But yes, you get what you pay for. Not sure a car length or 2 on the street means much for a daily, pretty sure both cars are equally fun to drive. They have the same exact engine, transmission, and differential. The LT1 also gets the same base suspension as the SS. The LT1 does not have the magnetic ride control option or ELSD option ( mechanical LSD is standard). Other main differences are the SS has brembos in the front and back, while the LT1 only has brembos in the front. The SS has the staggered setup with summer tires, and larger 275 rear tires, while the LT1 gets a square setup with 245 all seasons. The SS gets a better Guage cluster, and bigger information display, and bigger 8 inch HD audio display (LT1 gets 7in SD screen). The SS also has a differential cooler (LT1 does not), a transmission cooler (10 Speed Auto LT1s also have this), and two additional radiators (LT1 does not have these).

In terms of tires on the Lexus the same point can go to the Camaro. LT1 trim comes with 245 all seasons all around, if that was an SS it would of had 275 rears and it would of been a bigger threat from the dig. Given the already huge cost disparity not sure why a 1SS or 2SS wasn’t brought in, it would of been 62k Lexus vs 40-45k Camaro. It were talking apples to apples on price the ZL1 would of been brought in and no one would be able to cleanup the destruction the ZL1 would do to the IS. Love Lexus and their reliability, this car is a bit too heavy and a bit too late on its release IMHO. Thank you for an amazing video!

Both of those have serious power to weight cuz they're on much lighter and sport oriented chasis and all new engines! I wish they bring the isf back within 3600lbs or less if they can and give it a successor to the 2ur-gse or whatever the Yamaha tuned v8 engine is called lol. He keeps saying that the weight was what gave the Camaro every edge but in reality I think it was more down to the transmissions in each car. The weight will have its greatest impact at the initial launch since that’s where the greatest rate of change in velocity occurs. That’s also where the Camaro had the least advantage. That may also be due to the Camaro overloading the tires with his GTA style launches. Guess he doesn’t realize you only bring the RPM up to where it loads the torque converter but applies minimal torque to the wheels when not using a trans brake, on race tires and with an unprepared surface. It was only after the first few gears where the Camaro pulled ahead since, my assumption without looking at the actual gear ratios, the 10 forward gears in the Camaro’s trans allow for closer ratios gear to gear than the Lexus’s 8 speed transmission. Wider ratios with significantly reduced torque will always hurt acceleration. Also, considering how the Lexus kept up with the Camaro at first those first couple gears in the 8spd are likely shorter which even more so widens the ratios for the remaining gears. Much like GM’s 700R4/ 4L60 transmissions were in the day. Very short first gear to aid the acceleration of their anemic 80’s engine outputs, an okay 1-2 split, and then the awful 2-3 gap that pulled any engine out of its power band.
