- It's time to return the Pontiac GTO back to it's owner, a Vietnam Veteran! Do you think the old goat will make it with no issues? Found out as I finish this light restoration, then attempt the drive from Tennessee to Florida!

Derek it goes I see said the blind man to the deaf child
Life’s a dance. You learn as you go Sometimes you lead and sometimes you follow. Don’t worry bout what you don’t know 17:34
I’ll add something. It is my belief that genuine fans of VGG wouldn’t stoop to exploiting others. It’s as distant from the values we can see & share, that VGG, Derek & his family show every time we get the privilege of peeking into what they’re up to.
Exploiters can sling their unwelcome hook.
wait Derek isn't a Nigerian prince ?
Holy Smokes people.. I didn't say "GD".. I said "how dare em". I've never swore on this channel and never will. Why would I not remove it even if I did being the director, writer, actor, talent, owner, and operator? Wake-up! And love ya!
Love ya
Somebody's getting bent out of shape about swearing? I get that you didn't but people are getting a bit over critical about pure Nonsense anymore. Gimme a break. You said "Dryer than Bob Barker's back" though. I inhaled my soup, & made a heck of a mess. Hilarious.
You wouldn't believe the hate email I've already received. Unbelievable.
@@ViceGripGarage You're just fine; ignore those karens. Love the channel and been watching you for years!
this is the perfect way to get extra views. Now I gotta go back an find where you said it. :-)
When you were talking about the owners medical issues, I could see the pure emotion in your face. You were completely invested and committed to this build. That is what makes you a good man Derek. I thoroughly enjoy all of you content simply because you are the most honest and entertaining creator on UA-cam. Thank you for all you do and keep up the good work. Sending lots of love from New Mexico.
God Bless you, Derek! Your #1 in my book.🏁🏆🥇
My Dad was a Vietnam Veteran who saw VERY HEAVY combat and is highly decorated with metals and we never knew till he was dying,he never told us!! He was an AWESOME Father a legend were ever he went. Vietnam veterans were so unappreciated. Thank you DEREK for helping him!!!!!
Thank god for Derek and thank god for veterans 🇺🇸
Thanks for your support and love of our veterans. God bless you, your family, and the pros who made this happen.

I love the fact that you realize that this is not just a car. You are my people. Thanks.
Thanks to you, Dan and everyone else that put their efforts into bringing this car back around for its very well deserving owner.
Thank you so much, extremely kind of you!

@@ViceGripGarage Love your work man, if you ever want to have a chat I would love to help you eliminate some of that judder in your video so its an easier ride for the viewer.
After his amputation it may be hard for the guy to have something to smile about. Seeing this car and riding or driving it, may be his first smile or tear of joy in a while. What a blessing VGG has done for this man.
❤🙏❤
Hear, hear!
Amen!!! Well said
Bloody oath
As an owner of a self restored 67 GTO I must say this is my most favorite series you have ever produced. Thanks for all you are doing for this family. God's blessing on you all.
So appreciate that about you, Derek. God bless.
And thanks to Derek for showing such kindness to a veteran!!! Great channel!!!
You can tell in his voice his sincerity when explaining the situation with the owner. He's a true gentleman!
100%
I could see it in his eyes too...made this old softy leak a few myself
I stayed glued the whole time. I tell ya, a guy is a first rate feller and I think this tribute to an American Vet is fantastic. My Dad is a Vietnam Vet, whose favorite ride of all time was his 65 GTO. I think he would love this episode so I’m going to show him. Thanks again, this show is why I love UA-cam. There is nothing on the 9 million channels that matches this kind of honest entertainment.
@george9417 Go stuff it.
You and your family are just what makes me not completely give up on humanity. God bless you.
Derek, I had never seen you until you started Roadworthy Rescues on the Motor Trend Channel. As a Vietnam Era veteran, I have seen how they were treated when they came home, and I think this is a great thing that you did for this Vietnam Vet.
Thank you for your service sir
As a Vietnam era vet myself this one hit me right in the feels. Thank you for what you do for vets. It really does mean a lot more than maybe even you realize.
thanks for your service, i am not vietnam vet. but when i was younger i had one really guide me and give me way better life advice then i got from anyone else. i can really appreciate the area and mind frame from the experience

