Slipknot Disasterpiece ~ Reaction and Dissection ~The Decomposer Lounge
Everyone needs a mulligan now and again.
YOU KNOW THAT!!!! :)
😂 I missed that this morning, but that's great. Welcome aboard.
@@KeyOfGeebz Mulligan when you go Gilligan
Slipknot live is an experience. Bring a lunch haha!
@@KollinsandKings yappp. 30 yrs old now. saw em in 2005 on the vol 3 tour Portland OR!
Some dude listening to Disasterpiece and saying "I feel like a kid again" and "I feel lucky to be listening to this now" - .......................
AND he commented on Paul's playing unprompted.................?
Why yes, I did tear up
Ain't it the truth
I'm having flashbacks of Joey drumming upside down and sideways
Yeah I’m not sure he even was aware of Paul Grey’s passing, got a cold chill when he mentioned that
Perfect song for this. Joey was exceptional despite him being extremely humble about his own drumming. Next I would highly recommend Eyeless.
That’s what made Joey so cool. He was so down to earth.
I remember when the first album came out , eyeless was the shit . Just too bad that corey taylor never had the same voice live as in the first album
@@paulatreides1354 It's because he wasn't doing the type of vocals that can be sustained. His doctor reccomended he stop doing them, and learn to do them in such a way as to not rip his vocal chords apart.
As a result, after Iowa, a lot of diehard Slipknot fans, me and my buddies for instance, complained that they had "Lost their edge" and "They were selling out" We were dickheads and wrong on both counts, obviously.
@@timlewis9848 you can hear it in his playing too. he’s so fucking talented and there’s so many amazing original fills and shit he’s got but even with his expansive catalogue i can’t name a single fucking song he ever overplayed on
Live from download 2009!
Front to back, Iowa is one of the best metal albums ever written.
I spent half my adolescence listening to this absurd album
My nephew had me sit in his car while he played a Slipknot song. He was a big fan of the drummer. I remember staring at the dashboard and telling my nephew.... "He can't be doing that without help. It's insane." Then he made me watch a video of one of their live performances. The guy was a GOD. I mentally asked for forgiveness.
lol cool story, yeah Joey was a Drumming machine.
Well, he has two insane dudes banging the shit out of their own drums "helping him", but I get what you're saying. RIP Joey
@@JackCarver10 well yes and no... see they had their own sounding drums, Clown usually beats on a steel drum using a bat or he uses band drums, but they bring in a different sound than the main drums. that's like saying you dont need Bass cause you have two Guitars, that is just not accurate.
@@UltimateGamerCC I agree.
@@someguy2016 The usual. Synchronic meditations on Passion, Power, and Punishment :) How you doin?
I'm lucky in that I got to see Slipknot live with Paul and Joey. Incredible musicians all around.
So awesome I wish I had the chance :D
I was also lucky enough R.I.P to two of the most talented people to ever take the stage
Same. Saw them at Ozzfest in 2001 and have seen them since.
El Paso Texas February 28 2009 El Paso County Coliseum All Hope Is Gone Tour Slipknot
I will never forget that day its burned into my memory the greatest performance Ive ever seen
That was also the the first time I saw Trivium live for their Shogun tour goddamn was that a great show the best Ive ever seen
So so lucky it was Jay and the new bassist when I saw them
Most people don’t know they Joey ALSO wrote most of the guitar riffs. Mad talent.
Like which?
They used to put Joey on a hydraulic platform when they played live and used to lift him sideways and spin him around. Never missed a beat just an incredible drummer.
Saw that at Download 2009. Fuckin EPIC.
@ninjafang Same.
seeing that live is a memory i will cherish forever. RIP
I seen it in Illinois. As sick as I was at the time, it amped me tf up. Amazing.
rest in peace joey
Imagine the conversation:
"What mic should we put on this drum?"
"Snare or tom?"
"55-gallon"
This album got an entire generation of kids into death metal.
Slipknot is not generally considered to be a death metal band, but if you really listen to the riffs on this album they drew tons of influence from death metal records.
The record label wanted them to write more radio friendly hits like wait and bleed so they released this album. Epic trolling, heavy as balls.
their nu metal
@@doolasmillet3588 and the guitar riffs and drums on Iowa are straight off a death metal record. What's your point?
My point mate is that their genre is Nu Metal Fucken tosser @@VulgrDisplay
and then after this they did exactly what those suits wanted, weak.
I doubt that's true because this album still has radio friendly songs like My Plague and Left Behind
RIP Joey. Slipknot tracks makes me relax, its like a huge relief and release of any bother through the powerful delivery. MFKR /,,/

