Like the recent videos - this one is same as my truck (2008 Chevrolet 2500HD crew cab w/ short bed) so extra helpful.
I'm currently replacing all the fuel hoses w/ braided stainless steel due to flexing in the rubber parts of the originals - was getting fuel starved and giving code P0087 then limp mode. Pulled the tank, changed the sending unit, changed all the supply /return lines. Still have to do the 5 little ones under the hood (269.00 for 5 little hoses)
FYI - If you run into a decent set of stock exhaust manifolds with heat shield for the LMM I would be interested - mine are about rusted away. Like the vids - keep it up

Bro go back to some of TM older vids. His mods and repairs to his LBZ are dam near identical to your an mine LLY. His vids helped me out a great deal. Get rid of the stock mouth peice. Cheapest route is replacing it with a LBZ mouth peice. Then replace fuel pressure valve with a PPE. Spring in stick one gets real weak due to time and mileage.

If you want to eliminate the filter use the blocker plate as the factory filter housing also has a heating element in it for colder climates, and even with winter diesel on especially cold days this could leave you stranded on startups as the fuel will not flow properly. And if you are running a multi system filter setup with lift pump then you won't need to change the filter as much, but with the factory filter in place it will also give you a warning if you get a bad batch of fuel with high water content and hopefully prevent you from blowing the tips off your injectors due to water.

But I had to fill up a little sooner than usual, later that same day I found I had a fuel leak, the factory filter housing had a leak at the primer button. Ended up bypassing the factory filter. Can only wonder how long it was leaking, or if the lift pump caused it to start leaking.

the issue with removing the factory filter and filter head, is if u do get water in the fuel and you dont have the factory filter and sensor there, you will not know and it will destroy the fuel system, that is why i just leave it there for the WIF sensor... its cheep insurance, yes the air dogs filter can hold alot of water, but usally when u get water in the fuel you get 2 or 3 liters in there, which will fill that filter quickly.

    I gotta question
If the stock filter is no longer needed .
That must mean its not filtering anything out of the fuel , im assuming.
So , why would i have to change the filter , incurring the extra costs, you mentioned.
Because if it is clogging up , even over a long period of time , thats a good thing , thats its catching , anything that gets passed the fass fuel system ,dont you think ?
    Plus
How do you prime , without that plunger ontop of the stock filter mount ?
I do like the extra room though .
Also , do you know if anyone has tested the fuel flow rates , comparing the two ? ( with fuel filter delete compared to leaving factory filter system in along with the fass fuel system)
    Ok
    Thanks

On my LB7 2001 there’s a wire that goes from the bottom of the fuel filter housing to the harness. Maybe a sensor wire that connects to an idiot light.
If bypassing the housing is the loose wire going to work the dummy light? If not, there’s a bypass bowl that allows one to reuse the drain where the sensor wire connects. I wonder if the dummy light will sense this modification

love your videos man but if the stock filter is still getting dirty and needs replacing, then in my mind there is something left to be desired filtering wise with the pump??! ive ran my Fass 150 on my LBZ along with the cat under hood filter the last 100K with no issues. This spring when i replaced all of my fuel filters approximately 15K on em, the cat filter was dirty a bit, not bad by any means but definitely not new. My kanundrum is, if the lift pump whatever brand it is Fass/Airdog sends entirely clean fuel to the rail then why does the factory filter still need to be changed, there should be absolutely nothing getting caught in it anyway, which that definitely isn't the case. so by deleting the factory filter, where is all of this still factory filter caught material going and going through?? Hmmm...

Not true. Been running my truck this way for over 10 years. They still need replacing and they do get dirty, but not as bad. It never hurts to have a last chance filter to save your injectors from contaminated fuel. It is done on diesel boats all the time.

Yes delete it because the positive pressure from the lift pump blows by the orings in the filter head and will cause a leak. I rebuilt mine 3 times before I just yanked it out. Haven’t had a issue since.

@@truckmastergarage9944 there are no filters at this point. Your lift pump has failed, you have removed and bypassed the factory filter, so now the CP3 is pulling straight fuel from the tank to your injection system. I've had my lb7 since 2016. I was the only one that worked on it until 2019 and until then it ran like a champ. Now because I trusted that others knew more than me about my diesel it's been in limp mode for so long I'm afraid it's going to go down in flames while I'm driving it. You tube served me well until someone did so much on it I don't know where to start. Wish someone around here knew anything about duramax. If only I'd of stayed single....I think he was only with me for my truck. Until he broke it. I got a lincoln 2011 running great when no one else could then some dude stole it from me. Can't a girl love tools and trucks and mechanical stuff without a guy wanting to take it all away? Well you can't keep this girl down. I have 99 problems I hope my injectors arent one. I'm gonna hide in a shop somewhere until I figure it out. Bury me with my tools if it kills me trying.