@George That's pretty rude!
@george9417 Get a life man.
@George YOU act like, just because he gains financially, that's the ONLY reason he does this. I'm pretty sure there are not many who agrees with that kind of rhetoric.
You know, I generally really enjoy these videos simply because they show Derek's ability to take a vehicle that's in awful shape and bring it around to running condition again. This video is different: all we hear on the news every night is how bad things are here and how bad things are there, yet HERE is an example of not only Derek giving up his time and skill, but he mentioned several others who gave of their time and treasure to help a guy out. THAT, my friends, certainly restores one's faith in humanity. Way to go, Derek! It's leadership like yours that makes this country what it is.
Yes yes this is why we watch .....we just know you are a decent human being. Ty
This is... BY FAR.... my favorite car channel...
Thank you very much!
I had watched almost all you videos, but this is the first time it make me cry... God bless you Derek and family for doing what you do, the world need more folks like you. The owner of the GTO is in my prayers!!!
I second that emotion!
@@plgpa Ditto!

Yes Awsome. Keep up the good work.
What is a dkk
Derek Derek Derek… I’ve watched almost every one of your videos and I have to say, that’s twice you’ve made my eyes water! The tribute at the end of your dads car, and then this one. I love everything you do! You’ve actually inspired me to do some of the same things up here in Canada. You are truly an amazing person!
That was a very cool gesture to a vet.
Well Done
I'm a Vietnam veteran I have a 74 Lamans I bought when I came home and parked in 84. It sat for 30 years and one of the first things I did was replace the cam lifters and timing chain and gears. I've been driving it for eight years now and hopefully many more. It's great what you did for one of my fellow brothers. Thanks
Thank you for serving
thank you for your service. very very smart man doing that maintenance work! sweet ride.
Thank you for your service sir
Thank you for your service and hard work 🙏 ❤
Derek that brought me to tears when you spoke about the owner’s health issues. I am very pleased that you decided to forge ahead and do the right thing. I hope the gentleman has a speedy recovery. People really feed off your generosity and personality. It’s really a blessing and a pleasure to watch your journey with this car since it came into your possession to get her back up to snuff. I can honestly say this was my most favorite revival yet. It’s not always about the value of classic cars, but the story they tell that make them invaluable. Thank you sir.
Derek, as a Vietnam Vet, this series made me really appreciate your family and your caring personality. It is unfortunate that the owner's reaction was not attainable in this last post, but as you offered, maybe sometime in the future we can see the happiness you gave him, but regardless, we all saw how you cared and very professionally explained the situation and made us all realize that our disappointment of not seeing that reaction, needed to be and was replaced by our concern for that soldier's recovery and hoping he and his family come though this tough time. Derek, thank you for what you did, and thank you for these entertaining and educational, and funny and heartfelt videos of bringing classic vehicles back to life. If I had the ability, I would buy them all. Great work!
Thank you for your service sir
I’m a paraplegic and the freedom that a car provides is an amazing feeling for me. You really did a good thing for this guy. Thank you.
Hits a fella right in the 'Merica. Thank you for all the hard work on this for a very worthy recipient.
i'm a veteran myself, younger generation, 54 now, and to me this is really special, can't compare anything happening now, with Vietnam, and its veterans, also can't find any words, to Derek and the whole team who made this possible..this is such a great sign of appreciation to all veterans! priceless..Thx!!
Blew up people for rich elite wtf is wrong with you
Thank you for your service sir
As a vet. Much respect! Thanks VGG. You and your family are AWESOME! Thank you for what you’re doing.
Thank you for your service sir
Just wow. This is so truly kind. Thank you to everyone involved in doing this.
I have a friend who served in the navy for 21 years. I don’t feel our veterans are given the true appreciation and gratitude enough.
My dad served in WW2 and many other family members served.
Thank you Derek. Awesome series
Being a veteran, you have no idea how much I appreciate what you have done for this guy. You are a damn good man Derek. I feel honored to know you even though it is only on your blog.
Im not a veteran myself and i feel the same way as you do, i appreciate the heck out of what he has done for this guy. Im sure being a veteran just makes it feel that much better to see it though. Thanks to you and all the veterans for what you sacrificed...