@@benebbitt8359 Much different era. All good none the less.
@@sdunn0417 i agree ......just pointing out what MFKR was :)
Is everyone just forgetting about “prosthetics” ?? Disasterpieces is my favorite song but prosthetics is another level also 👀☝🏽
Even if you run I will find you...
@@derekfletcher8934 I decided I want you
Now I know I need
True
That is my all time favorite song from slipknot.
Joey is why I started playing drums. His blast beats are second to none. Insane power from a dude only 5'3.
RIP JOEY, you are missed. Hope your hanging with Paul.
I got into drums because of Joey 15 years ago, and haven't played in at least 5. Joey's passing has made me realize how short life is and that I've been wasting time. RIP to the legendary #1.
hope you picked them back up dude
I saw joey fill in for lars ulrich of Metallica, saw him live with Rob Zombie and also saw him play live with one of the best industrial metal band off all time...Ministry! Also saw him play live with his other band Murderdolls, the did a signing before the murderdolls gig in Manchester so managed me meet joey and got his Autograph...he had a massive impact on my life and il never forget him. Sleep easy Joey 🐐🤘🤘
Slipknot is hands down my favorite act that I’ve ever seen. It is pure energy. Corey knows how to work the crowd like no other band I’ve ever seen, and they all nail it along with the lights and pyro! 100% recommend!!!
I saw Joey with his rotating drum set, pretty sweet
Yeah, I saw Slipknot live in 2011 at Sonisphere and was not a huge fan at this time, but the energy and power they put that night was just unreal, amazing memories
Imagine you're mesmerized by the performance, forget what happens during Spit it out and suddenly Corey points and screams at you. Best concert ever!
Disasterpiece is their best track and Iowa is easily their best album for me just so raw.
Easily!!! True meaning of raw music.

for me Metabolic is more raw than this that song is the absolute anger representation
Would love to see him react to the lyrics... That first line is so brutal
More Slipknot please ! 🤟🔥
I admire your respect for Joey and his time he played with Slipknot. If anything, now you'll get to hear the differences between his playing and Jays.
I went to the Slipknot Disasterpieces gig in London 2002 (their best live DVD) as my first ever gig. Such a special memory!
Same 😊
I would give an organ to be there.. my god dude, that's so awesome!
The love and energy YOU put into giving and trying to do right by others...i pray there is a special place in heaven for angels like you

