer. 👏
Saw the truck sitting at V&R this week. Looks Awesome.
Thanks man!
I can't even fathom how expensive it would be to have someone tig weld the entire assembly of the trailer.
That's why they use MIG and rivets
@@richardturner8630 and robots lol
most of em are robotic nowadays
And just over a hundred years ago land speed race cars were built with adjustable crescent wrenches.
Ppl are amazing

23:45 that B roll IS SO GOOD AND MUSIC IS SUCH A VIBE
Awesome to see you using it. It looks so good with the prison gate lights on and working! You just keep making it better and better.

Looks like an amazing deal! Those wheel ends look amazing for their age too. Not all crusty and flakey
I use new glad hands with screens, keep the mud daubers out. And new hoses to the brake cans.
Awesome to see both truck and trailer doing some important work! Thanks for sharing as always :)
Absolutely love seeing the Truck and the Trailer put to work.
Man that is one sharp KW. I really enjoyed that build it was awesome!!! So cool seeing the Ole girl back to work on the farm is super awesome!! As always love the content never disappointing. Can't wait to see the next video. Keep up the great work and content.
That's a hell of a deal. I wish I could find a free trailer like that. Great video and love the content.
Love the cab over. And those field entrances get easier with time!
Man im glad i live in Florida! The salt just eats up vehicles!

brings back memories crawling around under the trailers. love the old green A car in the background.
Grandpa always says "anything free is worth saving up for"
Nailed it
With that tank, nothing like taking a possible explosive situation and adding some screw ammunition to it, lol
even though im from the usa i love that you try to support local first. good man

The king of bling is your man!!
I’m glad you have deep pockets I can already see that it’s going to be very expensive to get that trailer dot inspected and road worthy
Starting to sound like a trucker "new brakes? Pssh shiny stuff and lights 👌"
Having the rigs looking good prevents getting pulled over in the first place.
Great video. Phil and Kevin are a real asset to your channel Rich
Another great video and a bonus part with Kevin!
Awesome video. Reminded me of the days hanging out in the tractor as a kid baling hay.
I'm jealous. I love that truck. Good video.
Vince has to be one of the best metal workers I've seen he's such a good welder
Good truckin driver 👌

Those are loosest damn bales of hay I thnk I've ever seen. Kevin cracks me up. The sound of that truck hauling a full load makes me smile every time.
Super wet, which is why we only went 2 high. They got wrapped and will turn to silage
Beautiful Kenworth and the aluminum trailer is only going to look good for a little while but all of the work was worth it . Now get out there and make some money . Great video Rich .

Greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰
"Trucking sucks" he says with a big ole grin lmao it's true though it sucks but some of us love it
Duuuude, fixing a trailer then carting stuff. Awesome!
Look forward to seeing more jobs with the truck and trailer! Looks awesome and great seeing it work too!

Any time I've got rusted anchor pins, I use torch to heat up the ears, then an air hammer square in the center of the pin to drive it on through.
I run liquid wrench through all my lines once a week. About a 20 second blast in the red line. Seams like my valves and seals last a lot longer.
The penetrating oil? (I saw they make silicone/chain lube/etc too)
i see the previous owner used the special adhesive turkey poop to attach the box support haha

The hay trucks I've seen them run on the highway in Australia can get pretty nuts. Oversize is a given.
Reitnouer's are expensive trailers! This is going to look good tied to the Kdub! You do freaking nice work!!!
Trailer looks great hooked to cab over. Like the big truck content.

A Dutch flag in the video collecting hay I love it, I’m a Dutchman in the UK
The timelapse of the Uniloader putting the haybales up sounds like Alvin on Shrooms
Oven cleaner works good for a degreaser and a strong cleaner and is cheaper then a automotive degreaser
That is a beautiful set up, loved watching your adventure.

Great Job,….as usual,….Really Happy For You And Your Family.
You should do a how it works on the square baler there's some stuff going on in those things
Great channel
cheers
With such a nice truck, you need a polished flatbed trailer of course
The Dutch flag should be the other way around to support Dutch farmers.
Great content, love the straight forward no b.s.. digging the vgg hat to.👍
That’s the best smelling load of freight there is 👍
Eu adoro ver esses vídeos sou carreteiro no Brasil a 35 anos gosto muito de caminhão

Only thing better than a friend with a pickup is a friend with a cabover and a flatdeck.
Best way I found to remove the brake pins was heat and a ball joint press. With an impact gun instead of turning the press by hand
Trailer turned out great for the money!
What did you brush the axles with?
Never compromise safety by skimping on brakes. I don't argue the one axle of good shoes and drums but would have changed all the piggyback chambers.
19:46 I’m surprised that these glad hand couplers are still being used today. I have always wondered what could happen if water or mud dobbers got inside. Frozen water can block the lines too.
if your running through Ky and need the Hendrix intrax axles and hangers I got a few if ya need em .
Great to see the Dutch flag in the field on the tractor :)
I wish I could score a trailer like that for free, it would make one hell of a dock in the lake haha
The license plate on that Bronco is the best thing I seen all this week on youtube 🤣
