Also, in my own small New England community, the churches do a stellar job of feeding the hungry and helping the homeless, which is more in line with what Jesus purportedly preached than the behavior of some pastors and mega-churches elsewhere, who preach "prosperity gospel" and blame the poor simply for being poor. My two main issues with organized religion are when it is used as a right-wing organizing tool, a societal wedge really, to be exploited for political gain; and when people exhibit "magical" thinking, ie "Jesus and my church will protect me from the coronavirus", instead of trusting doctors and scientists.
Wow! I had a Phantom Mandoguitar a few years ago! Amazing little instrument if you can keep the dam things tuned, let alone intonated! Killer killer tones! And Lindley has more weird instruments than the Smithsonian!
Lindley is playing a Vox (Bill) Wyman bass that has been modified to have 8 strings. It looks like a whole new neck. 30 1/2 inch scale. He is super awesome.

Lindley's looks like and electric bouzouki (sp?). There is a version of him doing "Minglewood" on a bouzouki (?) on UA-cam which is killer.
He appears to be playing it with only 6 strings, as well.