Too many good ones this week Mr Geebz, The Brain Dance - Animals As Leaders next? 🤌
i second this
Thirded.
Yessir 🧠🕺
Oh heck yes! I can't even name a song of theirs but I have heard enough songs by them that they need to be decomposed. All the intricate playing is ridiculous.
either that or CAFO
This album had great performances from Joey but I really like 'The Shape' as a piece.
So glad I got to see Joey down under a couple times. RIP
My favorite on the album
Damnn i really wish i had the opportunity to see him live! And Paul too
Yes. The Shape is AMAZING! Would love to see Geebz check it out!
@@powerhitter033 it's my favourite Slipknot song.
@@timothycarville1188 It is definitely one of mine. Hard for me not to pick The Heretic Anthem for my #1.
When the final breakdown came and Geebz had a huge smile on his face, made me so happy :D
Yep! Shortly after he mentioned the childhood joy, we actually see exactly that kind of joy in his grin :)
Iowa was an extreme album. Everything on it was just taken to the max!
This used to be one of my absolute favourite songs back I the day - even better live on the Disasterpeice dvd.
Requesting some Monuments Sir Geebz, if you could possibly 😁
Pretty sure he literally just did some Monuments? I think?
I always wanted to know what the hell they were watching on the hidden track that made them throw up lol
@@frightenedsoul it's scat porn
“Ffffuuuuhhhh”….
That was the appropriate reaction. 😂
I'm so glad you caught that bass in the middle there. That flurry he does is so quick, descending down the scale to the open B. Love it.
Seeing Slipknot live (especially as the original 9) is definitely a highlight in my life experiences! Even if you don’t film your reaction I BEG that in your own time you check out Joey’s awesome drum solo where his platform not only spins, but raises to a 90° angle as he is playing! It was a memory I will NEVER forget!
I'm not aware of any slipknot songs on 7 string, they're actually tuned way down to something like drop B, drop A, etc.
Need to check out a live performance of theirs, they put on a hell of a show
At a minimum I know duality is drop b so I imagine most their stuff is, first song I learned on bass straight from a tutorial video Paul made where he mentioned that
They play with lower gauge strings. So it is six string but they could never tune as high as E
@@norixiusttg6176 and Idk about the new guy, Paul only played on a 4 string bass, though I have a tendency to just up tune the e string on my 5 to play duality because I'm too lazy to drop all the strings on my 4 (only need b and f# strings for the bass part)
Will never forget my first slipknot show I'm glad I got to see them with Paul and Joey R.I.P
Joey was always my favorite member. Just not the same without him
RIP Joey & Paul. Lucky to have seen them and met them. 🤟
There's an amazing live concert called "Disasterpieces" that is mind blowingly powerful. It features songs from their first 2 albums, Slipknot & Iowa. Both killer albums worth listening to
Wasn't expecting a new one tonight. You're the man.
Oh, Kings of the Canival Creation by Dimmu Borgir. Another very influential drummer: Nick Barker, that album being some of his greatest work. Incredible production quality. Highly recommend!
Thats slipknot for you.. the 3 first albums are masterpieces. Art. Components, screws and the gears of the universe coming together through 9 different people with the same vision and goal and everything came together and fit just perfect. That just doesnt happen, specially in places that doesnt exist to the world. I dont know what slipknot are doing nowadays because i stopped listening. Theyve lost their core, and soul but they kept going and they never became what they were meant to be. Rip joey, the greatest drummer we ever did see. - My opinion
Corey: I'M NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HERE!
Geebz: 😃
IOWA : A landmark album that will forever be revered and the best work of an influential band.
Geebz, Joey participated on a Roadrunner Records 25th anniversary project called "Roadrunner United" which features lots of great musicians and mind-blowing songs. "Annihilation By the Hands of God" is one of them with Joey totally killing it on the drums!
Slipknot's Iowa album is definitely a classic, it holds up very well. The next time you listen to The Mars Volta Geebz, react to Take The Veil Cerpin Taxt! The instrumentation on that still blows my mind.
I would definitely love to hear Take the Veil through Geebz's ears! There is nothing quite like The Mars Volta.
Geebz showing off that “stank face” at 11:03 is wildly appropriate 🤘
I’ve seen slipknot live 4 times and it is something I can highly recommend. One of the best live bands ever! Great job, Geebz!
Really appreciate you covering this and for the shout out to Joey (RIP). Since you mentioned the bass work, I think its also fitting to give a shout out (RIP) to Paul Gray. He passed a few years ago and was another founding member of slipknot. On this track he was doing a lot of the backing vocals and was slipknots bassist. Great job as always! :)
“Fuuuuu” lmao!! That was priceless! Bring on some Byzantine please!
Of all the live shows I’ve seen, slipknot is consistently one of the best live bands. Especially the earlier shows up to around the Vol 3 tour cycle are probably the best shows I’ve ever seen for the energy and intensity and general vibe of the show.
Seeing Slipknot live in 1999, omg such great memories!
Man, I’ll grab you a cuppa tea. Seeing someone hear and fully appreciate my favourite band like this... and being blown away by it too. So many people overlook this music as the cliche “just noise” it’s way fuckin deeper, . Anyways thank you man. I’ll try get you a tea instead of a coffee.
Saw them in 2016 and 2019, the latter performance was a surreal experience, it was unbelievable to feel the energy of the music and crowd that night
I was 11yo when i discovered Slipknot. Had my mom buy the album (slipknot selftitle 1999), because I was fascinated by the album cover ( the mask and jumpsuit). The first song of the album, after the 30 sec intro, is [sic], and my life was change, the song start with a massive percussion intro, it blew my mind away.
been to hundreds of shows. Slipknot was absolutely one of the best. I left a piece of myself at the venue.
...hundreds...?...ok...
Ive watched hundreds of acts over the last 23years also and although im not a "Maggot" ive gotta say they are one of the best/entertaining live acts ive seen. Caught em in 00' & 05' at festivals. Excellent 👏