20:53 Ah Ha....said the blind man...as he picked up the hammer...and saw. 😆
Derek never ceases to amaze us fans with his humor and gratitude to all the vets and passionate Americans. This was a tear jerker buddy. So glad the Goat made the trip for you and the owners family.
It was a pleasure to see the GTO and meet Chris at the FF. Listening to him talking about the car, and blown away by all the people that knew the story and wishing his family all their best.
I have never commented on a UA-cam video. I have only watched the first episode of the GTO. Hands-down one of my favorite videos on UA-cam. I love this channel. As a veteran, no words can express how amazing it is that you’re doing this. Bravo Zulu. This is also the first channel I have subscribed to, simply because you’re a pleasure to watch. You speak the right language.
Thank you for your service sir
I ain't even finished this video yet. I will in a few minutes. As a disabled veteran I just want to say thank you. I hope that you never have to do this for me or my family. You are an amazing man! I've worked my butt off for veterans for the past 15 years, maybe even kept a few of them from becoming one of 22, but this just warms my heart! Thank you! I love you, brother!
Thank you for your service and hard work and fighting for our freedom. God bless you and your family 💯❤💯❤
Just want to say Auto Upholstery is a dying art. My Grandpa did it for years! Much appreciated Dan.
My late Father owned a shop for 25 years. I worked there for many years. All I can say is yes it is a dying art. When I worked there he would take me out to lunch. The guy at the restaurant would ask my dad , Pete, Hey Pete how’s business? His stock answer would be sew sew.
@@kevinjustkevin7627 Such a Dad joke, but I still smiled and laughed. Thanks
Thanks, buddy.
Can only say, wow .

As a vet I want to thank you for all you do for all the vets out there.
THANK YOU!!!
Stay safe out there!
You are a good person and we really appreciate you and your family thank you

Thanks for taking us with ya on these projects. It means a lot!
21 yr vet here, sitting on Hurlburt Field military base, enjoying a cold snack,a cigar, and the latest episode of my favorite show: VGG. 10 pm hits and the Taps starts playing almost the exact time you gave your wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery to my fellow brother and veteran. I was overwhelmed with emotion and struck once again by your support and all you do for my brothers and sisters in arms. Keep doing what you're doing and just know we've all got your six. Keep doing what you're doing and God's blessings to you and your family.
Right up the road from y'all here in Milton. Love hearing y'all do your night flights and bomb drops. We live just outside of the North West part of Eglins range. We go to sleep the rounds of thuds almost nightly. Thank you and all vets for your service. Not just a thanks, but an appreciation for you, as a person, for what you do.

This guy has never lost his roots! All the shade that gets thrown towards him for growing his channel, doing different things, and plain enjoying himself doesn’t shake him a bit! Derek, you’re top notch. Followed you from the beginning. Thank you for what you, Jessica, and the kids bring for entertainment.
People are jealous. It is really fun to watch a show or project evolve.
I’m an ARMY Veteran, Thank you for doing what you did with the GTO.👍
Big thank you to everyone involved in this build I will definitely be praying for you all
You had me tearing up too Derek, I am also a vet and praying for the ol'e guy to get better. You sir are a hell of a man. God bless you and your family.
Thank you for your service sir!
I have to say Derek, I am an absolute fan of your channel, as well as everything you do! In addition to your selfless and caring nature, you helped a feller get motivated enough to not only work on his own vehicles, but appreciate everything when it comes to preserving old cars and their history! Also, a shout out to all veterans and thank you for your service! I could not think of a better tribute than this video!
Thank you for appreciating a veteran, very cool. When you did a walk behind the car, it sounded like the 1985 Monte Carlo SS that I used to have.
can a fella give a guy a heartfelt virtual hand shake and say good job! taking care of our vets is something everyone should do!
This world definitely needs more Derek's. You sir, ROCK!
Just awesome people doing awesome work. Couldn’t imagine a better way to end my week than seeing the finale of this series. Thank you for being such a great person and role model. And thank you to Dan and all of the other Vietnam vets. Welcome home! 🇺🇸
@ rabesbird I couldn't agree more if I tried. Phenomenal man doing a phenomenal job and just a great way to end my week. Just awesome all the way around.
Every single one of us should look up to Derek. He is an awsome dude and a great great father to those boys. I absolutely love the guy. I will always support every single project he does.
We love and respect the heck out of you Derek Bieri and Family.
I normally don't leave comments, but this one hit deep in the feels a little bit. I lost my Pops 2 weeks ago. I've been rebuilding his 99 Chev Silverado but since he passed it been hard to look at the truck. Him and I both served and watching you bring this car back to life for a fellow vet has been a blessing to watch. Thank you for all the hard work you do to bring us joy and for inspiring us to be better humans.
Don't give up on the old truck. He is still right there with you working on it.
If his family sees this please tell him. Welcome Home Soldier and thank him for his service
Derek , what you did for the owner of the GTO and his family is simply beautiful. You are such a kind person. Thank you for being so inspirational. I’m a huge fan of everything you do. If you ever have an event in the Chicago area, I would definitely have to come out to see you!
This episode made my heart very happy.
This is just beautiful. I love everything you do, I’m at a loss for words for how amazing of a person you are. You deserve every bit of this channel and the motortrend stuff. I haven’t watched for super long but I’m forever a fan simply because of your character.
And you just GOT to love how he tickles those sparkolators !
Your son reminds me of me when I was a youngster proud to see him wanting to spend time with his dad to learn and help good stuff too
Moses' sandals this whole episode has been a tear jerker from start to finish...but at least they've been tears of joy and gratitude! Somehow hadn't seen this older episode - so glad I stumbled onto it today!
Glad to see that you are still doing your youtube channel. I enjoy your other show on motortrend but it is way to short. I enjoy your journeys.
Thanks for watching both, appreciate it
What a glorious machine! A phenomenal surprise for a Vietnam Veteran, quite a pair, and fittingly so. My Uncle served as a flight instructor and I can't thank the Vietnam Veterans enough.
As an eldest son of a ww2 veteran, I give heartful thanks to the honor you have bestowed upon the worthy veteran despite all your adversity, bigtime.!
I worked for a Pontiac dealer in the late 60's and no one would change out that spark plug, for that reason. You can get to it if you pull the fender rubber cover out and go in with a wobbly and in order to get it back in use vacuum line on the plug and start it and then tighten down with the wobbly. Torque - No Way.
Derek, you are a real mensch! I couldn't be prouder to know someone! It's sad that our brother was dealing with losing a limb, but I hope that you redoing his GTO will give him something to look forward to and work towards. Our prayers are with him and his family.
The absolute definition of a Mensch 100%
this is exactly why you are such an inspiration to everyone. I've always had the highest respect for our veterans also being one myself at my shop every veteran who comes in doesn't pay for the time only for their parts. thank you for what you do Derek. all of your success is truly deserved
AMEN !
That's cool man.
Thank you for your service sir
Retired military guy here, brought some mist to my eyes. You are a good man Derek, God Bless You!

