Fun fact about this album you probably didn't know, the technique the singer was using was really harmful to your voice. On top of that it hurts like hell to do. He just didn't care about anything during this point.
pretty sure we can tell buddy lol.
He also cut himself while recording disasterpiece to make his screams more brutal
@@tristanmedrano4856iowa
And also in the song "Iowa" too, @@tristanmedrano4856 .
Explains why when I try to imitate it I end up coughing and tearing up
The first track 515 is the area code for iowa. The dj of the band, Sid Wilson (aka dj starscream), had just received news about his grandfather passing away, and they damn near immediately had him in the studio. You can feel the sheer emotion coming off of that track, even though it was just sid screaming "death". It was oddly impactful and really sets the tone for the whole album
yo thanks for that fact, I won't hear it the same again. Crazy..
12:17 Dude, I,ve never seen anyone sitting still, during such a killer headbanging breakdown lol
Dude!! For real. Its painfull to just sit completely still.
Btw Slipknot fans don't mind your preference. Everyone has their own taste in music. Sometimes it's similar and sometimes it's a curve ball. I have guilty pleasures that would make metalheads say awwwww hell no.
i think their first album (self titled) is more of an enjoyable album to sit through imo, a bit less suffocating, this one's just so brutal all the time and long lol their self titled album has a little more of a hip-hop influence and is less death metal inspired. Still pretty heavy though.
@@kw1ll1sreacts The 10th anniversary edition is a must. The regular edition has a song missing because they had to remove it back when it came out but the 10th anniversary edition puts it back where it should be, also has cool bonus tracks.
Iowa is the best Slipknot album
Death metal lolz learn your music before stating an opinion
@@kharnthebetrayer7033 What is wrong about his opinion, ive been listeting to Death metal, Brutal Death, Grind and Deathcore for years and i cant easily tell that IOWA has some Death metal and Slayer influences, its pretty noticeable, although its not a HUGE influence, but is there, You Literally can put the intro of People = Shit as a starter bit on a brutal death album with the style of Early Cryptopsy or late Vital remains with the vocals lowered down..
@@kharnthebetrayer7033 Death Metal enthusiast here and they have death metal/grindcore influences not in every song or even a whole song but it is there, Eeyore and get this are basically grindcore songs with unorthodox vocals.
Man, good job sitting through all of Iowa (the song), I've only done that a handful of times
I've listened to Iowa a lot! But "sitting" through it. Never.
I only did it maybe twice. It’s kinda boring tbh
Best song on the album with headphones on, just listen to all the different sounds, drumbeats and Corey just saying/screaming what he wants. It really feels like the song moves you forward. It’s beautiful and haunting at the same time 👍
I always listen to Iowa all the way through anytime I listen to the album in full which is like every other day🤣
I do it everyday
The shape has became one of my favourites in recent years
Metabolic for me
@@sjescone new abortion for me
Same.. I relate to The shape
what you listened to in (515) was Sid (the DJ) letting loose all of his emotions. He JUST lost his Granddad wich he was very close to.
Dude, these album reactions are really great man. I love the fact that you appreciate the albums as a whole, as they were meant to be listened. Your reason for expanding your musical boundaries is super to see. I hope that if you learn one thing from listening to this album it is this: Make the music you want, don't conform, don't mind what people think. Somewhere out there, there's minds that will connect with it.
You want to understand the reason for their anger. I highly suggest you watch IOWA - The Slipknot Story. Great documentary with interviews that will give insight to their motivations. For example why they wear masks.
Dude, smashing reaction. Thank you.
NO. Thank YOU! :)
got to remember this album came out in 2001
Came out in '01 and better music and quality of the shit we hear in 2022. Late '90's and early '00's were amazing times. There were No phones, social media, etc. You waited for a CD to come out and had venture out into the big bad world to buy it, it was great! and music was way more respected and appreciated and things were fresh. I'm nostalgic as fuck these days.
