Just unbelievable. There's a small repair on the bottom of the oud, kind of cute. He led into this song with traditional Nubian minor key stuff, a brilliant way to segue to a blues song.

Folk, cajun, arabic, greek, turkish, blues, rock 'n' roll. 'Beacon from Mars' was a favourite of mine all those years ago. There's lots of great stuff on their records. My first concert was Jackson Brown in 1977 at MPP, where Jackson and David recorded Stay/ the Load Out. Was hooked then, been amazed by this man since. From El Rayo Ex, to his solo tours, to the absolute magic he created with Hani Naser, he was always fresh and funny! And those shoes 👞 !!!!!!

Yes! We had the same Flamenco guitar teacher, Henri Bison. I had the privilege to meet him. He could play any instrument and sing!

I was fortunate enough to see Mr. Dave play live a handful of times. Loved when he broke out the Oud. Bless his soul.

Lucky enough to see him a good dozen times since his El Rayo-X days.
Always so engaging, spellbinding brilliant & funny...a favourite memory was catching him in a neighborhood, converted church. I approached him after the show, as he was packing up his gear. He actually apologized for being distracted, when I enquired about his bouzouki...saying you can substitute cello strings, in a pinch.
    ☆ There's N O substitution for singular, musical genius!
