A tip I learned from my old instructor, when you get out of your seat, remember to air your seat down so it's easier to get back in. Or, since you're a mechanical fellow like me, find a seat air dump pressure switch so when you leave the seat, the air dumps automatically. Glad you're one of us now Rich!
Thats whats nice about the new petes and kws they come standard with it
@@moparjr89 i know the higher end seats have the switch built in and that's a nice feature. I had swapped my seat in my last truck with a legacy low and installed a switch from a MCI J4500 so it auto-dumped when i got out of the seat. I miss that
Or just be a man and drive with your seat Aired out
Or have it hooked to your ride, when it airs down you air down... great for leaks.
I hate the auto dump, I set the seat and rarely adjust it
As a truck driver in Canada, and the fleet trainer for my company I would like to say congrats, nice to see another responsible driver on the road, and what a beautiful rig, keep her shiny side up Rich, enjoy
Yeah I heard about Canada's issue with non licensed illegal alien drivers. It's pretty sad not to mention the DOT officers who avoid pulling them over its a big racket.
this guy and responsible? are you nuts?
🤣 just kidding of course. 🥳🤡
Your eyes tell me how exhausted you were when the test was over. So much work and effort and I can't help feeling that you did it for us, so thank you. As each project reaches the done (but not done) stage you can take some time to enjoy them.
I just got my drivers license today man. I’m happy that you got your cdl license or whatever Canada’s equivalent is. And I’m so excited I passed my drivers test on the first try
Congrats Chris!
@@DEBOSSGARAGE there's a faker pretending to be you posting spam replies on here.

Congrats Rich. Hard work & perseverance has paid off. I had no doubt about you passing. A good examiner can calm down a nervous driver.
I can attest to this. I got my drivers license at 21 after overcoming my fear and my examiner and I shot the shit and I was pretty chill the entire time.
@@abbybonilla4511 I'm glad you had a good guy, most examiners in Arkansas, try to make you fail, and they get a kick out failing someone. Especially if they miss something. Like a headlight. I was grandfathered in so all I had to do was take the driving test. Well the written test too. I aced it very well. I have heard of guys, they start at the front of the truck tell the hater about the different parts, and skip a head light because you have 2 and get failed.
This flashes me back to taking my initial driver’s license exam back in 1976.
Showing up to take the test in a -67 1 Ton dually flatbed, manual trans, I think the examiner thought I was nuts. I did pass the first time though.
The farm boy experience made the difference…
Congratulations on getting your license Rich!
The rules you have to know now are insane. I got my combination license back in 1983 and added all the specialty certificates along the way. In 1992 when I move here to Hawaii it cost me almost $9,000 to change over to the CDL and retest and recert for all the specialty classifications for hazmat, liquids and fuels, aerated gases, specialized hauling platforms and all the other nonsense.
Be Proud! You definitely earned it.🤙
This was a fun series to watch. My family owned a KW dealership back in the '80s, when I was a toddler, and I remember those trucks from when they were new. One time my sister and I did a ride along with my Dad in a nearly identical cab over as what must have been part of a pre-delivery. He kept yelling at us not to jump on the bed! 😆
I also remember my Dad grinding the snot out of that poor transmission. He worked 'em... he didn't drive 'em. 🤣
They gotta get broken in somehow! ;^y
I’ll pass along the best advice I received on my first day driving a truck. If you ever stop hearing that little voice reminding you that you could kill someone in that truck, get out of it immediately. The battle against complacency is constant and we all have to fight it every single day.
Solid advice. I train a lot of folks with dangerous tools of all kinds, and I let everyone know that the "expert" is usually the one who screws something up or gets hurt. The newbs are generally safer and better at it because they take their time to do it right, and haven't developed bad habits yet. Over time you can get complacent and comfortable with danger. A buddy of mine sawed off the tips of his fingers on a table saw years ago, after using them regularly for a decade. In that case it only hurt him. With 80K rolling it can easily be someone else, or a lot of someones.
I've been driving for 32 years and I've never had the chance to drive a cabover myself. My grandfather was a truck driver and when I was a kid way back in the 70's, I would go with him all the time. He did drive a couple cabovers. One was a White Freightliner and the other was a Diamond Reo. I loved that view from way up high. She's a beauty of a Kenworth Rich and hopefully I'll pass you on the highway someday.
Congrats, I train people to drive school bus and get the required class b cdl here in the states, and honestly managing your stress for the test I think is what everyone has the hardest time with. Having the right person doing your test goes a long ways though, some of them are absolute deadpan government robots whom give you no idea how you are doing, others are the nicest people, willing to throw you a bone, ask you stuff if your weren't specific enough about something, ect.