The bands that you keep hearing in these tracks are taking from Slipknot or Korn more than the other way around
In slipknots music there are soooo many hidden messages in the samples that are not in the official lyrics. some of them are even played in reverse, so you have to actually go out of your way to understand some of it. In one of the samples on the title track, played reverse he screams DONT LOOK AT ME! As if one of the band members or someone else was looking at him with a face while he was covered in vomit and and harming himself.
Iowa
"Never heard a 15 minute song in my life" time to go listen to some Tool! lmao
Before this album came out I was super into Slipknot with the first album. This actually took me a while to get used to, because I wasn't into such heavy stuff. But this album has grown on me. First 2 albums are the best for that pissed off vibe. Got tickets to see them live again in a few months. They've never disappointed.
Both of these Slipknot reactions were dope, really appreciate your focus on the lyrics!
And keep it up with the slipknot reactions man you rock🤘
The intro of skin ticket is super fun to play on the drums.
Finally so many people pass this song off because its different this is my favourite too because it has soo much depth behind it. Corey is literally keeping himself alive for his fans and when he says at the end of concerts "we love you, you have no idea" he literally means that.
You should watch this live KW1LL1S REACTS he gives his soul and everything he got too this song.
Let me know what you think you seem like a decent guy, I'm a bit of a deep thinker myself.
i dont know if you knew this or not but this album is alot darker than you think. at this time in the band's carrer they were all on drugs and hated eachother, it was really bad and most definitley the darkest time for the band. there will never be another iowa. this album came from a time and a place that will never be recreated. in the title track what that is, is sid screaming. he's screaming because his close family memebers had died in a car accident and he didnt get to tell them goodbye. so he just walked into the studio and started screaming and someone recorded it. corey later said that when he was done, everyone was crying. everyone was having nasty breakdowns regularly, especially sid and jim. when recording 'left behind' corey (lead singer) stripped completely naked and threw up all over himself and cut himself with broken glass. i hope this helped you understand the album a little better.
Everything here is right other than Corey doing that during ‘left behind’ he actually did this during ‘iowa’ (the song) and the screaming u hear during it is actually Corey’s screams of pain from him cutting himself
@@grilledforeskin7327 my bad
“People make noises when there sick” Disasterpiece is a song about bullying believe it or not. At least that’s what I read and heard
Slipknot’s all about creating layered atmosphere.
Nice way to do reactions, just hope this stays up
Nice reaction bro, go ahead
It's really hard to give people an idea of what kind of band Slipknot is. They changed their sound with each album. The first (Slipknot) had more of a hip hop influence. The second (Iowa) was more chaos. The third (vol 3 Subliminal verses) was more alternative. The fourth (All Hope Is Gone) was more groove metal. The fifth (The Gray Chapter) was more of a mix of all. The sixth (We Are Not Your Kind) was more experimental.
Im so glad that I was not the only one who heard Three Days Grace on the song Left Behind. I love Three Days Grace I’m glad someone made a reference to them🙏. That just made my day😂
This Album is absolutely fucking brutal, heavy, disgusting, and hate filled in all the best ways. I have only ever been able to sit through this album front to back once. Easily one of my all time favorite albums.
Nice reaction
I don't know why you haven't got 100k plus subscribers. I really admire the fact that you are trying to figure it out whilst witnessing greatness for the first time. If you look into there history you will understand that most of there music is a story of the pain the band members suffered in there youth and this is there outlet. They made history I haven't heard anything no where near as good as slipknot. Corey Taylor is the front man and vocalist and his connection with the crowd is insane. check out "Corey Taylor Snuff live in London". Keep up the good work.
'99 Slipknot is better than 99% of music today. They're still my favorite band! Since 19 90 fucking 9! How many bands can pull that shit off?!
Falling in reverse made a song with the vocalist of slipknot called drugs corey taylor is the man
Their self titled album is also good!!
I think Iowa is a million times better, and their best album to date
@@JBthree24 i second that. All other albums were okish, but thats all.More of the radio side of the things.