BTBAM really does class other bands in this style pretty thoroughly

You should react to the live drum cam version of this. Joey's performance is insane. RIP
That hi hat clutched thin like that made a distinct sizzle that was taken from THIS guy Joey Jordison! Paul Grey RIP Joey jordison RIP May you plug gods ears with dimebag Darrell creating maggotism at its absolute finest!
Grew up with early Slipknot, Korn and Linkin Park. Hope you do more as it makes me feel like a kid again too 😊
haha those were my big three bands a as a kid. good times
I seen them in 2022 at Rocklahoma and at 50 years old they do not disappoint. Great show.
My friend. I'm 38 and have been listening to them since I was a teen. I've seen them live only twice. I took my only daughter to see them live for her 14th birthday last year. She is an introvert, very shy.....wont even bop her head at all. We obviously couldnt talk during the show....but when we left, I asked "well? Did you like it?" And just smiled and said yes, but when I asked if she would ever want to go again, she said very firmly "YES".
The feeling in your chest, the double bass, the energy.....a sea of pulsing maggots in a field. Locking life memories in. I hope I can see them one more time before they call it quits.
This entire song is ridiculous and one of the best performances from the whole band. Joey wrote a perfect drum composition, Paul had one of the most perfect bass parts to compliment those drums, and Corey's vocal performance is just unhinged and I love it.
Hey Geebz, wanna say thank you for everything you've done again and how great you are. Slipknot's one of my favorites and Joey's death is gonna impact me for a while, R.I.P.
Keep loving what you do brother, we appreciate you
Saw Slipknot with Joey twice at Ozzfest... Shorter sets, 30 and 45 min. but still kicked ass!
the most scary part is slipknot are 9 people on stage with no click and its so damn tight
Bassist, Paul Grey, also died in 2010. RIP.
Saw them at the Forum in LA after they released Vol. 3. Amazing performance. I was lucky enough to catch one of Joeys sticks that he threw into the crowd at the end of the show. One of the greatest days of my life.
The nameless - slipknot

So glad you posted this! We love you Geebz!
You have kind eyes, good sir.
Thank you for listening to this. It's one of my favourite Slipknot songs :D .... one of them.
Man, you are great. I could listen to you talking about music for the rest of my life. Thank you for puttin gin the time and effort. It really shines through.
Let's Goooo. Glad you did another to replace the last post brother. You are appreciated
So I'm nearly 40 years old now. I liked Slipknot from day one. They were a great way for me to let out all of my teen aggression. I think I'm very different now. I'm pretty chill.... but when I re-listen to songs like this..... man. It all comes back. I just wanna punch faces and lose my shit. I think that's the sign of a damn good band.
RIP Joey.
Thank you so much for this Sir!!!
It means a lot for so many of us!