Congrats on the lic man ! Awesome job on this build and on a deadline too ! It sure is a beauty , Thx for keeping her alive Rich. I really appreciate seeing these flat nose trucks on the road even tho they scared me as a kid ,lol.
Congrats on your new license..I went through the same stress periods for my pilot certificates. Passing the check rides brought a much welcome relief and satisfaction of accomplishment. Enjoy, stay safe and let the learning begin. 👍🏻
Thinking I might go for my pilots license next... Know where any are for sale?
@@richbosch9564 I know of a harrier or two for sale, and an F-4
@@richbosch9564 Afghanistan has plenty
Congrats on getting the license. Gorgeous truck. She'll look even better once the interior is restored. Glad UA-cam recommended this video :)
There's only one truck I like even more than the K100, its Aerodyne variant. Great series. Greetings from Europe!
I passed my license 10 years ago and never drove a truck since. It's a shame, it was fun. Congratulations, at least you have a truck of your own too enjoy!
I had a 1980 K-100. Had a 3406A Cat, 15spd and 4:11 rears. ( Double-Nickel Truck) Man, that thing was a great hill climber.
Seat belts ??? They show up later in the show !!! Got my Ontario AZ in 2009 when I turned 60, through Tri County in Cambridge ON. Nailed it on the first try, got one error notice "not turning my head enough when checking mirrors" (female examiner also). Did a few months on the road with McNamara Transfrt in Ayr, southern On to Winnipeg, Calgary and return runs through N.Dakota to West Virginia back to Ayr. My last run took me into Florida in the middle of summer (100% hot +100% humidity) got laid over in a Flying J for a few days waiting for a load to return home .. and that was the end of my long haul trucking career. I converted to off road haul trucks working the aggregate pits all over southern ON, airport runway expansion projects, landfill site renovations and new landfill projects and a huge landscaping project at the Toyota plant near London. Turns out that that 6 wheel articulating Volvos, Cats and Komatsus driving was more to my liking...less time away from home for weeks on end...got to meet a lot of fine folks running loaders and excavators, crushers and screen plants.
Now you don't have to worry about double clutchin lol. I've had my cdl for 8 years now and I don't regret it one bit. Congrats. You deserve it cause all the hard work you do.
Congrats on passing the test. All the heavy duty trucks I drove never included a fifth wheel truck as long as yours. Even for a flat front, you've got a lot of distance between the bumper & the kingpin. Great video and best of luck to you.
Great swing angles.
Sounds like a win-win. Congratulations brother👍👍👍
That’s awesome that you’re working with the Daycab Company and you’ve opened their catalogue up to cover Kenworth cabovers.
Awesome K W its a beautiful rig hopefully you will be able to run her for many many years thanks for the privilege of getting to see her run
Glad to see you got the old CDL the test makes for a nerve-wracking day. When I took my CDL test here in the states I failed the first pass at a railroad crossing not coming to a complete stop. The instructor told me to head on back. When she told me why I failed I asked when I could retake the test...she said I could retake it now if I wanted but if I failed a second time I would have to take all the written tests again before I could drive the test again. I did pass on the second try including the Passenger endorsement because I drive Limo Buses. They really take it seriously when you haul 50 passengers instead of 50,000 lbs. Good job Mr. De Boss
Congratulations, I got my CDL 16 year’s ago super nervous I failed the first time for not tum my head to show the instructor that I was looking in my mirrors 😩 second time almost gave myself whiplash lol.
Thanks for sharing buddy I loved driving but my health problems have caused me to lose my cdl 😭 take care buddy congratulations
Your old KW looks badass you knocked that one clean out of the park awesome job
I vote he starts hauling loads and taking us on his adventures with a few go pros located in the cab and a few outside the cab to get the shots of the trailer doing its thing around corners.. I love the truck mate. Great colour scheme and great attitude. Cheers from an Aussie trucker.
Well done on getting your Licence fella, it's a good feeling Driving up high pulling a 40ft-enjoy it 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Such a beautiful truck!!! You did a heck of a job restoring it.
I remember when I started driving semi’s legally. I went down to the driver license place, payed 2 bucks and had chauffeur license added. First truck was a fleet star with a 671. Had a ball.
Hey Rich congrats man! I just got my license too, your build videos were motivation to keep at it and I got a kick out of seeing you get your licence at about the same time, awesome!!