Derek's life has become one revival after another. Gotta love it
He’s done more revivals than Oral Roberts.
This was the one we been waiting for. Beautiful car. Thanks for doing this for a veteran. Respect 🇺🇸
As a army veteran 92to98 we all really appreciate it Derek
This feller is a 50% disabled veteran and a guy's gotta say thank you Derek and family for this video. Your love for what you do shines through
Thank you for your service sir
Hey Der-dude, just took 1972 F250 390 Custom Sport 4speed granny across USA, coast to coast, and back return. Thank you for your teaching me. Mark Gruner
My dad is a Vietnam Vet. While he was deployed, he sent all of his money home to my grandfather who worked at a Ford dealership. My dad wanted him to find a”fast” car for him. My dad wrote letters home weekly asking my grandfather if he’d found something cool for him. Grandpa always said “not yet, hopefully something neat will come in soon”. Meanwhile a guy had come into the dealership and traded a 67 GTO with the 400, tach on the dash etc with less than 2k miles on it. He traded it for the new Galaxy 500. Grandpa bought the car for him and when my dad got home from Vietnam, it was waiting for him in the garage.
I have every single letter that my dad sent to my grandparents while he was in the military. I’m sure many people have similar stories, but that one is his. My dad is 75 years old and we still talk about cars, motorcycles and everything fast.
Thanks for taking on this project, Derek!
Same here. My father is a 76 year old 'Nam veteran who had a 66 GTO w/389 and 4 speed before Uncle Sam called and for awhile afterwards. He sold it in the late 70s.
I can still see it in my mind: gold exterior with black vinyl, wooden shift knob, and louvered tail lights. Dual exhaust. Whatever the Pontiac version of posi is. He ordered it from the factory.
I love all of his stories, cars and otherwise. Thank God Almighty he is still with me and I hope that is true for many years to come.
This just made my Friday. Have had a pretty rough week, but now its all good. Gonna sit back and watch this absolute legend do his thing!!!
@Mac Thank you, same to you.
"absolute legend" Yep.
I definitely would like to see an update on his family and their reactions to this awesome revival. Great car, great people. Thanks for sharing this VGG.❤
Was there an update on showing the owner the car and how his health is after the operation?
Personally I would've picked him up from the hospital in the goat if I was the family,or had it in the driveway when he came home.
Thanks for everyone pitching in for our fellow brothers who have put their lives on the line for this beautiful country!❤
As a Vietnam Marine vet 4/1966-7/1967 that was a wonderful job on the GTO, I'm into old muscle cars too ,I bought from the original owner a 1966 Buick Riviera GS with factory Twin Carter 4 bbl. fully loaded on the night of Dersert Storm Jan. 1991, Has 77K original miles, blow ice cold A/C and will lay 2 black stripes on the ground at the drop of the gas pedal!! Keep up the work Oorah!!
Thank you for your service sir
As a UK veteran of 24 years service this really pulls on my strings what you have done here, I hope he makes a great recovery and gets all the help he needs from his family and the VA, Derek from the bottom of my heart thank you for what you do
And thank you for your service to your great nation, from your patriotic friends across the pond. Cheers!
As a navy veteran I’m right there with you a lot of us have normal lives and unfortunately too many of us don’t some need to seek medical attention others may benefit the most from Derek and his work other might find that all they need is for us as brothers to be there for them to Lean on when they’re having a bad day. Not everyone can pull off a big project like Derek but we can put our hearts out there for a brother in need even if it’s just a quiet cup of coffee and conversation about cars, you never know that might just save a life
Seriously dude got a vet here too 11th mountain division. Derek is a god sent doing this because he seriously wants too. An angel indeed.
