Great review as always. But saying the NXR needs a drop-down visor I feel is missing the point of the helmet. The way I see it when it comes to Shoei is if you want a sporty helmet with the best protection and/or something you can take to the track you have two options: The X-Spirit -- which is the top of the line track focused version. Or the NXR -- which is the more road biased version. If you want a more touring oriented helmet you instead have the option of the GT-Air as the sporty option or the Neotech as the less sporty option. At least that's how I've always viewed it. The NXR2 even has a flat visor with vortex generators similar to that of the X-Spirit. For me it's actually a good thing that the NXR doesn't have an integrated sun visor because, in theory at least, it should mean a safer helmet. And it also gives you a compelling option if the X-Spirit is a bit outside your budget.
Fair enough. The reason we partially rate it as a sports-touring helmet rather than a sports helmet is because Shoei positions it like this. It would make more sense to view it as you do, a morw cost friendly alternative to the X spirit 3. But Shoei insists it is a sports touring helmet. Besides, as you may have noticed we considered the K6 and the profile V as its direct competitors, because they also dont have a sun visor.

In our ranking at the end of this video, you will be able to see how each of the mentioned helmets scores and the NXR2 has 8.4 points overall. Although it's the most expensive of the three, I think it's worth spending a bit more on a better helmet.
Go to the store and try both. GT Air 2 is shaped differently. Slightly more sloping forehead, more forehead pressure if your brow is square. It’s heavier, and more cumbersome in my opinion. It’s also noisy and poorly ventilated I’ve been told by customers. But it works great for lots of people too. I ride the Profile V and I like it in every category aside from top ventilation. But this channel slates it. Totally subjective. My next helmet will be NXR2 if it’s notably better than the comfort and performance of NXR. Selling helmets as I do, I highly recommend trying a helmet on in person before even bothering spending the time to watch more than one or two videos!
What problem with sun visor I buy this because no sun visor. Sun visor take out intergrity of helement without sun visor helemet is more safe and strong.
I know this reply is a bit late, but still... Most helmets are fine for cold weather. Get a nice balaclava (Specifically for motorcycles) with a Gore-Tex/Windstopped membrane.
Don't know why I bothered watching this as I already have an nxr2 faust...meets 2206 standards, loved the graphics and a comparable arai didn't look as good

GT air has a ratchet strap. Therefore some tracks will not allow you on

They mention it in the video when they talk about the flat shield. Flat shields have less optical distortion than convex shields