My old employer Shell delivers again. Good upstream activity, stellar midstream productions of lubricants and fuels. Kudos to Shell and ThaBoss garage
I had the same instructor when I got my license in Brantford, highly recommend KRTS :) keep er save good sir
Congrats on your license 🥳🥳 The truck is a thing of beauty, it must feel great to pass the test in something you built yourself!
Rich, I run Rotella 15-40 in my two antique Buicks. Those old flat tappet V8's love that extra zinc that is in diesel rated oil. I also include zinc additive with every oil change. Which I do in each car once a year. I don't change because of mileage but because of time.
you should do a video on those two when you do the next oil change, is always cool to see maintenance on older cars, what year are they? 1960s i’m guessing?
@@skonky One is a 1956 Buick, the other is a 1965 Buick.
@@mikemullay5622 nice
i’d love to see a video on them
Loving all the KW videos!! You've been killing it ! Would love to see more of Phil! What an amazing friend he is.
As long as the lady didn’t rock back and forth when the trailer wheels hit the curb. You’re good. Keep ‘er between the ditches. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Congrats Rich! Nailing it on the first try ain't easy. When I got my Class A I failed the pre-trip (air brakes) 3 times. I would get one thing wrong and the next week I would get it right but get something else wrong that I had gotten correct the previous week. I just couldn't get around the nerves with the regular DOT examiner. Strangely enough, I passed everything with flying colors the 4th time when one of the DOT big bosses administered the driving test. I only lost like one point for "missing" a shift (I got it in the slot it just didn't want to catch) even though 6th gear was a little finnicky on my truck (my pfp). The neat thing was I didn't have to take a course, I just had to prove I knew what needed to be knew.
The K-Whopper is a real looker! It's been fun watching it come together. Your channels and this rig in particular have given me some inspiration, motivation, and dedication to build a 7 ton pickup truck.
It appears you'll make a fine trucker. Time to go Billy Big Riggin'!
Congrats on your CDL from over here in the states! I'm literally cruising I-5 in California in my Peterbilt right now, this video brought back many memories of long ago when i was super nervous doing my drive test. I'm guessing there wasn't any backing, 90 degree, or parallel trailer parking section in your driving test? Cuz that $hit was no joke, it was a pain in the A!!😅
I got my CDL back in ‘83 - it was absurdly easy when compared to today. I gave it up when I moved to Maryland from Florida. I wasn’t driving a truck anymore since I had graduated from college and the BS to keep it was not worth the trouble. Now of course 10 years later when I got laid off I sure wished I had kept it.
Great video and congratulations on getting your CDL's . The old truck is looking absolutely amazing.
Thanks for explaining things about what you went through while actually taking the test .
I will be seeing you all later in other videos, so take care and stay safe out there on the road .
🤗👍💖💫
Getting my AZ in northern Ontario was a great experience...just wish I'd done it when I was younger .
Man I love what you have done with this rig
let's talk about ur dads criminal record pedophiles do not belong on this channel
Congrats, got my Class 1 (now a class A) in 1978. Those big KW's were my dream truck back in the day. Bryan from NF, NY. 😉
That's One Absolutely Beautiful old KW !
That is great. Congrats Rich. Good you had a decent examiner.
Im in California but from Australia did drive road train! You be ok ! Just look out for the crazy on the road
When I took my test I went over a curb, I thought I was done but he said you looked and took it slow and I passed. 👍🏼
I know the feeling. When i got my cdl b license, i was nervous and i failed the first time. When i took it the second time i pass because i was more relaxed. But funny enough 6 years later i went for my cdl a and i was nervous again and making stupid mistakes. I knew i failed but i talked to the instructor at the end and told him that i went all this time with my cdl b without a ticket or accident and i don't drive like this. I told him just my nerves. He gave me a few minutes and told me that he trusted me and pass me. I was super happy. 10 years later still driving and i love it
Good on ya fella, always enjoy watching you videos 👍👍
as someone who drives a b model every day look into putting an old brakesaver on it to supplement your jakes
those jakes are about as useful as a paper bag hanging out the window while loaded
Congrats Rich Love your channel keep up the good work
Congrats, just a tip, you can float your gears, you don't have to double clutch. It's an art, but with practice very easy
Keep an eye on the flaps you put at the front of the fuel tanks. If they sail to much and hit the tanks they will rub a hole in them. Don't ask how I know. Beautiful truck, I'd be proud to drive it.
Thats friggin awesome! Truck is an absolute unit! Good job man! Just got my class 3 yesterday, friggin stressed out action!