Thank you for your service sir
I'm late to the party with this, but God bless you, Derek. It's too bad the owner couldn't take part in the "reveal", but just knowing how hard you worked to make it special for him is enough to warm everyone's hearts. Thanks from all of us for the time, effort, and expense you put into this project.
What you do with that parking ticket is you mail it back to them with a note that says no contract you did not sign for that ticket it's only upstanding if you sign and play
I've learned many things from Derek over the years but the most impactful thing i am consistently drawn to is his ability to maintain his patience and composure when adversity strikes. Which is often when working with mechanics, other people's cobb job fixes, and businesses that can't keep their promises. If i were to attempt some of these trips id still be on the side of an interstate highway somewhere.
As a Gulf War Veteran myself my eyes seemed to have gotten a little misty hearing about what you are doing for this Vietnam Vet! Thank you so much for this and everything you do!
Man this one here... This hit home. Last December lost my boss ( a vet who started his own hotrod shop) due to health conditions while we were building a truck and hearing another family going through something just as similar is sad but he sounds like a tough old man and now he has a reason to get better so we can burn a little rubber like he used to. I really do hope to see them well in the future. Great Job VGG
Thank you for expressing your heart 💜 a beautiful one it is,, God Bless you Derek,You are loved, your friend from Alaska 🙏❤️🇺🇸
Hi Derek:
Many years ago, I owned a 1964 Pontiac Parrisiene with the same timing chain slap The mechanic said he'd have to replace the chain. Because I was POOR, I asked him whether he could adjust the timing a bit late, so that it would be right when running. He was surprised that a pencil-pusher like me would have clue about such things. I forget to tell him that my Dad was a Master mechanic, and had taught me a few things. He set the timing, and it ran really well, even when I drove it another 8000 miles, The car had 101,000 miles on it when he did the work.
I'm getting the same sort of thrill when I watch you take unusual actions to remedy a puzzler. Thanks for all the enjoyment watching you. Great program!
As a retired Vet myself, all I can say is, "You do some good stuff". God Bless you and your family. The Goat looks and sounds great.
Thank you for your service sir
My prayers to the car owner, and a thank you to you and all who are and have served for our country. I also want to thank Derek for the huge heart he has and what he does for his viewers and fans.
THANK YOU DEREK! What an amazing and thoughtful effort throughout. Prayers for the owner and his family.

Great show I enjoy watching those classics come back to life. I had a few and had to sell all of them, so it's nice to see the appreciation of them. Thank you to all the vets out there and your service.
Absolutely fanatic build and cause. Thank you so much for all the positive content and dedication to a car culture that is in need of "do it yourself garage mechanics". We love it and can't thank you enough.
Dan, Derek, and everyone who worked on this car for a veteran have my admiration and I wish all the best things for you all.
Derek I just finished R.R. I purchased immediately after seeing the first episode on the UA-cams. I loved every minute of it and cannot wait for more. It’s your honest and wonderfully eccentric good humor and skill that makes me very happy to have found VGG. Hoping for a wonderful Christmas for you all and more amazing opportunities for you next year!
I was honored to be able to provide the seat covers, carpet and labor to do this interior restoration for a fellow vet who has fallen on some hard times. Hope Mr. Johnson recovers quickly from his amputation, and that he gets to see the car real soon
Just when you think a guy can’t get more generous…. THANK YOU, Derrick, your videos inspire us to be better. 💪🏼
Prayers and Hugs for his and the VGG's entire family's! 🙏 Thanks for all you do!🥰
