The hardest thing to do is to create something that gets funnier with repeated exposure. Yikes. Hilarious face-acting by Browne, voice impressions and character acting by Lindley. The pulse and the song form stay intact all the way. Personal hyperbole. Inside-baseball gearhead references. Collector psychology dissected before your eyes. This damn thing is killin' me.
Lindley is having health issues; a friend of his (Doug Reynolds, who has his own UA-cam channel) recently organized a T-shirt benefit sale to help pay for his medical care. The music business has no respect for genius, and our for-profit healthcare system is unjust and insane.
@@glengoodwin9111 , Lindley passed away 3/3/23. 2 benefits for him were held that raised about 70K to help pay off his medical and funeral expenses, so that his wife and daughter wouldn't have to worry about money for a while ( I bought 2 t-shirts and left a donation). Henry Kaiser posted a lovely and heartfelt Requiem for Lindley on UA-cam, with home movies of their trip to Madagascar to record with local musicians. It's on the Cuneiform Records channel.
Thanks for posting this- sure wish the whole thing was there. Dave was responsible for me acquiring a host of weird guitars from pawnshops in Flint Michigan back in the 80s. I told Dave this when I met him in San Diego way back when. I totally understand owing all this crap BUT I sure down own a Dumble- which is a little out of place in this crowd- kind of like a Maserati in the garage along with an old Ford Falcon.
This reminds me so much of the two of them doing the "real" song about cocaine on "Running on Empty". "You take Sally and I'll take Sue There ain't no difference between the two Cocaine, running all 'round my brain."
There is a video on UA-cam of Lindley playing with Bonnie Raitt in the studio as she is recording "Everywhere I Go" and he is dressed in a black T-shirt.
I am a huge music fan (of almost everything) and I only belong to 2 fan clubs, one for Ry Cooder and one for Jackson Browne... I'm totally serious... LOL!!!
Well shoot. My MAGICAL MUSICAL MUNCHKIN has gone on ahead folks and it tis a bummer. He's likely been seen doing his ethrical tune-up jobs on some borrowed golden Heavenly harps!
This video was taken down for a long while, couldn't find it. Hilarious, so glad you put it up.. But, what show/program is this from!? I'd really love to see the whole thing. @Fifteesrebel
I don’t think that’s rys Coodercaster. Maybe something similar but the actual one I think had the leopard pick guard by the time this video was make, no?
At first I was thinking 'Yee gads man, thats a really low bass sound, is he using some manner of octave pedal? Tuned really low perhaps?' Then after perusing the comments I saw it written that the gtar he is playing is a 'Teisco 6 string bass' I am off to research this instrument so bye bye.
Petey Urukalo heck yeah -- dig those 'ol teisco's as well -- ry cooder is an unreal open g player, legend has it that he's the one that initially showed the tuning to keith richards.

What is that guitar leaning in the background? It resembles a Gibson FJN Folksinger with the double white pickguards removed but the neck inlays look different and this one almost looks like a 12-string from this view which I don't believe was ever sold. Anybody have any ideas?
RIP, Mr. Lindley
RIP. His epitaph may read, "He had every guitar he ever bought . . . or borrowed."
“here lies none of the guitars I borrowed from Jackson”
Fantastic footage. Two of my musical heroes !
the most adorable video on UA-cam. love it!
This is COMEDY GOLD!🤣

Two geniuses right there.
Love this good-natured musical ribbing of Ryland...plus you can catch DL laying it out on a damn good-looking guitar amp combo
Yes, Lindley doing his Ry imitation is classic.
You say, "Ry, that's mine, you got that from me." He says, "Yeah, I don't know where I got that."
These two guy's are the Best, I'd love to hang out with them for just one day. ....Truth
Beautiful
Love these guys
The musicality of the entire world took a hit when we lost David Lindley.
LINDLEY THEE LEGEND.
Thats a Dumble Overdrive Special in the back :) Sweet
But what about that Kay 703 amp over Lindley's left shoulder!

I blame him too. I still have the Guitar Player mags with his column Pawnshop Prizes..
Lindley was one of the first to own/use a Dumble. Old/funky or new, he didn't care, as long as it could enable him to express his artistic self
I read once that Lindley would buy a cheap electric guitar at the local Walmart before a concert and could knock great sounds out of it on stage.
Thats rught

Love this video!!!
I know this feeling!!
Soo Funny. Jackson's naughty smile.
The Dumble amp in the background is probably worth more than every Teisco guitar in the world combined!
Not just one but TWO! Look closely, there's a Dumble combo to the viewer's left, partially hidden
@@desvega5849 it's true.. two Dumble! .... he probably have more!
@@eltru2004 , Lindley sold a Dumble to Ben Harper a while ago. Harper said he didn't know if it was the same amp used to record Mercury Bkues.
@Des Vega Dave was an early Dumble client if not the first. He has a "couple".
@@celticgodsoriginal , actually, Lindley sold a Dumble to Ben Harper ---- You can see it in the Premier Guitar rig-rundown they did with Harper.
Busting Ry for guitar theft lol.
That was cute. Made me smile.
Mr. Dave 🤍 🌹
MAGICAL♥
I don't think I've ever seen David Lindley not in a polyester shirt. This is a first.
There is a video on UA-cam of Lindley playing with Bonnie Raitt in the studio as she is recording "Everywhere I Go" and he is dressed in a black T-shirt.
love it!
Ry Cooder is one of the best guitarists in history. Look him up folks.
Chances are that if they're watching these guys, they already know Ry Cooder
Tennis Rich, I just saw him (Ry) play, a week ago! Now if only David would come 'round again......
Not that they care at all, but Cooder and Lindley belong in the RRHF. Incredibly gifted musicans and true artists .
@John Rapp Bravo!!

Hilarious exchange !

It's from a docu on a Dutch luthier called Flip Scipio. Lives in NY.
Funnier and funnier.
Looks like he has a couple of guitars .
That is a small sampling, and then there are the banjos, mandolins, bouzoukis, ouds, fiddles.......
I came here because I saw the teisco stayed for the video and song.
Good job! You can have your ice cream now ; )
I like how they seek the truth
Look at thoughts Teisco guitars!
How many guitars does a man need? One more.
And which guitar is your favorite?
...the next one!
cool
Looks like a CooderCaster at 2:49
I have that guitar, its kinda broken right now though.
Funny
THE very first electric guitar I ever had was this type exactly ^ but it was kinda a basket case.
the low bass string is tuned in A .am I wrong?
From 1:24 to 1:26 you see the Coodercaster
Where??? I don’t see it
Yes! That cracked me up. I hope the guy filming knew that he just nailed the punchline.
It's at 2:48 or so.
I don’t think that’s rys Coodercaster. Maybe something similar but the actual one I think had the leopard pick guard by the time this video was make, no?
Bad link!
If I am right, the guitar is tuned low:A D G C E A? Baritone?

Funny! I have friends like that too; I don't know what happened to it!
what kind of guitar is that ?
teisco - 6 string bass
