Thanks for this tip, and all the others. Not having ready access to a tattoo supply house here in the wilderness, I searched Amazon for "tattoo ink bottles", and there they were, exactly as you show. Cheap, too.
When you're relabeling you're bottles of paint from one neatnik to another after putting the label on the new bottle use a piece of clear packaging tape and wrap one layer all the way around the bottle. This will keep any oopsies from getting to your written label and also makes it easier to clean anything you might get on it off without damaging the label you want to keep legible.
I've been using this bottle trick to mix my Mr. Surfacer primers as well, very handy. One tip I found is to get some small steel balls and put one in each bottle so that when you shake/mix em, it helps to break down the paint particles more.
Yes, the steel ball trick. Works great. However don't use them in acrylics, because they're water based the balls rust. I also use 2 different powered paint stirrers. I will show them in my new video posting tomorrow
@@barbatosrex9473 if you have some empty paint cans lying around (and a good set of gloves), you can cut them open (AFTER making sure all the propellant is gone) and extract the marbles from within those. That's a great substitute for the steel balls.
I got some of those twist top bottles from AliExpress and they are great, mine are graduated up the side. The 30ml's were about $2.90 for 5, the 120mls are about $4.60 for 5 so your local prices sound pretty good.
I've been stocking up on jars lately. Can never have enough. Have you seen my Revell Enamels video? Those square Tamiya jars are great too although a little small they do come in handy
@@barbatosrex9473 im hookes on Rustoleum Bonding Primer white and grey straight out of the can. So little difference between Gunze or Tamiya and a big can same price is a no brainer.
Ok. I’m about to try this tomorrow. To be safe, about how much base white do you estimate you added to the 1500 white? The new jar of 1500 white was 40ml. I’m just trying not to mess it up by adding too much. Thanks!!
@@barbatosrex9473 and (because I’m one to ask too many questions) when you’re putting your surfacers into bottles, do you premix the thinners in also? If you do, I’ve seen people using 1:1.5 primer to thinner (I’m looking at you EAGunpla and Gunpla University) as their preferred ratios. Do you feel the same, or do you use more/less thinner when you premix?
@@gunplabadly sure you can pre thin it. I like my lacquers thin . You don't have to thin the primer as much as the paint but u still would go slightly more thinner than primer
Having a difficult time trying to get Mr.Finishing 1500 black in the UK - seems to be out of stock everywhere, do you possibly know any similar alternatives to this?
@@barbatosrex9473 After having a little dig, it seems all the other colors are available just not the black so maybe just a stock delay or something. Everything else just seems to be water based or in a spray can so I think Ill just keep an eye out for Mr.Finishing

Makes me wonder if adding a drop of C-series paint to 10-20 drops of mr primer or mr primer surfacer would mess up the primer... Almost all minis I paint are gray and so is the primer, which is kind of annoying >_>

It'd the same ratio for primers, 1 to 1. You can pre thin the Primers too no problem

Easiest way to peel those surfacer labels ?
Hair dryer
Have you had any issues with the lacquer messing with the plastic bottle?
I have not. This mix has been on my shelf for about a half year and it's just fine. Looks like the day I mixed it

I didn’t understand what this video is about, about how to pour from a can into a bottle?
It’s about how to mix two paints into one and store in a separate container.
There is this new fangled invention....I think they call them funnels.....😂
Why not just prime with the Base White. Mr. Hobby considers it a Surfacer.
Over dark blue or black plastic the Base white was very thin on corners and crevices. When I combined them I got much better results
👍👍👍
I hope those bottles did not melt…
They didn't. Still intact and on the shelf
