This album was recorded under crazy conditions. They spent over a year on the road and were thrown back into the studio with zero chance to rest. The guys were at each other’s throats, there was a lot of booze and drugs, and a whole lot of anger. They were sick of each other, but had to somehow coexist and create together. The result is some of the most emotional, energetic shit your ears will ever experience. Legendary band and album.
The great thing with metal & extreme music is that once you understand that it isn't just a bunch of 'angry' noise you then start to find how cathartic it can be. It can be a great release of tensions and stress and leave you feeling like you channeled any negative energy into the music and come out refreshed. It is for this reason that the majority of metalheads that you'll meet will be really great folk. It is so rare that you hear of any trouble at metal gigs or festivals. Glad to see you enjoy the Knot, whilst this is the heaviest album and probably the fan favourite, Subliminal versus (the third album) is a beautiful creation.
@@Boldiv67 I LOVE it when someone says like "oh you like listening to devil music" or whatever bullshit that they'll spew out cause I'll just stand there and smile ear to ear while staring into their soul
I'm so shocked nobody has explained IOWA (the song) to you. Corey literally drove himself into an emotional fit during the recording of the song. He stripped down naked in the booth, chugged liquor, broke a candle stick and proceeded to cut his chest open and bleed and throw up everywhere. This song was Corey going into the deepest darkest sickest parts of his mind and who he is. The song (straight from his mouth) is about him being locked alone in a room with a dead body and doing fucked up things to it. By the end he was screaming at everyone to stop staring at him which you can hear in the background if the song. This was Corey releasing all of the pent up rage and hate in life he has bottled up. Amazing reaction to the album man, can't wait for you to get to Vol. 3
Way overrated song imo for what it is supposed to be. Yes the tales about it and how it was recorded are crazy but imo there are far better songs when you're looking for an aggressive psychotic "outlet" type song by Slipknot. Scissors or Skin Ticket come to mind for me for example. I'm almost glad he cut that sh*t off at the end 🤣
No way bro I saw the other one last night and you already hittin Iowa damnnn. I think Vol 3 will be ur favorite if you listen to that one tho. I recommend their third album. You gettin a sub from me btw
Yep I connected to that song a lot during the lowest part of my life. I hate songs that are so repetitive but skin ticket really connected to my soul and spirit during that time. To describe my emotions, it was when I am hallucinating inside my room seeing things hearing someone say that the devil will talk to me or something. There's a lot going on during that time that I just can't understand. Can't control my emotions.Sorry for my bad English
The intro to this album is actually a recording of #0 Sid Wilson the guy on the turntables. It was recorded in the studio after he found out his grandfather passed away.
It's very cool when you realize the significance behind a lot of these songs. Of course, they can all be attributed to combatting their addictions and aggression towards each other but for example: Disasterpiece "I wanna slit your throat and fuck the wound" (as the lead singer explained in an interview somewhere) was directed to his bullies as a child Heretic Anthem "If you're 555 then I'm 666" they are not satanic in the slightest, but they're indicating that if people tell them to be one thing they will be the complete opposite. Kinda like differentiating themselves. Also hence the lyrics "Which is fine because you're made of everything I'm not" That song was directed to namely the pop industry and a lot of producers and labels in general that told them to sell hits that can actually appear on the radio for once
The reason its different and hitting is probably cuz its the most energetic and passionate music you've ever heard. I guarantee you probably cant find previous music you listened to regularly that match this level of energy. Music effects more than people realize and there's a reason low to mid energy music is mainstream.
I used to listen to this album on my portable CD player on the way to high school everyday. Definitely got me going. You gotta see them do People=Shit, Disasterpiece and Heretic Anthem live in London 2002. Its Slipknot in their prime and its crazy. What will always make the first couple of albums undeniably legendary, is the fact that he literally ripped his throat apart recording and performing those songs. That commitment to produce a sound that will never be replicated is something special. The raw absolute rage and brutality of it will never be heard again. Skin Ticket is one of the best songs on the album. Moody, atmospheric, and a bit of a slower burn than most of the rest. When I try to show people that Slipknot is more versatile than they might think I'll show them Heretic Anthem, Left Behind and Skin Ticket are from the same album. You should keep going and do Vol. 3 the Subliminal Verses though if you havent yet.