@@KORNBG how is slipknot self title "okish"? tf
@@touch0826 i am huge fan of slipknot, still have first 3 albums on tapes since they were out for sale.IMO - in self titled there was alot of experimenting with the sound in it.Dont get me wrong - every song in there is insane, but towards the experimental side, almost like in MFKR.In Iowa things are polished, pushed to the limit, every song is absolute monster besides radio "friendly" left behind.
You know, I got to give it up to people who do the whole album instead of just song by song. Those people just do it for the likes and views individually for each one. So good job my friend.
Quite the album to start with
Damn, People = Shit left this man inaudible 👀
And now everything ended his voice for a moment.
My Plague (New Abuse mix) was the official soundtrack for the first Resident Evil movie btw.
Definitely should do their first album Self Titled) next time you do Slipknot.
Off topic but I noticed lamps on the background I have the same one lol great reaction though 👍🏻
Suggest Korn 1994 album
My man, you figured it out, EVERYONE is a heretic
The story behind 515 is said Wilson morning his grandfather who had just passed away
Litterally listening to some of the craziest songs ever.
And this guy be like 😐😐😐😐😐😐
🤣
lmaoooo
1:33:11 You're close. The song is about someone killing their crush and then just staring at their corpse, obsessing over it, obsessing over anything that indicates that they are dead; being cold to the touch, turning blue, having blank eyes, and being able to smell the corpse rotting. This is shown in lines like "So blue, so broken" and "So cold, subversive" and "Your eyes are full of bleach"
that's the more specific meaning
i feel like the song as a whole is a representation of the darkest most depraved part of the human mind, obsessive, degenerate thoughts, showing how mentally sick a person can really become
The meaning behind Everything Ends Lead singer Corey Taylor: "It's about the last time I tried to commit suicide, and more to the point, the first day I figured out what life was all about. It's about the last day in a life I don't want to remember and about the first day in a life that I am living right now."
Not u eating takin a bite of sushi while listening to 515 😂
Давай реакцию на первый альбом)
My plague was in the first resident evil movie not what the song is about but dose fit the movie great lol
Yo you should react to Subliminal Verses Slipknots 3rd album i feel like you would enjoy it a lot, its such a massive turn from Self-Titled and Iowa like a major 180, they are more melodic but they still have that heaviness too them. you should also listen to Rage against the Machine either Rage against The Machine or Evil Empire both are really good.
2:56 BRUUHHHH RIGHT WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO NUT!
Reacts to their darkest album in light, reacts to their 2 records before and after in darkness lmao.
If your in for a disturbing read, look up "how did corey taylor record the song iowa?"
1:33:7 On point, this is exactly what the song is about
Hey man, just wanted to let you know that a lot of beyer headphones (including yours, I think) are very high resistance (ohm) which means basically they need a lot of power, so the reason why they don't go as loud is cause the don't have enough power, and also without enough power they won't be as dynamic, i.e the loudest and quietest sounds are closer together in volume than they would be on a more powerful amplifier, which would make bass punch more, depending on the headphone, but I think yours are quite dynamic. I'm someone who's into hifi, so don't let me talk you into spending a bunch of money, instead if you want to improve the volume I'd recommend like a $50 used dac/amp combo, which will both convert the sound to analog (sound) from digital (numbers) and an amp which increases the volume. Your computer has these components built in, same with your phone, but they are very weak.
Reaction to every slipknot album?
Happy to say I saw Slipknot many times once at Tattoo The Earth and a few more times at Allstate in early 2000s. Definitely saw them when IOWA came out I remember them playing Heretic Anthem it was awesome, I fricking loved Slipknot so much in high school
Last time i listen to this album was in 2003.
3 days grace is valid! Can you react to a soundgarden album or Audioslave album?
