Great races. Fellow Camaro owner, start all rolling races in manual mode (in 2nd or 3rd gear) depending on speed, then hit gear level over to drive to let it shift on its own. It will make the rolling races a lot closer since the a10 tends to take a moment to downshift from a rolling start
@@nighthawk0077 Yes the rolling races were done in full auto. The A10 shifts quicker than a PDK but doesn't select gears nearly as well as the ZF transmission left to its own devices. Sam is a beast, so I know going forward he will start the races in manual, then switch to drive. All automatic besides DCT cars perform the best rolling acceleration times using this method.
@@anthonysaquatics4359 I don't know how so many months in Sam is still making these kinds of basic errors. Lots of room for improvement in producing and editing these races as well. I guess let's wait and see.
Lets not forget the LT1 comes with shitty all season thinner tires than the SS, the LT1 uses a square setup the same size as the SS fronts so traction will be limited. Speed/acceleration is not as simple as HP, gearing and traction play a big role as the old saying goes; spinning aint winning!
Intersting stuff. On launches, hook up for the LT1 was clearly an issue. Also, I came across one guy that swore the LT1 was faster in the Touring mode.
I have a 10 speed Camaro . On the roll on races you have to put in on manual mode and downshift to the lowest gear then floor it and slap the stick back over. That lag was bad lol. I still want a Supra though it’s gorgeous 👌🏼
@Catholic Firefighter if you’re only into the speed part of it then no. The LT1 is as basic as it gets and that’s a top of the line Supra with all the bells and whistles.

But the Supra wins performance per horsepower as well as performance per hp to weight ratio. As well as exterior and interior and durability hence price.
Now more than ever the Camaro LT1 stands to be the best bargain of a true sports car on sale today. 40k v8 and a fantastic chassis tune, even with the other engines.
More like 50k + with the price mark ups and low availability of cars. Used 16’-18’ 6th Gen Camaros are going for more than what they went for BRAND NEW when originally first sold. I’ve seen used 6th gens with 50k miles going for upwards of 40k+ which is just laughable.

@@everythingcrypto5577 the LT1 is the BASE V8 model. This is for people that want V8 but don't plan on aggressive driving or track duty. IMO Camaro sounds better. Closer then I thought! Comes down to the launch. Roll race pretty equal IMO. Both awesome cars but priced in a FAR different class. A ZL1 vs 3.0 Supra. Let's see that race!
I own a 2022 Supra and a 2017 Grand Sport Corvette. They are pretty equal in weight and my Vette has 335’s on back. Im pretty sure it would be a good race between those two as my dragy has them at near identical 0-60 times and thats with more wheel spin from the vette. Supra’s are no joke, however i prefer the vette!
This outcome is about right. The Supra really makes about 380 RWHP, so 420+ at the crank. Given the weight difference, it should be a very close race, and it was.
they used an LT1 which has 245 all season tires stock..... the supra GR comes with performance tires stock... they should have used an SS the insane loss of traction on a 245 radial that should be 280+ is a HUGE problem.
Keep in mind the LT1 is the base V8 that comes in some ~$15k under the 3.0 Supra. An SS 1LE would be a slightly better comparison. No extra power but better tires, and better suspension. Though you didn't do a track comparison the SS 1LE should handily beat the Supra on track, where the LT1 would probably be about even.
@@15thelongway The LT1 trim with a 6-speed weighs 3,619 lbs. A 1SS with a 6-speed weighs 3,685 lbs. So, no, the LT1 is not 300 lbs lighter. The 1LE package does not add another 234 lbs of weight.

The fact that they are running identical times is why it's a good comparison. The SS1LE isn't really any faster in a straight line than the LT1. A ZL1? Yea, that would be like comparing the 2.0 Supra to an SS. The Zl1 makes 650 HP, and the Supra makes about 400. So that would be just as foolish. I agree though about the gear changes, doesn't look like the Camaro owner used the paddle shifters to launch from the optimal rpm on the rolls.
ZL1 wouldn't be fair race for a Stock supra it has over 200hp on it. The 1LE is actually heavier with the 1LE package than a very base LT1 model .Horsepower Doesn't change with 1LE or LT1 its the same. Power for Power and weight for weight this is the fairest race.

All this coupled with 1/4 mile races that last longer than the original race in Fast and the Furious.
This is not a knock. I loved it. :)
Wait he did the rolling start runs in full auto ?
@@nighthawk0077 Yes the rolling races were done in full auto. The A10 shifts quicker than a PDK but doesn't select gears nearly as well as the ZF transmission left to its own devices. Sam is a beast, so I know going forward he will start the races in manual, then switch to drive. All automatic besides DCT cars perform the best rolling acceleration times using this method.

Makes sense, for $53,000 I would expect the Supra is slightly faster than the $37,000 Camaro. Supra is a nice car, glad in the 2023 model it'll have a manual trans again.
----------------which in that same race would get smoked by the 10 spd Camaro
Very evenly matched cars
All these noobs commenting on here how can a Camaro with 70hp advantage loses to a Supra, they just dont understand 200 weight difference is a huge deal in car races not to mention being turbo charged, Put that 3.0 vs 6.2 or 5.0 NA and see what happens to the Supra lol
Never knew the Supra was so fast
That legendary b58 motor paired to there perfect Zf transmission
@@scottroberts5529 also super light weight
What did you think it was? Like a FRS?
Is the Supra redlining in D? Or manual shifting? Still trying to figure out the optimal shift point on mine lol
Supra is 100% tuned. The look of the driver says it all. There is no way a stock supra will beat a A10 lt1
Dyno test already proved that the advertised 380hp for the Supra is in fact to the wheels
@@Xdev1lG00D Camaro does 420wwhp
@@trentdaddydolla647 false. Stock is around 390 whp for the lt1
@@Xdev1lG00D And the Supra is lighter.
@@Xdev1lG00D These people are in denial lol!
Пусть он принесет радость и успех своему владельцу...
That LT1 needs a driver mod🤦🏻♂️