Geebz, you are wonderful! You bring me such joy by watching you experience all this music for the first time because you only get that once. Thank you for sharing these first times with us who had ours many years ago.

Joey had a big influence/part in the writing of this particular song.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Really entertaining.
You're awesome. Don't sweat it.
Thanks for all you do, Geebz!
Much love from down under 🤙🏼
Geebz, absolutely love your channel!! Your grin at 12:22 when they hit that huge head banging riff just made my day. Appreciate all that you do!!! Awwwright!
I just love your insight as much as your positive energy !
As always, great dissection. I love Slipknot since I first heard them in highschool back in '02.
Aloha my friend! Such an amazing song and powerful drumming. Thank you for this.
Thank you so much for doing this rip Joey still can't get over that your gone. Thanks for a wonderful legacy. Super appreciate it
I used to listen to almost only metal. These days I listen to softer and more mellow music but I appreciate going back to metal with your "guidance". Slipknot is too intensive for me to listen eg. in my car but I can still appreciate it.
sounds like you're more of a "Classic" Metal guy, Metallica, Megadeth, Judas Priest, etc. Slipknot is actually not all that intense, it's energetic, it's powerful and it's aggressive, certainly... but i can tell you that you havent seen anything yet when it comes to intense, i can fall asleep to Slipknot. XD
I understand how you feel. The next time you're out driving you should check out Ulcerate. Great atmospheric metal, great driving music.
after the build when in the second time around when joey hits those sharp high hats, sounds so sick
Have seen SLIPKNOT twice in London. It is definitely an experience for the eyes and ears. WOW!
Sir, I was not expecting this one from you. But I loved it. This song is brutal in every sense of the word. I loved your take on it, and appreciate you respect for joey. Great work my friend.
Super Cool Video Thanks. Joey was the Reason why I started to play Drums. R.I.P
You're a kind soul. I love your content and connection you make with the fanbases as a whole. You can hear the most angriest music and somehow understand it from our perspectives as a coping mechanisms. I appreciate you for understanding me(us) indirectly.

Disasterpiece has been my favourite Slipknot song hands down since the self-titled album dropped. The intensity of it all, and that bridge...second to none. The pinnacle.

@@KEVBOYMUSIC 😂 my thoughts exactly
Have seen Slipknot live five times, all w/Joey, and yes- they are amazing. It's like being crushed by a wall of sound...in a good way.

Geebz done did it again! I absolutely love the look of disgust when you heard that nasty pre-verse hat roll. Joey's legacy will never be gone! He was a huge inspiration as a young drummer and people say they can hear it in my style. R.I.P. -#1-
This just proves your reactions are genuine!
This was awesome to watch and thank you for making the content. I'll repeat my comment from earlier today on the community, and say that if you need to take a break please do. I believe it affects your content as well, when you're well rested and rejuvenated.
As for the reaction itself - thank you for making another Slipknot one, and I hope there's many more to come. My favorite album used to be Vol 3, and I'm only recently getting more into "Slipknot" and "Iowa", so this episode was awesome to watch. I'd recommend "No life" as their early work, it's mind-blowing.
I didn't mind the Joey focus on this one, and you gave Paul an honorable mention, so as for the fans - you ticked those boxes, sadly both now deceased.
Also, if you've made a video for Unsainted we'd love to see it, I think Jay has adopted the Slipknot style and is now creating something new with it. I do hope Joey was proud of the work he did for them, because I think he nailed it. Although... I would've preferred 'Nero Forte', 'Not Long For This World', or 'Solway Firth', each of them a musical journey.
Thanks for adding a technical angle to my favorite Slipknot song. It was very informative.
I love to see old school musician like you appreciating music regardless from its genre itself! 🖤