Thats the first time I've heard someone describe People = Shit as "subtle"
he might've been referring to (515) but either way i don't think either are very subtle lol
It’s pretty tame now but when this dropped there wasn’t many modern metal bands with this level of production. I loved percussion so of course I was sucked in.
I would love you to react to one of the most original metal bands of all time. Dog Fashion Disco's Commited To A Bright Future...they have been compared to a mix of System Of a Down meets Faith No More.
03:00 Do you have issues with the volume on the dt 770, do you have a amp?
Great review. RIP joey. Hes behind a lot of this album including whole original versions of some of the songs from back in the 90s. I got this album before i turned 14 on 9/11. Born raised dsm. 515.
Youre right on about track 5 being more tony hawk style, they called it the misfits song or something. Youre totally right about the album building on itself. Slipknot was a weirdly super authentic band and it totally proves with this album. Unfortunately going the satan route doesnt pan out ultimately lol, but this album is a beautiful stone tamblet artifact.
Listen to the original 'gently' for real. When my eyes turn from blue to gray. Peace! If only fools from dsm would pay as much as attention as you. Paul gray RIP.
I hope he reacts to all hope is gone or white pony 🙏
Ever put lemon or rubbing alcohol on a open cut? "Wrapped in glass and slowly soaked in lime". Man's is hardened and unfeeling.
DT770s and you think you need better headphones?? Sounds like you need an amp!
I do advise you to check out some Tool though.
the mic is way lower than the music otherwise great reaction :)
I can only take so much negative music these days. This album was always a little too dark but it's still pretty epic. Have you heard Karnivool - Simple Boy? Opening track to a masterpiece album.
Simple Boy - UA-cam
**Can't copy and paste links anymore huh... And the censorship surrounding political issues... UA-cam is going down hill man. It's a shame.
do slaughter to prevail kostolom full album wi lyrics
Man do you want to kill him? Still a good suggestion tho
Great review on this album! Also I wouldn’t call this band Death metal necessarily. Just metal maybe? The beauty in Slipknot is each album is drastically different yet still sounds like them. Nonetheless you earned yourself a sub. 👍✌️
@@kw1ll1sreacts you should listen to the Subliminal Verses back to back. Way more experimental. My fav album.
Nu Metal with Death Metal influences on this album for sure.
But yeah, defintely not Death Metal. Slipknot incorporated elements like blast beats, fast tremolo picking and somewhat slammy riffs at times from Death Metal.
But the biggest difference is the vocals. Low growling vocals are kinda symbolic for Death Metal while Slipknots vocal technique basically literally is screaming your heart out.
ay man where you been?
@@kw1ll1sreacts oh damn alright i see you, good shit
Just for your reference, slipknot are not trap metal.
Trap metal is specifically when there is actual trap music incorporated into the song, has nothing to do with the vocals
Slipknot in this time was heavily Nu-Metal along with different core influences, like deathcore
Loved the reaction, but one small issue. Slipknot is not death metal, far from it infact. They're much closer to NU Metal/Alternative. With that being said here are some good death metal bands I'd love to see reaction too in the future if you care to check em out.
Death
Cannibal Corpse
Obituary
At The Gates
slipknot have lots of death influences, and death metal riff/sections through out their music, like the verses in all hope is gon e for example
1:39:11 I can't speak English, what does corey say here?
Don't know what part is it, but I guess it IOWA.So those are Corey's screams but reverses
@30.00 the The Heretic Anthem the lyrics are 'six sic six' not 'six six six'
Slipknot are not death metal. Some songs have elements of death metal, but that is not their primary genre.
For the most part but some songs off Iowa are really pushing the line into death metal
Slipknot isnt death metal wtf?
do marilyn manson album reaction please
There 2 things I can't stand.
1. Gatekeeping and giving people shit for their taste in metal.
2. Five Finger Death Punch.
lmaooooo
But five finger death isn’t that bad tho 😞
Yeah Slipknot is NOT death metal.
All ur doing is comparing them to others constantly. That's not how u grow your channel . Think big picture