I listened to metal for 20 years, at first Rammstien seemed satanic and it scared me a lot, today I dance listening to Cannibal Corpse and Exhumed, what a wonderful journey!
9:45 "i know that shit hit live" believe me it fucking does, you should definitely react to their 2001 ozzfest performance where people = shit is their opening song. its crazy.
Corey’s harsh vocals in the first 2 albums , there’s literally no one who has been to before or since, touch the extremeness and are without a doubt the reason Slipknot still has fans, lol. I haven’t liked much of what they put out the last 15-20 years but that’s all you need in this life, to be seen a metal gods and what has been going on with the band the last few years, its just depressing. They sound nothing like how they used to and how could they? This is metal, you put your best stuff out when you’re new, that’s just how it goes and slowly but surely they just can’t play the same thing anymore. Watching them at damn near their 60’s, is pretty impressive. 3rd album is okay, 4th has 1 of my favorite songs from them, it’s pretty underrated, but everything after their All Hope Is Gone album sounds nothing like the first few.
hell yeah love to see it. listening to this band since the start. I can confidently say even though this is some of the best metal ever created, Corey really needs to just stop vocalizing in some parts of the songs. You miss out on the INCREDIBLE instrumentation.
Everytime you have this indecisive look on your face whether you should like it or not and just say "that shit hard as fuck tho 🤔" the more i realize you're like me when i first started listening to hard music like this 😂. I recommend LD50 album by Mudvayne or Adrenaline by Deftones for nu-metal. Want more screaming??Try gojira, lamb of god, and Killswitch Engage. I don't mind the replays that much and good luck on hitting 8k ❤️

great video dude, make sure you check out the deluxe version of albums as they have extra songs
I love this, but why does this dude look like the reaper, the USMC sniper 😅😂
Toxicity is the only album you should respond to in the future. Once you listen, you will know.
Architects all our gods have abandoned us has to be a listen it’s amazing
Skin Ticket is one of the best songs on the album. Moody, atmospheric, and a bit of a slower burn than most of the rest. When I try to show people that Slipknot is more versatile than they might think I'll show them Heretic Anthem, Left Behind and Skin Ticket are from the same album.
You should keep going and do Vol. 3 the Subliminal Verses though if you havent yet.
I listened to metal for 20 years, at first Rammstien seemed satanic and it scared me a lot, today I dance listening to Cannibal Corpse and Exhumed, what a wonderful journey!
9:45 "i know that shit hit live" believe me it fucking does, you should definitely react to their 2001 ozzfest performance where people = shit is their opening song. its crazy.
You need to react to slipknot live in London 2002
Vol. 3 next
i thought the same thing when i listened to the bridge in left behind lol i was like "this sounds like deftones"
The beginning was Sid screaming in 515
Corey’s harsh vocals in the first 2 albums , there’s literally no one who has been to before or since, touch the extremeness and are without a doubt the reason Slipknot still has fans, lol.
I absolutely love Skin Ticket, but this entire album just slaps. The only song I find myself skipping on repeat listens is Iowa. :D
Hope you see this I'm a little late but Slipknot does have an official Live album that is on Spotify called 9.0 Live
Bro, Vol. 3 The Subliminal Verses! You have to do it. You will not be disappointed
hell yeah love to see it.
listening to this band since the start. I can confidently say even though this is some of the best metal ever created, Corey really needs to just stop vocalizing in some parts of the songs. You miss out on the INCREDIBLE instrumentation.
REEEEENOOOOOOOOO slipknot reaction lets gooooooooo
I mean you have to see them live in london it was something else !