Brother Rich....I can't believe I missed you in Pontiac MI....a mile away from my office.... I hope you M1, Woodward Ave again next year. Once you pass
love the truck great job on it and congats on passing the test. awsome vids. cheers .
Congratulations! Appreciate all the background info on the license up north.
Awesome job Rich! It's pretty cool to see how much fun your having driving that truck
Congrats Rich. I got my license back in February so I know how stressful it can be. Love the truck!
Rich it's amazing work that you do really like how you explain everything.
I've never really been a cab over fan but this truck does change my mind and I definitely would drive it.
Congratulations Rich from Massachusetts. Very well put together video. Now on to the next project. Thanks for sharing.
Well done on the truck and congrats on the license! Welcome to the family!!
You definately should get your liscensce, the trhck is super ready,no matter the age its the way how you restore it to presteige running condition. We ready for the road party.
Nice truck Rich, tons of work, has been great watching the project, but your work shows in the final results!
Well done on passing your truck test Rich, be great to see you driving it more often all the best buddy! 🇬🇧👏🏻👍🏻
Good job Rich! Love the content on your channel .
Congratulatios Richard! safe travels!!
Love these old cabovers. I saw a video sometime ago where a fellow had a cab over RV. I know…crazy! Congratulations on your license. I subscribed!
Congratulations on passing!
I've been following your channel quite some time and seen you work on some heavy-ass machinery and you always looked so at home with it that it never occurred to me you mightn't already have an HGV licence- anyway, trst is done, looking forward to seeing you enjoy it! 🙂👍
Congratulations, Rich! A job well done.
Congratulations Rich, I’m super stoked for you that everything worked out and you got your license.
I’m looking to try and get my heavy goods vehicle license over here in the UK.
Congrats sir, on both the license and the "finished" truck. You are a great inspiration to young people who are looking for a success path in the truck/car/mechanical world. I admire your work ethic and perseverance. Well done. Really looking forward to the F-350 build.
Congratulations Rich. Two huge accomplishments the cab over fully legal and your license! Looking forward to the updates on other projects.
Congratulations driver! I got mine on my first go too..it wasn't easy, so I know that feeling just before & after the test, so well done. Nice work on the Kenworth too, drive safe Rich, maybe we'll see ya on the road.
Congrats Rich!!! A lot of work went into both…your license and the tractor. I can say I’m excited that your back in the shop working on the F-350…I’m eager to see that content. Take care and God bless…David.
CONGRATS MAN!! Beautiful rig, nice job !!
Great job on making your license. What a nice truck. Can’t wait to see it completely finished
Bro.....first time watching your content, I love old trucks, thats why I tuned in.....but at the end you show up with a VGG cap on.....AWESOME! Just got yourself another sub!!!
That guy instructor that actually drove Truck was a awesome dude! Them old guys know all the actual real world issues and none of the nonsense that them book worm teachers try to push that means nothing in the real world!
Congrats on getting your Cdl A. The truck looks amazing
Congrats man! I’m training at the same place you got licensed at. Road test September 6! Great channel man! 👍
Congrats on passing. It wouldn't be a real driving test if there weren't any little issues but a decent examiner will understand that the little things can be let go sometimes.
Congratulations you definitely put in the work and deserve your license 👏
Awesome work Rich to keep pushing forward and get your license and do it in this truck is awesome, now take it out and bring us along!!
I'm glad that you mentioned the training time, so that people could appreciate more where you have been. I know you mentioned it on the DGHD channel, but I'm sure not everyone followed you over.
Great job and great video thanks for sharing have a great day and stay safe out there
wow things have surely changed when I got my license yrs ago it was a forty wk course.
Congrats Rich, looks good on ya...
Congratulations Rich! Safe travels hope to see you out on the highway one day.
Congratulations! Just renewed my AZ today. Every 5 years so I guess I have done this over 7 times now. I did mine in Hamilton. Took over 3 hours to just write the tests due to the number of people.
Well done Rich !! Congratulations and a beauty truck 🎯🎊🤗
Deadly! Good for you man, way to stick with it. Must feel real good!
Don't worry about getting videos out Rich, your content is worth the wait. As a heavy plant fitter I appreciate seeing the larger kit you work on.
I completely understand the nervousness you never know how the instructor is going to react to your personality.
Congratulations on your CDL! I’m in CDL school now in the states, and my test is next Wednesday. I’ve been pretty nervous the last 2 weeks, but your video helped
Congratulations on passing the test and getting the Truck "road worthy". You've put a load of effort into this, just like the other projects that have been done and I've enjoyed watching it all. It may be time for an additional channel, DG TRUCKING!
